The Minecraft Story: The Beginning: Finale

The first thing Notch noticed was the scorching heat. The moment he stepped outside the portal, he was met with a wave of blazing heat. Everywhere he looked, there was fire. The land of netherrack was barren except for the fire. Lava fell from the sky into large pools. Notch had forgotten how awful it was in the Nether. It was pure hell.

Notch immediately pulled out his pickaxe and destroyed the portal. He left no trace of obsidian left. After that, he walked across the netherrack, expecting to be attacked, but nothing happened. He sweat profusely and watch as drops fell onto the floor and evaporated immediately.

He came to a ledge overlooking a giant lava ocean. He looked out and could see distant creatures walking across as if it was nothing. At the edge, he pulled out the obsidian and held it in his hand for a moment.

Once I do this, there's no going back. He thought. I wonder if you're watching me right now, brother. Notch let out a sigh and dropped the obsidian into the lava below. Alright, it's done. Now to find this son of bitch. I wonder if yelling his name will get him out here.

Notch took in a deep breath, "HEROBRINE! I'M HERE! COME OUT AND FINISH THIS!"

There was no response and Notch continued walking. Then, there was a sudden shriek and what sounded like a blast. He turned around and saw a giant fireball coming right for him. He jumped out of the way as the fireball exploded behind him. The pressure from the blast sent him flying into the ground. Quickly gaining his composure, he jumped up and dodged the second fireball attack.

There was a giant white monster launching fireballs at him. It opened its mouth and let out another shriek. A fireball whizzed out of the creature's mouth, however, Notch was ready for it this time. Notch held his golden sword tight with both hands. With one swift motion, he deflected the fireball back at the creature. The face exploded into tiny pieces that rained down onto Notch. The creatures slowly fell down into the lava ocean below.

Suddenly, Notch could hear laughing, "Nice job brother!" Herobrine's voice echoed all around him. He couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. "Do you like my play things? That is what I call a ghast. There's several more monsters in here, ready to play with you. Wither skeletons, magma cubes, the piglins of course, enderman, blazes, they all want to meet you, brother!" Herobrine continued to laugh.

"Stop these foolish games and fight me!" yelled Notch.

"I told you brother, meet me in the nether fortress," said Herobrine, "It's right in front of you."

Notch scoffed and looked into the lava ocean. He couldn't see anything except for a dark landmass above. However, Notch took a closer look at the landmass. It wasn't a landmass, it was a structure, it was the Nether fortress.

The fortress was huge with several bridges spanning over the lava ocean. He could see why he didn't see it sooner. The nether brick it was made out of allowed it to blend into the surroundings.

I'll find you soon, brother. Notch thought.

He followed the fortress and saw a long bridge leading to it. He followed it and saw it came onto the netherrack far to his left behind a large hill. This was it, the entrance.

As Notch walked across the bridge, he could see figures in the middle. They were slowly approaching. They were tall and looked like shadows from a distance. As they got closer, he could hear the familiar rattling of bones.

These must be wither skeletons. He thought as they came into the light. There were three of them. Each one was holding a corroded stone sword. They walked aimlessly towards Notch with their vacant eye sockets staring ahead. Notch unsheathed his sword.

The first one took a long windup swing towards Notch. He easily managed to dodge it and immediately took out one of the legs. It fell over. Bones broke off as it hit the ground and it burst into flames. The second made a quicker jab, but Notch managed to parry it with his sword. Notch quickly decapitated the second skeleton and sent its head flying into the air. Notch doubled back and finished off the first skeleton. Notch didn't give the third a chance to wind up. He quickly cut the body in half and kicked the upper half into the lava ocean.

Notch continued on into the belly of the nether fortress. The place was like a maze. Every once in a while, a piglin or a wither skeleton would appear, and Notch would quickly kill them. Eventually, Notch came across a stairway which led to a bunch of flying creatures. They glowed yellow and had several rods floating below them. They all seemed to congregate around a strange chained block. When they saw Notch, they instantly burst into flame and stared at Notch.

Fire huh? Notch thought. I wonder if these are blazes?

Suddenly, five of them began to shoot tiny fireballs at Notch. He ducked down and allowed the fireballs to pass over him. Notch rushed the first blaze. He leaped into the air and brought his sword down on the top of its head. It split in two.

The other blazes shot fireballs again and Notch ran forward to dodge them. When they finished, Notch cut down two more blazes before the remaining two fired again. He jumped over the ledge and held onto the nether brick fence post as they passed over. Notch looked down at the lava below, dreading falling down into it.

When he jumped back over, one of the blazes was right in front of his face. Notch stabbed his sword into the bottom of the blazes head and threw it to the side. The other blaze floated over the chained block. Notch jumped on the block and sliced upward, cutting the final blaze in half.

Notch caught his breath and gazed at the bodies. Notch was impressed that Herobrine had managed to make these while imprisoned in the Nether. He stared down at the chained block he stood on and saw what looked like a tiny blaze spinning inside of it

Suddenly, two more blazes spawned out of nowhere and shot at Notch. He jumped to avoid them, but one hit him in his left shoulder. The pain was horrible, and Notch gripped his shoulder while staring in anger at the blazes. He wasted no time in rushing at them and cutting them down with his sword. After the blazes were dead, he stared back at the chained block.

Did this thing spawn them in? Notch thought. He observed the block and waited for something to happen. Shortly after, two more blazes spawned and the block spewed out white particles. It must be a spawner. Notch quickly killed the other blazes and destroyed the spawner.

"Nice job, you learned about my spawners," said Herobrine. The voice was now much closer, "You're almost there, keep going just a little further."

Notch punched the wall in frustration and continued walking through the fortress. He eventually found he was lost and had no idea how to get back. Several more piglins and skeletons tried to attack him, but they were quickly killed. He passed some more blaze spawners and chose to ignore them.

Eventually, he came across a large staircase. This one did not lead to a blaze spawner. He climbed the stairs. They climbed high into the air, so high, it began to get darker as he got further away from the lava ocean. When he made it up the stairs, he saw the familiar white, glowing eyes of his brother down a long, narrow bridge.

"Hello brother," Herobrine smiled.

"You're not going to run away again are you?" Notch asked.

"Oh, of course not," Herobrine gave an exaggerated frown, "This is the spot I've chosen for you to die in."

"We'll see about that," said Notch as he got into a fighting stance.

"So violent you are," Herobrine laughed, "Although, I guess I shouldn't be surprised given the last time we talked one thousand years ago."

"You mean when you suggested bringing monsters to our world?" Notch scoffed, "And you say I'm the violent one."

"It was a way to bring peace to the world," Herobrine's smile disappeared and he stared straight at Notch, "You told lies to those humans and said I was the reason they fought each other. What did that passage in your bible say? It said I reformed humanity to have feelings of greed, malice, and hatred. What lies you told. We both knew the humans had always been like that."

"And then you suggested sicking monsters to kill them," said Notch angrily.

"I wanted to give them a common enemy to rally behind; something to keep them from constantly fighting each other," Herobrine scowled at Notch, "And you know what, it looks like I was right."

"What are you talking about?" asked Notch.

"I couldn't help but notice that soldiers from the north and the south were fighting my army together as one," Herobrine explained, "I wasn't in the overworld for long, but I do remember hearing the north and south had been at war for years. In just one week, they managed to come together in peace to fight me. They had a common enemy and came together to fight it. I was right all along."

"You're monsters murdered millions of innocent people, our people! The people we created together!" Notch yelled.

"That is the price for peace," Herobrine said calmly, "However, I've deemed our humanity as unworthy of our world. I promise you brother, I will exterminate you and these humans. But after that, I will make a new humanity, a better humanity. And I will not abandon them as you did, brother." Herobrine smirked and Notch was sent into a rage.

"I'll kill you!" Notch screamed.

Notch rushed his brother. Herobrine did not even pull out his sword and he sent Notch flying head first into the ground.

"You have to do better. I've spent the last thousand years fighting down here in hell," Herobrine mocked as Notch stood up.

Notch swung again, but Herobrine dodged it. He kept swinging and missing.

Woosh!

Woosh!

Woosh!

Woosh!

Herobrine dodged them all while retaining a smirk on his face and still not drawing his sword.

That's it, just keep him distracted. Notch thought. Aaaand, now.

Notch pulled out an ender pearl and threw it behind Herobrine. Before he teleported, he readied up and a swing. When he teleported, he went for the Herobrine's neck.

CLING!

Herobrine pulled out his sword just in time to stop Notch's. However, he appeared surprised by Notch.

"What? Didn't see that coming?" Notch mocked as he threw another pearl behind Herobrine.

CLIIIIING!

Herobrine barely managed to parry the attack and the sword scraped across each other. For a moment, Herobrine was off balance. Notch went in with a flurry of strikes, not letting his brother get a moment to recover.

CLING!

CLING!

CLING!

Each strike caused Herobrine to become more and more off balanced until he suddenly fell backward. This was Notch's chance. He swung downward, intending to pierce his stomach. However, he felt a sudden pain in his own stomach. Herobrine hadn't simply fallen over. He jumped and placed his feet on Notch's stomach and kicked off with all his strength.

Herobrine did a backflip in the air as Notch doubled over. He looked up in time to see Herobrine rushing him. He dodged the first swing and parried the rest. As Notch continued parrying the strikes, he threw three ender pearls into the air without Herobrine noticing. He prepared for his attack.

The three ender pearls landed a few microseconds apart. And each teleport, Notch swung at Herobrine.

CLING!

CLING!

SLICE!

The first two, Herobrine managed to parry Notch's attack. However, the third did some damage. Notch managed to slice Herobrine in the arm. Herobrine yelled in pain as this was the first time in a thousand years that he'd been touched by a blade.

He kicked Notch away and ran to the side of the bridge, holding his fresh wound. It bled all over the floor. Notch didn't give him the chance to recover. He threw another ender pearl right next to Herobrine and cut him again. He threw another and cut him again. He threw another, but Herobrine managed to parry it this time and he backed up.

"So you have gotten better!" Herobrine yelled, "Did you get a good night's sleep last night?" Herobrine suddenly began to laugh maniacally. Notch threw another pearl, however, Herobrine saw it this time. He braced himself and when Notch teleported, he stabbed him in the side.

Notch flipped away and inspected the damage. The stab wound wasn't too deep, but it still did a ton of damage. Blood spilled onto the floor. He was too busy looking at his wound when there was sudden, searing pain in his chest. He realized with horror that Herobrine had slashed him in the chest. Notch responded by slicing Herobrine in the stomach. They both kicked each other away.

They both stopped for a moment. Herobrine had several cuts on him and his stomach had been cut open. Some of his guts began to spill out. Notch wasn't in any better shape. His side and his chest were bleeding profusely. Neither of them would last much longer.

I have to take him out quickly. Notch thought. I need to take a gamble and go for his throat.

Notch grabbed his sword with two hands and prepared for a heavy strike. Herobrine noticed this and copied his brother's stance. They stared into each other's eyes. They both knew one of them was going to die.

Notch gritted his teeth and charged. Herobrine followed suit. They ran up and both leaped into the air. Notch could feel the flames on his enchanted sword as he swung with all his strength.

CRAAAACK!

SLICE!

They both landed feet first onto the bridge. They turned around and stared at each other. Notch knew that cracking sound. It was the sound of a sword breaking. He looked at Herobrine's hand and saw his diamond sword was still intact.

Oh no. Notch thought as he looked down to see his golden sword had broken in half. I…lost. He looked down at his chest and saw the deep cut. His lungs and heart had been sliced open. He looked up at his brother one more time before he collapsed onto his back.

Herobrine couldn't believe his own eyes. He approached the body and saw he was not mistaken. His brother was dead. A feeling washed him; it was a feeling he had not felt since he was first imprisoned in the Nether. It was sadness.

Herobrine knelt down next to Notch and placed a hand on his chest, "I am truly sorry it had to end like this, brother." A single tear slid down his cheek, "I'll miss you." Herobrine closed his eyes, not wanting to see his brother in that state any longer.

SHUNK!

Herobrine's eyes widened as he felt a new pain in his throat. He looked down and saw Notch stabbed the broken end of his sword into his throat. Herobrine jerked back and fell onto his back, the sword was still lodged in his throat.

Herobrine grabbed the sword and yanked it out. That was a mistake. Blood quickly sprayed out of his throat. He tried to stop the bleeding but it was pointless. He was suffocating on his blood and his vision was fading.

Notch took one last look at his brother. He watched as he struggled to stop the bleeding. He's not coming back from that. Notch thought. But, I'm not coming back from this either. This is the end for me.

Notch and Herobrine slowly closed their eyes as they bled to death in the nether fortress.

Twenty minutes later, back in the Overworld…

The spirit of Herobrine quickly finished up his last creation. He had to rush it as he didn't have much time left. The sadness he felt was completely gone and replaced with rage.

I can't believe that bastard did that! Herobrine thought. He really used his second life that way! Our second life gave us the ability for our spirits to stay alive for a short amount of time after our physical bodies died. I had no idea we could repossess our bodies in exchange for reducing our second life to a mere couple of seconds! THAT BASTARD!

Herobrine finished his last creation. He quickly did the ritual to bring the creature to life. The creature had gray skin and an elongated head. It stared up at Herobrine's blue spirit with small green eyes and giant nose. It screamed in fear as Herobrine floated upward into the night sky.

"Listen to me and listen well!" Herobrine yelled, "I am you master. My name is Herobrine and I am your god! Now bow to me!" The creature quickly bowed in fear of Herobrine. "I am your creator! I will call your kind the Illagers! And I bestow you the name, Boruzo! Now, speak to me, what are you?"

Boruzo opened his mouth, but could barely get the words out, "I….I…I"

"SPEAK!" Herobrine boomed.

"I…I am Boruzo t-the Illager, master," Boruzo stuttered.

"Good," said Herobrine, "Now listen up, I have created you because I have a divine mission for you. I have granted you demi-god like powers to aid you on your mission. You cannot die from old age. You do not need food, water, or sleep to live. However, you can still be killed if enough damage is dealt to you. So, be cautious. Here is your mission. I need you to resurrect me, for my brother has taken my life. I will only be here for a short time before my soul passes on."

Boruzo nodded his head, "How will I resurrect you, master?"

"Go to the Nether realm. There, you will find a book on how to resurrect me in the nether fortress. Go forth and procreate, build an army to fight for your master. You will need one. To get to the Nether, you must pass through the Nether Portal. You can find it in-GAAAGH!"

Herobrine could feel it in his gut. He was beginning to disappear. The pain was excruciating. "The portal is-AAAUUUGHG! GAAAUUUUUUAAGHHH!" Herobrine screamed in pain as his body began deteriorating. He tried to tell Boruzo the location of the portal, but he couldn't do it. As his body melted, he took one last look at the moon before he was gone.

Boruzo stared into the sky where his master once was. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He continued to stare as he processed what his master had said to him. Boruzo looked back down and stood up.

Don't worry master. He thought. I understand my mission.

325 Years Later…

Steve was tired. His body was exhausted from the past couple days. As he walked out of the forest, he was relieved to see the grand walls of the kingdom.

Authors Letter:

Dear readers,

Thank you so much for reading Part I of "The Minecraft Story". I began Part I on May 9, 2024. And today, five months later on October 9, 2024, Part I has concluded. I'm so happy and grateful to the many people who have enjoyed my story so far. And don't worry, this isn't the end. It's simply the beginning. I can't wait to get started on Part II. However, I do have to give some bad news. I've been working hard on Part I and have written 60 chapters the past five months. I am going to be taking a short break from writing. I don't know for sure how long the break will be, but it will likely be at least a month. However, to say sorry for leaving you off this long, I will drop the first 5 chapters of Part II when I come back. Again, thank you all for reading my story and I will be back soon with more.

Sincerely,
