The ride back is not as productive as Ozpin had hoped. 9S had asked to leave the hangar open. He didn't quite understand why, and was more interested in learning more about the two strangers, but when Ozpin saw the eyes on the young man, stark blue eyes full of wonder, he gave up all hope of learning anything on the ride, instead choosing to humor the young fellow. While Qrow flied the ship, Ozpin sat in the back, watching the two 'androids' gaze at the sunset. Hearing the two call themselves that raises a lot more questions than answers. He heard rumors about Atlas and General Ironwood trying to create sentient automatons, but at the time, they were just that: rumors. However, even looking at them from behind, he could feel how transfixed they were by the view of the setting sun. It was as if it was the first time they'd ever seen it. Well, if they really ran away from Atlas, maybe it was the first time they had time truly appreciate it. He lets out a puzzled sigh. Much like the young 9S, Ozpin has a great many questions to ask them. However...

"This is... a sunset?" Sitting near the open ramp, 2B and 9S are mesmerized by the sight before them. Their Earth had stopped rotating millennia ago, long before YoRHa was even founded. And, sure they've been deployed to areas where the sun was near or past the horizon before, but this was different. Seeing the sky change colors before their very eyes from a dark blue, growing darker and darker, but blending into orange and yellow the closer to the horizon you look, the stars slowly fading in, one by one as the sunlight gets fainter, "It's so..." Beautiful. Magical, ethereal, colorful. So many words come to mind that, ironically, none come out. Neither of them could have imagined that it would be like this. "Hey 2B? I... I wondered why so many records said that looking at the sunset was so romantic..." 9S trails off as he inches his hand closer to 2B's.
"I think we can both agree that none of them prepared us for the real thing" 2B says as she takes his hand. They stay like that for the rest of the flight, hands intertwined, gazing at the horizon in silence even after the sun had long since set.
.
"They really seem to care for each other" Ozpin muses aloud. Asking them about their past can wait. For now, let them gaze at the stars as they leave their past lives behind. Tomorrow, when the sun rises, Ozpin will offer them both a new beginning at Beacon.

Hello. Author here. Sorry for the really short chapter. Nonetheless I am incredibly proud of it. Anyways I'm having so much trouble writing for Ruby's introduction. Maybe I'll skip it? I don't know if I should though, because I want to make this fic for people who haven't seen RWBY as well. But, again, Ruby do be kicking my butt rn, But I think it'll be fine if I skip it because there will be plenty of chances to have characterization. right? (I'm not happy about it, but I do believe that if I try to write it, it won't be of quality.
Anyways, this is the end of Volume 0 (I just came up with that because this lil' moment deserves to be a bookend to something y'know? So. Next chapter, we get a short 300 word peek into what the machines are doing! (Finally!) and then we skip straight to initiation.
