Chapter 4: Crabby Fussbudget No More

Sparkyville, USA, 6:20

Lucy van Pelt, now 21-almost-22, was relaxing in her dorm at Sparkyville University. After her past experiences in giving faux psychiatry, she decided she wanted to become a psychiatrist for real, and college was the only way she could become a real psychiatrist. Just before she could get ready to do her homework, she got a call on her cell phone.

"Hello?" asked Lucy.

"Lucy!" said Rerun. "It's Rerun."
"How's your date with Katie?" asked Lucy.

"It's only been 5 minutes now." said Rerun. "How's college?"
"Going good so far." said Lucy.

"Anyway, Katie just told me. Do you remember Emerald Green?"

"That blockhead?" Lucy said, gritting her teeth.

"Yeah." said Rerun. "Just before our date could start, Katie told me Emerald had killed herself."
"Goodness!" cried Lucy. "Any word on when the funeral is?"
"Not yet." said Rerun. "The Green family should let us know."

"Don't know if I'll go." said Lucy. "Considering she'd even outdo me in crabbiness. Does Linus know?"

"Not yet." said Rerun. "I'll tell him later."
"Okay." said Lucy. "I have an assignment to do now."

"I'll think about it too." said Rerun. "Anyway, gotta go. Got a beauty to date."

And Rerun hung up.

Lucy, after hearing about what Rerun was doing, started to feel jealous.

"How I wish Sebastian were still here." she sighed.

Lucy was the only Van Pelt without a love interest. Schroeder paid no attention to her, and just before they reached high school, Sebastian had moved back to Cuba.

"Should I or shouldn't I?" Lucy pondered. "I'll talk to the Dean later. I've got homework to do."

And Lucy got out sheets of paper, and started to write stuff down. Just as she started, Lucy's dorm-mate, Poochie, the first girl to call Charlie Brown by his full name, now 21, walked in.

"Hey, Lucy van Pelt!" said Poochie.

"Hey, Peach." said Lucy.

"Doing homework, I see." said Poochie.

"Yeah." said Lucy.

"Anything else on your mind?" asked Poochie.

"Emerald Green." said Lucy.

"What about Emerald Green?" asked Poochie.

"She's dead."

"Good grief! How?!"

"Suicide." Lucy answered.

"Wow!" cried Poochie. "That's an awful way to die!"

"My brothers will let me know when the funeral is." said Lucy. "Anyway, we've got some studying to do now."
