I sat on a bench in my cell at the military compound of Shiganshina. I had been separated from the rest of Levi Squad. As to why, still wasn't explained to me. Gabi was taken away elsewhere.
"So, it is true." I picked my head up and gave a dead stare to the man in front of my cell.
Samuel stood in front of the bars of my cell, "I didn't want to believe it when Floch told me. He said you freed the two Marleyan Warrior Candidates and stayed among them for an entire month. You hid their identities and everything. You're just like him. You're a traitor." I said nothing as Samuel walked closer to the bars. So that's why they separated me from the others. I've already been deemed a traitor while they haven't.
He gripped the cell bars as he stared at me with desperation, "Why? Why would you go this far? You're going to be court marshaled and sentenced to death for your treason. You'd really die instead of siding with your own kind?" Samuel questioned me.
"I'm already siding with my kind. The Marleyan Warriors are still Eldians. Only Eldians have the power to turn into Titans. The Marleyans don't." I responded.
Samuel gritted his teeth, "Don't be a smartass, Vivien. It's not helping your case! Just answer my question. Why do this?" He asked me again.
"Because I made my choice. Eren told me what he plans to do and I can't sit idly by and watch as the world gets flattened. If that means I betray the people of Paradis and side with the Marleyans in order to stop Eren. Then that's what I'll do. No one can change my mind. So, stop trying to and stop trying to say that this has anything to do with Reiner. This is my decision. No one coerced me to do what I did. I have my own free will." I stood up from my spot and walked closer to the bars.
A sudden clapping of hands made Samuel and I turn our heads. My eyes widen recognizing the two people standing in the entrance to the cells. Pieck Finger and Porco Galliard stood just past the entrance of the lower cells. They were both in military uniforms. Pieck dressed in a Scouts uniform while Porco was in a Garrisons one.
Pieck was smiling with her eyes closed and clapping slowly. Porco stood next to her with an unreadable expression. His hazel eyes however, would not leave me. It looked like he was trying to read me.
"Well said Evelynn or wait that's not your real name. Vivien right?" Pieck asked. She ceased her clapping and looked at me with interest.
Samuel looked between us confused, "What's going on? Who are you two? I've never seen either of you before." Samuel questioned.
"Just some old friends that Vivien made about a month ago. She left quiet the first impression on us. Now this, being branded as a traitor for helping two Warrior Candidates escape and keeping them hidden for a month. That's quite the scandal." Samuel was now fully turned to Pieck and Porco. I narrowed my eyes seeing how close he was to the bars. He's not paying attention. I slowly began making my way closer to the bars.
"Wait did you just say a month ago? The Raid on Liberio was a month ago. I've never seen either of you before. What are your names and what squads are you in?" Samuel demanded.
"You've probably heard of us. After all, I'm sure Zeke told your people all about us. My name is Pieck and this is Porco." Samuel took a step closer to the bars as Porco took a step forward. His hazel eyes never left mine. He saw me getting closer to the bars and probably knew what I was going to do.
"The Cart and Jaw Titans…you're here? That means-" Samuel couldn't finish his sentence.
I slipped my arm through the bars and wrapped my arm around his throat. I slammed him up against the metal bars and kept adding pressure to his throat. His eyes met mine as I stared at him harshly. He choked and tried to take in a breath but couldn't. His hands clawed at my arm.
"For what it's worth, Samuel. I'm sorry it came to this." I apologized. His clawing on my arm slowed down until both of them fell limp to his side. I held Samuel up as his body slid down until he was on the ground.
I stood back up and looked at both Pieck and Porco, "Thanks I guess, but why?" I questioned them.
Porco crossed his arms and gave me a frown, "Don't look at me." Porco stated harshly.
Pieck walked up the door of my cell. She dug around in her pocket and pulled out a key. She held it up for me to see it.
"It's something that you did a month ago. I couldn't wrap my head around it for the longest time. You cut me out the nape of my Titan and cut off my limbs so I couldn't turn into the Cart Titan again. What really got me thinking is when you kicked me away. At first I thought it was out of cruelty. Then when you called for the guns to be taken down. I was outside of the blast radius of those explosives. That was no accident. You calculated that. You could have easily killed me through the nape of my Titan but you didn't. You did everything you could to ensure that I would live and hoped that I did." I stared at Pieck intensely. She picked up on that huh? Not even Jean caught onto that and he was right there. I'm not proud of what we did to Liberio. I'm disgusted with myself for the senseless killings that happened that day.
"Poc says you did the same with him. You had tried to goad him on before confronting Eren. You manage to nick his nape but you must've not realized just how fast the Jaw Titan really was. You were trying to do the same thing with him. For whatever reason, you were trying to keep us out of the fight but with our lives. It gave us an idea that maybe, just maybe you didn't want to fight in this war that Eren Jaeger dragged you into. You want to know something else, Vivien? When I took my suspicions to my comrades. One person spoke up in defense of you. One person advocated that if you wanted to kill us that day you would have. But because you didn't, it meant you were hesitating. You don't agree with what Eren Jaeger is trying to do. You haven't agreed with him since Liberio. Because of that one person, the Commander decided when we were to infiltrate the walls. We were to seek you out and convince you to switch sides. An Ackerman on Marley's side in the upcoming fight against Eren Jaeger would be instrumental." I stared at Pieck in awe.
"I guess there's not much convincing that needs to be done anyway. Considering what we just heard you say earlier." Porco spoke up. I watched as he walked closer to the bars.
"So, you really want to stop Jaeger? Pieck and the Commander were convinced that you would swap sides. But I'm more skeptical than them. Can we actually trust you to fight with us instead of against us? Is Reiner right about you?" My eyes widened hearing Reiner's name being used. He's the one who Pieck was talking about. Reiner is the one who defended me to his comrades.
My eyes narrowed, "You can trust me. I don't want the Rumbling to happen anymore than any of you do." Pieck and Porco looked at me. They glanced at each other before both of them nodded to one another.
"Alright. I'll let you out. Be quick to get your ODM Gear ready. Wait outside until you see the signal." I raised a blonde brow as Pieck unlocked the door.
"What signal?" I asked her. I stepped out of the cell and stopped in front of Pieck and Porco.
Pieck gave a closed eye smile, "Oh it'll be very hard to miss." I gave Pieck a deadpan look. Why does she seem so cheery when she's talking about stuff like this?
"Before I split off. Gabi and Falco are around here somewhere. I'm not exactly sure where. They separated us a while ago." I informed them.
"Right. We'll focus on finding them. You focus on getting ready for the battle that's about to happen. By the way, do you have something that can possibly signal to Reiner to let him know you're on our side? He could relay that information to the Commander." Pieck instructed.
I gave a smirk, "Yeah. I have an idea what I can use. Good luck." They nodded their heads and we split off into two different directions. Never would I have thought I'd be saved by people I called my enemies just a month prior. I guess I have Reiner to thank for that. If he hadn't taken the chance and advocated for me. There's a possibility I'd still be sitting in that cell.
I stood on top of a roof in Shiganshina. I had the modified ODM Gear strapped to me. I felt more comfortable using this than the Anti-Personnel ODM Gear that everyone else uses. I can technically use it but I have more freedom of movement and both my hands without it. The wind gently blew as it caught my Scouts cloak. I managed to snag one before making my way out of the compound. I had the hood up to keep my face from being seen.
From where I was, I could see all three Regiments start to set up. My eyes narrowed seeing what looked to be Eren, Pieck and Gabi at the roof of the military compound.
"What's your plan now, Pieck?" I whispered quietly.
I soon got my answer when I saw Porco's Jaw Titan emerge from underneath Eren. I guess that's the signal Pieck was talking about. Seconds later a bright yellow light from the lightning and Eren's familiar Titan roar sounded.
My attention turned to above me hearing the sounds of airships. There were five airships coming from above. Reiner must be on one of those. I pulled out the smoke gun and loaded up a silver canister with yellow lines. I cocked the gun and held it above my head while simultaneously taking down my hood. I covered one ear with my shoulder and the other one with my hand. The popping sound followed as I squeezed the trigger. A yellow line of smoke flew up into the air.
Reiner's P.O.V
"Hey Reiner." The said man turned his head to General Magath. He handed the binoculars to him.
"There's some kind of signal I'm not familiar with next to Pieck. Something tells me it's in reference to our possible Ackerman friend down there." Reiner took the binoculars from him. He held them to his eyes and looked down below.
He could see a yellow smoke signal flying in the air. The signal for emergencies for the Scouts. It's Viv. He was right afterall. She never agreed to Eren's plan. She's on their side…his side after all these years.
"It's her, General." Reiner stated and turned to Magath, "Vivien Ackerman has sided with us against Eren Jaeger." He announced it to him.
Magath nodded his head, "That's good to hear. Let's hope that she can keep the other Ackerman at bay while our Warriors handle Jaeger. Spread the word, men. The blonde Ackerman is one of us. Do not shoot her." Magath ordered.
"Yes, sir!"
Reiner turned back to look at the city of Shiganshina below. He left here without Viv last time. He didn't know who he was then, but he does now. One thing is for sure, he didn't plan on leaving Shiganshina again without Viv.
Vivien's P.O.V
I watched as several men parachuted down from the airships above. I clipped both handles to blades and unsheathed them. With Eren in his Titan form, I need to stay out of the way. Reiner, Porco and Pieck are the ones that will need to handle him like that. This is going to be hard, but I need to keep soldiers off of the Titans. That includes the Levi Squad and to be more specific. I'm the only one that can keep up with Mikasa. She's the biggest threat to the Warriors.
I heard thuds getting closer to me. Shingles crashed next to me as I looked up to see Porco's Jaw Titan standing next to me now. My eyes caught sight of yellow lightning and Pieck in her Cart Titan form running away from Eren.
"Hey Porco," The said Titan turned his head to me, "I'll try to keep off as many soldiers as I can from you all. Keep your focus on Eren." I instructed him. Steam erupted from the back of Porco's Titan. Porco's human body was still attached to the Titan but just separated to talk. Porco gave me an irritated look.
"I don't need you telling me who to focus on. I know what I'm doing. The biggest obstacle the General is worried about is the other two Ackermans. If one of them shows up, that's who you need to focus on yourself." He chastised me.
I gave a smirk, "I'm well aware. I don't need you telling me who to focus on." I threw his words right back at him. Porco only growled at me before slipping back into his Titan. It's way too easy to push his buttons. It's kind of fun too.
Porco took off and at first I wondered why. Until I saw Eren walking through the middle of Shiganshina. He's on the move now. Lightning shot in the sky and my eyes caught the Armored Titan falling in the air and landing by Eren. A large dust cloud formed around Reiner and Eren's Titan forms.
"Reiner. Don't you dare die on me today." I muttered under my breath. I shot off my hooks and flew across the rooftops. With Eren engaging, other soldiers should be following suit now. I need to be closer to where Eren and Reiner are fighting. Soldiers will be defending Eren and aiming Thunder Spears at Reiner. His armor can't take those explosions so I need to handle them before they get the chance to do so. I'll only be able to do that until Mikasa shows herself.
I don't want to fight my sister like this but I have no other option. The Rumbling cannot happen. I won't let it! At least Captain Levi isn't here. I don't think I'd be able to take on both of them at the same time.
Eren let out a roar as he charged at Reiner. The smoke settled as I could see Reiner get shoved into buildings of Shiganshina. I hooked to the side of a bell tower and watched down below.
Reiner got back up and began delivering his own blows against Eren's hardened skin. Reiner missed one punch and Eren took the opening. He punched Reiner hard twice and knocked off half of his face armor. Reiner let out a roar as he ducked under Eren's next punch and tackled him to the ground.
I glared at Eren as he kicked Reiner off of him and stood back up. Another Titan roar sounded as Porco charged in from behind. Something glowed from Eren's back and hardened spikes shot out. Porco's Titan was faster and dodged the spikes heading for him. Porco swiped his claws against the hardening and broke them. He then kicked Eren right into Reiner's grip.
Reiner gripped the top of Eren's head and one shoulder. He was keeping him still to allow Porco to go for the nape. Hardened spikes suddenly popped up from the floor and impaled both Porco and Reiner.
"Shit. He's really gotten good at using the Warhammer's abilities." I muttered to myself.
I heard sounds of ODM Gear whizzing throughout the city. It's time to go.
"Finish them off with the Thunder Spears!" I heard one yell.
I narrowed my eyes on a group of three of them. They were getting ready to aim their Thunder Spears at Reiner.
"I don't think so." I dropped from the bell tower and shot my hooks past them.
In a single motion, I turned my right handle backwards and sped through the group of Jaegerists. I spun with my blades and easily sliced through all three of them.
"What the?!" I heard another group yell. I heard a large caliber gun fire and debris shot up everywhere.
I used the cover of the dust and fired my hooks towards another group. I sliced through another three to four Jaegerists before sticking my hooks into the hardened spike that impaled Reiner. I landed on the side of it and looked out at the other Jaegerists.
"It's the traitor! She's protecting the Armored and the Jaw!" One yelled out.
I looked down below to see Eren knocked onto the ground. So that's where that artillery shell hit. More than likely it's an Anti-Titan round. I looked up to see Pieck set up on the wall with a large weapon strapped to her back. That was a nice shot whoever took that. Hit Eren right in the head.
I looked next to me at Reiner still impaled by the hardened spike. His face was completely disfigured. His jaw hung open with missing teeth and half of his face plate armor completely reduced to rubble. His eyes were staring directly at me however.
"Never thought we'd be fighting on the same side again. I'm glad I was wrong on that. I'll take out as much of the Jaegerists as I can. I won't be able to once Mikasa shows up. I'm the only one that can fend her off while you and Porco fight Eren." Reiner nodded his head letting me know he understood what I was saying. Out of the corner of my eye I could see more Jaegerists showing up.
"And Reiner, do me a favor and stay alive. I'd like to actually talk to the real you and not the Armored after this." I ordered him.
"I see the traitor! She's by the Armored! Shoot her down, there's only one of her and dozens of us!" I raised a brow at what one of them yelled out.
"You'd think they'd know better by now." I muttered. I gave one last look to Reiner before dropping my hooks.
I fell through the air and refired my hooks as bullets whizzed past me. I used the ODM Gear to its fullest to dodge and weave through the buildings. I slashed through any Jaegerists as I flew past them. I looked up as Reiner and Porco were trying to break free from the hardened spikes.
"We got you now!" I looked down to see Jaegerists pointing their pistols at me.
Gun fire sounded as the Jaegerists on the roof were blasted by bullets. I looked to see Marleyan soldiers on an adjacent roof. They were firing only at the Jaegerists and not at me. Looks like that signal earlier worked.
"Ackerman! There's more coming up from the east!" I heard one of the Marleyans yell at me.
"On it!" I dropped my hooks and quickly turned my body mid air. I refired my hooks and shot off to the east.
I sliced through Jaegerists that were in mid air with the Anti-Personnel ODM Gear. I heard more gun fire from above me. I glanced up to see the airships equipped with machine guns firing down below. Jaegerists were getting gunned down one by one of the roofs.
I proceeded to cut through Jaegerists as the bullets from Marleyans would stop seeing me getting close. Once I left they began to refire at other Jaegerists. I'm glad I have my cloak on, it makes me more distinguishable from the Jaegerists. They're only wearing the black uniform and the metal plates for the Anti-Personnel ODM Gear.
I could see Porco had gotten free and was using the hardened spikes to jump to. Eren tried to send more spikes but Porco was able to dodge them this time. Another Anti-Titan round was fired from Pieck's back and it hit Eren in the head once again. Eren slumped back from the heavy shot.
I angled my body and ODM Gear to dodge bullets that were aimed at me from the Jaegists. I quickly broke off my blades down to nubs on the shingles below me. I released the trigger of the blades and threw them at the same time. Both short and dull blades sunk into their intended targets. One right in his skull and the other through his throat. I clipped on new blades and continued my way across the buildings.
I could see Reiner now beginning to approach Eren. He had broken free but still had that piece stuck in him. He pulled out the piece of hardening from his chest and charged into Eren with it. It looked close to the nape where he hit. The roar of pain from Eren was genuine. Reiner had hit him.
The roars of Reiner and Eren filled the air over the gun fire. I landed onto an adjacent roof away from the gunfire. I looked back over at the military compound.
"I haven't seen the others yet. I'm sure by now Yelena and her men have told the Levi Squad that I swapped sides. They have the perfect view of the battlefield. I would hope they'd come to their senses and question what Eren is doing. I don't want to fight them but if it comes down to it. I don't have a choice." I voiced my thoughts out loud.
My attention turned back to the Titans fight. I heard Porco's roar in the distance. I glanced back to see Reiner was now being impaled again by hardening spikes. Porco jumped at Eren but he was swatted away by Eren's hardened fist. I gritted my teeth seeing Porco get sent across rooftops like a stone skipping over water. He finally landed and Porco was still where he landed. My eyes glanced back at Eren. He's not giving up, even though he's technically outmatched and outgunned. It was something I use to admire about Eren, but now it's more irritating. He gave me my choice of stopping him or not. I made the choice to stop him and he's not making it easy.
Reiner tackled Eren to the ground. He let out a roar as he kept Eren pinned underneath him. I noticed that Reiner's jaw had now healed enough for him to move it. The teeth of the Armored had even grown back. Was Reiner going to try and go for the nape now? Eren let out a roar and his hardened hand reached up and snagged the upper portion of Reiner's jaw.
I flinched and closed one eye as I covered my ears. Eren's roar became piercing to my eardrums. He was getting loud. I could see Reiner's top portion of his Titans head now disfigured. Eren actually dislocated the top of the Armored's head. Eren's roar stopped when something hit Reiner. My eyes glanced up and they widened seeing who it was.
"No…what is he doing here?" The Beast Titan stood atop of Wall Maria. Horror and dread began to build up in my chest, "Levi…you were watching him. You wouldn't have let him get away. What in the hell happened out in that forest? Where are you, Levi?" I spoke to myself outloud. Anger began to take over as I glared at the Beast Titan. My grip tightened on my handles.
"Zeke…what did you do to him? The only way Levi would have given up the chase on you is if he were dead. I swear… if you killed him…" I couldn't finish my sentence. I was too angry. A growl escaped from my lips. I was beginning to see red as my vision hyper focused on the Beast Titan. I hadn't been this angry since that day two years ago. Only Levi was able to stop me when I got like this.
Flashback
I stood next to Levi and Hange as we watched the rest of the Levi Squad ahead. They were going crazy seeing all the things that Marley had to offer. The smallest thing would send them off. Of course all the food had Sasha's immediate attention. We were also all dressed in clothes that people in Marley wore. All the men were wearing suits and formal hats. While us women were wearing suit tops and long skirts instead of pants with them. We had our own formal hats on as well.
"They're embarrassing themselves. They're acting like fools." Levi stated harshly.
"Oh lighten up, Levi. It's been a long time since they've been able to act so carefree. We can let them for one day." Hange argued.
"We're free to explore around right, Hange?" I questioned our Commander.
Hange gave me a smile, "Of course. Just remember to meet back up at our appointed time and place." She reminded me.
"Try to behave yourself better than those idiots." Levi warned me.
I gave a slight chuckle, "Yes, sir." I responded and walked off from them both.
Hours passed as I walked through different areas of the capitol. Onyankopon was not joking when he said Marley has so many things that would be foreign to us. According to him, Paradis is a century behind all other countries. My mind couldn't help but think back to Reiner. Yelena had mentioned that all of the Marleyan Warriors were born here in Liberio. This is the hometown that Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie had talked about. I can see now why they were so desperate to go back home. Compared to the walls, I understand why Reiner said it was like living in hell.
"Did you devils really think you would get away with this?!" I stopped hearing a man's voice. I looked to my right down an alleyway. I furrowed my brows seeing two grown men and two young children.
The two men were dressed like the other Marleyans around here. The children, a young girl and boy, were in rags in comparison to the grown men. What caught my eye was the armbands around the two children. So those are the armbands that we were told about. Eldians have to wear those bands to identify themselves in Marley. I hadn't seen anyone with them until now. Even when the idea was explained to me. I didn't like it.
"Please sir. My little sister didn't mean to! We were ju-"
"Shut up!" My eyes widened as the grown man struck the boy across his face. The boy fell to the ground and looked up with blood coming down his nose.
"Big brother!" The little girl cried. She ran to her brother's side.
"I question how they let little devils like you through the gate? If you ask me, Marley just needs to torch the entire Interment Zone. Burn everything down and send all of you to Paradise." The other man stated.
I gripped my hands into fists and the whites of my knuckles showed. I began seeing red as I walked down the alleyway. So…these are Marleyans. They feel so justified to attack children and wish them dead.
The two men and children noticed me as I began to get closer. I kept my head bowed so the two grown men couldn't see my eyes.
"Hey this doesn't concern you, woman. We're just doing our duty as Marleyans and keeping the streets clean of Eldian vermin like these two rats. Go back to your husband." I stopped just in front of the two men. My eyes glanced at the children from under my bangs.
"And what exactly did these two kids do to you to deserve this?" I questioned them quietly.
"Huh? Being an Eldian devil is more than enough reason. If you must know, this devil," The man that struck the boy pointed to the girl, "She wasn't watching where she was going and ran into me. She got her dirt all over my brand new suit." My eyes widened under my bangs. They're doing all this just because this little girl accidentally bumped into them?
"I don't need to be explaining myself to someone like you. What are you, an Eldian sympathizer? You actually feel sor-agh!" The man yelled out in pain as my fist connected to his jaw.
I heard and felt a pop under my fist as his jaw dislocated from its joint. The man I punched fell to the floor and was crying in pain while holding his jaw. The other Marleyan man stared at me in complete astonishment. The children looked terrified at what they just witnessed.
"You two, get out of here. You don't need to watch this." I ordered the kids. I lifted my head up to reveal the rage and fury that my steele gray eyes held.
"Y-yes ma'am!" The little boy spoke. He grabbed his sisters hand and ran out from the alleyway.
"The hell are you doing? You bitch, you're really taking the devil's side?" The other Marleyan man questioned.
"The only devils I see are the two of you. Grown men attacking small children? Are you so insecure of your own masculinity that you need to take it out on those weaker than you? What's the matter? Where did the superiority talk go? I'm just a woman right? I could never do anything to such big, strong men like you right?" I chastised them both. I tilted my head at them in a questioning manner.
I took a step forward and the man took a step back in fear, "Well? Why don't you try to strike me like your buddy did to that kid?" The man didn't move.
"Hit me!" I yelled at the man. That seemed to snap the man out of his daze.
"You bitch!" He yelled at me. He threw several punches that I easily sidestepped and dodged.
I sent my own punch into the fat gut of the man. He let out a gasp from the sudden hard hit. I stepped back and grabbed the man by his ears. I brought up my knee as I forced his head down. My knee made contact with his face. I heard an audible crack from his nose breaking.
The man let out a cry and stood back up. He looked at me with watering eyes and cradling his bleeding nose. His friend lay frozen on the ground. His hand is still caressing the side of his dislocated jaw.
"You broke my nose! Who the hell do you think you are? You have any idea of who I a-ack!" He didn't have a chance to finish his sentence. I stepped forward and swept one leg under one of his. He fell to the ground as I straddled on top of his chest.
My furious gray orbs glared down at the man. Anger had completely taken over my actions. I wanted these men to pay. I threw the first punch at his face, then another and another. Both my right and left knuckles had the man's blood on them.
"Enough!" I stopped as I felt a strong hand grip my upper right arm. My head snapped back to see Levi was the one holding me back.
His piercing steel blue eyes stared into my furious steele gray ones. He held a stern look on his face and he had a death grip on my upper arm. He eventually broke eye contact with me and glanced at the man.
"You've made your point. You've beaten the man within an inch of his life." Levi pointed out. My eyes glanced down at the man. His face was completely bloodied. His nose was at an awkward angle and several teeth were missing. One eye was already showing to be swollen shut from the blows.
I slowly relaxed my body as the wave of anger began to dissipate. Levi felt my body relax and slowly released the grip he had on my arm. A handkerchief was held out in front of me between two fingers.
"Clean your hands. You've got blood all over them." Levi stated nonchalantly.
I said nothing but took the handkerchief. Levi calmly walked over to the man on the ground. The man's eyes held fear in them and could only make sounds. Levi stopped in front of him and knelt down.
"I'd ask if you're the one that hit that kid, but I don't think you can respond. Your jaw is clearly dislocated so talking is out the window. I guess making some noise will have to do. So, were you the one that hit that kid?" The man began making angry noises and grunts. Levi's eyes stayed emotionless as I watched in silence.
"I see." Levi stood up and without warning, sent a swift kick into the man's mouth. The man let out a muffled scream as blood and teeth fell to the ground.
"I think you're getting off considerably lucky compared to your friend there. He gets beaten to a pulp while you just have a dislocated jaw. I say we make it more even, what do you say? The only crime those kids committed was bumping into you dirtbags. If you want you and your buddy here to live to see another day, then you better do as I say. You saw nothing here today. The man made a gurgling noise but shook his head.
Satisfied, Levi removed his foot from the man's mouth. The man stood up and covered his bloody mouth with his hands. He took two steps back before fleeing from us.
"Tch, pathetic. Even leaves his friend here out cold." Levi chastised.
"How'd you know I was here?" I asked the Captain. Levi side eyed me before sighing.
"I overheard those two kids talking to their parents. The boy had a bloody nose and swollen cheek. He explained what happened and mentioned a woman stepped in to protect them. Mikasa left with Eren and Armin so I knew it had to be you. Look, I get why you did what you did but you let your anger get the better of you again. You need to keep it in check, remember what I told you. We're not in Paradis, so you need to behave for the time that we're here. I'm sticking with you for the rest of this trip." I gave a defeated look before letting the now blood stained handkerchief fall onto the mans' body. Levi walked back over to me and stopped just to the side of me.
"You did good, Viv." My eyes widened hearing Levi call me by my nickname. He's never done that. I closed one eye as Levi placed his hand on my head and gently ruffled my hair. I looked up at the Captain in surprise and awe. His rare smile graced his face as he looked down at me.
End of Flashback
An explosion overhead snapped me out of my red filled daze. I looked up and saw the airships getting knocked out by the Beast Titan. I gritted my teeth before closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. I'm letting my anger get the better of me again. I need to be in control. Just like Levi had taught me years ago.
My steele gray eyes reopened as I stared ahead at the battlefield. I have a role to play right now and I need to be focused. The end of the world is at stake here. I can't let Rumbling happen just because of my anger getting in the way.
