Chapter 10: Naturally Curly Hairdresser

Sparkyville, USA, 7:05

Frieda Rich, now 21, had also come home from work. After graduating high school, she decided to work with Charlie Brown's father, especially since he'd restyled her hair numerous times. Whenever Sally wasn't working with her pop, Frieda would take over the shifts. After her break up with Tommy, she'd gotten back with 555, dated for a couple of years until 555 found another girl. Frieda decided to look for another guy. She didn't need to look any further than Marty, Tommy's bespectacled Australian friend, who was now 22. Frieda cared for this boy with all her heart.

As Frieda had gotten home, she got a phone call.

"Oh. I wonder who that could be?" she wondered. "Hello?"
"Hello, Frieda." said Lucy. "How was work?"

"It went well." said Frieda.

"I just got news from Rerun."

"Uh huh. What news?"

"Emerald's dead."
"What?!"

"Emerald killed herself."
"GOOD GRIEF!" exclaimed Frieda.

"Rerun also told me either he or Linus will call me once they find out when Emerald's funeral will be." continued Lucy.

"I don't even know if I'll even go." said Frieda. "Given the bad blood between me and Emerald especially after she threatened to uncurl my naturally curly hair when I found her out for framing Tommy and Peppermint Patty."

"Frieda. If you do go, you might get some closure."

"Alright." said Frieda. "I'll think about it."

The two friends hung up on each other, and Frieda got herself ready for her dinner.

"Who was that?" asked Gordon, Frieda's father.

"It was Lucy." said Frieda.

"And what did Lucy call about?"

"Daddy, do you remember Emerald Green?"

"The one who framed Tommy all those years ago?"
"The very same."
"And what did Lucy say about Emerald?" asked Gordon.

"Emerald committed suicide." Frieda explained.
"Good grief!"

"What happened?" asked Millicent, Frieda's mother.

"Emerald killed herself!" said Frieda.

"Goodness!" cried Millicent.

"I know." said Frieda. "Given the bad blood between me and Emerald, I'm still unsure about whether or not I'll go to the funeral."

"If you do, you might get some closure." said Millicent.

"As I told Lucy, I'll think about it." said Frieda. "For now, let's have some dinner. I'm starved."
