Chapter 1: Tommy the Hobby Store Owner

San Diego, California, 5:00 PM

It was a January evening, and a 22-year-old Tommy Halverson had closed his hobby store for the night. It was a hobby store he'd started 2 years ago named Halverson Hobbies, which sold all kinds of hobbies from model trains to model planes to astrology just your average everyday hobbies. This was a far cry from the days where he was belittled by everyone. He proved everyone wrong.

As he got home, he got out of his car and heard his phone. Tommy opened his phone and noticed a message. It was from Eugene Green.

"Let's see what message Eugene has sent me." Tommy said to himself.

The phone read: "The cow is deceased"

"Cow?" quizzed Tommy. Then, it hit him; His old archnemesis, Emerald Green, had passed away. Tommy wasn't sad because of all the abuse she'd given him. He knew she wasn't taking care of herself and gained even more weight even after their high school days.

"Now how did Emerald die?" Tommy wondered. "Heart attack? Diabetes complications? Cancer? Hypertension? Liver failure?"

So Tommy decided to call his parents. He called his father.

Back at Sparkyville, Boco, Tommy's father, heard his phone ring. He answered it with no hesitation.

"Hello, Son." said Boco.

"Hey, Dad." said Tommy. "Eugene sent me a message. He told me that Emerald had died. What do you know about this? Cancer? Heart attack?"

"Well, Anya, Emerald's mother, just called us. She said Emerald had drowned herself."

"Drowned herself?!" exclaimed Tommy. "You mean…. She committed suicide?!"

"I think I know why." said Boco. "Her parents have been taking care of her for so long, and she never did anything with her life except eat herself to death. As far as they were concerned, everyone had enough of her and she was about to be evicted from her last apartment and she was facing some financial problems from credit card bills. She was desponded over her situation And just then, Emerald got diagnosed with diabetes, which must be why she killed herself."

"Dad. Emerald never grew up. She still felt like framing other people for her own crimes was right. Her attitude was awful too. She was pretty selfish. Don't even start me on the abuse she'd heaped on me."

"Yes." said Boco.

"That's a huge understatement, Dad." said Tommy. "As bad as I'd had it from her, Eugene and Jasmine had it worse because they had to live with her. Eugene severed ties with his parents because they paid more attention to Emerald than they did him and Jasmine, and because they couldn't attend his engagement party. Who knows if they'll even attend the funeral? Do Katie and Heather CH know anything about this?"

"Not yet." said Boco.

"Surely Heather CH's fiancé will be happy."

"Why though, son?"

"It's Spearmint Sammy, the man Emerald had a crush on, who hated her with every fibre in his body. probably more than me, Eugene and Jasmine combined."

"Good point." said Boco. "I'll let you know about the plans for the funeral when they're available. Either me or your mum."

"Thanks, Dad." said Tommy. "Speak to you later."
