Once the others came with the normal hoard of monsters, we all jumped onto the flying machine and started levitating across the gap to Ivor's house thing. Meanwhile, me and Soren were holding on for dear life.
We jumped off once we got there. I mostly just stared at all the books while Jesse did his things. 'Time to waste more time on books!'
The first book I looked at was just building tutorials. Boring. Then there was a book of mobs, the usual stuff. Potion book, I wouldn't know how to use it. And lastly, another book by Soren.
'Wow, not much here, is there?'
I heard the sound of the fireplace secret for snapping shut.
'Well crap. Now what?'
I looked over at the books on the shelf.
'..Well, I've got a bit of time, might as well read the admin book I got earlier.'
I reached into my inventory and pulled out the book. I mostly just read about the stuff I already knew. There were also some things I didn't know.
According to the book, each admin's gauntlet is the color category clockwise from the opposite of their designated color. For instance, the opposite of red is green, and the category clockwise from it is blue-green.
The opposite of blue is orange, and the color category clockwise to it is yellow-orange. Fred's yellow-ish gold gauntlet was slightly off color, but still very close to what the book claimed.
I closed the book, putting it back into my inventory for later.
'…Well, now what? Jesse is doing cool stuff, and I'm just here waiting! Guess I'll go bug Lukas.'
I quickly walked over to Lukas. Just like I was a few moments ago, he was reading a book. I moved silently closer, then sat down. He didn't notice me.
So, like anyone else would do when a friend of theirs is busy, I left him to do his thing.
Just kidding, I leaned on his arm and said into his ear, "Hi Lukas!"
He immediately jumped up, startled by my antics. I laughed at his reaction, knowing very well that I'm probably a terrible person for that. He calmed down when he saw it was just me and slowly sat back down.
"Hey, Z. What's up?" He asked.
"I got bored and decided to hang out with you."
"Oh, cool. So… how're you doing?"
"I'm fine."
"You sure?"
"Well, are you sure that you're okay?"
"Well I'm not the one who's sick."
"Well I'm not the one who looks like a kicked puppy."
"I do not!"
"Yes you do, you look like your favorite cartoon just got canceled whenever you look at me. Do I really look that bad?"
"I mean, kinda, yeah."
"Ouch, that hurt."
"What did? Are you okay?!"
I stare at him. He instantly smirked at me.
"Wow, you offend me. I'm not that dumb, Z."
"Could've fooled me."
"Hey!"
We talked a while longer until Ivor finally decided to finally come back. He rounded us up and brought us to where Jesse, Soren, and Reuben were.
He opened the weird hidden passageway and brought us through the doors Jesse unlocked. It surprised me that nobody questioned the fact he was leading us somewhere with no explanation.
Then, we just stood outside the door while Soren confessed to his group's fraudery. Everyone started gasping dramatically and blaming Soren.
Remember, Ivor did all of this just so he could embarrass Soren. What a great friend he is, I'm so glad he will officially join our group soon.
While everyone freaked out at Soren, I just walked over and patted his back.
"Uh.. Zenna? What are you doing?" Asked Olivia.
"I'm being a decent person. You do realize that you guys' idols also did this crap, yet you're yelling at him and only him?"
"Yeah, but…"
"But what? Is it illegal to make mistakes now? We've made our fair share of those, what makes this different?"
"He lied to everyone, to the world!"
"Isn't that what Ivor told us? The man who set loose a witherstorm that's destroying the world as we speak? He made a mistake too, and he never apologized, unlike Soren. If we don't get over this and go defeat the witherstorm, then there won't be a world to lie to anymore."
"Well, yeah, but…"
"But what?"
"I… I guess you're right.."
After that, no one spoke. We all just went off to the enchantment book and Jesse made his weapon.
...A diamond hoe.
Great job, Jesse.
He enchanted it, then Ivor pulled a lever and the cool armor thing happened. Jesse chose to wear the teal set of armor, also known as "Ender Defender".
Since I don't belong in the game, there wasn't a designated armor for me. Instead, I got to choose from the remainder of Jesse's armor choices. Of course, I chose the one in the middle, also known as "Shield of infinity".
I'll be honest, I chose it only because of the green stripes on it. There's no hiding it, it's pretty obvious.
We left to go smite the witherstorm. It took a long time, but I could care less. I mean, I was decked out in awesome armor!
When we got there, we annoyed the endermen while half of our group ran off. Soren stayed for a little while longer than usual to thank me for sticking up for him earlier, but he eventually left like always.
While Jesse did his main character crap, I was in agony with my whole wither sickness crap. Apparently, running around and annoying endermen while sick isn't good for you. Who'd have guessed? For some reason, not me.
Instead, I helped Lukas With his fireworks while the others built a machine to blast Jesse into the witherstorm. They chose a minecart launcher. Jesse got into the minecart, and Olivia pulled the lever.
Jesse launched up into the air, landing inside a gap in the witherstorm. Meanwhile, the rest of us continued distracting stuff.
I saw Reuben fall from the witherstorm. Sadly, I knew that I couldn't save him. He was too far from us for anyone to catch him. Even if we could catch him, he'd still die from the impact, as well as the person who'd catch him.
I watched from afar as Reuben spent his last breath, Jesse comforting him. I didn't dare walk over, I'd already spent enough tears on him from all the times I played or watched people play the game.
Of course, I still mourned Reuben, but I watched far enough away from him that his porkchop didn't render in my vision… which wasn't that far. 'I think I need glasses.'
"You're ruining the moment."
'Shh, I'm brooding.'
"No, you're joking after someone just died."
'Well you try watching people you care about die over and over again!'
"Who are you, Sans Undertale?"
'Pfft, and you said I ruined the moment.'
"Because you did."
'Whatever.'
It was painful to see someone die, especially when I could have gone into the witherstorm with them. I could have prevented his death.
Obviously, I attended the memorial, but I chose not to stay long.
At the speech Jesse has at the end of the game, I chose to be in the crowd instead of on stage. Being famous is cool, but I've got stage fright, and I didn't even do much to help them on the journey.
Gabriel confessed his group's mistake during the speech. It was honestly painful to watch, especially with how regretful and sorrowful he looked. Ivor got what he wanted, but for what price?
At least the beacon was cool to look at.
Oh, also, my wither sickness went away. It feels much better to not be sick, but the fact that I'm fine and Reuben isn't leaves an awful taste in my mouth.
Okay, I'll admit, that was a terrible chapter.
Yep.
I had to get the episode done, though!
But for what cost?
Most of the chapter and most of the episode..
And what AREN'T you going to do next time?
Rush..
Good.
Oh, also, I might possibly leave for a while after Wednesday. I've got some stuff to do. Anyway, bye!
Bye!
