The walls of the canyon echoed with the deep thrums of massive engines. A colossal truck as tall as two jumbo jets, as wide as a cruise ship, and riding on 3 sets of 4 massive off-road tires, slowly trudged its way in between the sheer stone walls, the ground rumbling in its wake.

An array of turrets lined the underside of the machine, powered by various electrical generators. Atop its roof, one could see three massive spherical containers, each bearing a massive bio-hazard logo.

CALYPSO: Needles, allow me to introduce you to Colossus. I like to throw him in here to spice up the contest, to weed out the weak contestants who simply got lucky.

NEEDLES: Is that supposed to mean something, Calypso?

CALYPSO: I'll leave that for you to decide. Think on it while you play with my toys.

At the rear of the Colossus, a large armored ramp lowered, and a fleet of armored black sedans, each bearing the Calypso Industries logo raced out to meet Sweet Tooth. One of these sedans had a unique blue rocket loaded in a launcher on its trunk.

COLOSSUS BOSS FIGHT

The Colossus fight is divided into 3 phases: Exterior, Interior, and Rooftop.

1. EXTERIOR

The goal of this phase is to destroy all 8 turrets and overload their respective generators. There is a turret located beside each set of wheels, as well as two on the nose of the vehicle. While doing this, you will also have to contend with the constantly spawning sedan enemies. Occasionally, a unique sedan will spawn, carrying a unique weapon known as the "Thunder Rocket"; if this rocket hits you, all of your weapons will be disabled for 5 seconds.

Once a turret has been destroyed, its respective generator will be exposed. Once this happens, you will need to destroy one of the Thunder Rocket sedans, which will drop the unique Thunder Rocket pickup. Unlike its enemy counterpart, this rocket cannot be fired at enemies. Instead, it will automatically lock onto an exposed generator once within range.

Repeat this with the other 7 turrets, and the ramp at the rear of Colossus will lower, allowing you to drive inside, entering the Interior phase.

2. INTERIOR

This phase tasks you with blasting your way through 4 reinforced blast doors as you race way to the upper levels of Colossus. The doors have as much health as an average enemy vehicle, and they are protected by two extremely weak, yet infinitely respawning turrets that can award random weapon pickups when destroyed. There are also several canisters in each room that can award health pickups when destroyed. Fortunately, there are no sedans to fight in this phase.

Once the final blast door has been destroyed, all that remains is to bust through the rooftop entrance to enter the third and final phase.

3. ROOFTOP

The final phase of this fight will see you destroying the three biohazard containers at the front, middle, and rear of Colossus. There are no turrets in this phase, however the sedans will begin appearing, albeit in fewer numbers than in the first phase.

To destroy the containers, you must first destroy the outer shell, exposing the actual storage tank underneath. Once this has been destroyed, the container will explode. This will also coat that tank's respective section in a toxic gas that will slowly damage any vehicle that drives inside it.

Once the third tank has been destroyed, Colossus will finally fall. Well done.

With the chemicals from the tanks unleashed, a chain reaction quickly engulfed Colossus in flames, the explosion shaking the entire canyon. Sweet Tooth raced out of the canyon, dodging falling rocks as flames began to engulf the area. The ice cream barreled out from between the stone walls just as a massive boulder sealed the entrance, and a final explosion shook the earth.

NEEDLES: What a waste of time. What's the point of killing something that can't fear you? Oh, well. At least now, we can get back to the real fun.
