The evening of Alex's Christmas program arrived, and the excitement was palpable. Maya adjusted her blazer nervously as she glanced at Carina, who was wearing a soft red sweater that brought out her hazel eyes. Lucia sat beside them, a scarf draped elegantly around her shoulders, her face glowing with anticipation. Kathleen, who had flown in the day before, sat next to Lucia, her camera already in hand and ready for action.
The school's multipurpose room was decorated with colorful paper snowflakes, twinkling lights, and a makeshift stage adorned with Christmas trees and cardboard cutouts of Santa's workshop. Parents and family members filled the seats, chatting excitedly as they waited for the program to begin.
"I can't believe Alex is going to be on that stage," Lucia said, smiling warmly. "I remember when he could barely walk, and now he's singing in a Christmas program."
Kathleen nodded, her eyes sparkling. "He's going to be wonderful. I just know it."
Maya leaned closer to Carina, whispering, "He made me promise not to laugh if he forgets the words."
Carina chuckled softly, squeezing Maya's hand. "He'll be fine. He's been practicing non-stop, remember?"
Just then, the lights dimmed slightly, and the room fell quiet. Ms. Jenkins, Alex's teacher, stepped onto the stage, her voice cheerful as she introduced the program. "Good evening, everyone! Welcome to our annual Christmas program. We're so excited to share this special evening with you. Without further ado, let's get started!"
The first group of children came onto the stage, their costumes a mix of elves, snowflakes, and candy canes. The crowd clapped enthusiastically, and Kathleen leaned over to Maya. "This is adorable already," she whispered, grinning.
Finally, it was Alex's group's turn. The curtain opened to reveal a line of small reindeer, complete with paper antlers and red noses. Alex stood proudly in the middle, scanning the audience until his eyes landed on his family. He waved enthusiastically, his face lighting up when he saw all of them.
"There he is!" Lucia whispered excitedly, her hand clutching Kathleen's arm.
As the music began, Alex and his classmates launched into a spirited rendition ofRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Alex sang loudly, his voice carrying above the others, and his little dance moves had the audience chuckling and clapping along. He was clearly having the time of his life.
Maya couldn't stop smiling, her chest swelling with pride. "That's my boy," she murmured to Carina.
Carina's eyes shimmered with tears as she watched Alex, her heart full. "He's amazing," she whispered back, leaning into Maya's shoulder.
As the reindeer group left the stage, Alex threw one last enthusiastic wave at his family, prompting another round of laughter from Lucia and Kathleen, who both waved back. Maya couldn't help but shake her head with a fond smile. "He's really leaning into the spotlight," she murmured to Carina.
Carina leaned in closer to Maya, her voice filled with pride. "He's a natural."
The next group of children took the stage, dressed as Christmas ornaments and gingerbread cookies, performing a spirited rendition ofJingle Bells. The colorful costumes glittered under the lights, and the crowd clapped along, charmed by the cheerful energy of the kids.
Maya leaned over to Carina. "Think Alex is planning his encore yet?"
Carina laughed softly, nudging her. "Knowing him? Absolutely."
The final act was a big group number with all the children on stage, including Alex. They returned in their respective costumes, now joined by Tony, the grumpy Santa, and Sophia, a cheerful elf. Alex stood proudly in his reindeer spot, glancing over at Tony as the music started.
The children launched into a medley of holiday classics, starting withDeck the Halls. Alex, as always, sang loudly and incorporated his own unique spin with exaggerated hand gestures. Maya caught Carina's eye, both of them stifling giggles as Alex tried to steal the show with his antics.
When they transitioned toWe Wish You a Merry Christmas, Alex leaned over to Sophia, whispering something that made her giggle. Tony, still trying to stay in character as Santa, rolled his eyes, which only made the audience laugh louder.
As the medley came to a close, the kids all raised their hands in a triumphant pose, holding it for the applause. The audience erupted into cheers and whistles, parents clapping and snapping photos as the kids beamed with pride.
The curtain fell, and the room buzzed with chatter as families began to gather their things and head to the reception. Maya and Carina, still laughing about Alex's performance, stood up, with Lucia and Kathleen following behind them.
"Alex really stole the show," Kathleen said with a smile, holding up her camera. "I'm going to need to print some of these pictures. He was just too adorable."
Lucia nodded. "He has a flair for performance. It must run in the family."
"Mamma! Mommy! Nonna! Grandma Kathleen!" he exclaimed, practically bouncing. "Did you see me? I was the loudest!"
"You were incredible, amore!" Carina said, scooping him up into a hug. "I'm so proud of you."
Lucia kissed his cheek, her eyes twinkling. "You were the best reindeer I've ever seen."
Kathleen crouched down, holding up her camera. "I got the whole thing on video. You're going to love watching it later."
Maya ruffled Alex's hair, her smile wide. "You rocked it, buddy. I told you you'd be amazing."
Alex grinned, holding onto Carina's neck. "I wanna sing it again!"
— — —
The penthouse was alive with the warmth and glow of Christmas Eve. The tree stood tall in the corner, adorned with twinkling lights and ornaments that Alex had carefully helped hang. The scent of roasted vegetables, fresh bread, and Carina's homemade lasagna filled the air. Soft holiday music played in the background, setting the perfect festive tone.
Maya adjusted the table for the last time, ensuring every plate and piece of cutlery was perfectly in place. She stepped back, admiring the work she and Carina had put into making the evening special.
Carina emerged from the kitchen, carrying a large serving dish of lasagna. She placed it carefully in the center of the table and glanced at Maya with a smile. "Everything looks perfect, amore."
"You look perfect," Maya teased, stepping closer to steal a quick kiss. Carina blushed, swatting her lightly on the arm.
The doorbell rang, and Alex skidded to a stop, shouting, "I'll get it!" before dashing to the door.
Maya ran behind him, reminding him only adults open the door.
Mason, Beth, Sophia, and Emily entered first, their arms full of gifts and desserts. Kathleen trailed behind them, bearing a foil-covered dish.
"Merry Christmas, everyone!" Mason boomed, his voice full of cheer as he helped Beth set the gifts under the tree.
"Merry Christmas!" Carina and Maya echoed in unison, greeting everyone with hugs and warm smiles.
Once everyone settled in, the dinner table was bustling with laughter and conversation. Alex proudly sat between Lucia and Kathleen, regaling them with stories about his school Christmas program. Mason joked that his "culinary contribution" consisted solely of carrying the cheesecake from the car, eliciting a playful eye roll from Beth.
"Carina," Kathleen said, helping herself to a slice of lasagna, "this is incredible. I'm not sure I've ever had lasagna this good."
"It's her secret recipe," Maya said with a grin, leaning back in her chair. "She won't even tell me what's in it."
"Family secret," Carina teased, winking. "You'll just have to enjoy it."
As the meal continued, Mason and Maya traded playful banter, with Beth chiming in to keep them in line. The kids giggled as they plotted how to sneak more dessert when no one was looking. Lucia shared stories of Carina's childhood Christmases in Italy, her vivid descriptions painting a picture of snowy streets, glowing candles, and traditional Italian feasts.
"Do you think Santa will find us here?" Emily asked, her wide eyes darting to the window.
"Of course," Alex said confidently. "He always knows where we are."
"And we left cookies and milk, right?" Sophia added, looking to Carina.
Carina smiled, nodding. "We did. And carrots for the reindeer."
After dinner, they all gathered around the tree. Carina insisted on starting a tradition where the kids could open one present each. Alex tore into his gift, revealing a new dinosaur toy, and let out an excited yell.
"It's perfect!" he declared, holding it up for everyone to see.
As the evening wound down, Mason poured wine for the adults, and the kids played quietly with their new toys. Lucia sat with Kathleen, the two of them chatting about the wedding plans. Maya pulled Carina aside to the balcony, wrapping her arms around her as they looked out over the city.
"You did amazing tonight," Maya whispered, kissing Carina's temple. "This was everything I imagined and more."
Carina smiled, leaning into her. "We did it together, amore. And it was perfect."
The warmth of the evening carried on as the family gathered in the living room. The kids, still brimming with energy despite the late hour, had spread their toys across the floor, turning the space into a mini wonderland of dinosaurs, action figures, and glittery crafts from their earlier activities. As Sophia and Emily giggled, Alex took the lead, explaining how his new dinosaur could "eat the whole world".
Maya settled onto the couch, her arm casually draped around Carina, who leaned into her side with a contented sigh. Lucia and Kathleen were sharing stories from their respective family Christmas traditions, each one met with laughter and exclamations of "Oh, we did that too!" Mason and Beth, huddled together near the tree, watched their daughters with fond smiles.
As the night grew quieter, Carina clapped her hands gently, drawing the kids' attention. "Alex, Sophia, Emily," she said, her voice warm, "how about we all sit together for a Christmas story?"
The kids cheered, quickly abandoning their toys and scrambling to find spots on the couch and floor. Alex claimed his usual spot on Maya's lap, while Sophia and Emily nestled beside their parents. Lucia picked up a beautifully bound book from the coffee table—'Twas the Night Before Christmas.
"I think Nonna should read it," Carina suggested, glancing at Lucia with a smile.
Lucia nodded, her eyes twinkling as she opened the book. "All right, but you must listen closely," she said in a playful tone. "Santa will only come if everyone is fast asleep later."
The kids nodded earnestly, their wide eyes glued to Lucia as she began to read. Her rich, melodic voice filled the room, bringing the classic poem to life. The adults listened just as attentively, the familiar words weaving a cozy sense of nostalgia through the room.
When Lucia reached the final lines, Alex looked up at Maya, his voice a whisper. "Do you think Santa's on his way already?"
Maya smiled, pressing a kiss to his temple. "I think so, buddy. We'd better get ready for bed soon so he doesn't skip us."
As the evening wound down, Mason, Beth, Sophia, Emily, and Kathleen began gathering their things. The penthouse door opened and closed with hugs and laughter as the family exchanged goodbyes, their hearts full from the warmth of the evening. Soon, it was just Maya, Carina, Lucia, and Alex who were still brimming with energy, despite the late hour.
Alex clutched his stuffed dinosaur and tried his best to keep his eyes wide open as Carina gently herded him toward his room. "Come on, tesoro, it's time for bed," she coaxed, her voice soft but firm.
"But Mamma," Alex protested, planting his feet firmly in the hallway, "I have to see Santa! What if he comes and I miss him?"
Maya walked over, crouching down to Alex's level with a small smile. "Buddy, here's the thing about Santa," she began, her tone gentle but persuasive. "He can only come if all the kids are asleep in their beds. If you're awake, he skips our house and goes to the next one."
Alex's eyes widened, clearly torn between his excitement to see Santa and the fear of being skipped over. "Really?"
"Really," Maya said, nodding. "That's the rule. And I don't think you want to risk missing out on all the cool stuff he's bringing."
Carina crouched beside him, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead. "Mommy's right, amore. Santa is very sneaky. He won't come in until he knows you're fast asleep. But when you wake up, he'll have left you something magical."
Lucia joined in, her voice warm and playful. "I used to try to stay up to see Santa when I was your age, Alex. But I never caught him. He's very quick!"
Alex considered this, his little brow furrowing as he mulled it over. Finally, he sighed dramatically, his shoulders slumping. "Okay," he said reluctantly. "But only if you promise to wake me up if you see him!"
Maya chuckled, scooping him up in her arms. "Deal. Now let's get you to bed so he knows it's safe to come in."
Carina followed them into Alex's room, helping him settle under the covers. Maya handed him his stuffed dinosaur, which he hugged tightly. "Do you think Santa will like the cookies we left?" he asked, his voice sleepy.
"I think he'll love them," Carina reassured him, pressing a kiss to his forehead. "And the reindeer will love the carrots."
Maya sat on the edge of his bed, smoothing the blanket over him. "Goodnight, buddy. Sweet dreams, and remember—no peeking."
Alex yawned, his eyelids growing heavy. "Okay, Mommy. Night, Mamma. Night, Nonna."
"Goodnight, amore," Lucia called softly from the doorway.
As they turned off the light and closed the door, Maya and Carina exchanged a look, both of them smiling. "He's going to be up at the crack of dawn," Maya whispered, wrapping her arm around Carina's waist.
Carina chuckled, leaning into her. "That's part of the magic, isn't it?"
They returned to the living room, where Lucia was already tidying up the last of the evening's dishes. "He's a determined little one," Lucia said with a fond smile. "Just like his parents."
Maya laughed, grabbing a dish towel to help. "He's definitely got Carina's stubbornness."
"And your energy," Carina added with a grin, leaning over to kiss Maya's cheek.
The soft glow of the Christmas tree illuminated the living room as Maya and Carina quietly began unpacking the gifts labeled "From Santa." Lucia sat on the couch, a warm mug of hot cocoa in her hands, watching the scene unfold with a contented smile. The holiday music playing faintly in the background added to the festive atmosphere.
"Okay," Maya whispered, carefully placing a large, wrapped box under the tree. "This one's the big one from Santa. He's going to lose his mind when he sees it."
Carina peeked at the tag and grinned. "The dinosaur playset? He's been talking about it nonstop."
Maya nodded. "It's all he's been asking for. I can already hear him screaming in excitement."
Lucia chuckled softly, taking a sip of her cocoa. "You two make such a wonderful team. Watching this—planning the magic for Alex—it's beautiful."
Carina glanced over at her mother, her eyes warm. "It's one of the best parts of parenting. Seeing the joy on his face tomorrow will make all of this worth it."
Maya placed another gift under the tree, this one wrapped in shiny green paper. "Speaking of joy," she said with a mischievous smile, "this one's for you, amore. From Santa."
Carina raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "From Santa, huh?"
Maya smirked. "Santa knows everything. Including what you've been eyeing at the mall."
Lucia laughed, shaking her head. "It seems Santa is very observant in this house."
Carina leaned closer to Maya, whispering teasingly. "I hope Santa also knows how much I love him—or her."
Maya grinned, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. "Oh, Santa knows."
They continued arranging the gifts, careful to keep them perfectly spaced and picture-worthy. Carina paused to straighten a tag while Maya tiptoed into the kitchen to retrieve a plate of the cookies Alex had left out for Santa. She set it on the coffee table alongside a glass of milk and a half-eaten carrot for the reindeer.
"Don't forget to take a bite," Carina reminded her, pointing to the cookies. "Santa's got to leave some crumbs."
Maya exaggerated a sigh and picked up a cookie, taking a big bite. "Santa does a lot of work. Santa deserves this cookie."
Lucia laughed again, watching her daughter-in-law with affection. "I couldn't agree more. You're making Christmas magical for Alex—and for me."
As they finished setting up, Carina stepped back, admiring the scene. The tree sparkled with lights, and the gifts were perfectly arranged beneath it. The stockings hung neatly by the fireplace, now stuffed with little surprises.
"It's perfect," Carina whispered, her voice full of emotion.
Maya slid her arm around her waist, pulling her close. "It really is. Tomorrow's going to be amazing."
Lucia set down her mug, standing to join them. She placed a hand on Carina's shoulder, her expression full of pride. "You've created something truly special here, Carina. You and Maya both."
Carina smiled, leaning her head on Maya's shoulder. "We couldn't do it without you, Mamma."
Lucia kissed Carina's cheek and then turned toward the hallway. "I think it's time for me to head to bed. Santa has done her job beautifully."
Maya chuckled, watching as Lucia disappeared into the guest room. She turned to Carina, her voice soft. "You ready for tomorrow?"
Carina nodded, her eyes shimmering with love. "With you? Always."
As the quiet of the night settled over the penthouse, Maya and Carina made their way to their bedroom, the glow of the Christmas tree visible through the crack in the door. Maya was already in bed, lounging under the covers as she scrolled through her phone, checking for last-minute messages from the station. The soft click of the bathroom door drew her attention, and she looked up.
Carina stepped into the room, her silhouette framed by the soft glow of the bedside lamp. She wore a stunning set of red lace Christmas lingerie, adorned with delicate satin bows and the perfect amount of sparkle. Her hair fell loosely around her shoulders, and the playful smirk on her lips made Maya's heart skip a beat.
"Well, well," Maya said, setting her phone aside and sitting up straighter. "It looks like Santa left me an early present."
Carina laughed softly, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she approached the bed. "I thought you deserved something special tonight," she said, her voice low and inviting.
Maya reached out, her fingers brushing lightly along the edge of the lace on Carina's thigh. "Do I get to unwrap my present?"
Carina tilted her head, her smile widening. "I believe we can arrange that," Carina whispered, taking a step forward to allow Maya's hands to explore.
Maya wasted no time, her hands sliding up Carina's thighs and tracing the delicate fabric. "You're perfect," she whispered, her voice thick with affection and desire. "I don't know what I did to deserve you."
Carina leaned down, her fingers tangling gently in Maya's hair as she kissed her deeply, her lips warm and soft. "You deserve everything, amore," she whispered against Maya's mouth. "And tonight, I'm yours."
Maya's hands roamed Carina's body, savoring every curve and the feel of the lace under her fingertips. She gently guided Carina onto the bed, her lips never leaving hers as they melted into each other. The warmth between them was electric, filled with the love and passion that had built their life together.
Maya turned Carina on her back and slowly untied the lingerie. As soon as Carina's breast was freed, Maya found Carina's nipple with her mouth, quickly sucking it into her mouth and swirling her tongue, causing Carina to arch her back into the touch. Maya then turned her attention to Carina's other nipple, paying the same amount of care to it.
Carina reached for the hem of Maya's shirt, pulling at it as Maya leaned back, allowing Carina to pull it off of her before resuming the movements with her tongue.
"I think I have been naughty this year, Santa." Carina whispered, causing Maya to let out a low growl.
"Naughty, huh. Well, I guess Santa will have to take care of you then." Maya smiled as she started to kiss down Carina's abdomen.
Pulling Carina's thong off in one smooth movement, Maya leaned back, stroking her cock through her pajama pants as Carina's glistening core laid before her. Maya then stood and pulled her pajama pants off before climbing back on the bed to Carina, finding her lips as she lay between Carina's legs.
"Since you have been naughty, you need to get on your hands and knees." Maya whispered in Carina's ear, sending goosebumps down Carina's skin.
Carina loved this position; it allowed Maya to get so deep. Carina eagerly turned over while slightly shaking her ass as she got comfortable. Maya leaned over Carina, kissing down her spine as Carina could feel her erect dick pushing up against her.
Maya snaked her hand around, palming Carina's breast as she made her way down to Carina's perfectly round ass. Maya dragged her teeth down Carina's ass, kissing and sucking, causing Carina to arch into her touch.
Maya then moved her mouth to Carina's core, running her tongue through Carina's folds, collecting all the arousal she could.
"Cazzo, Maya, I need you," Carina murmured as she dropped her head to the bed.
Maya knew that tone, and Carina was ready. Maya grabbed her cock with one hand and lined her up to Carina's entrance, pushing in slowly. Once she was fully sheathed in Carina's core, Maya began to pull back and thrust forward slowly until she was pulling out almost completely, leaving the tip in, and thrusting back in completely.
This position allowed Maya to almost hit Carina's cervix, something Carina had grown to love, driving her pleasure higher and higher. Moans escaping Carina's mouth as Maya bottomed out inside of her were building her organs quickly. Just as Carina's pleasure was heightening, Maya snuck her hand around, finding Carina's clit and applying the perfect amount of pressure with her thumb, stroking up and down.
Maya's other hand gripped Carina's waist to keep up the consistent pace of her thrust. Maya knew Carina didn't last long in this position and soon felt the telltale signs of her walls clenching onto her pulsating cock.
"I'm close," Maya panted.
"I'm coming," Carina called out as the waves of pleasure from her orgasm began to wash over her.
Maya slowed her thrusting but continued her movements, knowing this would allow Carina to ride out all the waves of pleasure from her orgasm. Carina soon collapsed onto the bed with Maya's dick still inside of her. Maya started to thrust in and out slowly again, building up her tempo and chasing her orgasm.
"Wait," Carina gasped, and Maya immediately stopped.
Maya pulled out as Carina turned over, searching Carina's face for the problem. "What's wrong, baby?" Maya questioned.
"I want to see you come," Carina breathed.
Maya smirked as she immediately lined herself back up and resumed her pace. Soon Maya felt the telltale sign of her orgasm approaching; she felt the tightening in her balls. Maya thrust deep, maintaining eye contact with Carina before dropping her head to Carina's shoulder and coating Carina's insides with her seed.
They lay together as Maya gathered her strength before pulling out and rolling over on her back.
"Best present from Santa ever," Maya smiled as she rolled back into Carina.
"Stupida, but I love you," Carina laughed.

The first light of Christmas morning crept into the penthouse, casting a golden glow across the living room, where the Christmas tree sparkled with colorful lights and carefully wrapped presents. In the bedroom, Maya stirred as a small, eager voice whispered loudly near her ear.
"Mommy! Mommy! It's Christmas! Wake up!" Alex's excitement was palpable as he bounced on the edge of the bed, clutching his stuffed dinosaur.
Maya groaned playfully, cracking one eye open to see her son's glowing face. "Good morning, buddy. Did Santa come?"
Alex nodded vigorously. "I think so! I didn't see him, but there are so many presents!"
Next to her, Carina stretched and smiled sleepily, brushing her hair from her face. "Buon Natale, amore," she murmured, leaning over to kiss Maya softly.
Alex tugged on Carina's arm. "Mamma! Come on! We have to see what Santa brought!"
Carina laughed, sitting up and pulling Alex into a hug. "Buon Natale, tesoro. All right, let's go see."
As they shuffled into the living room, the sight of Lucia already waiting on the couch greeted them. She had a steaming mug of coffee in her hands and a warm smile on her face. "Good morning, everyone. Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas, Nonna!" Alex exclaimed, running to her side and climbing onto the couch.
Carina disappeared into the kitchen to brew coffee for her and Maya, while Maya settled onto the floor near Alex and the tree. "Okay, buddy," Maya said, her voice full of anticipation. "Let's see what Santa left."
Alex's face lit up as he dove toward the pile of gifts, his hands hovering over a large, wrapped box. "This one! This one's from Santa!" he shouted, tearing into the paper.
As the paper fell away, his eyes widened in awe. "The dinosaur playset! Mommy! Mamma! Look!" He held it up triumphantly, his excitement infectious.
Carina returned with two mugs of coffee, laughing softly as she set them down on the coffee table. "Santa knows you well, tesoro."
One by one, Alex tore through his gifts, each one met with a delighted squeal or an enthusiastic thank-you. Maya and Carina exchanged knowing smiles, their hearts full as they watched him bask in the magic of Christmas morning.
When Alex finally reached the bottom of the pile, Carina handed him a small, wrapped gift from under the tree. "This one is from Mommy and me," she said, her voice gentle.
Alex unwrapped it carefully, revealing a personalized photo book filled with pictures of the three of them together—vacations, birthdays, and quiet moments at home. He flipped through the pages, his little fingers tracing the photos.
"It's all of us," Alex said softly, his eyes wide with wonder.
"It's your story, amore," Carina said, wrapping an arm around him. "Our story."
Alex hugged the book tightly, his voice filled with pure joy. "I love it! Thank you, Mamma. Thank you, Mommy."
Lucia dabbed at her eyes with a tissue, her voice emotional. "You two are raising such a wonderful boy."
"Thank you, Mamma," Carina said, her voice thick with emotion as she squeezed Maya's hand.
After the excitement of opening the gifts under the tree, Alex suddenly jumped up, his face lighting up as if he remembered something important. "Mamma!" he exclaimed, running over to Maya. "We have your presents! Mommy, can I give them to her now?"
Maya grinned, nodding. "Go for it, buddy. They're over by the coffee table."
Alex dashed to the small pile of gifts they had wrapped together a few days earlier. He grabbed the brightly colored package and ran back to Carina, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor near the tree. "This one's for you, Mamma! It's from me and Mommy!" he said excitedly, practically bouncing as he handed it to her.
Carina smiled, taking the gift with care. "Grazie, tesoro. Should I open it now?"
"Yes! Open it, open it!" Alex urged, plopping down beside her.
Maya leaned back against the couch, sipping her coffee with a small smile as she watched the scene unfold. "Go ahead, Carina. We worked hard on that."
Carina carefully unwrapped the gift, her curiosity growing. As the paper fell away, she revealed a large, three-wick candle labeledEucalyptus Mint. The soft green glass sparkled in the light, and the fresh, calming scent filled the air when she opened the lid.
"Oh, it smells amazing!" Carina said, leaning over to give Alex a big hug. "You picked this out for me?"
Alex nodded proudly. "Uh-huh! Mommy said it smells like your hugs."
Carina's heart melted at his words. She glanced at Maya, her eyes shimmering with gratitude. "You two are going to make me cry."
"There's more!" Alex announced, reaching for another package. This one was smaller, wrapped in gold paper with a green bow. "This one's from me too!"
Carina opened the second gift to reveal a set of luxurious hand creams in different scents. She laughed softly, holding up the small tubes. "Now I'll have soft hands for you both. These are perfect."
Alex grinned, leaning into her side. "I told Mommy you could take them to work."
Carina kissed the top of his head. "You are the sweetest boy, tesoro. Thank you so much."
Alex jumped up again, his excitement not yet worn out. He hurried back to the coffee table and grabbed a small, neatly wrapped package with a silver ribbon. Turning to Carina with a proud smile, he walked over and held it out to her with both hands.
"Mamma, this is thespecialone," Alex said, his voice filled with importance. "I picked it because you like sparkly things."
Carina's eyes softened as she accepted the package. "You picked this out for me, tesoro?"
Alex nodded eagerly. "Uh-huh! Mommy helped, but I picked it."
Maya, sitting on the couch, smiled over the rim of her coffee cup. "He had very strong opinions about what you'd like."
Carina carefully unwrapped the package, her fingers delicate as she removed the paper. Inside was a small jewelry box. She glanced at Alex, whose face was practically glowing with anticipation, before opening it.
Her breath caught as she revealed the necklace inside—a delicate silver chain with a sparkling heart-shaped pendant encrusted with tiny diamonds. The light from the Christmas tree caught the pendant, making it shimmer beautifully.
"Oh, Alex," Carina whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "It's stunning. You picked this for me?"
Alex nodded proudly, climbing into her lap. "Yep! Mommy said you'd love it, but I knew as soon as I saw it. It's really sparkly, and you like sparkly things!"
Carina blinked back tears, pulling him into a tight hug. "It's perfect, amore. I love it so much."
"Can you put it on?" Alex asked, his eyes wide with excitement.
Carina laughed softly, nodding. She handed the necklace to Maya, who moved to clasp it around Carina's neck. Once it was in place, Carina touched the pendant gently, her heart full.
"How does it look?" she asked, turning toward Alex.
Alex beamed. "It looks beautiful! Just like you, Mamma."
Carina's tears finally spilled over as she hugged Alex again, holding him close. "Grazie, tesoro. This is the best gift."
Maya smirked from her spot by the couch. "He had outstanding ideas. I just helped make them happen."
Carina set the gifts down and crawled over to Maya, giving her a soft kiss. "You're amazing, both of you."
Lucia, who had been watching with a fond smile, clapped her hands together. "I think Mamma is very spoiled today."
"I am," Carina agreed, her voice thick with emotion as she pulled Alex into her lap. "But the best gift is this family."
Alex hugged her tightly, his small arms wrapping around her neck. "We love you, Mamma."
"I love you too, amore," Carina whispered, kissing his cheek as she held him close.
Carina reached under the tree, a playful smile on her face as she picked up a few neatly wrapped gifts with shiny blue paper and silver ribbons. She turned to Alex, who was still sitting happily in her lap. "Tesoro," she said softly, holding out the gifts, "do you want to give Mommy the presents you picked out for her?"
Alex's eyes lit up as he jumped off her lap, taking the gifts from her hands. "Mommy! Mommy! These are for you!" he exclaimed, running to Maya and thrusting the packages toward her.
Maya chuckled, her heart swelling as she took the gifts. "For me? Wow, thank you, buddy. Did you pick these out all by yourself?"
"Uh-huh!" Alex said, nodding vigorously. "Mamma helped me wrap them, but I picked everything!"
Carina smirked, leaning back with her arms crossed as she watched. "He was very certain about his choices."
Maya raised an eyebrow, playfully intrigued as she untied the silver ribbon on the first box. "Let's see what you've got, buddy."
Inside the first box was a sleek black leather wallet, simple and elegant, with a small engraving of Maya's initials in the corner. Maya blinked, her mouth opening in surprise. "Wow, Alex. This is… this is amazing. I needed a new wallet!"
Alex beamed, bouncing slightly on his toes. "I knew you did! You always say your old one is falling apart."
Carina chimed in with a grin. "He insisted you needed something 'cool and strong,' just like you."
Maya smiled, pulling Alex into a hug. "You nailed it, buddy. Thank you."
"There's more!" Alex said, pulling back and pointing to the second package. "Open it, Mommy!"
Maya laughed, setting the wallet aside and moving to the next gift. She carefully unwrapped it to reveal a sleek stainless-steel tumbler with the fire department logo etched into it. The lid was bright red, matching the design. Maya's grin widened. "This is perfect! Now I can take my coffee to work without spilling it everywhere."
Alex clapped his hands together, his excitement bubbling over. "I picked red because it's the fire truck color!"
Maya chuckled, pulling him into another hug. "You're the best gift-giver ever. Thank you, Alex."
Carina watched the two of them, her heart full as she leaned forward to join in the hug. "He did such a fantastic job, didn't he?"
Maya looked up at Carina, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. "He had an amazing helper."
Carina smiled, brushing a strand of hair behind Maya's ear. "It's all him. I just helped make his ideas happen."
Alex wriggled free, his face glowing with pride. "Mommy, do you like them?"
"I don't just like them," Maya said, ruffling his hair. "I love them. You're the best, buddy."
Lucia, still sipping her cocoa, clapped her hands lightly. "Alex, you have a talent for choosing gifts. Your Mommy looks so happy."
Alex puffed up with pride, nodding. "I'm really good at this."
Maya laughed, pulling him back into her lap. "You're the best at this. Thank you for making my Christmas so special, buddy."
As Alex snuggled into her, Carina leaned over to kiss Maya's cheek, her voice soft. "I told you he had outstanding ideas."
Maya grinned, her heart brimming with love for her little family. "He's got the best ones. Just like his Mamma."
He dashed over to the tree and grabbed a couple of gifts wrapped in green and gold paper. Turning around with an excited grin, he ran over to Lucia, who was still sitting on the couch, her eyes twinkling as she watched him.
"Nonna! These are for you!" Alex exclaimed, thrusting the gifts toward her.
Lucia's face lit up with delight as she took the packages. "For me? Oh, Alex, you're too kind! Did you pick these out yourself?"
Alex nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! Mommy and Mamma helped a little, but I picked them because I know you like nice things."
Carina smiled from her spot beside Maya, watching her mother with fondness. "He was very thoughtful about it, Mamma."
Lucia carefully untied the golden ribbon on the first package, peeling back the paper to reveal a soft, elegant scarf in shades of deep blue and silver. Her eyes widened as she unfolded it, feeling the silky fabric between her fingers. "Oh, Alex," she said warmly, holding it up. "It's beautiful. You picked this for me?"
"Yes!" Alex said proudly. "Mommy said it's like the sky at night, and you always say you love looking at the stars."
Lucia's eyes shimmered with emotion as she reached out to pull Alex into a hug. "It's perfect, tesoro. I will wear it every time I go out."
"There's one more!" Alex said, bouncing out of her arms and pointing to the second package.
Lucia smiled, her hands moving to the smaller gift. As she unwrapped it, she revealed a delicate bracelet with tiny charms shaped like stars and moons. The gold and silver charms sparkled in the light, and Lucia gasped softly. "Oh, Alex," she murmured, slipping it onto her wrist. "This is exquisite. You truly have an eye for beautiful things."
Alex beamed, his chest puffed out with pride. "I thought it would match the scarf! And Mamma said you like jewelry."
Carina leaned over to kiss Alex's cheek. "You're excellent at this, amore. Nonna looks so happy."
"I am," Lucia said, her voice thick with emotion as she looked at her grandson. "You've made my Christmas very special, Alex. Thank you."
Alex hugged her tightly, his small arms wrapping around her neck. "You're welcome, Nonna. I love you!"
"I love you too, tesoro," Lucia whispered, kissing the top of his head.
With her arm wrapped around Carina, Maya leaned back against the couch and smiled at the scene. "You've got the magic touch, buddy."
Lucia held up her wrist, admiring the bracelet. "I will think of you every time I wear this. Thank you, Alex."
As the wrapping paper chaos settled and Alex busied himself with his new toys, Maya reached under the tree for a small, elegantly wrapped gift she had tucked away. She turned to Carina with a warm smile, holding the package in her hands.
"Amore," Maya began, her voice soft but filled with love. "This one's for you."
Carina's eyebrows lifted in surprise as she sat up straighter, taking the gift from Maya's outstretched hands. "For me? I thought we said no big gifts this year."
Maya chuckled, settling beside her. "It's not big. It's thoughtful. Open it."
Carina glanced at Maya with playful suspicion before carefully unwrapping the gift. Inside, she found a sleek black jewelry box. Her fingers hovered over it for a moment before she opened it to reveal a delicate gold necklace. The pendant was a simple yet beautiful charm shaped like an anchor, encrusted with tiny diamonds.
Carina's breath caught as she picked up the necklace, letting it dangle gently from her fingers. "Maya…" she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "It's stunning. An anchor?"
Maya nodded, her cheeks slightly pink as she explained. "Yeah. It's because you're my anchor, Carina. You've kept me grounded through everything—my career, my struggles, even building this family together. You're my safe place."
Carina's eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she leaned forward, cupping Maya's face and pressing a tender kiss to her lips. "Amore mio," she murmured. "It's perfect. I love it."
From his spot on the floor, Alex looked up, curious. "What is it, Mamma?"
Carina turned to show him the necklace, smiling. "It's a special gift from Mommy. It's an anchor—like on a boat."
Alex's eyes widened. "Because you keep us from floating away?"
Maya laughed, pulling Alex into a hug. "Exactly, buddy. Your Mamma keeps us steady."
Lucia, watching from her seat, clapped her hands together softly. "Maya, that is a beautiful gift. And very fitting."
Carina leaned into Maya, her voice quiet enough for only her to hear. "You always know how to make me feel so loved."
Maya kissed her temple, her own voice full of emotion. "Because you are, Carina. More than anything."
"Merry Christmas, amore," she whispered, before capturing Carina's lips in a gentle kiss.
Carina smiled into the kiss, cupping Maya's cheek as she murmured back, "Merry Christmas, amore mio."
From the floor, Alex let out a loud, exaggerated groan. "Ugh! You guys kiss all the time!"
Maya and Carina pulled apart, stifling their laughter. Carina turned toward Alex with a playful smile. "What's wrong, tesoro? Don't you like it when Mommy and I kiss?"
Alex crossed his arms, his little face scrunched up in mock disgust. "No! It's gross. You do it all the time."
Lucia, sitting on the couch with her cup of cocoa, chuckled softly. "Ah, Alex, that's what happens when people love each other. Your Mamma and Mommy are just very happy."
"But Nonna," Alex said, turning to her dramatically, "they're always doing it. Even when I'm trying to talk to them!"
Lucia laughed, patting the seat beside her. "Come here, tesoro. Let me tell you something."
Alex climbed up onto the couch, his curiosity piqued. Lucia leaned in, her voice gentle but amused. "When you grow up, you might find someone you love as much and want to kiss them all the time."
Alex made a face, shaking his head. "No way. I'm never gonna do that. Kissing is yucky."
Maya leaned back on the couch beside Carina, trying to keep a straight face. "You say that now, buddy, but one day…"
"Never!" Alex declared, his tone firm.
As the laughter from Alex's complaint about all the kissing faded, Carina stood up and moved toward the Christmas tree. She knelt down, reaching for a gift wrapped in elegant white and gold paper. Holding it delicately, she turned to Maya with a soft smile.
"Amore," she said, her voice filled with warmth, "it's my turn to give you something."
Maya raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk on her lips. "I thought we said no big gifts this year."
Carina walked over to her, sitting down beside her and placing the gift in Maya's hands. "This isn't big. It's meaningful," she said, her eyes twinkling.
Maya tilted her head, her curiosity piqued as she began unwrapping the gift. She carefully pulled back the paper to reveal a small, beautifully crafted wooden box. Maya looked at Carina, her brow furrowed in wonder, before opening the lid.
Inside was a delicate bracelet made of small, polished stones—each one a slightly different color, shimmering softly in the light. Attached to the bracelet was a tiny, gold-etched charm in the shape of a flame.
"It's beautiful," Maya whispered, running her fingers over the bracelet. "What's the story behind it?"
Carina reached out, taking Maya's hand gently as she explained. "The stones represent balance—each one symbolizes something different: strength, love, courage, and hope. The flame? That's for you, amore. It's your strength, your passion, and the way you light up our lives."
Maya's throat tightened as she looked at Carina, her eyes shimmering. "You always know exactly what to say," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "This is… perfect."
Carina smiled softly, taking the bracelet from the box and fastening it around Maya's wrist. "It's for you to wear when you need a reminder of how much you mean to this family—and to me."
Maya glanced down at the bracelet, the weight of its meaning settling over her heart. "I'll never take it off," she promised, her voice a whisper.
From his spot on the couch, Alex piped up, "What is it, Mommy?"
Maya turned her wrist to show him. "It's a special bracelet from Mamma. It's a reminder of all the things that make our family strong."
Alex studied it for a moment, then nodded solemnly. "It's pretty. And the flame looks like your firefighter badge."
Maya smiled, pulling Alex into a quick hug. "You're right, buddy. It's perfect."
