Summary: Gi Hun and the frontman after the rebellion
Episode two: consequences
Gi hun's Pov:
I woke up in a cold sweat, bound to a cushiony black chair. Frantically tried to free myself, but the chains on my wrists and ankles wouldn't budge. I give a final frustrated growl, with an attempt to yank my arms free, but it was futile, only earning myself a few bruises. Lifting my head, I decided to take in my surroundings to see where the Frontman brought me and what he wanted with me. The room is dark, with black will and minimal black furniture. Ware LED lights are up against the feeling wrapping around the room. The main light source is something on the well in front of me, a blinding bright light. Turning to the front, I see a giant TV screen showing live footage of the dormitory and everyone in it.
"Surely you didn't think the obvious cameras were the only ones we had in there, did you?" The Frontman asks, stepping out of the shadows. "But I will admit, this is the first time they have ever come in handy. We connected them to this feed to the control room, which was somewhat annoying."
"YOU MONSTER! YOU KILLED THEM!" I yell, once again thrashing against my restraints.
"You were all warned about what would happen if you didn't return to the room, but instead of listening, your teammate decided to shoot the speaker instead."
"You still shot them dead! You-"
"They were eliminated following your leadership." his voice is icy cold as he pours himself, what I'm assuming is an expensive whisky, into an iced cup, "As far as I'm concerned, you're the one who killed them." He places the drink on the table next to me.
"No, I was trying to save them-"
"Were you also trying to save the people you let get stabbed to death in the middle of the night?" he cuts me off, his unmoving mask and steady voice not betraying any emotion, "you knew what was going to happen the moment you saw that fork, you lived it before. I know you were the one to warn your friends; we saw people hiding under the bed with our infrared cameras. But I guess you needed people actually to die to lead our guards in."
Closing my eyes, I think back to that girl who died looking at me, the betrayal and desperation in her eyes, and her light dimmed out. It was haunting, but at the time, I told myself it was for the greater good so more people could survive. Now, realizing it was all for nothing. "I didn't have a choice," I gritted out desperately,
"We all have a choice, and you chose to take away your teammates' choices by eliminating them." He stared at me for a long moment, almost as if he were contemplating something, and I just stared back, not showing any weakness."Now, don't get me wrong, it was a valiant effort; we haven't had a successful rebellion like that in almost 10 years. Eventually, you just proved the point of the games, that in the end, we're all just desperate animals."
The silence is eerie, void of any sound to calm the people in the room. "What are you going to do to me now? Kill me?"
"That's not for me to decide."
"That's right; you are also just their lap dog." I spit out.
"...You have piqued the interest of those in charge. Because of that, they want to keep you alive for now. Until then, you will observe the game from here. After all, someone with so much money shouldn't have to play these games." With that, he turned around and walked away, leaving me screaming after him. I need to force myself to calm down in order to find a way to escape. Taking deep, long breaths, I try to steady my heart rate and clear my mind.
Looking back at the screen, I can see that the Xs and Os were once again separated into different parts of the room. The latter group was significantly smaller, and guards were at the ready. Dae Ho huddled on the floor, his whole body trembling, with Hyun Ju beside him, saying something, but the video has no audio. Well, it is good to know that these people can't hear them, even if their every move is under surveillance. Jun Hee was sitting on the bed beside Myung Gi, and Geum Ja was checking her stomach. A flash of panic strikes me, afraid of what could have happened to her and her baby, remembering how difficult my Ex's pregnancy was, but I am quick to squash that thought down, not wanting it to distract me. Focusing on the here and now, I look for any signs of distress on the young girl's face.
Luckily, nothing seems to be amiss, and it looks just to be stressful. Scanning the room, I found Yong Sik talking to a young man with a bowl cut; both seemed to be panicked but were physically fine. Forcing myself to relax, I shift my gaze to look at the O's. They also seem a little worse for wear, probably from the fight earlier, but genuinely unharmed. After a quick headcount, I sigh in disappointment, realizing that the O's outnumber the X's in a landslide. My plan failed; so many innocent people died, and more will die in the games. I sit there, contemplating what to do next. Jun Ho is still searching for me, even without the tracker; there are only so many islands this place can hide in before he finds us. The people playing have a good head on their shoulders and will survive. I can't afford to think otherwise.
