The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Chapter 56

Marcus left Thomas in the care of Franz and left the room. He saw that half of the hall had been completely destroyed and was open to the outside. He used an ender pearl to teleport to the destroyed portion and looked outside.

Notch was still desperately trying to fight the mutant enderman. Both appeared to be at a stalemate with neither being able to get a good hit on each other. As Notch leaped in the air, the enderman was distracted. Marcus threw an ender pearl near the eye of the enderman. When he teleported, he immediately stabbed it in the eye.

It screamed in pain and Marcus went in for another strike. He didn't see the hand rapidly approaching the head. Suddenly, Marcus's side was slammed as something hit him hard. He tried to attack it, swinging his sword wildly.

"Hey, don't swing that shit at me!" Notch screamed. Notch had grabbed Marcus and carried him back to the ground, "What the hell is wrong with you! Why did you just charge in like that! At least a warning would've been nice!"

"Move!" Marcus screamed, "I'm killing this thing, right now!"

"What do you think I'm trying to do!" Notch yelled.

The mutant enderman went in for another strike. Marcus ender pearled away and Notch leaped out of the way.

"Damnit!" Notch screamed, "I don't know what to do about this thing! Everytime I hit it, it instantly regenerates! Look, the eye is already back!"

"Let's try both going for the eyes!" Marcus suggested, "Hear, take one of these pearls!" Marcus tossed an ender pearl to Notch. "Ready! Three, two, one, NOW!"

They both ender pearled up to the eyes and stabbed them at the same time. Gallons of purple ooze spilled onto the destroyed remains of the hospital. The mutant enderman suddenly teleported and the two found themselves falling to the ground. Marcus managed to throw an ender pearl just in time and Notch landed safely on his feet.

"Did that do it?" Marcus asked. As if to answer him, the mutant enderman teleported back with its eyes brand new.

"Nope!" Notch yelled, "Watch out!" The enderman tried to strike them, but Marcu and Notch quickly dodged the attack. Notch leaped up and resumed his attack. Marcus stood behind a destroyed beam, holding an ender pearl.

There has to be some weakness. Marcus thought. I just need to observe and find it. Notch continued to fight the enderman, but got nowhere. Come on, what was the weakness of the normal enderman? Marcus clutched the ender pearl tighter. Luckily, I have the element of surprise with these pearls. Once I find the weakness, that thing is…the pearls. THE ENDER PEARLS! Marcus stared at the ender pearl in his hand. It's so simple! How did I not see it earlier!? It must have one of its own! I know what to do!

Marcus ran out and teleported himself to the highest point of the hospital. He held onto a bar, overlooking the battle. He was right above the mutant endermans head.

"Notch!" Marcus yelled and got Notch's attention, "Jump over the head! I need a distraction! I know how to kill it!"

"Are you sure!" Notch asked.

"Just fucking do it! And make sure you look into its eyes!" Marcus screamed.

Notch got into position and made sure the enderman was staring at him. The two looked into each other's eyes and nodded. Notch jumped. The mutant enderman stared upward. When its eyes met with Notch's, it opened its jaws and screamed.

Thank you, Notch. Marcus thought. He winded up the ender pearl and threw it into the mouth of the mutant enderman. It hit the side of the mouth and Marcus was plunged into the throat. All around him was purple ooze and slippery black flesh. And in the center, at the back of the throat, sat a large ender pearl bigger than Marcus.

He could feel his skin starting to burn as he slid down to the pearl. He stood on top and raised his sword. As he did, the enderman screamed and purple ooze launched from the throat and landed on Marcus. It burned through the diamond armor and began to melt his skin. Marcus screamed in pain, but he did not falter. He raised his word higher and brought it down on the pearl.

CRACK!

The sword stabbed right into the ender pearl, causing a large crack to form. The pearl suddenly lit up and the burning became even more intense. His body felt it was one fire and the pain suddenly increased near his legs. He looked down and was horrified to see his feet disappearing into purple particles.

Marcus screamed in agony, but he gripped his sword tighter. With one swift motion, he twisted the sword and stabbed it as far down into the pearl as the sword could go. The screeching and pain became unbearable. The pearl pulsated as the enderman rapidly teleported. Each teleport felt like his body was melting. Suddenly, the teleporting stopped and Marcus got a chance to get his bearings.

He looked down to see his entire lower body was gone and the pearl had stopped glowing. Suddenly, a hand grabbed him and lifted him away from the pearl. He was lifted up into someone's arms. He looked up and saw Notch jumping from the mouth and carrying him to the ground.

Marcus was still in excruciating pain when they landed. He was in so much pain, he didn't notice the mutant enderman toppling over.

"You did it man!" Notch yelled while clutching his hand, "You killed it!"

"It hurts…it hurts so bad," Marcus cried.

"MARCUS!" Franz and Thomas both cried out as they came to his side.

"Where's my other half?" Marcus asked as he cried.

"It's okay brother, just breathe," Franz said with tears coming down his eyes.

"Marcus, listen," said Thomas, "You're a hero, you killed the enderman."

"I did? When?" Marcus asked.

"Just now, you're a valiant soldier Marcus," said Notch, trying not to cry.

"It hurts so bad!" Marcus yelled.

"I know brother, I know," Franz said while hugging his brother, "I know, just think back to when we were kids. Think back to the meadow, back to all the games we played."

"The meadow? I remember the meadow," said Marcus.

"You're going to be back there soon," Franz cried, "Mom and dad are going to be there to see you."

"Mom and dad, where are-" Marcus coughed up purple ooze. Thomas whipped it off of Marcus's chin.

"You're going to see them again," Franz cried, "I love you, Marcus."

"I love you too, will you come with us?" Marcus asked.

Franz put his forehead on Marcus's, "I will soon."

"I can't wait," said Marcus as another tear rolled down his face.

Marcus placed a hand on the side of Franz's face while his other hand held onto Thomas's hand. Each second, the purple claimed his vision. However, he could still feel Franz and Thomas. He closed his eyes as he felt Notch's hand on the back of his head as he was gently lifted down.

I can't wait to see you all again…someday.
