Season 1, Saga 2: Chaos Emerald, Chapter 10: Emerald Anniversary
(Scene: Area 99, day.)
(Government workers are working on a robot. Supervisor is presenting the robot to the Director of Central Intelligence.)
"It's very impressive isn't it?" the Supervisor asked
"That's it?" the Director of Central Intelligence asked
"Project Beetle is just a prototype, of course, based on our analysis of Dr. Eggman's technology. But if all goes as planned, we'll soon have our own working robot." the Supervisor said
"The president considers this project to be a national priority." the Director of Central Intelligence said
"We won't let him down." the Supervisor said
(Scene Change: Station Square, day.)
(Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz are sitting in front of a jewelry store. Rouge is hanging in a tree with the Treasure Scope while Topaz is drinking coffee as Bartleby was curled up on Topaz's lap, napping.)
"What a fabulous display. I wish I had a rock collection like that." Rouge said
"You're a thief!" Topaz said
"I haven't stolen them yet Topaz!" Rouge said
"So, then you are planning a robbery, aren't you? Excuse me, could somebody get the police and tell them there's a thief hanging around here!?" Topaz asked
(People turn towards Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz. Rouge startles and hides.)
(Comes back down) "I know why you are so passive-aggressive towards me. You're jealous of me, because I'm the glamorous team member." Rouge said
"Rouge, don't taunt her." Bartleby said
"If you think I'm the least bit jealous of you, then you really are bats. Huh?" Topaz asked
(A limo drives in front of the jewelry store. Black suited security people come out and secure the entrance. Nelson Thorndyke then comes out from the limo.)
"That's Nelson Thorndyke!" a man said
"The computer mogul?" another man asked
"What a hunk." a woman said
(Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz are wondering what Nelson is doing here.)
(Scene Change: Inside the store.)
"Good morning!" the Jewelers said
"Hello." Nelson said
"Thank you for visiting our store, Mr. Thorndyke. Is there something we can help you find today?" the male jeweler asked
"Yes, I'm shopping for an anniversary present for my wife." Nelson said
"You've come to the right place, sir. We've got full line matrimonial mementos, guaranteed to make every anniversary golden." the male jeweler said
(Notices a blanketed item) "What's under there?" Nelson asked
"You have exquisite taste, sir. This item was acquired recently and it is truly one of a kind." the male jeweler said
(The male jeweler takes off the blanket, revealing the purple Chaos Emerald. The Emerald emits a shining light and everyone outside, including Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz, are amazed.)
"It's a perfect gift! That's it! Lindsey is simply wild about jewelry. How long will it take you to have a ring ready?" Nelson asked
"But, isn't that gem a tad large for a ring?" the male jeweler asked
"My wife definitely likes flashy jewelry. It's our wedding anniversary, and I want to get her something special. I can't wait to see Lindsey's face, when I slip it on her finger. Her birthday is coming up. I'll tell you what, give me a couple of diamonds, too." Nelson said
"Uh, sure." the male jeweler said
(Nelson leaves the store with the Chaos Emerald.)
"Thank you very much, Mr. Thorndyke. Please feel free to stop by our store any time." the Jewelers said
(As Nelson leaves, Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz look at each other, coming up with a plan.)
(Scene Change: Thorndyke residence, day.)
(The phone rings.)
"Hello. This is the Thorndyke residence." Tanaka said
(Scene Change: Nelson's car, day.)
"Hello, Tanaka. How's everything going at home?" Nelson asked
(Scene Change: Thorndyke residence, day.)
"Everyone is doing very well here, Mr. Thorndyke. Mr. Chris, I have Mr. Thorndyke on the line for you." Tanaka said
"Cool, thanks." Chris said
"Hold on, I thought Chuck was here." Zee said
"But he is." True said
(Takes the phone from Tanaka) "Thank you." (To the phone) "Hey, how's it going dad? Are you calling from the office or are you traveling?" Chris asked
"Chris' father is Mr. Thorndyke on the phone. If it was Chuck, he'd say 'Hello, grandpa.'" Amy said
"Right. It is Mr. Nelson Thorndyke." Tanaka said
"You see? I'm right." Amy said
"Yeah, now it's clear." Tails said
(To the phone) "She's not here. Mom is at Filmdom City this whole week acting in a movie. If you need to reach her, you can call her at the studio, though. Okay, I'll be there." Chris said
(Scene Change: Nelson's car, day.)
(To his security personnel) "I've changed my mind. I want to go to Filmdom City right away." Nelson said
"Yes sir!" the guard said
(Scene Change: Thorndyke residence, day.)
"That's weird. My dad wants us all to go to Filmdom City, but he won't say why." Chris said
"Filmdom City!? Where the movie stars live. Yeah!! Let's go!" Amy shouted
"It sounds like fun. Right, Cheese?" Cream asked
"Chao." Cheese said
(Scene Change: Chuck's lab, day.)
(Tails sets three Chaos Emeralds on the X Tornado.)
"We're all set." Tails said
"So Tails, how many Chaos Emeralds do you need now?" Chris asked
"From what he told me, we have four, and Grizelda and Knuckles are holding one. We need seven." Zee said
"Wow, just two more." Chris said
"Yeah, but we have to be real careful now, when we add the new Chaos Emerald to the ones we have already. The four Chaos Emeralds we have now are okay, because they've had time to adapt to each other. But if we add a new Emerald without following the right steps, it can cause an electromagnetic reaction that we can't control, and we'll be in major trouble. The last time they were all brought together, it was a disaster." Tails said
"Huh, it sounds tricky." Chris said
"Yeah, it does." True said
"Hey, aren't you forgetting we're supposed to meet your father at Filmdom City now." Amy said
"Yeah, sorry." Chris said
(The X Tornado takes off. Sonic jumps to the rear of the plane.)
"Filmdom City, eh? I've never been there." Sonic said
(In a café Mr. Stewart is having a coffee, when he sees the X Tornado.)
"Haah! The X Tornado!" (Runs to his car and starts it) "I better see what those kids are up to." Mr. Stewart said
(Scene Change: Filmdom City, day.)
(Nelson is looking at the Chaos Emerald. Knocks are heard on a door. Nelson shuts the jewel case.)
"Yes, come in." Nelson said
"Hi, dad!" Chris said
"Hello, son!" (Chris and Nelson hug) "Thanks for coming Chris. Boy, am I glad to see you." Nelson said
(Sonic carries a Chaos Emerald, which reacts to something.)
"Sonic, how are you? You know, that race you won was really amazing." Nelson said
"Thanks a lot." Sonic said
"Hey dad, I want you to meet some of my other friends who came along. This is Tails." Chris said
(Little excited) "Nice to meet you. Hello." Tails said
"Amy." Chris said
(Elegantly) "Hello." Amy said
"And here is Cream and Cheese." Chris said
"Hello, sir." Cream said
"And this is my teacher, Mr. Stewart." Chris said
"Mr. Stewart's here!? No way!" Everyone said
"Hello, sir. It's a pleasure to meet you." Mr. Stewart said
"So, how is my son doing at school?" Nelson asked
"He's a model student, Mr. Thorndyke." Mr. Stewart said
"Is there a reason we're here? Or did we travel all this way just to say hello?" Chuck asked
"You mean I didn't tell you. This is a very special day." Nelson said
(Scene Change: Film set.)
(Nelson's fantasy is shown.)
"Let's try one more take. Try to get it right this time, people. Ready? And action!" the Director said
"The prince swore he would return some day, and I know he'll keep his word. Huh!? Is it really you? My true love. (long silence) Why, Nelson!?" Lindsey asked in shock
"Here, Lindsey. With my love." (shows the Chaos Emerald. Lindsey gasps) "You haven't forgotten what today is, have you dear." Nelson said
"Happy wedding anniversary to the Thorndykes!" the Thorndyke household said
"I don't know what to say! Thank you all!" Lindsey said
"Congratulations!" the Thorndyke household said
"Chao chao!" Cheese said
"Thank you, honey!" Lindsey said
(The fantasy ends. Scene changes back to the previous room.)
"So, what do you think?" Nelson asked
"Well…" Chuck started
"That is almost as original as the time when you wished her a happy birthday by skydiving on to her set." Tanaka said
"I guarantee you're going to leave Ms. Thorndyke totally speechless." Ella said
"That's what I'm going for." Nelson said
"Surprising mom with that ring while she is filming is a great idea." Chris said
"That's really sweet." True said
"A wonderful plan, sir." Tanaka said
"Hey, you can give me jewelry anytime." Ella said
(Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz are shown inside the vent shaft.)
"Now honestly" (Opens the jewel case) "do you really think she likes it, Ella?" Nelson asked
(Nelson's Emerald and Sonic's Emerald then start to react to each other, causing an electromagnetic reaction between them.)
"Oh my! It's amazing!" Ella said
"What's going on here!?" Sonic asked in shock
(The reaction grows stronger. Everyone gasps. An energy beam is generated that leads to the sky.)
(Scene Change: Egg Fort II, day.)
(Dr. Eggman is sleeping.)
"Is this what you do when you don't have anything to do? It's just not my thing. I wish Rainbow King was here, he had to take off for some reason" General Rainbow said
"I am bored out of my circuits." Decoe said
"I would give left servo motor for a little excitement. [Alarm blares] Huh!? What is this? Dr. Eggman! We have detected a Chaos Emerald!" Bocoe shouted
(Wakes up with a shock and falls) "You'd better not be joking. Where? Show me!" Dr. Eggman said
"There. In Filmdom City." Bocoe said
"Right! Set a course for Filmdom City on the double!!" Dr. Eggman shouted
(Scene Change: Filmdon City.)
(Knuckles is running and gliding with Grizelda on his back. Their red Chaos Emerald has detected another Emerald.)
"What's the Chaos Emerald doing?" Grizelda asked
"There's another Chaos Emerald somewhere around here. That Emerald could be anywhere in this city." (Notices the energy beam) "I found it!" Knuckles said
(Scene Change: Film studio room.)
(The reaction between the two Emeralds breaks down lights and a TV. Nelson closes the jewel case. The reaction stops and everyone gasps.)
"Just what is going on here?" Nelson asked
"The filming is about to begin. You should go get changed, sir." Tanaka said
"Yeah. You're right." Nelson said
(Nelson and Tanaka leave the room, followed by Chris and Chuck.)
"Thorndyke doesn't know how valuable that gem really is." Rouge said
"But how are we gonna get it away from him without being noticed?" Bartleby asked
(knocks Bartleby on the head.) "Don't ruin my moment." Rouge said
(Chris and Chuck leave the room.)
"Now what? That ring is made from a Chaos Emerald, isn't it?" True asked
"We need that Emerald to get home, but now it looks like Chris' mother will be wearing it on her finger." Sonic said
"We should talk about it with Chris, but let's wait till after the surprise party is over." Tails said
(As the Thorndyke household moves towards the film set, Mr. Stewart jumps to another hallway.)
"Calling Homeroom. I have just detected a possible Chaos Emerald. Will retrieve." Mr. Stewart said
(Scene Change: Film set.)
(Everyone is set for Nelson's surprise. Grizelda and Knuckles arrive.)
"Hello, Sonic." Knuckles said
"Hey there, Knuckles. What's cracking?" Sonic asked
"You tell us." Grizelda said
"To be honest, I'm not really sure." Sonic said
"Let's try one more take. Try to get it right this time, people. Ready? And action!" the Director said
"The prince swore he would return some day, and I know he'll keep his word. Huh!? Is it really you?" Lindsey asked
(Nelson suddenly trips, and the case with the Chaos Emerald opens and the Emerald drops out. The electromagnetic reaction between Nelson's and Sonic's Emerald's goes off again, with Knuckles' Emerald also reacting to the new Emerald.)
"Oh no! The ring!" Nelson said
(Takes off Nelson's wig) "Nelson?" Lindsey asked
"Lindsey." Nelson said
(The reaction grows stronger. Egg Fort II arrives.)
"We are closing in on the Chaos Emerald." Bocoe said
"Look, Doctor!" Decoe shouted
"What?" Dr. Eggman asked (Notices the light beam from the Emeralds)
"Whoa, that's quite the light show." General Rainbow said
"Heh heh hee! That light beam will lead us straight to the Emerald. LET'S GO!!" Dr. Eggman yelled
(At the film set, the reaction between the three Emeralds destroys several lights and equipment.)
"Put that ring back in the box right away!!" Sonic shouted
(Tanaka takes the case and closes the Chaos Emerald inside it. The reaction stops.)
"I think perhaps we should move off the set. Sir?" Tanaka asked
"What in the world has gotten into you?! We're shooting the most important scene in the entire movie!" Lindsey said
"I was only trying to surprise you, honey." Nelson said
"This isn't going like my dad planned at all." Chris said
"Sorry, I forgot I married a movie star!" Nelson said
"Well, how would you like it if I stumbled into one of your shareholder meetings and made a complete fool of myself!?" Lindsey asked in anger
"At least I care enough to come and see you!" Nelson said
"What is that supposed to mean?! Are you insinuating that I don't care?!" Lindsey asked in anger
"Now, now, calm down." Chuck said
(to Chuck) "Butt out!!" Nelson and Lindsey shouted
"Homeroom, will you alert the Crisis Team to standby?" Mr. Stewart asked
"Sonic, we need that ring." Knuckles said
"I know, but it won't be easy to get." Sonic said
"Let's just tell them we need it to get home." Grizelda said
"We can't spoil their anniversary." True said
(A loud crash sounds. Egg Fort II has crashed to the studio wall. Eggman, Decoe, Bocoe and General Rainbow run towards the group.)
"Hand over that Chaos Emerald!!" Decoe, Bocoe and General Rainbow shouted
(Not surprised) "It's Eggman, of course!" True, Grizelda, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles said (All three run out)
(In a dinosaur-movie set, Eggman chases Sonic.)
"This way, Eggman!" Sonic shouted
(crashes into the dinosaur model) "I'll get you, Sonic!" Dr. Eggman shouted
(Decoe chases Knuckles into a space-movie set. Decoe stumbles into a space probe-set. Tails leads Bocoe into a ship-movie set. Bocoe loses his footing and Tails catches him, only to drop him into water a second later. True and Grizelda lead General Rainbow into a fantasy set. True and Grizelda run across the table knocking some of the food off, making the actors there confused until they run in panic from seeing General Rainbow entering the set and tripping on the edge of the table, breaking it.)
"With all this confusion, now is the perfect time to make my move." Rouge said (flies away)
"Rouge!" Topaz shouted
"And she's off." Bartleby said
(Nelson and Lindsey are still looking angrily at each other with when Rouge suddenly grabs the Chaos Emerald case, snapping them out of their fury when Nelson realizes Rouge stole Lindsey's gift.)
"Where's the ring?!" (notices Rouge in the air) "Hey, you give that back to me!" Nelson shouted
"Sorry, but this gem is really a Chaos Emerald, which is far too precious to use in jewelry, even for someone as glamorous as me." Rouge said
(Having failed to notice Eggman, he grabs the case from Rouge. Rouge gasps.)
"Let's make sure this Emerald is real. [opens the case] Fantastic! We hit the jackpot!" Dr. Eggman said
"Hand it back, Eggman!" Rouge said
"No way, it's mine now!" Dr. Eggman said
(jumps on the Egg Mobile to help Rouge with Bartleby following behind) "Give it up!" Topaz said
"Get away! Decoe, Bocoe, General, come and help me! Hurry!" Dr. Eggman shouted
(stops chasing Knuckles) "Yes, doctor!" Decoe said
(stops chasing Tails) "Coming!" Bocoe said
(stops chasing True and Grizelda.) "On my way!" General Rainbow said
(runs to catwalk over a pool and speaks to his communicator) "Doctor Eggman is trying to escape with the Emerald!" Mr. Stewart said
"Come on, drop it!" Bartleby said
"I'd rather drop you!" Dr. Eggman said (Presses the accelerator and speeds up the Egg Mobile, making it hard for Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz to hold on. He then hits the brake, sending all three flying towards Mr. Stewart.)
"Fellas, please, I…" Mr. Stewart didn't get to say (Bartleby, Rouge and Topaz crash on him and all four fall to the pool. Eggman laughs.)
"Eggman! Hand over that Chaos Emerald or else!" Grizelda, Sonic and Knuckles shouted
"Or else, what?!" (presses a button) "Weazo, get rid of these clowns!" Dr. Eggman said
(Eggman summons E-74 Weazo to attack the Thorndykes. Nelson, Lindsey and Chris gasp in horror as it makes its entrance and touches down with a crash.)
"Not another robot!" Grizelda, Sonic and Knuckles shouted
(Weazo shoots flames from it's nose and moves closer to the Thorndykes.)
(Steps in between Weazo and his family) "You get away! Don't you dare harm my family!" Nelson shouted
"Hold it, chump!" (Weazo turns to look at him) "Before you lay your claws on the Thorndyke family, you must get past me!" (Makes kung fu moves along with appropriate noise. Weazo starts to wave its tail.) "Well robot, do you feel lucky?" Tanaka asked
(Weazo smashes its tail on Tanaka, sending him flying into a wall)
"What's wrong with that guy?" Knuckles asked
"Too many kung fu-movies!" Sonic said
(Weazo moves closer to the Thorndykes as they stand still, frozen with horror. Suddenly someone grabs onto his tail and he stops to look. That someone is Grizelda, who grunts.)
"Leave them alone, Weazo!" Grizelda said
(Weazo sends Grizelda flying into crates.)
"You won't win that easy!" (Spin attacks Weazo, causing it to fall) "Come on!" Sonic shouted
(Sonic runs away and Weazo gives chase.)
(jumps down and heads to where Grizelda is.) "Grizelda!" (hears groaning and moves a crate out of the way to find Grizelda under it and helps her up.) "Looks like that training has been paying off. That was really brave you did there, but also stupid. You could've gotten hurt." Knuckles said
(yells at Knuckles, knocking him off his feet.) "YOU'RE THE ONE TEACHING ME!" Grizelda yelled
(Scene Change: Egg Fort II)
(Eggman is wearing the Chaos Emerald on his finger.)
(Laughs) "Soon I'll steal the rest of the Emeralds, too." Dr. Eggman said
"This one sure is impressive." Bocoe said
"It looks very powerful." Decoe said
"Indeed it is, maybe it's best if I…" (tries to grab the emerald only to pull his hand back from it from getting electrocuted by the Chaos Emerald.) "Ow!" General Rainbow shouted
"What just happened!?" Decoe asked in shock
"It seems he's not strong enough to withstand the power of the Chaos Emeralds." Dr. Eggman
(Scene Change: Film studio)
(Weazo is firing flames at Sonic. Sonic runs past a dinosaur movie-set, burning a fire breathing dinosaur piece. Sonic runs into a dead end in an ocean set.)
"It's a dead end!" (Weazo arrives and starts shooting flames at him as he tries to run away, to no avail.) "I can't get away!" Sonic said
(running) "SONIC! Hey, Sonic, where are you!?" (he finds Sonic at the ocean set. It looks like Sonic and Weazo are underwater.) "They're fighting in... water?" Knuckles asked
"But how?" Grizelda asked
(The set is actually a special water tank, which makes the room on the other side look like it's underwater.)
"Now I see." (Weazo fires its flamethrower.) "Listen, Sonic! Jump up now!" Knuckles shouted
(Sonic jumps as Knuckles breaks the water tank, causing the room to flood. The water causes Weazo's flamethrower to stop functioning. Knuckles charges at Weazo.)
"You're through!" Grizelda shouted
(Grizelda punches Weazo and Sonic spin attacks it, destroying it.)
(Scene change: Egg Fort II)
(Eggman has witnessed Weazo's destruction.)
"I think I'll cut Sonic a break and call it quits today." Dr. Eggman said
"Good idea!" Decoe and Bocoe said
"Agreed." General Rainbow said
(The Egg Fort II flies away)
"Thanks for the Chaos Emerald!" Dr. Eggman, General Rainbow, Decoe and Bocoe said (All four laugh)
(Scene Change: Film studio)
"Are you all right?" Nelson asked
(Chris and Lindsey hug Nelson)
"You protected us dear." Lindsey said
"Of course. You're my family." Nelson said
"This surprise party certainly was surprising." Chuck said
(tends to Grizelda's hands from the fight) "I'm all upset that Eggman stole Mrs. Thorndyke's new ring. That gemstone was so pretty." Ella said
"It was a Chaos Emerald." Grizelda said
"It was?" Ella asked
(Feels dishonored and is about to rip off his uniform) "I have failed in my duties! I don't deserve this uniform!" Tanaka said
"Hold on! The important thing is we're all here to celebrate mom and dad's anniversary." Chris said
"And besides, Tanaka, it isn't your fault that my ring was stolen." Lindsey said
"Thank you." Tanaka said
"Hey! Let's all wish my mom and dad a very happy anniversary!" Chris said
"And many more!" the Thorndyke household said
"Chao! Chao!" Cheese said
(Confetti blasts the room.)
"Thank you, everybody!" Nelson and Lindsey said
"Congratulations!" the Thorndyke household said
"It all worked out okay." Sonic said
"Oh yeah, except for Eggman getting away with a Chaos Emerald, it went just perfect." Knuckles said
"I'm sure there's a way for us to get it back if we try." True said
(Watches True, Sonic and Knuckles) "Sonic has four Chaos Emeralds and Knuckles has one. Even Doctor Eggman has one Emerald and now we're the only ones who don't have any. When the last Chaos Emerald is found and all seven are brought together, it will be a real blast. I'll get those Emeralds no matter what!" Rouge said
