A/N: Well I'm back again with another lame chapter.

Summary: She shouldn't be there but she is and it's all because of him.

You're fault

By ciaratorres

Detention wasn't a place for someone like Courtney. It was a place for students who behaved terribly and could care less about school, not a place for an overachiever like her. Yet there she was with anger and annoyance running through her veins. All because she trusted an idiot with dangerous chemicals.

Courtney knew better than to trust Duncan with beakers containing things that could explode if not handled properly, but she looked away for one second then boom clouds of toxic smoke aired through the classroom. Thanks to him their teacher punished both of them since they were partners. It was stupid, just because they were supposed to be working together she had to be at fault also.

Now all she could do was wait, with him.

A sigh escaped her lips as she glanced down at the unfinished crossword puzzle taking up her desk, her small fingers gripped the pencil while her eyes searched for the word acknowledge printed on the page. She scanned the paper each word and letter imprinted on the paper didn't go unnoticed, yet she still couldn't find it. Not that she even wanted to anyways, if she finished the crossword then she would have nothing else left to do.

As Courtney continued to look for her word she suddenly felt Duncan's pencil tap the back of her neck. Rolling her eyes she turned around to face him, "What do you want? Can't you see I'm trying to work here?"

"Chill princess-"

"Chill? You want me to chill?" Cortney narrowed her eyes, "Well I cant chill because thanks to you I'm in detention." She snapped, Duncan rested his chin on the palm of his hand, slightly leaning forward making their faces closer.

"Hey it's not my fault chemistry is boring."

"Still it doesn't mean you should practically blow up the lab!" Courtney couldn't believe Duncan had the audacity to sit there and say it was reasonable to do what he did just because he was uninterested in the topic they were learning.

"The lab didn't blow up, it was just smoke."

"The smoke was toxic, you could have poisoned the whole class!"

Duncan rolled his eyes then said, "Oh please we made it out just fine."

"Ugh, just because we made it out doesn't rule out the possibility that we couldn't have."

"Sure, sure whatever you say."

Courtney was about to turn around back to her crossword when she felt Duncan lean over her and snatch the paper. "Hey, that's mine!"

Smugly Duncan picked up his own pencil, and with ease, he circled the word she had been looking for.

acknowledge

"There ya go, all done."

Her eye twitched, the bell rang echoing through the school signaling that detention was over.

"See ya later gorgeous." He waved at her tauntingly, then proceeded to leave.

She stayed in her seat.

That boy is going to be the death of me.

A/N: I know my one-shots are kinda short but keep in mind these are just small scenarios that I thought of and decided to put out there. Think of this more as just me trying to practice my writing..cause that's pretty much what this all is.

Notes: To be more clear that one last line in italic is Courtney's thought.

Duncan probably would have gotten suspended for what he did but I showed some mercy and put him in detention.

Courtney got blamed for Duncan's mistake too just because they were chem partners.
