Anne, Sonic and the Planters continued to stare in horror at the metal-infested apocalypse that used to be the peaceful grasslands of Amphibia. Armies of frog robot soldiers marched through the many factories, production plants were leaking toxic goo into the water and ginormous beetle machines were steamrolling the homes of many citizens.
"Tell me your world isn't usually like this." Sonic pleaded.
"Never." Sprig replied.
"Good. Because if you intended to bring me to a wasteland world, that'd be absolutely terrible of you guys." Sonic commented.
"What happened to this place?" Anne asked with a sad look.
"Quick! Back to Wartwood!" Hop Pop told everyone as he gestured to the path behind them, prompting them all to rush down it.
But when they all arrived at the Plantars' home town, Wartwood, they were disheartened to find that it was almost completely destroyed.
"Not here, too!" Hop Pop exclaimed sadly.
"What?!" Sprig questioned in shock.
"Even the statue's gone!" Polly stated.
"It'd official. We're living in the apocalypse now." Sonic admitted before they heard a strange munching noise.
When the group turned to the source, they saw something large eating one of the destroyed houses and it raised up to show it was a ginormous centipede creatures with glowing purple eyes and a metal collar around its neck.
"Uh…nice giant centipede." Anne said nervously.
"Everybody stay still. It probably can't see us if we don't move." Sonic whispered, staying perfectly still.
Unfortunately, this tactic didn't work as the centipede screeched loudly at its new prey and Anne screamed out in fear. Acting fast, Sonic did a spin dash attack on the centipede that nailed it in the head and caused it to crash against the ground while the blue hedgehog landed on his feet.
"And Sonic sticks a perfect landing!" Sonic remarked proudly. "Give him a round of applause, everybody!"
"Yeah! That's my favourite blue hedgehog!" Polly cheered.
"He's the only blue hedgehog we know." Sprig replied, causing his sister to look away with a pout.
However, the centipede got back up and it snarled down at Sonic.
"Oh crud." Sonic muttered, sweating a bit.
"Sonic, look out!" Sprig called.
But before the centipede could attack the blue hedgehog, a laser beam suddenly shot it from behind and the gang quickly got out of the way when the giant insect fell to the ground. Anne and Sonic managed to see that the laser came from a human-looking individual carrying a laser-like weapon over their shoulder and they had a helmet over their head, along with three shorter figures accompanying them on a roof.
"Okay, those guys seem like slightly trustworthy ones." Sonic admitted.
The centipede woke up and the collar around it's neck broke off, causing the purple glow in the insect's eyes to fade away before it crawled off and dug it's way underground.
"What the…" Anne said in bewilderment before she turned to the armored individuals approaching them. "Hey, thanks. Whoever you are?"
"You'd better not be here to place us on the front hoods of cars for looking more vicious." Sonic said, stepping back a bit.
The three shorter individuals removed their helmets and revealed themselves to be three familiar frog people that Anne and the Plantars have known for a long time, One-Eyed Wally, Mrs Croaker with her pet spider, Archie, and Loggle the woodcarver, who was looking much more muscular than he normal does.
"Well, salt my slugs! It's you four!" Mrs Croaker remarked as Archie let out a pair of happy barks.
"And ya brought some kind of freaky blue mouse person back, as well!" Wally added as he pointed at Sonic.
"I'm a hedgehog, froggy hillbilly." Sonic replied with a blank frown.
"Croaker! Wally! Loggle?! Is that you?!" Anne asked in shock, not expecting Loggle to be so ripped.
"Yep! I've been lifting weights every single day since you've been gone." Loggle replied while flexing his muscles. "Who knew I had these kinds of gains in me all along?"
"Well, you're definitely looking macho at the moment." Sonic quipped, a bit impressed.
"What is going on around here?" Hop Pop questioned.
"What was that thing?!" Sprig asked shockingly, referring to the giant centipede.
"Loggle's buff now?!" Polly asked in total disbelief.
"But here's the most important question. Who's the human-looking person with the furry cape and knight helmet?" Sonic questioned curiously as said figure walked past the three armored Wartwood residents.
"I don't believe it." The figure said in a female voice before she took off her helmet to reveal herself as a blonde teenage human girl that Anne knew for a long time. "You're…You're back!"
"Hangout Queen?" Sonic asked, surprised and glad at the same time.
"Sasha!" Anne exclaimed before she talked her old friend into a big hug. "You're alive! And in Wartwood? What's going on? What happened?"
"Follow me and I'll explain." Sasha replied as she looked into the distance, until she noticed Sonic standing next to her Thai-American friend. "But…who and what is this blue guy?"
"Oh, right! Sasha, say hello to my newest best friend, Sonic The Hedgehog!" Anne introduced with a bright smile.
"It's super cool to finally meet you, Hangout Queen. AKA Sasha." Sonic said, grinning cooly at the blonde girl.
"Uh…yeah." Sasha replied before she leaned to Anne. "Can you try explaining a bit more to me, Anne?"
"Right. In short, he's actually the mysterious creature Crazy Carl's always rambling about back home." Anne told her.
"Wait, the Blue Devil?" Sasha asked as her eyes widened in surprise. "He's that blueberry-coloured hedgehog staring at me right now?"
"He sure is." Anne replied.
"And let me just say that it's absolutely great to meet the teenage golden-head who's always planning the coolest hangout activities for her two other friends and who I've been watching for many days." Sonic commented.
"Wow. Can't believe the two of us and Marcy had a secret admirer this whole time." Sasha quipped.
"Trust me, you have no idea how long I've waited to personally meet you." Sonic replied. "So, do you mind catching us up to date with this whole Amphibia Armageddon age and why you and your frog friends are dressed like middle-aged Rebel Alliance members?"
"We're technically her soldiers." Wally said.
"Just come with us, blue guy." Sasha told Sonic. "You'll know about everything, soon."

Later on, Anne, Sonic, Sasha and their frog friends arrived at the log-made building that was the Planter family farm house and they approached the front door, where the local tulip-loving frog, Chuck, was sitting casually in a chair.
"Chuck." Sasha greeted.
"Tulip." Chuck saluted with a tip of his hat.
"Hey, pleasure to be here. So what's your usually hobby in this world?" Sonic asked enthusiastically.
"Tulips." Chuck said in a simple way, leaving Sonic a bit confused.
"It's just how he is, dude." Anne told the blue hedgehog.
The group then entered the Plantars' house as Sprig, Hop Pop and Polly looked around their ruined home.
"Woah." Sprig said, a little depressed by how damaged his family home was.
"Wait, our house is your secret hideout?" Hop Pop questioned.
"Only the basement." Sasha replied as she walked in and pressed her fist on a picture above the fireplace, making a secret door appear behind the walls and a bunch of stairs led downward.
"No way! The Plantar Family tunnels?" Sprig asked surprisingly.
"I mean, a secret underground tunnel is way better at being a rebel base than a wrecked farm." Sonic admitted. "No offence."
"A little bit taken." Hop Pop replied.
"Come on." Sasha told the others as they walked into the tunnels.
When they arrived at the bottom, Anne, Sonic and the Plantars let out amazed words and their eyes widened like plates on a table at the scene in front of them.
"Welcome to the Resistance!" Sasha announced, gesturing to the underground camp in front.
It was filled with many frogs arming themselves with weapons, local food or resources shops and even some younger frog people being trained by Sasha's close toad friend and former captain of the toad army, Grime.
"If there's one way to describe my feelings, it's absolutely amazed to my heart." Sonic said in awe.
"Alright, let's get you up to speed." Sasha said as they all walked down a tunnel pathway, with Anne and Sonic getting close to the blonde girl for conversation. "Marcy has been taken prisoner, but she's still alive."
"Oh, thank goodness." Anne sighed in relief.
"You mean Clumsy Brains?" Sonic asked.
"Yeah. What's with you and these weird nicknames?" Sasha questioned with a weirded expression.
"He's just been using them ever since the day he started spying on us." Anne replied. "So, what happened to the town?"
"What do you think? Andrias destroyed it." Sasha told her as they arrived at the main part of the base. "Now let's get you settled."
The group soon got into onto a pedestal that held Wartwood's signature statue as Sasha blew into a horn, signalling all the residents of Wartwood to gather around for what she had to say.
"Attention, Wartwood! I'd like to introduce some new recruits!" Sasha announced, prompting Anne, Sonic and the Planters to appear from behind the statue.
"Hey!" Anne greeted.
"Hi, guys!" Sprig added.
"What's up, my froggies!" Sonic called with a grin.
"It's Anne and the Plantars!" The frogs exclaimed happily as the Plantars snail pet, Bessie, let out some happy chirps as well.
"And they've brought some blue fuzzy mole thing with them!" Ivy Sundew stated, pointing at Sonic.
"I don't think we get any of his kind around here!" Maddie Flour added.
"I'm a hedgehog, not a mole. And my name's Sonic, AKA the fastest thing alive." Sonic introduced himself.
"Really? How fast are ya?" Stumpy the cook asked in curiosity.
"A challenge, eh? I except." Sonic said with a smile before he zoomed away and returned immediately with a pair of swords in his hands. "For a bunch of town frogs, you guys have some super deadly weapons."
The Wartwood residents were very amazed and shocked by Sonic's amazing speed.
"He said he was the fastest thing alive." Anne reminded.
"And he was right!" Wally exclaimed.
"Anne, Sonic and the Plantars here came back to Amphibia just in time. To help us kick Andrias right in the big ol' tail!" Sasha remarked, causing the frogs of Wartwood to cheer in response.
"That's right! Your saviours are here!" Sonic announced heroically.
"Don't overdue it, dude." Anne replied as Sasha approached them with some small bags.
"Here. Go find yourselves a nice cave to inhabit." Sasha said, giving each of the team a bag.
"A cave sounds cool. I did live in one for most of my Earth life." Sonic admitted as Hop Pop sighed sadly and took out a stick made to look like a toothbrush.
"I sure am gonna miss the electric toothbrush." The elderly frog said.
"Cheer up, Hop Pop. Maybe we can find a cave with some wolf lichen to sleep on." Sprig replied in a positive mood.
"And if you want, I'll give you guys all the tips on how to turn a cave into a luxury home." Sonic added.
Hop Pop only groaned in sadness as he, Sprig and Polly walked away.
"Catch you girls later. I'm still gonna want to do more cool things with you, Hangout Queen." Sonic commented, zooming away in the blink of an eye.
Anne and Sasha were now alone as they both looked at each other in awkward silence, remembering how intense things got with them back at Andrias' castle before the Thai-American girl and the Plantars were sent back to Earth. Anne then cleared up her throat to say what she was feeling at the moment.
"So, about what happened before we got zapped to Earth and met Sonic for the first time." Anne said, smiling sheepishly.
"Listen, my days of toxic manipulation are over. And with Amphibia on fire and Marcy in trouble, I figured we could be on the same side for a change." Sasha said sincerely.
"Totally! We'll work out our own baggage later." Anne replied as they both shook hands, only for the front hood of Sasha's helmet fell down as Anne giggled at the sight. "What's with the hat?"
"Ah ha! The helmet of authority." Sasha answered, straightening her headgear out. "Apparently, Wartwood busts this out during wartimes so everyone knows who's in charge. Which reminds me…"
When the blonde girl removed her helmet, she handed it out for Anne and she was left very surprised.
"What?!" Anne asked shockingly.
"Wartwood has only been able to hold out this long because they were waiting for you, Anne." Sasha explained. "You stood up for them. You protected them. It's time for you to lead them."
"I don't know. Amphibia's changed a lot since I've been gone." Anne replied with an unsure expression. "Should I really be the one doing this?"
"All in favour of Anne Boonchuy as your new leader!" Sasha shouted to the Wartwood residents, ignoring Anne's uncertainty.
All the frogs cheered enthusiastically for Anne and chanted her name in response as the Thai-American girl had no choice but to accept the helmet from Sasha.
"Oh, wow! This is a huge honour! Also, a lot of pressure." Anne said with a nervous smile, causing the crowd to cheer even more for her. "Yeah, that's actually not helping."
Just then, Sonic zoomed up on the pedestal in between Anne and Sasha.
"Hold up! My best human friend is getting promoted to leader of an entire rebel army?!" Sonic asked in astonishment, putting on a big smile. "Now that's what I call amazing!"
"Thanks for the praise, Sonic." Anne replied.
"In fact, I wanna get my own promotion right now! Consider me Lieutenant Sonic the Hedgehog, the right hand guy of Anne!" Sonic proclaimed proudly, causing the crowd to look at him in silence.
"Should that happen?" Anne asked Sasha in quietness.
"Eh, I don't really see any harm in letting a talking blue hedgehog be your second in command. Besides, you two seem good with each other." Sasha replied before turning to the Wartwood residents. "Alright, Resistance, we're officially allowing our new member, Sonic, be Anne's lieutenant!"
The Wartwood residents all cheered happily as this made it clear they were all in agreement with having Sonic be Anne's lieutenant.
"Thank you, Wartwood! We're gonna win this war and beat down King Andrias in the slimy backside!" Sonic announced in determination. "And I'll even hand out chili dogs when we win!"
"Okay, now I'm under more pressure." Anne muttered to herself.

After getting settled in, Anne, Sonic and the Plantars followed Sasha into a main chamber behind some curtains as there were maps of Amphibia and a few salvaged weapons. Sasha stood behind a table and placed a piece of the giant centipede's broken collar on it.
"I'm sure you've seen the mind control collars that Andrias has been using to control the local wildlife." Sasha told the others before pointing on a specific part of a map on the table. "Well, it turns out he's making them here."
"The big bad guy's using mind control? That's very original." Sonic said sarcastically.
"How do these things even work?" Anne asked, picking up the collar piece.
"It utilises some kind of weird mushroom enzyme." Sasha replied.
"Gee, I wonder where I've heard that before." Sprig snarked before he, Anne and Polly looked at Hop Pop with annoyed frowns.
"I turned ya into zombies one time!" Hop Pop complained.
"Wait, zombies?" Sonic repeated in surprise and confusion.
"We'll explain everything later." Anne said.
"The mission is simple. Destroy the factory." Sasha instructed, stabbing a dagger into the map. "If we're successful, it'll make a big dent in Andrias' army."
"Alright, let's do it!" Anne said in confidence.
"Perfect planning as always, Hangout Queen. That's what I like about ya." Sonic complimented, making Sasha blush a bit.
"Really? Thanks, I guess." Sasha replied.
"Great! I'll call us a taxi app!" Polly stated before she started typing on Anne's phone.
"Polly, that's not gonna work." Anne replied.
"Ugh, fine! I guess we'll work!" Polly whined annoyingly.
"I'd be there in about five minutes flat before you guys could make a mile." Sonic boasted.
"I'll time you on that, blue boy." Anne said, smiling smugly at him.
"Anyone got any hand sanitiser? I never noticed how dirty Amphibia was." Hop Pop said, showing his hands to be covered in dirt and gunk.
"Don't worry, HP. I've got you." Sprig replied as he brought out a pink bottle and poured sparkly hand sanitising liquid on his grandfather's hands.
"Wow. Earth made you three soft." Sasha said, a little disappointed. "Anyway, get some sleep, everyone. We leave at dawn!"
"You got it." Hop Pop replied.
"See you in the morning." Sprig added.
"Aye, aye, captain!" Polly stated.
"We're gonna be fit and ready for combat, Hangout Queen. Working with you is gonna be a blast." Sonic quipped with a cool smile.
"You can just call me Sasha, dude." Sasha replied casually.
"Got it!" Sonic nodded.
Anne moved the curtains away to let the Plantars out of the chamber before she and Sonic ended up coming across Grime, who was just walking into the chamber himself.
"Hey, Grime!" Anne greeted.
"Welcome, Anne…" Grime replied before he noticed her holding the helmet. "I mean, uh…Commander."
"I know. Weird, right?" Anne asked before gesturing to her blue hedgehog friend. "Also, you haven't met Sonic yet."
"Not at all. So, you're the super fast blue hedgehog creature Sasha told me about?" Grime asked curiously.
"You got that right. And from what Anne told me, you're the super scary and ruthless toad captain that's tried to kill her and my froggy friends on a few occasions." Sonic added with his arms crossed.
"Those were simple misunderstandings!" Grime quickly replied, sweating a bit.
"I know, I'm just pointing out all the things my best human friend told me." Sonic reassured. "Anyway, I hope to start kicking some serious butt with you in this war. As Anne's personal lieutenant, I'll make sure it happens."
"I'm hoping we'll have glorious battles together as well, blue rodent." Grime said, smiling a bit. "Your thirst for conflict is something I like."
"Yeah, you two'll have fun times later." Anne said before she and Sonic walked away, leaving Sasha and Grime alone with some silence for a few seconds.
"…You gave Anne the helmet?!" Grime asked in total disbelief.
"Yeah. If Anne is here, I can't be in charge." Sasha replied in a casual tone, learning her head against her hand. "It's just too complicated. Plus, Sonic's around to help her out as her lieutenant."
"But…But she's never led an army! And she has no idea how much Amphibia has changed or what we're up against! I don't even think that letting a teenage blue mouse-thingy become a lieutenant is a wise choice, either!" Grime protested.
"I said it's complicated!" Sasha argued with a stern scowl, her voice sounding a little more demonic at the end.
"Fine! Just would've been nice to know I was demoted. Again!" Grime complained before leaving, causing Sasha to sigh and lean back in her chair.

In the morning, Anne was outside of the Resistance hideout with the Plantars, Sonic, Sasha, Wally, Mrs Croaker and Loggle to prepare for their mission to destroy the collar factory.
"Okay, guys-" Anne didn't get to finish her prepping speech when her helmet's hood lowered over her eyes, causing her to quickly lift it back up. "Heh, whoops. Let's go show Andrias what we're made of!"
"We're with ya, Anne! We'll frog-bot butt and continue the revolution against evil!" Sonic announced, trying to sound heroically.
"Which way, Commander?" Mrs Croaker asked.
"Oh. Uh…no idea." Anne admitted, much to everyone's dismay.
"Oh! Didn't you take a picture of the map?" Sprig suggested.
"Shoot! Dang it! Totally forgot!" Anne scowled frustratingly.
"No worries, I'll speed down to the base and grab it in a sec!" Sonic reassured, preparing to zoom back inside.
"No need! Here's the map, Anne." Sasha stated as she took out the map in her hands and gave it to Anne. "With all the important parts labeled."
"Way to ruin my moment." Sonic mumbled, crossing his arms in a grumpy way.
"Oh. Thanks, Sash!" Anne said kindly. "But are you sure you shouldn't be leading this?"
"No way. You should be in charge, not me." Sasha replied with a firm look, causing Anne to groan.
"Are you sure there's not something emotional eating you up inside, Sash? You can tell dear old Sonic." Sonic told the blonde girl, smiling in a cheeky way.
"No way. It ain't your buisness." Sasha answered.
"Suit yourself." Sonic shrugged.
"Come on, Anne. You can do this!" Sprig encouraged, hopping on the Thai-American girl's shoulder. "You steered us from Earth all the way back to Amphibia, didn't you? And you gave Sonic his own home after helping him beat that Robotnik guy. Just follow your Anne-Tuition!"
"Anne-Tuition. Cute." Anne said with a smile. "Okay then, here goes nothing!"
"Its mission time, people!" Sonic announced in excitement.

The scene started to show a montage of the team making their way to the collar factory, with a few bumps in the road happening as well. First, Anne attempted to drink some water from a lake, only for Sasha and Sonic to direct her to a nearby toxic waste factory nearby. The factory spewed some green gunk at the team and Sonic had to quickly zoom everyone away from its range. Next, the Plantars watched a drama show on Anne's phone that made them cry as they didn't notice they were waking towards some quicksand. Sonic acted fast by zooming in front of the Plantars and shoving them away to a safer distance, causing everyone to praise the blue hedgehog before a squadron of Frobots showed up and ruined Sonic's happy moment by firing their lasers at the heroes. Finally, Anne looked through a telescope to see some steamrolling beetle machines approaching in the distance, but this was only because she looked out the wrong way and the team was forced to run away from the steamroller machines.
(Linebreak)
In the end, the team managed to make it out of the forest and they saw the collar factory ahead of them while panting exhaustingly.
"There's the factory." Hop Pop said as they all saw it was out of their reach by a deep trench with sharp stone spikes at the bottom.
"Okay, this is way more harder than I expected." Sonic admitted.
"How do we get across, Anne?" Loggle asked the Thai-American girl.
"Yeah. What's your Anne-Tuition telling you?" Wally questioned.
"Hmmm…well…" Anne said thoughtfully, trying to come up with a good idea for getting over the trench.
From behind, Sasha pulled out a grappling hook gun to show it was her idea for getting to the factory and hoped Anne would think of the same thing. However, Anne thought of something much different.
"How about we build a bridge? Out of ourselves!" Anne suggested as she brought out a piece of paper that displayed some mice getting to some food on a distant table. "I saw it in a movie once. All these tiny mice worked together to steal some Oregano from a French restaurant."
"So you basically want us to do a Ratatouille stunt?" Sonic questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Exactly." Anne replied.
"Uh…you heard the Commander, everyone! Hop to it!" Sasha told the team, seeming a bit unsure.
The Planters, Wally, Mrs Croaker and Loggle all climbed ontop of each other's shoulders and they formed a tall ladder together, with Anne, Sonic and Sasha watching from the sidelines.
"This is gonna end a bit disastrous, right?" Sonic asked the blonde girl.
"Most likely." Sasha admitted.
"I probably could've just zoom-jumped everyone on the other side, but that grappling hook seemed like a nice plan as well." Sonic said, smiling at Sasha. "That's one of the things I like best about you, Hangout Queen. Your plans are always the coolest and most fun."
"You really think that? Gee, I must be a nice planner then." Sasha muttered while rubbing the back of her head, with a little bit of sarcasm detected in her voice.
"You certainly are." Sonic replied.
"Alright, everyone, now lean forward into the canyon!" Anne instructed as her frog friends moved towards the trench in their ladder formation.
"Nice! Did you measure the width of the canyon?" Sasha asked.
"No, why?" Anne questioned.
Before she could realise her mistake, the frogs all started screaming as they started falling into the trench of shape rocks before Sprig quickly grabbed a stick on the wall to keep them above.
"I knew if! This was really bad!" Sonic stated in a panic.
"Guys!" Sasha exclaimed before she brought out her grappling gun and grabbed onto Anne. "Hang on."
Sasha fired her grappling gun at the other side of the trench and it managed to hook onto the factory before it carried her and Anne to the other side. Sonic simply sped right up to the edge and leaped right over it with his great speed, landing beside the girls.
"Take my hand, Long Tongue!" Sonic called out to Sprig, reaching his hand out to him.
Sprig used his tongue to grab Sonic's hand and the blue hedgehog pulled up his frog friends with some help from Anne and Sasha, causing them all to roughly land on the factory's ground surface.
"Anyone else think this is going poorly?" Loggle asked in exhaustion.
"Well, with everything we've been dealing with like toxic factory gunk, evil frog robots and a bunch of hungry insects, I'd say this whole mission has been completely going downhill for us from the get-go." Sonic proclaimed, rubbing his arm a bit.
"The blue fuzzy fello is right. We're usually a lot more coordinated than this." Wally agreed.
"I think it's clear by now I shouldn't be leading this expedition." Anne declared, standing straight up and faced her blonde friend. "Sasha, will you please just take command and tell us what to do?"
"No! You need to be in charge!" Sasha argued.
"What? What do you mean?! I'm drowning out here and Sonic's constantly pulling me back up, dude! Do you want me to fail?" Anne questioned rhetorically before she gasped in harshness. "Is that what this is? Some kind of new manipulation?"
"No! I just…I…" Sasha stuttered in worridness, unable to come up with a good excuse.
"Hold up, just a minute!" Sonic called, earning the two girls' attention. "What's all this talk manipulation I'm hearing about here?"
"Uh…well…" Sasha muttered awkwardly.
"Sonic, you see…" Anne said with a sheepish smile, finding it tough to explain everything to Sonic.
"Didn't Anne ever tell you about what Sasha's usually like?" Sprig asked the blue hedgehog.
"Uh, no. We only talked about how the two of them and Clumsy Brains got here in the first place." Sonic replied confusingly.
"Oh, well I can tell you." Sprig offered.
"Sprig, don't do it!" Anne stated lowly.
"Shut up, twerp!" Sasha hissed through her teeth.
"You see, Sasha would usually push Anne around into doing whatever she wanted, make her take the blame for anything bad she'd do or just outright stabbing her in the back to make thins go her way. It was mostly whenever she said 'end of discussion' at times." Sprig explained casually, not noticing the look on Sonic's face changing to one of shock. "Like this one time where Sasha manipulated all of us into get her to Newtopia and then she-"
Sprig soon trailed off when he finally saw that Sonic had a look of shock, disbelief and anger on his face as everyone else was signalling the frog boy to shut up behind.
"And…I think I've said a bit too much." Sprig said, sweating nervously.
"Ya think, bro?!" Polly asked with a glare as Sonic slowly turned towards Anne and Sasha with Gus shocked and angry look.
"What's with the unhappy look, blue boy?" Sasha asked, feeling a bit timid.
"You've been an absolute toxic control freak to Anne and Clumsy Brains your whole life?!" Sonic asked outrageously.
"Well…kinda. But, that hasn't always been the case in the past!" Sasha proclaimed.
"Oh really?! You've never always just seen your two best friends as a bunch of disposable servants for you to use whenever you want?!" Sonic asked with a glare.
"Of course not!" Sasha stated. "I was…just thinking differently then!"
"Uh, guys?" Anne asked, hopping to ease things up.
"I always thought you were the greatest planner in the world who's always planning amazing things for Frog Princess and Clumsy Brains, not being a tyrannical dictator to them!" Sonic shouted, making Sasha gain a hurtful expression.
"I hate to burst this heated conversation, but we're also usually a lot quieter than this." Wally admitted before the factory spewed out purple smoke and the doors then opened up, where a pair of purple glowing eyes appeared within the darkness.
Slithering out of the factory was a very large orange and dark-blue snake with a silver helmet on its head, armor on its scales and a mind-control collar around its neck. The giant snake hissed at the group with deadly intent as they all screamed in fright.
"Everyone, attack!" Anne ordered.
"What kind of attack?" Loggle asked.
"Just whatever feels right!" Anne stated as the Plantars and other frogs charged at the armored snake.
However, the frogs were all bashed away by the snake before they could even attack it. Anne brought out her tennis racket and charged at the giant snake for her own attack, but even she was bashed away by the giant reptile as she landed in front of Sasha and Sonic as the blue hedgehog was still glaring at the blonde girl.
"You know what? I was wrong about you! You're not the Hangout Queen at all! You're more like the Jerk Queen!" Sonic berated.
"Have you noticed we're fighting for our lives against a giant snake, here?!" Sasha asked rhetorically before they heard Hop Pop let out a terrified scream.
"What happened?!" Anne asked in worridness, turning to her frog family.
"I got a grass stain on my pants!" Hop Pop whined as he showed a green mark on the backside of his pants, much to Anne and Sonic's annoyance.
"Oh! I have Mrs B's stain-remover pen!" Sprig stated, bringing out said pen.
"Soak it in water first!" Polly replied.
"Not the best time, you guys!" Sonic called out.
But then, the giant snake ate the Plantars whole and it immediately did the exact same thing with Croaker and Loggle before swallowing them.
"No!" Anne yelled out in horror. "Sasha, what do we do?!"
"Uh, you're in charge!" Sasha replied, smiling nervously. "Whatever you think is best. You've got this!"
"Newsflash, Jerk Queen, she doesn't! It's like you're wanting us to get killed by letting Anne be a terrible leader!" Sonic argued angrily.
"Dude, that's a bit uncalled for!" Anne replied with a frown.
"You know I'm right about it! Honestly, you would've been better off not being around miss backstabber here!" Sonic retorted as Sasha grew even more intense. "From I recently hear, she's never even been your real friend at all! Just somebody who saw you as a useful tool and never even had a great friendship with you! She only put herself before you and Clumsy Brains! Jerk Queen here is terrible!"
"Do you seriously think I don't know that?!" Sasha asked rhetorically as tears started forming in her eyes, making Anne and Sonic turn to her in shocked silence. "You're right, you blue devil, I'm absolutely terrible! I just kept treating my own friends like tools and never even appreciated them as my real best friends! Anne deserves to be in charge instead of a control freak like me!"
Anne and Sonic only looked at Sasha in stunned silence as the giant snake ate Wally behind them. After a few short and silent seconds, Anne took off the helmet and she looked at her reflection for a moment before putting on a determined look and handing the helmet to Sasha. Before the blonde girl or Sonic could question her decision, Anne started rushing towards the giant snake.
"Anne, wait a sec!" Sonic called.
"What are you doing?" Sasha questioned, surprised by Anne giving her the helmet so suddenly.
"Putting my faith in real Commander and my number one lieutenant!" Anne replied before she jumped up and suddenly got herself eaten by the giant snake.
"HOLY CRUD!" Sonic yelled in a panic.
"WHAT THE HECK, BOONCHUY?!" Sasha cried out.
The snake turned its attention to the two of them and hissed angrily at them, making them both become a bit intimidated and step back a bit.
"Look, I get that you hate my guts right now, but can you just work with me so we can save our friends from being snake food?" Sasha asked in a pleading way.
"…Fine." Sonic replied after giving it much thought. "So how do we get them out?"
"Remember that little body spin thing you did yesterday? Well, how's about you try it again to make mister scaly toss out his lunch?" Sasha suggested with a smile.
"That sounds disgusting and hardcore. I'll do it." Sonic declared confidently.
After Sasha put the helmet back on, she brought out her signature dual swords and charged at the giant snake as it lunged right at her with its mouth wide open. Sasha managed to jump back from the snake's jaws and she swung her two swords in its face, causing the giant reptile to hiss in pain and recoil from the attack.
"Lieutenant Sonic, execute your spin dash!" Sasha ordered, causing the blue hedgehog to smile in enthusiasm.
"With pleasure, Commander!" Sonic stated as his body emitted blue electric energy.
Zooming straight up to the giant snake, Sonic curled himself into a ball and did a spin dash attack right into the large reptile's stomach, causing a great amount of pain in its gut as Sonic jumped back next to Sasha.
"Hey! We could feel that in here!" Croaker yelled out from inside the snake's stomach.
The giant snake couldn't take the pain it sustained from Sonic's attack and it puked out Anne, the Planters, Wally, Croaker and Loggle as they were covered in reptile saliva.
"Wow, you guys definitely need a shower later on." Sonic quipped.
"Thanks." Polly replied sarcastically.
"Sonic, Sasha, you two did it!" Anne remarked.
"Not yet. Wally, Croaker, Loggle, mirror punch!" Sasha ordered.
The three frogs nodded in response as Loggle tossed Wally and Croaker at the giant snake and they both punched its collar at the same time from different areas. The mind control collar ended breaking apart and the giant snake shook its head to snap itself out of the mind control before slithering away, while the team cheered for their victory.
"Team heroes, one! Giant snake monster, zero!" Sonic stated with a victorious grin.
"What's the plan now?" Croaker asked as everyone turned their attention to Anne.
"Don't look at me. You're wearing the helmet." Anne told Sasha, who smirked in response.
"Loggle, you're on bridge duty. Croaker and Wally are lookouts. Anne, Sonic, Plantars, you know what to do with these." Sasha instructed as she handed the main group some Boomshrooms.
"Are you serious? I am not fond of mushrooms." Sonic said with an annoyed frown.
"Oh, you're gonna love these kinds of shrooms." Anne assured.
"Alright, let's mess this place up!" Sasha stated before they all got to work.
Anne, Sonic and the Plantars planted the Boomshrooms on the right places of the factory and they ran away once they were finished. Loggle had surprisingly built a very fabulous bridge in just a few minutes and the team all crossed it to the other side as the Boomshrooms exploded, destroying the factory in the process.
"Okay, I officially like the exploding mushrooms!" Sonic remarked after watching the explosion from afar.

As the team walked back to their base, Anne and Sasha were having another discussion about the position of Commander with Sonic trailing behind a bit.
"Come on, Anne. Take the helmet back." Sasha insisted while holding the metal headgear.
"No way! You're clearly the better commander." Anne proclaimed.
"But after everything I did to you, I don't deserve it. Like Sonic said, I've always put myself before you and Marcy." Sasha replied, looking away in guilt.
Hearing this made Sonic gain a regretful look, knowing he said many things about the blonde girl earlier.
"Sasha, not too long ago, you would have fought to keep the helmet. The you don't want it now proves you changed." Anne told her.
"Yeah, maybe." Sasha said with a small smile before Anne grabbed her hand and raised it.
"All in favour of Sasha Waybright as your new leader?" Anne asked.
"Let's here some votes everybody!" Sonic called.
"Oh yes!" Mrs Croaker quickly agreed.
"Oh frog! Please, Sasha!" Wally begged.
"We need you!" Loggle added.
"Looks like the frogs have spoken." Sonic quipped as Sasha put the helmet back on while blushing a bit.
"Listen, Anne, even though I'm calling the shots, I want you to know this is a partnership. Same thing goes for Sonic." Sasha assured, holding her hand out to her best friend.
Anne accepted her friend's hand and pulled her in for a hug while squealing happily, which Sasha gratefully returned before they soon parted. Sonic cleared his throat a bit as stepped to Sasha a bit.
"Hey listen, I just wanna say I'm sorry for everything I said." Sonic apologised, twiddling his fingers a bit. "It was a bit uncool."
"It's fine, pal. I deserved it." Sasha reassured. "And if Anne can become fast friends with a speedy fuzzball like you, then so can I. What do you say?"
"You had me at fast friend, Hangout Queen." Sonic replied with a kind smile, which was enough to make Sasha happy as she knew she and Sonic were back on good terms. "So, do I still get to be Lieutenant?"
"Of course. Alright, you frogs, back to base." Sasha said as she and her crew walked ahead, leaving Sonic, Anne and the Plantars by themselves.
"Looks like this is our life now, guys." Anne told her frog family, who had exhausted expressions.
"House guest to Resistance grunt is a harsh transition." Hop Pop said with a sigh.
"Yep." Polly agreed.
"You can say that again." Sprig said.
"On the bright side, we get to have a bigger epic adventure with a bunch of new characters in this roster!" Sonic remarked excitedly before he noticed Anne missing one of her shoes. "Uh, Anne? I think you've lost one of your shoes."
"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me!" Anne groaned in complaint. "And you've still got both of yours?!"
"Sure do. These babies are never leaving my toes." Sonic quipped, much to Anne's envy.

Meanwhile on another world that was currently dark and mainly jungle infested, two unidentified figures that had slightly similar body types to Sonic were seen trekking through the area with some makeshift bags around their shoulders and they stopped at an open area.
"This looks like a good place to move out." The first figure said, sounding very much like a girl.
"You said it, sis. We're moving from our old home and going into a whole new one." The second figure replied, sounding like a cool guy. "But still, do you really think we're gonna find him at where we last detected him?"
"I know we're gonna find him, bro. We just need to hope he's not in any serious trouble." The female figure commented before she brought out a small ring just like the ones Sonic has.
"If he is, we'll probably get him out of it." The male figure chuckled jokingly.
The female figure tossed her ring out and it grew into a portal leading into Amphibia itself before both of the figures jumped right through, allowing the ring portal to close up.
The Sonic 3 trailer was awesome and worth the wait! Can't wait to see Shadow in action again after so long!
