The group was all standing around a bench in the middle of the courtyard outside the library. Odd was sitting on the bench, playing with a small egg shaped toy that was making loud beeping sounds, and fully distracting him. The others of the group were discussing a plan for a trip to Sector Five to get more data on Josh's program and how interconnected with Lyoko it actually was. "Odd? Are you paying attention?" Jeremy asked, noticing him distracted. "What?" Odd asked looking up. "Don't you ever put that Tamagotchi down?" Josh asked. "Yea, when I am waiting or sleeping." Odd said in defense. "And on that note, I am heading to lunch" Odd added walking away. "I think we may need to do something about that." Yumi said. "Yeah, he is getting hooked on it, the number of times I have been woken up at night even with my ear plugs in is insane." Ulirch stated. "Well, we could always just take it away from him in the middle of the night." Jeremy said. "No, because knowing Odd he would stop at nothing to find who took it." Aelita replied. "I think I know what to do." Josh said with a smile. "I will fill you in once it's done." He added before walking to follow Odd to lunch. "I wonder what he plans on doing?" Yumi asked. "I don't know but I suspect I will find out at some point.." Ulrich replied as the group headed for lunch.
In the lunchroom Odd was sitting at the table with Josh. "Hey Odd, can I look at your Tamagotchi?" Josh asked. "Sure, but only if you don't hit any buttons." Odd said distracted by his food more than the toy, after a short while Josh handed it back having not actually touched any of the buttons. Soon the rest of the group arrived at the table and began to eat. A short while later, once they had all mostly finished their lunch Jeremy spoke up. "Okay, so to continue on what we were discussing earlier, on Saturday after classes you guys will be taking a trip to Sector Five so Aelita and Josh can collect some data." He said. "Hopefully we will find what we are looking for." Aelita said, getting up. "I have got some history homework to do." She added, shortly after the rest of the group went off their own ways, Jeremy and Josh headed for the factory to work on some programs and also prepare for the mission on Saturday, Ulrich and Yumi walked off together and Odd went back to his room.
At the factory, Jeremy was busy digging into the inner workings of the materialization program for the first time in what seemed like ages, determined to find more details on the events that occur when Josh is materialized. "Could you bring up that program to monitor the amount of my code integrated into Lyoko?" Josh asked, having been watching over Jeremy's shoulder, hoping to spot something as well. "Sure." Jeremy said, minimizing the materialization program's file he was looking at and opening the monitor, which showed that approximately thirty percent of Josh's program was integrated into the core of Lyoko, and five percent into each sector of the remaining with twenty five percent remaining as his digital profile on the super computer. "That's strange, there's thirty five percent of my code that the program can't account for." Josh said, slightly concerned. "I might be able to explain that, if each of the remaining sectors contain five percent, then the forest sector must have contained five percent as well. The other missing 25% I suspect, is currently in you. It is most likely what gives you your powers." Jeremy answered. "That does make a lot of sense. Although that also increases the importance of protecting the remaining sectors." Josh responded before adding. "I am going to head back to campus."
"Okay, see you tomorrow then." Jeremy said, waving as Josh walked to the elevator.
Later that night after all the lyoko warriors had gone to sleep, two computers were stirred to life, seemingly browsing through the network by themselves and accessing files by effortlessly bypassing strong firewalls.
In the morning the group had met up in the cafeteria for breakfast. "So Odd, where's your tamagotchi?" Josh asked innocently, noticing he didn't have it with him. "In my room, overnight it must have broken, since it wouldn't turn on this morning at all." Odd said, sounding annoyed. "Oh." Josh replied, trying not to smile. "So after classes we will be meeting up at the factory, to get the data we need from Sector Five." Jeremy said getting up, since it was almost time for class. "We better get going, don't want to be late science with Mrs. Hertz." Ulrich said.
Meanwhile a black van pulled up to the campus, parking near the offices. Two men in black suits, with black sunglasses got out of the van and walked into the building. Once they entered the administration building they walked up to the secretary Ms. Weber. "Hello, we need to speak to the school's principal for reasons involving national security." One of the two agents said. "Okay. I will get him right away." She said getting up and walking into Mr. Delmas's office. A few moments later she stepped back out and invited the two agents in. "Hello, how may I help you?" Mr. Delmas asked, sitting behind his desk. "Hello, I am Agent Smith, my associate is Agent Philip. We are here for reasons involving national security, last night a computer network owned by the Department of Defense was hacked, many files involving the security of the country's nuclear arsenal were accessed, during this time our technicians were able to track connection back to your school" Agent Smith said. "Oh dear, I can assure you, you will have my fully cooperation in your investigation." Mr. Demlas replied. "Good, we need to know who has access to these two phone lines." Agent Phillip said, handing Demlas a paper with Josh's and Jeremy's phone numbers on them. "Those lines belong to Jeremy Belpois and Josh Anderson" Mr. Delmas responded.
Jim soon joined the two agents and Delmas in walking to Jeremy's room first. "This is Jeremy Belpois room." Jim said, opening the door. "While that is an impressive setup, it doesn't have nearly enough processing power to have been the source of the hack." Agent Smith said, noticing that Jeremy, had at least three visible computers that were connected together for increased performance. "Take us to Josh Anderson's room." Agent Phillip said. Once there Jim opened the door and they walked inside. "This is strange, his computer appears to not have any operating system installed, as if he was trying to hide something." Agent Smith stated. "We want you to set up a meeting with these two students." Agent Philip said. "While we are having our meeting, our teams will be setting up wiretaps on their wireless phones and surveillance on all their dorm phone lines." Agent Smith added. "I might be able to help with that." Jim said. "I have never told you this sir, but I was a secret service agent for a couple of years, but I can't talk about it due to national security." Jim said, offering his help. "If we need any help we will ask." Agent Smith replied.
After Science class with Ms Hertz, Odd, Ulrich, Aelita, Jeremy and Josh walked out of the door. As they did Jim and Delmas were standing by the door. "Jeremy Belpois and Josh Anderson" Jim said, walking in front of them. Jeremy and Josh looked over. "Come with us to my office." Mr. Delmas said. "Okay." Jeremy said, looking at his friends a bit concerned. Odd, Aelita and Ulrich watched as they walked away. "I wonder what's going on." Ulrich said. "So do I." Aelita said, worried.
As the two walked into Delmas' office, they both noticed the two agents sitting off to the side, wearing black suits and white shirts. As the two agents got up, Josh and Jeremy exchanged worrying looks. "Hello, Belpois and Anderson. I am Agent Smith and my partner is Agent Phillip. Take a seat. We would like to ask you a few questions." Agent Smith said. "Okay. Go ahead, we have nothing to hide." Jeremy said, sitting down. "Last night a computer network owned by the Department of Defense was hacked, during the attack we traced the hackers back to this campus, specifically both of your phone lines." Agent Philip said, leaning on Delmas' desk. "Well, I can assure you, it wasn't either of us. Do you really think two kids could hack through whatever security measures you have?" Josh said bluntly. "We don't know, but we will be taking both of your computer systems to do a full investigation." Agent Smith said. "Wait, what?! But I have documents for class I need saved on my computer and laptop." Jeremy said, pretending to be worried about class work, after remembering that information about Aelita and her father was saved on his computer in his room. "You both will be excused for any assignments that required you to type or research anything until this matter is solved." Demlas stated, being as cooperative as possible."So are we free to go?" Josh asked. "For now." Agent Phillip replied, letting the two boys leave the office. Agent Smith then got a phone call from the tech group in charge of wire tapping the phones. "Looks like the wire taps are already in place." Agent Smith said, putting his phone in his pocket, before walking out the door with Agent Phillip, heading back to their van where they had equipment to receive the taps.
Once Jeremy and Josh left the office, Jeremy texted the others to head to the factory for a meeting. Once they reached the factory Jeremy began to explain what was going on. "Okay, so when Delmas wanted to speak to us, it was actually two agents from the government wanting to talk to us, because apparently our computers hacked a network owned by the Department of Defense." Jeremy said. "And they decided they wanted to take our computers to investigate. Which is the issue, my computer contains both the program that allows me to remotely access the supercomputer and also data from Franz Hopper's diary." Jeremy added. "That's not good." Aelta said, fear on her face. "We should launch a return to the past, we could unplug our computers then." Josh said. "That is the plan, at least it will be, but first I want to make sure Xana wasn't somehow involved." Jeremy replied, typing on the computer as he was typing a tower activated in the Ice Sector. "Speak of the devil."
Back on campus the agents got back out of their van having gotten a phone call from one of their techs that they found evidence on both suspects' computers linking to a highly complex and powerful mainframe. Heading back into the administration building they headed Delmas' office. "We are going to be taking Belpois and Anderson into federal custody." Agent Smith said. "I am going to have to see some paperwork for that, and information to give their parents." Delmas replied looking up, shocked at the statement. "That information is being faxed over right now." Agent Smith replied. "Okay. Once I have it I will make sure to have Jim get them from their rooms." Delmas said. "No, need. Our techs have pinpointed their phones to an abandoned car factory not far from the campus." Agent Philip said. "That's strange, they should not be off campus." Delmas said worriedly.
Back at the factory, Jeremy was beginning the virtualization process for Aelita, Odd and Ulrich first. Once they were virtualized on Lyoko, he began the process for Yumi and Josh. "The tower should be north of your location." Jeremy said typing to virtualize their vehicles. "You should be able to see it from your location." He added before hearing the elevator start up, heading back to the surface.
On Lyoko the group got onto their vehicles, Aelita getting on the Overwing with Yumi, Josh getting on the Overbike with Ulrich and Odd on his Overboard. As they approached the tower, they noticed the sheer lack of monsters. "This is weird, it's as if Xana wants us to reach the tower." Yumi said, stopping a short distance away from the activated tower. "Strange, he has done stuff like this before just to get us to Lyoko." Josh replied. "You guys may be alone, but I think I may have some company on the way." Jeremy said to the group through the mic, hearing the elevator heading down. Hearing this Aelita began heading for the tower, just for it to deactivate as she reached it. "Jeremy, the tower just deactivated itself." Aelita said but got no reply.
In the lab the elevator opened, revealing both agents. "Belpios, step away from the computer." Agent Smith said. "You're under arrest." Agent Phillip said, walking towards him. "For what?" Jeremy asked, looking over at them. "For computer hacking crimes, and make this easy, where is your accomplice, Mr. Anderson?" Agent Phillip replied. "I don't know." Jeremy said lying. "We know he is here somewhere, since we traced both of your phones. Agent Smith, take him away for questioning, I will stay here and try to find our other suspect." Agent Phillip stated. Agent Smith led Jeremy away from the console and towards the elevator, where Agent Smith led him to their van. Shortly after a new tower activated and two specters slowly left the supercomputer, one heading out to Agent Smith, the other going for Agent Phillip.
"Jeremy?" Aelita asked, standing next to the tower that had deactivated itself. "Somethings not right." Josh said. "Odd, I need you to devirtualize me." He added. "Okay? But why?" Odd asked, taking aim. "Because, if Jeremy had company on the way and now he isn't answering, something must have happened to him." Josh explained. "Please be careful." Aelita warned Josh, worried about Jeremy. "I will be." Josh said as Odd shot him with a few laser arrows devirtualizing him. Josh stumbled out of a scanner before heading towards the elevator. In the lab Agent Phillip was attacked by the spector, taking over.
The elevator reached the lab and opened, allowing Josh to see Agent Phillip. "Well this isn't good." Josh said to himself as Agent Phillip turned around reaching a hand out towards him, a bolt of electricity streaking from his hand towards Josh.
Outside Jeremy was running back towards the factory with Agent Smith now also possessed following not far behind. He managed to swing down to the floor of the factory before Agent Smith caught up with him.
In the lab, Josh managed to jump out of the way of the bolt of electricity, landing near the console. He quickly got up and put on the headset, quickly localizing the tower. "There's a tower activated in the mountain sector." Josh said before having to jump away from the console, as Agent Phillip launched another bolt of electricity towards him, the bolt hit the console causing the screen to glitch out for a couple of seconds. "Better be careful, don't want to break your toy." Josh said tauntingly, before starting to climb the ladder at the side of the lab to escape. As he did so Agent Phillip walked towards the elevator, taking it down towards the scanner room. When Josh noticed this he quickly went down the ladder to the scanner room, where he saw Agent Phillip ripping the wires out of the scanners.
Jeremy ran towards the elevator on the floor of the factory and hit the button, as Agent Smith slowly walked towards him, shortly the elevator appeared and Jeremy quickly entered it, hitting the button to go down to the lab. As the elevator went down Agent Smith jumped onto the top and grabbed a hold of the cables, electricity beginning to race up and down them from his hands, causing the cable's strands to begin to break one by one. As this happened the elevator began to shutter as it neared the lab's floor, the door opened and not seconds after Jeremy stepped out, the elevator plummeted down the elevator shaft with Agent Smith still on top, slamming into the bottom sending a bunch of dust back up the shaft. Jeremy walked over to the console, put on his headset and sat down, taking in all that was happening. "Guys be careful, the scanners appear to be offline." He said typing to investigate. "Seems like Xana has damaged them."
On Lyoko the group had already made it to the mountain sector and were on their way to the tower. "Strange, Xana still isn't putting up any sort of fight." Aelita said. "Your right, that's strange, although you are still a ways from the tower." Jeremy said.
In the scanner room, Josh was struggling with Agent Phillip trying to stop any more damage being done. Unfortunately for him, Agent Phillip just grabbed a hold of his hand when he attempted to hit him, and gave him a large jolt of electricity, knocking Josh backwards and making him pass Phillip then opened the hatch in the middle of the floor and jumped down to the floor holding the super computer itself, landing directly on top of it before hopping off to by the elevator door. He then reached out both hands and began to send bolts of electricity into the supercomputer.
On Lyoko a island near the path the group was on began to flicker, turning into a wire mesh before flickering away totally. "Jeremy! I think we have a major problem here." Yumi said shocked at the disappearance. "You're telling me." Jeremy replied, his voice distorted and full of static as he had multiple errors popping up on his screen warning of errors occurring randomly across various sub systems of the supercomputer. "Something very bad must be happening down below." Jeremy said bring up the camera feed of the supercomputer room to see Agent Phillip attempting to destroy the supercomputer. "Just great… one of the agents is attempting to fry the supercomputer, and the scanners hardware is damaged, so there is no chance I could bring you in." Jeremy said his voice becoming more and more distorted to everyone on Lyoko. "Xana's plan is diabolical. If the Supercomputer's destroyed, Lyoko will disappear forever, and all of us along with it!" Aelita said, a bit worried. "Focus on getting the tower deactivated, I am going to see if I can do anything about it." Jeremy said, putting down the headset and going down the ladder to the scanner room, where he saw Josh on the floor. "Josh!" Jeremy said, rushing to his side. As he yelled, Josh opened his eyes, having a hard time keeping them open, the room appearing blurry. "Jeremy? What's going on, did the other deactivate the tower yet?" He asked, his speech slightly slurred. "No, they haven't made it there yet, and one of the agents is down below attempting to destroy the supercomputer." Jeremy answered. "I guess that explains how I am feeling." Josh said, trying to stand up. "Go back to the lab, I will try and stop him." Josh added, limping towards the elevator."No, you're in no shape to go down the ladder in the elevator shaft. You go up to the lab, and I will go down." Jeremy said, seeing that Josh was barely able to walk.
After this exchange, Josh began to make his way up to the lab while Jeremy, opened the elevator door and climbed onto the ladder heading down to the supercomputer's floor, where he opened the door and jumped into the room. As he did so Agent Phillip stopped attacking the supercomputer and turned towards him, red sliding across his black glasses, the eye of Xana briefly showing.
On Lyoko, the group's vehicles began to flicker and turn into wire frames as they neared the tower, then vehicles falling closer and closer to the ground. "Looks like we will have to go on foot." Ulrich said before noticing two megatanks guarding the tower. "Also looks like Xana is pulling out the big guns." He added, as one of the megatanks began rolling towards their location before opening and preparing to fire its laser wall at them. The megatank fired, a red wall racing toward Aelita, Yumi, Ulrich and Odd, who each jumped either left or right of it. "Odd you go for this one and Yumi and I will get the other." Urlich said. "Aelita, hurry to the tower, while they are distracted with us." He added.
Back in the supercomputer room, Jeremy had to quickly jump out of the way of a bolt of electricity as Agent Phillip tried to hit him. While he was catching his breath, Agent Smith emerged out of the elevator shaft, and the two began to corner Jeremy. They both began to send electricity at him, both hitting their mark.
On Lyoko, Ulrich was distracting one megatank, running back and forward, making it have to keep turning to try and line up a shot, while Yumi threw her fan at it, destroying it. While this was happening Odd was running for his life as the other megatank was chasing him, trying to flatten him.
Using this distraction Aelita ran for the tower, entering it she slowly floated up to the top, the panels on the walls of the tower glitching and flickering in and out of existing as the codes for the tower struggles to continue processing properly with the damage that had been done. Once she reached the top, the interface appears, visibly glitching just as much as the rest of the tower. "Please work…" Aeltia said to herself, placing her hand on the interface to authenticate with the tower before entering the deactivation code. As she did the red aura around the tower slowly faded.
In the supercomputer room, Jeremy fell to the ground out code, as did the two agents. In the lab Josh, tried his best to type in the return to the past activation codes, barely able to read what he was typing. He then hit the enter key activating the return to the past. A large white light expanded slowly from the supercomputer, rewinding time back to shortly after lunch the day before.
The time that the bad rewound to was when Josh and Jeremy were both in the lab attempting to work on Josh's materialization related issue. Josh sat down on the holosphere. "That was horrible." Josh said to himself. "What was horrible?" Jeremy asked over hearing. "How the damage to the supercomputer was making me feel. It felt like I was living in a dense fog, everything was blurry, and my motions where sluggish. I was barely able to even launch the return to the past in the condition I was in." He responded. "That just makes it even more important to fix this then." Jeremy said. "Btw what did you do to Odd's Tamagotchi?" Jeremy asked. "I just reprogrammed it, gave it a set death time." Josh replied. "Easiest way to make him stop playing with it and not have him freaking out over it." He added.
You will have noticed that I totally changed how this episode went compared to how it did in the show. This is because I felt that in the show the investigation was just overly silly and honestly didn't make sense from a logical point of view.
