It has been five years since Hiccup left Berk and he could not have been happier. He was able to open up his own forge in the old house that Mirabel offered him to stay in. Alma of course was not happy about the new addtion to the Encanto, but she could do nothing about it. She couldn't even evict him from the home because it was in Mirabel's name. Lunaposa and Toothless stayed hidden during this entire time, but they did not mind because they were able to play and fly around without the fear of being hunted or shot down. Even Doloris was unaware of their presents. Hiccup and Mirabel grew closer to one another at first no one knew of their relationship, but that quickly ended six months in when Mirabel's primas and primos snuck around and discovered their eldest prima's boyfriend. Even though Oscar, Luisa, and Camilo first saw Mirabel almost like a second mom their relationship solidified into her being seen as a protective older sister and Hiccup like a future brother in law.
Antonio however only saw Mirabel and Hiccup as his parents. When Tonito first said his first word was when Pepa had wanted to hold her youngest baby, but he was not a fan of being taken from his Mirabel. Pepa had been struggling to get a proper hold of him as he was wiggling and reaching towards Mirabel as he began to cry. It wasn't until he cried MAMA as he reached towards Mirabel was when Pepa finally handed him back to niece leaving the nursery in tears. Hiccup had helped Mirabel raise Antonio from the moment he was born so Mirabel did not have to practically become a single fifteen year old mom. He was not a fan of the Madrigal Adults. He would also help Mirabel run errands when she was taking care of the baby, by bringing lunch for the primos and primas and making sure they were not being overworked. Hiccup was not afraid of Alma; not after what he had experienced on Berk.
Hiccup did not build as many inventions as scale models, but he knew that there was no need to and the ones he did build to full scale were things that were actually needed. Mirabel was impressed and encouraged his ideas; she truly loved all of him. One of his most successful inventions was creating an efficient iragation system for the farmers. Even though Pepa got one more thing removed from her list she still was not a present mother for Antonio. Hiccup was ok with this because even though he started to help Mirabel raise Antonio for her sake he grew an attachment towards the baby boy with each passing day he spent with the child. Tonito felt more like his son, when Tonito first called him Papi he had a hard time holding back tears, and swore that he would not become Stoick. No matter what and for the past five years he was making good on those promises. Hiccup also had asked his son if he could marry Mirabel. The little boy hugged his Papi with a very enthusiastic yes. Antonio also grew up playing with Toothless and Lunaposa who are very overprotective of the young child.
Today was the day of Antonio's Gift Ceromony, he was very excited to get his gift today, but not nearly as excited at the thought of his parents finally getting married. Mirabel woke up early as usual that morning to make breakfast and set the table that morning getting everything ready for her son's gift ceremony. She had his white suit ready, his birthday present set, and her special surprise for her family set and ready. As she placed the laced doilies that she made for each member of her family she knocked on everyone's doors after she headed back to the nursery to get Antonio dressed. When she openned the door her little Tonito jumped from his bed and into her arms. "Are you ready for today?" She said as seh set him back down onto the bed before she reached into the cabinet for his dress clothes. "Yes. You and Papi will still love me if I don't get a gift right?" He asked, a little nervous. Mirabel whipped herself around to pull her little boy into a hug. "Of Course. Now later your Papi and I have a little gift before you head down for your ceremony tonight, but until then you need to get dressed. Remember you need to keep yourself clean. Ok." Mirabel said with a smile. Antonio was super excited at the thought of his special surprise that his madrais were planning on giving him.
Casita was moving a box from under Mirabel's bed that had remained hidden for the past twenty years. It was a gift from her mami from before she was born. When Mirabel saw and learned of this she nearly broke down into tears. "You ok Mami?" Mirabel just smiled and nodded towards the little boy. "Yes. This is just a special gift from my mami." Antonio looked wide eyed at the box. "Open it, open it!" He said excitedly, making Mirabel laugh. "Ok." Wirth that she opened this mysterious box which revealed a beautiful green dress with spring flowers that she had never seen before embroidered all over it. (Think of the dress Elsa wore in Frozen Fever.) "You have to wear it." Antonio said determined and Mirabel knew that she was not going to win this argument with the now five year old. "You think so?" Mirabel said a little unsure. She was not one that was known for wearing dresses and she did not know if she was pretty enough to wear a dress that looked fit for a queen one might say. "Yes. Put it on!" Antonio said leaving no room for argument. "Alright, but you need to go knock on everyone's doors and let your Papi in and be gentle with Doloris's door." Mirabel instructed giving herself just a few minutes to put the new dress on.
Everyone had made their way down stairs to eat outside and the sight of Hiccup sitting with them in the morning and at night was a common sight. One Alma used to argue against, but eventually lost due to Casita not letting Hiccup leave his designated chair. No matter how hard he tried. Everyone was getting ready to eat when Mirabel finally made her entrance. "Mami you look so pretty!" Antonio said a little too loud. Pepa and Felix would flinch everytime their son would call the young couple Mami and Papi, but despite all of their efforts the young boy never saw them as his parents. Even Alma failed when she was going to beat him and permanently keep him away from Mirabel and Hiccup. That was until Pepa and Felix intervened telling her that she was taking it too far and threatened to rebel against her if she continued with this course of action. They know that they messed up, but they were not going to harm and traumatize their son just because they didn't want to deal with the consequences of their actions. If they could do one thing right as Antonio's parents it was this. They were not going to tear him away from the two people who did raise him. They also promised themselves that they were going to be better with Doloris and Camilo. Julietta and Ausutine made the same promise that night as well.
Everyone turned to see Mirabel and they were taken by her natural beauty that was being enhanced by the dress she was now wearing. Hiccup felt like his heart had stopped on sight of his beloved. "Thank you Tonito, but please don't shout." She said gently as she made her way towards her son. "Really Mirabel, that dress is gorgeous. When did you even make that?" Isabella said in true awe of her prima, she was almost jealous that she got to be beautiful and graceful without trying and without the pressure of it thrusted upon her. "Actually Casita revealed it to me. It was actually from my mom." Mirabel said thoughtfully not seeing the pained looks on the adults of the family. "I thought I recognized that dress. It was actually the first gift your papi gave to your mother." Juiletta said, breaking the tension. Mirabel felt more love than she had when she first found the dress. "You look stunning. Mi Amore." Hiccup said before placing a lite kiss on her lips. The family melted at the sweet moment and chuckled when they heard Antonio pretend to gag with Camilo at the sight of the little kiss. Julietta, Augustine, Pepa, and Felix liked Hiccup; he was so sweet and caring towards Mirabel and looked out for her when they failed to and he neverminded when Pepa's weather would act up. He is incredibly sweet towards each of the Madrigals even Alma even if he did not particularly like her.
Alma had bit her lip to avoid a fight, but tonight needed to go well at that meant NO MIRABEL! "Ok now we need to talk about setting up for tonight and I believe that it is best left to those who have gifts to help." Alma said not subtle at all. Mirabel just smiled at her knowing full well how Alma was going to be today and she was not going to let Alma or herself ruin Antonio's birthday. She did not care about if he got a gift or not, but today was his fifth birthday and that's what mattered. Mirabel was going to do her best to avoid fighting with Alma. "Well good thing that all of us grandkids worked on all the decorations yesterday. They had so much fun. So we can even just let Casita set them up for the most part." Mirabel said, contributing to the conversation. Alma gripped her fork tightly. Mirabel was not trying to challenge the Encanto leader, she was just stating a simple fact to the parents of the children who wanted and were already going to have to help out with the decorations anyway.
"That sounds amazing." Pepa said truly joyfully. Mirabel was a better mother than she ever was. "Agreed. I saw when I was making most of the food for tonight. I just need to make the aprepas for today and the cake for tonight." Julietta said, adding to the positivity. Alma never liked when her own daughters tried to make light of the disrespect Mirabel constantly showed her. "Well Casita seems to have the decorations handled. Isabella I also need you to grow some fresh flowers, Doloris I need you to keep an ear out for anyone running late, Luisa I need you to help with parking. Oscar I need you to make sure everything is working in the village so there are no emergencies, Camilo I need you to help with anything here that comes up. Finally Antonio you will be spending the day with your Mami and Papi." Alma said not realizing her mistake. "Yay! Mami, can I go play with Papi's lizards?" Antonio asked, turning to Mirabel. "No, Pepa and Felix are your Mami and Papi." Alma said propously ignoring the reason why he saw Mirbael and Hiccup as his parents. "Mami, I told you to drop this." Pepa said sternly. Alma gave her daughter a concerned look. "No, this is ridiculous. He is five years old and he needs to stop this foolishness. Now you two are his parents and that's what we need to present to the village tonight." Alma said sternly. Mirabel kept quiet through all of this tightly holding onto Hiccup's hand, because if either one of them spoke up they would surely ruin Antonio's birthday. That's not what this was about.
"Tonito. Will you please spend the day with Pepa and Felix?" Mirabel asked gently. "Yeah, I love Tia Pepa and Tio Felix. It's gonna be fun." Pepa's heart melted at getting to spend the day with her youngest. She quickly turned to Alma. "Leave it be." Alma just rolled her eyes before turning back to Mirabel. "You need to stay out of the way today along with Hipo." Alma said before getting up out of her chair and leaving to start the set up in Casita. Mirabel took a deep breath before she felt a hand on her shoulder thinking it was Hiccup. "We will look out for each other today. The two of you just spend the day together. We'll be ok." Isabella said to Mirabel doing her best to reassure her older prima. Mirabel gave her a reassuring smile while trying to also hide the weariness in her eyes. "Gracias. Isa. Don't let her push you today either. Ok" Mirabel said worried for her prima knowing full well what Alma would usually try to do when she wasn't there. "I won't. Love you." Isabella told the other girl while giving her a hug before heading off to make the flowers needed for tonight.
Mirabel and Hiccup got up from the table, cleaning it and placing the dishes in the kitchen. Once they were finished cleaning them and putting them away they could hear Juiletta arguing with Alma. "Please go easy on Mirabel tonight. These ceremonies are always hard for her." She could hear her Tia plead. "If tonight does not go well it will be hard for everyone." Alma said before storming off. Hiccup placed an arm on Mirbel's side guiding her gaze to him. Giving her a sympathetic smile. She leaned in to kiss the man she loves on the lips before they made their way to the cottage that has become more of their home over the past five years. Toothless and Lunaposa were more than happy to see the two riders and they had spent the whole day in the skys forgetting their troubles if only for a few hours. Before they knew it the time had turned to a few hours before Antonio's ceremony and Mirabel felt that shee needed to head back to Casita. Hiccup close to her side went to see their son and give him his birthday present.
When the two entered the living home the sight before them was a little concerning. Pepa was in the middle of summoning a tornado while Felix tried to calm her. Apparently no one was able to find Antonio for an hour. Calmly Hiccup and Mirabel walked up to Pepa and Felix telling them that they have a feeling that they know where he is. As the young couple headed up the stairs the reast of the Madrigal slowly followed them to the nursery wondering why Antonio would be there and why did none of them check there sooner? Mirabel went to grab a small present and Hiccup sat on the floor watching his beloved carefully sit on her bed. "We have a present for you. It will explode if you don't take it in three, two, one, oof." Mirabel said as two little hands reached out from under the bed, grabbed the gift and snatched it. Mirabel made her way under the bed as Hiccup continued to sit in his spot on the ground.
"Nervous?" They heard her ask gently. "You have nothing to worry about. You're gonna get your Gift and open that door and it's gonna be the coolest ever. I know it." Hiccup added trying to lighten up the mood like most supportive fathers would. They all hear a small scared whisper of the youngest Madrigal. "Whaat if it doesn't work?" Mirabel let out a sigh and pulled her son into a hug. "Well in that impossible scenario, you'd stay here with me. Forever." Mirabel said dramatically causing Antonio to let out a laugh and the rest of the family to smile at the sweet moment. "And we'd get you all to ourselves." Hiccup added, causing more laughter from his son. The laughing stopped when Antonio spoke up again. "I wish you could have a door." No one knew what to say when they heard that one little phrase. No one except Mirabel. "You know what? You don't have to worry about me, 'cause I have an amazing family and an amazing house, and an amazing you, and seeing you get your special Gift and your door, that's gonna make me way more happy than anything. Now open your present." Mirabel nodded towards the unopened gift. The rest of the family decided to disperse at the intimate conversation and the guilt that was weighing down on their hearts for how Mirabel has been tried most of her life.
"I know you're an animal guy and I made this so, when you move into your cool, new room, you always have something to snuggle with." Mirabel said as she watched her son hug tightly the jagar plushie that she just gifted him. As the two made their way out ffom under the bed with the help from Hiccup who picked up Tonito into a hug Casita was warning them that it was almost time. "Sorry, I have to get one more squeeze." Mirabel said, hugging the two. Casita was now insisting to them that they needed to get going. "Okay, okay we're going." Hiccup said, setting down his boy. As the mini family made their way to the rest of the family Alma quickly separated Antonio from Mirabel and Hiccup. "I thought I told you to stay back and let us do what we do best." Alma snided and without letting anyone answer she continued. "Now Julietta's family will stand on the left while Pepa's family will stand on the right and Mirabel please stand back." Alma said, giving her orders.
Everyone went to their spots and Hiccup stayed off to the side while Mirabel just ignored her abuela's request and looked at the very frightened Antonio. "Let's get you to your door." Mirabel said as she held out her hand just as she had done for each and everyone of her primas and primo's for their Gift Ceromonies. By this point no one was surprised by Mirabel walking the five year old up the stairs, but that did not mean that Alma was pleased at being once again disrespected infront of the entire Encanto in her own house no less. The Ceromony went well. Antonio touched the candle and then his door knob opened up to a room filled with jungle terrain and the new ability to talk to animals. Antonio was so excited that he rushed to his Mami to show her his new room. After a family photo they did include Mirabel again much to Alma's displeasure Antonio went to his Papi. "You should do it now." Antonio said, unable to hide his excitement. All of the cousins were all a little curious about what Antonio was talking about. Mariano was the one to come up with a guitar in his hands. "Hiccup is planning on proposing to Mirabel and I agree to do it now she looks amazing." He told his amigo. "Yes." The primas whispered with smiles lighting up their faces.
By this point Mirabel was getting a little curious about what everyone was talking about so she made her way over to the small group that got suspiciously quiet upon her arrival. Before Hiccup was able to stop them the cousins scattered to get all the other guests to be quiet and Hiccup's face grew more red at the passing second. With an encouraging look from Tonito and Mariano starting to play the guitar Hiccup knew that there was no turning back. All eyes were on him now and his were glued to Mirabel. Isabella and Doloris made their way to Abuela and their Madrias. "Antonio and Mariano are helping Hiccup with his marriage proposal for Mirabel!!!!" Isa said excitedly. Julietta and Pepa were overwhelmed with joy while Alma was ready to shut the whole thing down. She was about to head towards the couple when Julietta and Pepa stood in her path. "What are you doing? This needs to stop. That is inappropriate and she does not deserve it." Alma said unashamedly. "She deserves this and so much more and you are not going to ruin it. You will keep quiet or we will have Casita lock you in your room. With everyone distracted don't think we won't" Pepa said threateningly. Causing a little lighting, but not much for people to take notice. It was then they heard Hiccup start to sing even though he was not one for singing but he had wanted to do something special for the woman he is so helplessly, devotedly in love with.

Mirabel could not believe this was happening and she knew the song that Hiccup was singing, he once told her about it when he told her about his past and his parents. How it was their song and one of the happiest memories he still had of his two parents. One of the only memories he still had of his mother. She was almost in tears at the thought, but her thoughts were interrupted when he gently grabbed her hand and started to dance with her the same way they did on that same day he first told her the significance of the song. She moved hesitantly but quickly became in sync with Hiccup. Dancing with one another completely forgetting of the growing audience around them. Antonio's jagar Parce threw the young boy on his back as the Jagar was joyfully running around the couple keeping the villagers away so they wouldn't run into the couple.

Once Luisa, Oscar, and Camilo had first scattered before Mariano started to play the guitar the three decided to silence the entire part much to the confusion of their Padrias who were not in the loop of what was happening. "Woah where's the fire?" Augustine asked only to be answered by his youngest daughter. "Hiccup is about to propose to Mirabel and we are helping." The ten year old said before getting back to work at the task at hand. The bespecticaled man could only place his hand on his heart as he made his way to his wife before remembering Alma Madrigal. The only person who would dare ruin such a wonderful moment only because it involved Mirabel. He had no clue what that woman had against his oldest niece because it was getting ridiculous. In thought Augustine ran into his brother in law and filled him in on what the children were planning. The two men decided to head to their wives to help keep Alma at bay.

Pepa and Felix watched as the couple danced beautifully together. Thinking back to their wedding day and how amazing it was despite the weather. Yes, her brother might have ruined her day, but it was still very magical. Pepa noticed her husband trying his best to keep her from raining due to tears of joy. Julietta was pulled into a hug by her husband smiling that their niece was finding her happiness. Despite the desire to keep watching his niece Augustine kept a vigilant eye on his mother-in-law so she would not try to turn this around to make Mirabel look bad. He loves the woman he does but she is not the sweetest person he knows. The rest of the family feels the same way but they are scared of her that she would outcast them like she did with Bruno and Mirabel. The Madrigal Family loves the woman and understands her traditions and why she might be the way she is, but is worried about how Alma acts because of them. That is why they were grateful for Elsa then for Mirabel when she chose to take care of this family even if it was from Alma.

Alma was furious but would not dare let it show. She just simply could not believe that Mirabel could be so selfish and petty to ruin Antonio's Gift Ceromony. She has put up with a lot when Mirabel did not get her gift that night. Mirabel tries to help, she understands that but that girl is just not meant for anything why can't she see that? Her relationship with Antonio has simply gone too far. First she is soly responsible for her father leaving and the rebel nature of each of the grandkids. Yes Mirabel has walked every grandchild up the stairs for their ceremonies against her wishes but since they all seemed to get a gift she stayed quiet, but Antonio calling her Mami and that outsider Papi. Absolutely a disgrace Alma winces. Tomorrow morning during breakfast she will tell Mirabel infront of the whole family that she can not marry Hipo.

Hiccup could not believe that the most amazing woman he has ever met in his life was here with him. Ever since the day he met Mirabel he was positive that he had made the right choice in leaving Berk. At first he left for safety for Toothless, but as each day passed with Mira he realized that he should have left his tribe sooner. He was never truly happy until he came to Encanto.
To love and kiss to sweetly hold

Bruno and Elsa were so happy that their daughter had found a love like theirs, but devastated at not being able to be there with her to celebrate her joy. They were angered by Alma when she said that Mirabel did not deserve this but grateful for Pepa and Julietta for stopping her before she broke Mirabel's heart once again. After all of these years they hope that the prophice will not come to pass, but they also wonder if this has all been worth it. They pray that it was worth it or else they sacrificed being with their daughter for nothing.

Mirabel was in tears as she nodded as Hiccup put the ring on her finger standing up lifting her in a loving embrace. Everyone applauded at the newly engaged couple and Antonio rushed to his parents giving them a hug. "This is the best gift EVER!" He shouted, causing the room to laugh. Doloris made her way to Mariano as he set down the guitar. "That was beautiful." Doloris said, causing Mariano to smile. "Thank you, but Mirabel has been my best friend since we were kids. I was happy to do this." He said watching his friend smile as she was talking to her new fiance and her adoptive son. Doloris could not help but look at him lovingly little did she notice that her parents were watching her and her not so subtle crush on Mariano. "I hope to have something like that one day." She said before walking away to go crongradulate Mirabel, Mariano on the other was was left blushing fiercely. Alma was forcing a smile hoping to forget this incident all together. With everything in full swing no one but Doloris heard the cracks forming in Casita.
So we have finished another chapter before school starts and most of the USA is either in snow or recovering from a fire and I hope you all will send prayers to the families who have not only lost their homes but their people in thier lives. Just wanted to send that support out there. I don't have much to say but a bunch of songs will be in the next several chapters and as you can tell the OG story line of Encanto will be more of a rough outline than an actual guide. If you are reading this I can guess you all have read your fair share of Encanto fanfiction and watched the movie enough so let's shake it up a bit like we did with the dragons. All that being said, I will try to post more often than I have been. I will be taking two lecture classes and last time that's when I got a lot of writing down so let's hope I not only do well in my upcoming classes but I also get some writing done. I am hoping for at least four more chapters before we get to go into the second part of the How to Train A Dragon movie. Yep that's the only spoilers I'm giving and I hope everyone has had a Happy Holidays. I truly hope y'all have enjoyed this last chapter and until the next time. Bye-bye for now my little bookworms.
