A/N: So I was going through some old Duncey fics and I miss the small one-shot collections people would write so I decided to do a few.
Summary: All Courtney wanted to do was have a nice, peaceful school day. But a certain teacher wouldn't allow that.
Can't learn a thing
By ciaratorres
History used to be one of Courtney's favorite classes. She loved learning about the history of her town, it was a peaceful class due to every other student being so bored by the subject they'd fall asleep.
But that was all before he arrived at her high school. Mr. Evans was his name, well his first name was Duncan.
Courtney found him annoying, he lacked the urge to teach and encourage students. Evans would just sit back and watch his students fail like the asshole he was. Even when he wasn't trying everyone loved him, Courtney's classmates liked the fact that Duncan didn't care about homework or grades. It all disturbed her, especially when the girls would fawn of his looks.
Plain out gross. Sure maybe he had the most unique teal blue eyes Courtney had ever seen and the most enticing smirk to ever make way to someone's lips. Still didn't change the fact that Duncan was a jerk.
" would you like to read the passage?" Courtney's attention shifted to the man in front of the whiteboard. Once again a smirk forming on his lips, god she just wanted to smack it off.
"Sure..um what page are we on?" The sentence felt odd coming out of her mouth, she was Courtney she always paid attention in class. Those A's that sat proudly on her report card were proof.
Duncan made a fake disappointed face then said, "Wow I expected more from you, Courtney." He shook his head softly. Courtney glared slightly, keeping her eyes on his.
"I thought you were supposed to be a valedictorian here," Her glare intensified, she was starting to get really pissed. "I guess the school system really is messed up," Duncan said with a shrug of his shoulders. Chuckles and giggles echoed throughout the classroom, great now he got the whole class to laugh at her. Courtney sunk in her seat, her lips curled with anger and she clenched her fist so tight her nails were digging deep in her palm.
"Well, you somehow became a teacher here so yeah the system is definitely corrupted." Now it was Courtney's turn to smirk. Never had she said something so disrespectful to an educator but hey Duncan started it and she finished it. The class went silent, a few of her peers shared shocked glances. The quietness was shattered when Duncan started laughing.
He wiped a tear from his eye, "Well done I'm impressed."
Courtney ducked her head down to hide the pink tint forming on her cheeks, she kept her head down but moved her eyes to see Duncan go back to teaching the lesson.
What the hell was that?
The bell rang loudly signaling the students to leave their current period and then move to the next. Courtney hopped out of her seat and walked to the door. She passed Duncan's desk then she heard him say "Wait, Courtney."
So close.
Courtney let out a quiet groan and walked to his desk. "Yes, ?"
"Listen I wanted you to know that I was just messing around with you earlier," He leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms causing them to flex through his button-up shirt, Courtney quickly averted her eyes from his arms. "I know your smart, so no hard feelings?" He asked while extending his arm for her to shake.
"Yeah, no hard feelings." Courtney grasped his hand, Duncan smiled and she found it so infectious she just had to do the same. Courtney realized the handshake lingered a little longer than it should, she took her hand out of his and left the class. Duncan watched her as she left, his own cheeks gained a pink tint.
A/N: Well that was anti-climatic, you can tell this is my first time writing huh? Anyways that's all for today feel free to let me know how bad this start was lol.
