Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, the trio of Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder arrived at the Central Park reservoir, but there was no sign of Scorpion. Until he ambushed the trio, getting each of the three with his venom tipped stinger. Cynder, having the Element of Poison, was coping with all of this better, while the guys are hallucinating like crazy as their brain produces nightmares they thing are real. Cynder, being far better off takes charge of finding the antidote components, starting with extract from an Eclipta Alba plant, growing at ESU's greenhouse. Cynder starts looking for the plant, while we focused on Spyro, seemingly entering his mind. So, what awaits? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens in within Spyro's mind, where his mind is placing him at Octavius Industries of all places, leaving him confused)
Spyro: The lab? What am I doing here? (Realizes it) This is the poison, it's got to be the poison. There's no way this can be real...
(At this point, a familiar voice materializes as Spyro prepares to enter the hallucination lab)
Octavius: Who's to say it's not both?
(Spyro opens the door, only to reveal the marshlands he grew up in, though in segments held up by replicas of the prosthetic arm they were working before Octavius became Doctor Octopus, with Octavius standing there, walking through the swampy landscape with Spyro hot on his heels)
Octavius: It's only the hallucinations intensifying. I know you and Peter can get through this.
Spyro: Doc, you sound...
Octavius: Like I did before the neural interface affected my mind? That's what you're thinking. But my obsessions were always there, all the interface did was allow me to fully embrace them.
Spyro: Doc, please, you've got to let us help you. We can fix this...
Octavius: Ah, Spyro. You and Peter both, always trying to shoulder the responsibility. I bet he's hearing the same things in his mind right now. I can't tell you how many times you two's unfettered optimism kept me going when things looked bleak. (Sighs) I'm going to miss you, all of you. I really am.
Spyro: I'm sorry...
Octavius: Sure, you're sorry. But you still let it happen. It makes you wonder where your priorities lie, and if I was ever that important to you. I mean, you offered to fund our research through the Embassy, but never acted upon it.
Spyro: You kept turning us down!
Octavius: You should have pushed harder.
(At this point, the scene transitions back to reality, where Cynder is looking through the ESU greenhouse while Spyro and Spider-Man continue to hallucinate.)
Cynder: (Spies the Eclipta Alba) There it is!
(Wasting no time, Cynder grabs the Eclipta Alba and returns to the others)
Cynder: Alright, I've got it. (Rips off chunks and hands them to Spider-Man and Spyro.) Do with that what you will.
(Spider-Man pulls up his mask and lets the sap from the plant drip onto his tongue, and Spyro does the same. Soon enough the two are slightly more alert)
Spider-Man: That should help for a while, but we'll need the full antitoxin if we're going to make it out.
Cynder: Where do we go then?
Spyro: (Remembers something) One of Harry's research stations was developing a synthetic atropine. Would that help?
Spider-Man: More than you know.
Cynder: Hold on and I'll get us there.
(Wasting no time, Cynder picks up Spyro and Spider-Man and flies off, searching the Oscorp Research Stations for the one Spyro mentioned. For a moment, we focus in on Spider-Man's mind, where Cynder is flying past giant scorpion tails)
Spider-Man: Giant scorpion tails?! What the heck brain?!
(At this point, Spider-Man's phone seems to be ringing, as an illusionary Scorpion calls in)
Scorpion: (Tauntingly) How're you feeling, Spider-Man? Raw panic creeping up your spine?
Spider-Man: How did you get this number?!
Scorpion: You always ask the least interesting questions. It's not how am I calling you, its am I calling you? Maybe I'm just the fevered screams of your dying brain? I wonder what the grape of prophecy is hearing right now?
Spider-Man: Real or not, when we get this poison cured, we're coming for you, Mac.
Scorpion: (Laughs evilly) Big talk for a little arachnid. Have fun chasing pink elephants.
(And with that, Scorpion hangs up as we shift back to reality)
Cynder: (Having heard that entire one sided conversation) Hang on guys, I see the research station up ahead!
(And as Cynder lands, opening the Research Station, she starts looking around for the synthetic atropine while the scene focuses on Spider-Man's mind, ending our tale for today)
And that looks like a good place to wrap up for now. So, looks like Spyro feels a bit guilty about Octavius turning as bad as he did. I can tell you, Spider-Man feels the same if not worse, though we didn't see it. So we'll see what's going through the web-head's mind about all this next time. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
