Zenna's POV

The air was cold and thin. I was paralyzed and could barely see. Minutes passed and I was still here. But where was 'here'? I searched the world around me, but my vision was too blurry to see.

'Oh crap, It's finally happened, I'm dead.'

-You're not dead, stop being so dramatic.-

'Then where am I?'

-You're still inside the chamber, idiot.-

I slowly tried to stand, my whole body aching. My vision slowly adjusted and I set out for the temple.

It took a long time, but I was finally approaching the temple. I could tell I was close, I could see the outline of it as I got closer. I wasn't far- only a few meters away, when my vision started to fade. I could see a blurry figure above the patched-up doorway.

"Who goes there?" I heard a familiar voice say. "Wait, Is that…?"

My arm ached and I held it to my chest as I forced myself to move toward the temple. I desperately tried to keep my eyes open, I really did, but It was getting harder to move and I was breathing heavily. Eventually, I gave in and fell to the ground, embracing sleep to come to my tired body. The last thing I saw was the person running toward me as they shouted something I couldn't hear.

An image of a Man appeared, a red glow surrounded him. I came closer to him cautiously, stopping a mere five feet away from him. His face was covered by a prismarine mask, blocking me from seeing his face. I reached out to him, taking off his mask. Upon seeing his face, I quickly pulled back in shock and fear, dropping the mask. He bore a devilish smile on his face, and his charcoal-like eyes burned through my soul. I knew who he was- I knew all of the important characters in this universe, but something about him seemed oddly familiar. No, not the type of familiarity you feel when you see a character you know of. It was the type of familiarity you felt when seeing someone you actually knew.

And then, I woke up.

I was on a bed, the covers tucked in to help keep me warm. The sun beamed through holes in the temple's walls and roof, practically blinding me as it glared straight into my eyes.

-Finally, you're awake. You really like to sleep, don't you?-

'I passed out, I didn't sleep.'

-Same difference. Whatever, 'you black out a lot.' There, is that better?-

I sat up, my shoes making a clapping noise on the dusty floor as I attempted to haul myself to my feet.

-That might not be a good idea.-

'What do you mean?'

I slide off the bed and to my feet.

-Yesterday, you were limping.-

'I'm fine-'

I immediately fell flat on my face. I could hear the voice giggling, causing me to groan in irritation.

I stumbled to my feet, my arm stinging from the sudden use.

'Why does my arm hurt so much?'

I looked down at my arm, it was purple. Just like that, I knew I had gotten infected by the Witherstorm. Lucky, lucky me. I sighed, but didn't dwell on it too long.

'I should check on Lukas, he must be worried.'

I snuck down the stairs, trying not to make too much noise. I peeked through the door to Lukas' new watchtower. His blond hair blew in the wind and his ocean eyes sparkled in the sunlight. He had a wide grin on his face as he basked in the wind and sun.

'He must really enjoy the view in order to look this happy- especially after all the moments he stayed solemn in the past.'

I patiently waited in the doorway for a few more seconds, hoping he'd notice me before I'd have to deliberately wake him from his moment of glee. Eventually, I gave in and started walking toward him.

Lukas' POV

I had been keeping guard and fighting off monsters while everyone else was gone. The Temple was in a sorry state. Even after I built the new entrance, the whole place was pretty unstable.

I walked over to my watch station, which was simply a ledge above the doorway. Zenna was in the second story of the temple, sleeping more peacefully than I've ever seen a person be. It's surprising that she's still alive after all that happened, but here she is, alive and well. In fact, she was already almost completely healed. Ultimately, this says a lot about how important sleep can be.

Now that I think of it, every time she leaves, she comes back with something new. While at the competition, as her friends built, she randomly got a light tan leather jacket. When she went after Reuben, Jesse's pig friend, she came back with a necklace. Even now, she came back to me with an aquamarine ribbon in her hair, a few prismarine shards decorating the middle of it. It was curious, very odd. Somehow, it simply just made me even more interested in her- who she is, where she came from, etc.

Suddenly, I was pulled from my thoughts. I saw Zenna staring at me, slowly coming closer, a puzzled expression on her face. Or was she just still disoriented by her sleep?

"Oh, hey Zenna," I greeted.

"Hey Lukas!" She said, smiling brightly.

The pure delight on her face from merely being talked to said a lot, she must have been lonely during her journey here. Nonetheless, her smile brought me one of my own. Unfortunately, her mood soured once more.

"Uh, how.. how long was I out for?" She asked.

"Not too long, just five hours," I replied reassuringly.

However, She took this in a completely non-reassuring way. Her eyes widened and she gasped, zoning out while staring at the ground beside me.

Zenna's POV

"Five hours…" I echoed.

'Five hours?!'

-That's weird, you usually sleep longer than that.-

"Zenna?"

Snapping out of my trance, I looked up at Lukas.

"You okay? You kinda spaced out there," He explained.

I nodded before saying goodbye and walking away to look around the temple and think for a while.

'It's so pretty.'

-And dirty.-

'The mess makes it look cool!'

After taking a quick look around, I came to a conclusion: I'm hungry. So, I decided to go out and forage. Since it's morning, I wouldn't have to look out for monsters. The sun is bright and warm, the breeze is cool, it's the perfect time of day for a quick stroll.

I traversed through the halls until I finally walked out into the fresh air.

'I have a question.'

-Go on.-

'Are you really just a voice? Like, no body, nothing?'

-I do indeed have a physical form. Why do you ask?-

'Really?! Where are you, what do you look like?'

-Shush, your questions irritate me.-

'Aw…'
