Mina looked over at the green haired boy as they walked towards the sport's ground. She couldn't help but notice the pretty engagement ring on his finger, a smile spreading across her face, "So, who's the lucky girl?"

"Huh?"

"The ring on your finger, You're kinda young, but who's the lucky girl?"

Midoriya looked a bit upset, playing with the ring, "oh, uh, that would be-"

"Me," the giant heteromorphic thing hissed showing up suddenly, and a lot smaller, to wrap it's arms around Midoriya protectively, "He's. Mine."

"You're supposed to marry your Quirk?" A green haired girl with her hair in a high ponytail deadpanned.

"It's a long story," Midoriya said, "I don't want to talk about it."

Finally, they reached the field where Aizawa-Sensei was waiting. He looked them all over before nodding, "Midoriya, you had the highest score im the Entrance Exam. Come up here."

Midoriya did so, taking the ball from Aizawa-Sensei, "Take that and sending flying as far as you can. You can use any method, so long as you don't leave that circle.

Midoriya nodded, taking a bat offered by his Quirk as he went with a quiet, "Thanks, Rika."

He threw the ball in the air, before swinging the bat as it came down. When they hit, a shockwave boomed across the area and sent everyone staggering back a bit. The ball went flying out of UA grounds… At least, she thought it did.

"825.2 meters!" The phone in Aizawa-Sensei hand chirped off as Midoriya let the bat fade. He walked over to them, and Mina cheered, "That looked like fun!"

"Fun?" Aizawa-Sensei said, "you think hero work is fun? Arriving to a landslide, or a hurricane wrecked city? A dead civilian in a mugging? A-"

"Child run over by a car?" Midoriya said softly, morbidly, and Aizawa-Sensei gave him a look of… Understanding?

"Exactly. Hero work is hard, it's brutal, it's about fixing the disaster of being inevitably late. If you think it's gonna be fun, go back to the room and pack your bag because you aren't ready for Hero Work yet. Or stay, and be prepared to go through living hell to test your limits. If "giving it your best" is "your best", you don't belong here, you need to go Plus Ultra, "Further Beyond", stretch your limits until they break and then break those limits too. Prepare yourself for tragedies; at least 5 in 40 Hero Course students it die or quit in the first five years

of heroing, are you going to let that be you, or are you going to be part of the 35 that stays?"

Zen'in Maki stood waiting for the first heroics lesson to start, wearing a black sleeveless shirt that hugged her curves and equally tight black pants, a half cape covering her upper body, In one hand, she held the Playful Cloud three quarter staff . She watched Midoriya step out, wearing a green sweatshirt and black pants, a katana on his back.

"Hey," she said, "Zen'in Maki, but just call me Maki."

"Midoriya Izuku, call me whatever you want," he said, bags under his eyes.

"Look at you!" All Might declared as everyone gathered, "The very spirit of Heroics! Now, for this exercise I'll be splitting you into teams of two and pitting you against each other. One team, acting as Villains, wins if they defeat the hero team or last fifteen minutes. The hero team wins by capturing the villain team or captures the bomb they'll be guarding! And first up is-"

All Might pressed a button on his phone, before showing them all the results.

Villains

Zen'in Maki Midoriya Izuku

Vs

Heroes

Tokoyami Fumikage Jiro Kyoka.

"Get going, Villains, you have five minutes to prepare before the Heroes come for you!"

It was quick enough to find the bomb and relocate it to the dead center of the building, at which point, Izuku asked "So, what's your Quirk?"

"Don't have one," Maki said brazenly, daring him to see something about it, "I'm just athletic."

"Oh, ok," he said as if she had just said her favorite food, "Let me give you a boost to help us against Tokoyami."

The monstrous Quirk appeared behind him suddenly and handed him a flashlight, tossing it to Maki, who caught it in confusion, "Is this a joke?"

"No, my Quirk Authentic Mutual Love, let's me copy Quirks I see in action and store them inside Rika until I need them. That Flashlight holds the Villain Seizure's Quirk, Strobing Light, in it. If Tokoyami's Quirk acts like his shadow, flashing that at them should weaken it. Meanwhile, I'll-" Midoriya handed Rika the katana, who then handed him an identical one, "-will be using this. It has the Rescue Hero, Flood Light's Quirk infused in it."

"And what about Jiro?"

"Her Quirk, I'm guessing, is better for reconnaissance, we should be able to take her out without any tools."

"They're near the center of the building," Fumikage nodded, walking into the building while Jiro stayed outside to act as backup if things went wrong.

"Ready to win, Fumi?" Dark Shadow asked, coming out of his navel.

"We should be careful, that boy carries a darkness of his own," Fumikage said, in what he assumed was a sagely tone.

"Yeah, that thing is… Weird," Dark Shadow said, "I don't like it Fumi."

"Tokoya-!" Jiro yelled in his ear before cutting off. What had happened? Should he go back? He-

Then the ceiling caved in on him..

"Here's a plan," Maki said, and Izuku looked up, "We each go for one member of the opposite team at once, you take care of Tokoyami, I take care of Jiro."

"That could work," Izuku agreed, standing up and taking a pair of headphones with a jack in tuem, plugging them into the floor, he said, "Tokoyami just entered the building. When you're done with Jiro, come in to support me."

"Sounds good," Maki couldn't help but feel the satisfaction of someone with such a strong and versatile Quirk expecting her to win her fight, "Ready?"

Izuku nodded, and they both took off down the hallway at lightning speed, Maki smashing through the window and landing in a one handed frontflip. She grabbed Playful Cloud and swung it at Jiro's chest as the other girl started to cry out a warning.

Jiro staggered back, and jabbed one earphone jack into Maki's leg, sending a pull through it that made Maki's bones groan. Maki didn't care, rushing forwards and slamming Playful Cloud into Jiro's chest again, feeling something crack as she did. Clicking the three pieces together, she smacked them into Jiro's nose. Wrapping the three quarters around Jiro's head, she pulled her forwards and onto Maki's knee with a satisfying crunch, letting the girl drop.

Rushing in, she found Izuku dueling Dark Shadow, cutting off its limbs and causing it to shrink in size. Lifting the flashlight, she clicked it, closing her eyes against the strobing light.

"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami called out desperately. Maki dropped the light and came charging forwards with Playful Cloud, at the same time, Midoriya swung out with the butt of his katana, knocking Tokoyami's head down, when Playful Cloud crashed into his side and Rika punched him in the back.

The bird headed boy tried to stagger three ways at once before collapsing unconscious.
