This is Part II of the Veterans Day Special. Last time, after taking a couple hours long nap, Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man informed Yuri that Vulture and Electro were taken out, and filled her in on what they knew Doctor Octopus was planning. Turns out Yuri kind of knew something was up when an explosion was reported in Times Square. But with the information in hand, well almost all of it anyways, Yuri set out to prevent further devastation while the trio headed to stop Scorpion from messing with the reservoir in Central Park. However, they didn't tell Yuri that Mister Negative was after the Devil's Breath antiserum, since their team is already on it and the NYPD is overworked enough in this mess. So, what awaits next? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens in in Central Park, with Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man swinging in, barely defeating a few of Sable's jetpack wearing troops along the way)
Cynder: Since when did Sable have jetpacks?!
Spyro: I meant to tell you once we got done with last night's debacle, but there was A LOT going on!
Spider-Man: Regardless, we're past them. (Looks ahead) And there's the reservoir.
(Landing on a building overlooking the reservoir, the trio of heroes searches for their stinger-tailed foe)
Spyro: No sign of Scorpion.
Cynder: Looks like we might have beat him to the punch.
Spider-Man: I wouldn't say that. Because that's usually when...
(While Spider-Man is speaking, a familiar green suit emerges from the treeline, Scorpion has arrived)
Scorpion: They turn up right behind you!
(Realizing he has the advantage, Scorpion charges into battle. And even though the odds are three to one, he somehow manages to fight the trio off for quite a while, eventually hitting all three of them with his stinger)
Scorpion: Now if it were me, I'd finish the three of you right now. But Octavius is paying, and he wants you all to suffer. Being honest, I respect that.
(And with that, Scorpion leaves, giving each of the trio enough time to realize they've been stung)
Spider-Man: What did he just get us with?!
(And this is where all sense of normalcy just stops, because the poison has started to take effect, causing everybody to hallucinate.)
Spyro: (Hallucinating) Is that... a sea of Dark Aether?
Spider-Man: That or poison. Whatever it is, best to stay out of it.
(At this point, Cynder realizes something, whatever the boys are seeing, she's not. The poison has no effect on her, or at least an effect so minimal that she can fight it off.)
Cynder: Huh, for once Malefor's dark elements come in handy.
(Realizing she's the only one who's sane, Cynder grabs Spyro and Spider-Man, flying them both to higher ground before explaining what's going on)
Cynder: Guys, whatever you're seeing isn't real. It's the poison getting to you.
Spyro: That... explains a lot.
Spider-Man: Use my analysis system, tell me what this stuff is and we can figure out how to stop it.
Cynder: Got it.
(Using her phone to connect to Spider-Man's suit, Cynder soon has the poison identified)
Cynder: Got it. It's an Ovatoxin-A/Baeocystin mixture.
Spider-Man: Great, he upgraded. Now Spyro and I are going to be dealing with nightmares our bodies think are really happening.
Cynder: Then we best get you two an antidote.
Spyro: Assuming there is one.
Spider-Man: Thankfully, there is for this mixture.
Cynder: Say no more. Just tell me what I need and we'll grab it.
Spider-Man: First thing, a natural stimulant. Eclipta Alba extract should do the trick.
Cynder: Should be able to find some at ESU's greenhouse. Just hope the stuff's in season.
(With that, Cynder grabs the two tripping superheroes and flies off towards ESU's greenhouse, and when they arrive, Cynder starts looking around for Eclipta Alba, noting that neither Spyro nor Spider-Man is doing too well)
Cynder: Come on, that plant's got to be around here somewhere!
(As Cynder searches for the plant, we focus in on Spyro, seemingly entering his hallucinating mind as our tale ends for today)
This concludes Part II of the Veterans Day Special. For Part III, head on over to The Injustice Wars. Yeah, this one's a little bit shorter, but that's because I plan to break down the hallucinations into their own chapters. And for those noting, yes, Cynder's Poison element is giving her a bit of resistance to Scorpion's neurotoxin. But will it last long enough to get the boys cured? More on that as things go on. So, what's going through Spyro's mind? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
