Welcome back to Ashes of Midnight. Last time, Cynder, Captain America and Wolverine made their way through a set of HYDRA tunnels deep in Mount Wundagore, searching for the mysterious Project Gottmorder. And after fighting off a troupe of Lilin, the mysterious relic was found, underneath a giant effigy of Red Skull's face. And it turns out Project Gottmorder is just a dagger. But when it was removed from the case, by Wolverine smashing the glass, Cynder got transfixed on the thing for a moment, as if Chthon was calling out to The Hunter within her. Wolverine snaps her out of it and the trio starts running for it. So what awaits as they flee the scene? Read on to discover... (Fair warning, this chapter is going to be a bit shorter than usual)

(Our scene opens up with Cynder, Captain America, and Wolverine running straight out of the HYDRA tunnels, spotting a helicopter painted with Crossbones' symbol)

Captain America: (Spying the helicopter) Crossbones' chopper!

Wolverine: (Spotting something in the air) Things are about get worse!

Cynder: (Looking at Mount Wundagore ahead) You're telling me! That mountain looks like its' about to blow with mystic energy!

Wolverine: It's bad, but that's not what I was talking about. Look at what's coming!

(And sure enough, something does come flying out of the sky right at the group, and much to their chagrin, it's Fallen Hulk)

Cynder: And just when I didn't think it could get worse.

(Fallen Hulk wastes no time and immediately throws Crossbones' chopper at them, but thankfully misses as the trio prepares for battle)

Captain America: And this is why we put in the code!

(The battle is on at this point, and just like every time they battle Fallen Hulk, it doesn't go well. Fallen Hulk is still almost invulnerable, and before anybody knows it, the trio is backed up against a broken bridge.)

Wolverine: (Realizing they're about to fall) Running out of options here!

Cynder: Not to mention space!

(With that, Fallen Hulk stomps one foot, almost sending the heroes' perch into the gap below)

Fallen Hulk: One chance, Cynder. Return with me to The Master, and I will spare what remains of your friends.

Wolverine: Man I am missing the torn purple pants days!

Cynder: It may be our only chance.

Wolverine: Chance?! That's a monster, kid. (To Fallen Hulk) So come on, Ugly. Let's finish this!

Fallen Hulk: Finish this, Logan? (Laughs evilly) GLADLY!

(And with one stomp, Fallen Hulk sends Spyro, Captain America, and Wolverine plunging into the abyss below. But thankfully just as everyone is about to hit the river, a Limbo portal opens up, undoubtedly from Magik, and the trio falls through it, saving their necks as Fallen Hulk looks on, now even angrier that his foes escaped. With that view done, the scene transitions back to The Abbey, where the trio falls right into the path of Spyro, Scarlet Witch, and Caretaker.)

Cynder: (Groaning in pain) Well, that could have gone better.

Wolverine: You're telling me, kid.

Captain America: Remind me not to let you recover the artifact next time, Logan.

Spyro: You guys okay?

Cynder: Been better, Spyro. (Pulls out Project Gottmorder) But we did get the thing.

Scarlet Witch: (Containing the dagger in a sphere of chaos magic) I'll get this thing down to Doctor Strange, see if we can't figure it out.

Cynder: Thanks Wanda. In the meantime, I think the three of us need some rest.

Wolverine: And a bottle of scotch.

Cynder: (Rolls her eyes at Wolverine's attempt of a joke) That's your answer for everything.

Captain America: Ah, this is exactly what I love about this team.

(And with that, everybody gets up from their landing spot, and heads inside the Abbey as our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. Yeah it's a little shorter than usual, but there wasn't much left to do with this encounter. But now, they've got Project Gottmorder in their grasp. Though with Cynder's brief transfixion by that cursed looking relic, I'm not sure it's all that good to have it around. Let's just hope they can do something with it to take out Malefor.
