Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, everybody realized just how screwed they were after Malefor completed the Darkhold. Meanwhile, in Cynder's dreams, she and Ignitus discussed why she's just now finding out that Malefor is her father. After that discussion happened though, Lilith of all people entered her dreams, trying to help Cynder stop Malefor. Though before Cynder woke, she could only give the hint that Agatha Harkness was somehow the key. What exactly does that mean? Read on to quite possibly start discovering...

(Our scene opens in the middle of the night, but not with Cynder, rather with Scarlet Witch at Agatha Harkness' shrine. Clearly Wanda regrets something with her former mentor, and as she sighs, Cynder walks up)

Cynder: I miss her too, Wanda.

Scarlet Witch: At least you weren't the reason she died.

Cynder: It wasn't your fault, Wanda.

(At this point, the familiar spectre of Agatha Harkness materializes next to Scarlet Witch)

Agatha Harkness: Cynder speaks the truth.

Scarlet Witch: (Reacting to the voice) Agatha? Are you... here?

Agatha Harkness: (A little caught off guard) I'm... right next to you, Wanda. Can't you see me?

Cynder: (A little surprised at hearing Agatha's voice) Uh, no.

Agatha Harkness: Not ideal, but at least you can hear me.

Scarlet Witch: Agatha, there's so much I want to say to you...

Agatha Harkness: Wanda, please. You are my student, I will not have you bear the burden of my death.

Scarlet Witch: I lost control...

Agatha Harkness: Not before I did. I pushed you too far, too fast.

Scarlet Witch: Even then...

Agatha Harkness: My dear, this isn't the first time you've visited my grave. I've heard everything you've confessed. There's no need to repeat it.

Scarlet Witch: (Sighs with some degree of relief) That's a relief.

Agatha Harkness: I'm glad I could alleviate your mind, Wanda. (To Cynder) And it's a good thing you're here, Cynder. I was looking for you.

Cynder: Strangely, Agatha, so was I. I just had the strangest visitor in my dreams.

Agatha Harkness: Lilith. I know.

Scarlet Witch: Wait, what?!

Cynder: Wanda, it's a long story we'll have to get into later.

Agatha Harkness: Not too much later. Chthon grows restless in his slumber. What Lilith told you is right. I can aid you in this fight. But I'll need your help. Both of you.

Scarlet Witch: (A bit hesitant) If there's no other recourse.

Agatha Harkness: My connection to this world is tenuous, but there is a ritual that can bind me to this place. But first, I'll need you to retrieve a... memento.

Cynder: That being...?

Agatha Harkness: I honestly don't know. I just know that Sara has it. Her grief is my strongest connection to this place. Somewhere in her room is a reminder of our bond.

Cynder: So what's the plan then?

Agatha Harkness: The Hunter knows Sara better than anyone. Cynder, if you call on them, they should be able to help you find the item in Sara's chambers.

Scarlet Witch: Then what's my part here?

Agatha Harkness: Observation and distraction.

Scarlet Witch: So I'm the lookout while Cynder goes poking around Sara's room?

Agatha Harkness: I'd do it myself, but, well...

Scarlet Witch: No worries, I can pull this off.

Agatha Harkness: Thank you. Now, I need you to promise me something, Sara must not know about this ritual until it is completed.

Cynder: Why?

Agatha Harkness: The more she knows, the less likely it'll be that we can pull this off. Everybody else? Fair game. Just not her.

Cynder: I think we can pull this off.

(With an approving nod, Agatha Harkness disappears, not like anyone else can tell)

Scarlet Witch: So we need to sneak into Caretaker's room and steal one of her heirlooms before she can notice. Let's get at this before I change my mind.

Cynder: That makes two of us.

(And with that, Cynder and Scarlet Witch head out to pull of their plan as our scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good place to end for now. So, Agatha does have a part to play in stopping Malefor's new scheme. Though now we need to pull off a ritual to make it work. And to do that, they need to steal an heirloom from Caretaker. Seems a little suspicious. What exactly is going on? And is this heist going to work out? Tune in next time to find out!
