Circhester Gym Battles (Part One)
At the Circhester Stadium, the group walks to the entrance to the Test Area where a staff member is standing.
"Excuse us, but we would like to have gym battles here." Lincoln says to the staff member.
"Very well; which of you will be going first?" asked the staff member.
"Ooh, me, me, me!" replied Lana, raising an arm and waving it.
"Very well; once you change into your gym challenger uniform, you may take the Gym Test." said the staff member. Lana runs to the changing room; a couple minutes later, she returns to the staff member, now in her uniform.
"Ready." said Lana.
"Very well." said the staff member before stepping away from the doors leading to the Test Area.
"Good luck, Lana." said Leni. Lana nods and walks to the entrance to the Gym Test area.
"Come on, lets find some seats." said Luna. The rest of the group ran to find some seats at the battle area while Lana entered the Gym Test area. Once inside, Lana finds herself in a large area with a floor covered mostly in snow, and an icy platform. A staff member walks to Lana.
"Hello, gym challenger." said the staff member.
"What's up?" asked Lana. The staff member hands Lana a pair of devices that looked like dowsing rods. "What are these for?"
"That is a Trap Detector." replied the staff member. "There are pit traps in the three areas of the Test Area. Your test is to find your way to each end of each area without falling into one; if you do, you will have to start over from the last platform you were on. The Trap Detector will vibrate when there's a pit trap in front of you. Once you get through all three areas, you'll pass the test and be allowed to face the gym leader, Melony."
"Oh, okay." said Lana. She walks onto the snowy field and walks towards a platform. At Royal Woods, the Louds, the McBrides, the Santiagos, and Simon Sharp were watching on TV; Lynn Sr was still weeping.
Back at Circhester stadium, Lana is walking through the first area of the Test Area towards the icy platform. As she does, the Trap Detector starts vibrating, but she kept walking forward. The ground below her begins to shake and she falls into a pit.
"Dang it." said Lana. She climbs out of it and returns to the starting point. She goes through the area, paying closer attention to the Trap Detector; she was able to reach the icy platform without falling into any pit trap; on the platform was a trainer.
"Get ready to battle, gym challenger." said the trainer.
"Let's go!" said Lana. The trainer pulls out a pokeball.
"Snom, go!" said the trainer, throwing a pokeball and releasing a white, larva-like Pokemon that was covered mostly in ice. Lana takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Snom, the Worm Pokemon. It eats snow that piles up on the ground. The more snow it eats, the bigger and more impressive the spikes on its back grow." said Lana's Rotom Phone. Lana licks her lips at Snom until she reminded herself she was suppose to battle it, not eat it; she pulls out a pokeball.
"Excadrill, go!" said Lana, throwing Excadrill's pokeball and releasing her. "Excadrill, use Crush Claw!" Excadrill's claws glowed white and she slashes Snom with them, dealing damage to Snom and weakening its defense.
"Snom, use Powder Snow!" said Snom's trainer. Snow unleashes powdery snow from its mouth and it hits Excadrill, damaging her.
"Excadrill, use Metal Claw!" said Lana. Excadrill charges at Snow while her claws turned into metal and slashes Snom, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out. "Way to go, Excadrill." Snom's trainer returns Snom to its pokeball and gives Lana pokedollars. Lana returns Excadrill to her pokeball and continues walking through the area, paying attention to the Trap Detector; she soon made it to the other side.
"Lana made it!" said Lynn Jr.
"But she's not done yet." said Rita.
"She literally has two areas to get through." said Lori.
"I wonder what that device Lana is using is like." said Lisa. Back at Circhester Stadium, Lana arrives at an area larger than the first one and with more icy platforms; she walks through it while focusing on the Trap Detector and turns to another direction whenever it vibrated. After a couple minutes, she reaches a platform where a trainer was waiting for her.
"You ready to battle?" asked the trainer.
"Bring it!" said Lana. The trainer pulls out a pokeball.
"Cloyster, go!" said the trainer, throwing a pokeball and releasing a black, spherical Pokemon that was in a light gray shell that was in a jagged, bluish-violet shell. Lana takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Cloyster, the Bivalve Pokemon and the evolved form of Shellder. Once it slams its shell shut, it is impossible to open, even by those with superior strength." said Lana's Rotom Phone. Lana pulls out a pokeball.
"Seismitoad, go!" said Lana, throwing Seismitoad's pokeball and releasing him.
"Cloyster, Icicle Spear!" said Cloyster's trainer. Cloyster fires icicles from its body and they hit Seismitoad, hitting him.
"Seismitoad, Drain Punch!" said Lana. Seismitoad's fist becomes surrounded by a green orb and he punches Cloyster with it, dealing super effective damage, while healing his wounds.
"Cloyster, Razor Shell!" said Cloyster's trainer. Cloyster closes its shell and it flies towards Seismitoad while spinning and slashes him, dealing damage.
"Seismitoad, Mud Shot!" said Lana. Seismitoad fires a large glob of mud at Cloyster and hits it, knocking it out. "Yeah!" Seismitoad does a fist pump. Cloyster's trainer returns Cloyster to its pokeball and gives Lana pokedollars. Lana returns Seismitoad to its pokeball and walks off the icy platform towards the next one; unfortunately, she was so focused on getting to the next icy platform that she wasn't paying attention to her Trap Detector and ends up falling into another pit.
"Dang it." said Lana.
"Focus, Lana." said Lisa from Royal Woods. Lana climbs out of the pit and returns to the icy platform; she walks to the next platform, paying attention to the Trap Detector and makes her way to it where another trainer was waiting for her. The trainer throws a pokeball and releases a large, white, bearlike Pokemon that had icicles hanging on its chin. Lana points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Beartic, the Freezing Pokemon and the evolved form of Cubchoo. It swims energetically through frigid seas. When it gets tired, it freezes the seawater with its breath so it can rest on the ice." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"Excadrill, go!" said Lana, throwing Excadrill's pokeball and releasing her. "Excadrill, Hone Claws!" Excadrill's claws glowed red and an orange aura surrounds her body, raising her attack strength and accuracy.
"Beartic, Blizzard!" said Beartic's trainer. Beartic releases a strong wind with snow in it from its mouth and it hits Excadrill, damaging her.
"Excadrill, Metal Claw!" said Lana. Excadrill's claws turned metal and she slashes Beartic, dealing super effective damage to it; energy surges through Excadrill's body and her attack strength increases.
"Beartic, Icicle Crash!" said Beartic's trainer. Beartic releases a wind with blue sparkles into the air; sharp icicles form in the air and they fall onto Excadrill, damaging her.
"Excadrill, Rock Slide!" said Lana. Excadrill glows white and white rings form above her; large gray rocks fall out of them and onto Beartic, dealing super effective damage to it, knocking it out. "Great job, Excadrill." After she returns Excadrill to her pokeball and Beartic's trainer returned Beartic to its pokeball and giving Lana pokedollars, she continues walking through the test area until she makes it to the other side of it.
"She's doing good so far." said Luan.
"S-She just needs to m-make it through one m-more." said Lynn Sr, whimpering. Rita gives Lynn Sr a tissue and he blows his nose into it. Back at Circhester Stadium, Lana finds herself in front of a larger area with several platforms. She makes her way through it while paying close attention to the Trap Detector and changing directions whenever it vibrated; several minutes later, she reaches a platform that had a trainer on it. The trainer pulls out a pokeball.
"Avalugg, go!" said the trainer, throwing the pokeball and releasing a quadrupedal Pokemon that looked like an upside down iceberg. Lana points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Avalugg, the Iceberg Pokemon and the evolved form of Bergmite. As Avalugg moves about during the day, the cracks in its body deepen. The Pokémon's body returns to a pristine state overnight." said the Rotom Phone.
"Go, Salazzle!" said Lana, throwing Salazzle's pokeball and releases her. "Use Nasty Plot!" Salazzle smirks and her special attack strength increases.
"Avalugg, Body Slam!" said Avalugg's trainer. Avalugg jumps up and lands on Salazzle, damaging her.
"Salazzle, Incinerate!" said Lana. Salazzle releases a beam of fire from her mouth and it hits Avalugg, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Avalugg, Crunch!" said Avalugg's trainer. Avalugg runs at Salazzle and bites her, damaging her, and weakening her defense.
"Salazzle, Fire Lash!" said Lana. Fire surrounds Salazzle's tail and she strikes Avalugg with it, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out. "You did it, Salazzle!" After returing Salazzle to her pokebal while Avalugg's trainer returns Avalugg to its pokeball and gives Lana pokedollars. Lana continued walking through the test area. She focused on the other end of the test area instead of the Trap Detector and falls down another pit.
"Dang it." said Lana. After climbing out of the pit and returning to the last ice platform she was on, she walked through the test area, focusing on the Trap Detector until she made it to the other side. A staff member waiting takes the Trap Detector from her. Lana walks up some stairs until she reaches a round doorway where smoke shoots up from both sides of the stairs, indicating she passed her Gym Test.
"She did it!" said Rita.
"I'm so-so proud of her!" cried Lynn Sr.
"Now all she has to do is beat the gym leader." said Luan.
"Yay, Lana." said Lily. Back at the Circhester Stadium, Lana was giving her Salazzle, Excadrill, and Seismitoad some potions.
"You guys were great; now all we have to do is beat Melony." said Lana. She returns her Pokemon to their pokeballs and walks towards the battlefield.
"Go, Lana!" cheered Lincoln.
"Win that badge, Lana!" said Lola. Soon, Lana and Melony were standing on opposite ends of the battlefield while an official stands in the middle of it.
"This gym battle will be between the Gym Leader Melony and the challenger, Lana Loud." said the official. "Each trainer will use four Pokemon. Whichever trainer is able to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the match begin!" The official walks off the field while Lana and Melody each pull out a pokeball.
"Frosmoth, go!" said Melony, throwing a pokeball and releasing a white, mothlike Pokemon.
"Melony starts things off with her Frosmoth!" said the announcer. Lola takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Frosmoth, the Frost Moth Pokemon and the evolved form of Snom. It shows no mercy to any who desecrate fields and mountains. It will fly around on its icy wings, causing a blizzard to chase offenders away." said Lola's Rotom Phone.
"Excadrill, go!" said Lana, throwing Excadrill's pokeball and releasing her.
"And Lana starts off with Excadrill!" said the announcer.
"Okay, Excadrill, use Crush Claw!" Excadrill's claws glowed white and she slashes Frosmoth with them, dealing damage, and weakening Frosmoth's defense.
"Frosmoth, Icy Wind!" said Melony. Frosmoth flaps its wings and releases a gust of wind with sparkling snow in it from them and it hits Excadrill, dealing damage and lowering her speed. "Now use Blizzard!" Frosmoth flaps its wings and releases a stronger gust of wind with sparkling snow from them and it hits Excadrill, damaging her.
"Excadrill, Rock Slide!" said Lana. Excadrill glows white and white rings form above her; large gray rocks fall out of them and onto Frosmoth, dealing super effective damage and making it flinch. "Now use Metal Claw!" Excadrill's claws turned metal and she slashes Frosmoth with them, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"Frosmoth is unable to battle. Excadrill wins." said the official. Energy surges through Excadrill and her attack strength increases.
"Lana's Excadrill has beaten Melony's Frosmoth." said the announcer. "What will she bring out next?" At the Loud house in Royal Woods.
"Go, Lana!" said Lynn Jr.
"She's doing good so far." said Rita.
"Yes; but Melody might turn this around." said Lisa.
"Lana can do it." said Lynn Jr. Back at Circhester Stadium, Melony returns Frosmoth to its pokeball.
"You did well, Frosmoth." said Melony. She puts Frosmoth's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Darmanitan!" She throws the pokeball and releases a white, apelike Pokemon with light blue skin around its eyes, hands and feet, as well as an afro. Leni takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Darmanitan, the Zen Charm Pokemon and the evolved form of Darumaka. Though it has a gentle disposition, it's also very strong. It will quickly freeze the snowball on its head before going for a headbutt." said Leni's Rotom Phone.
"And Melony's second Pokemon is her Darmanitan!" said the announcer. Excadrill and Darmanitan face each other.
"Darmanitan, use Fire Fang!" said Melody. Darmanitan leaps at Excadrill while fire formed around its teeth and it bites onto Excadrill, dealing super effective damage. Fire surrounds Excadrill's body.
"Oh no; Excadrill's burned!" said Lincoln.
"Excadrill, use Crush Claw!" said Lana. Excadrill runs at Darmanitan and slashes it with her claws, damaging her, and weakening her defense. Excadrill flinches in pain from her burn.
"Darmanitan, use Bite!" said Melony. Darmanitan runs at Excadrill and bites her, dealing damage, and causing her to flinch; Excadrill flinches in pain from her burn. "Fire Fang, once more!" Darmanitan leaps at Excadrill while fire covered its teeth and it bites Excadrill, dealing super effective damage and knocking her out.
"Excadrill is unable to battle. Darmanitan wins the match." said the announcer.
"Melony's Darmanitan has beaten Lana's Excadrill." said the announcer. "What Pokemon will Lana bring out next?"
"Don't give up, Lana!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Keep battling!" said Luna. Lana returns Excadrill to her pokeball.
"You did great, Excadrill." said Lana. She puts Excadrill's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Salazzle, go!" She throws Salazzle's pokeball and releases her.
"Lana's second Pokemon is a Salazzle!" said the announcer.
"Salazzle, Fire Lash!" said Lana. Salazzle charges at Darmanitan while fire covered her tail and she strikes Darmanitan with it, dealing super effective damage, and lowering its defense. Darmanitan suddenly turns into what appeared to see a snowman with two section with a fiery nose on its head, a face on the lower section and orange hands.
"It looks like you activate my Darmanitan's Zen Mode ability." said Melony.
"What's that?" asked Lana.
"When Darmanitan loses more than half its energy, it goes to Zen Mode where it's part fire, part ice." said Melony. "I'm afraid fire type moves won't do as much damage to it as it did before." Ronnie Anne points her Rotom Phone at Darmanitan.
"Darmanitan Galarian Zen Mode. Darmanitan takes this form when enraged. It won't stop spewing flames until its rage has settled, even if its body starts to melt." said Ronnie Anne's Rotom Phone.
"Darmanitan, Headbutt!" said Melony. Darmanitan leaps at Salazzle and rams her, knocking her back.
"Salazzle, Poison Fang!" said Lana. Salazzle runs at Darmanitan while her fangs glowed purple and she bites Darmanitan, dealing more damage than it normally would due to its defense being weakened by Fire Lash; it turned purple under Darmanitan's eyes.
"Darmanitan's poisoned!" said Clyde. Darmanitan coughs and loses stamina from its poisoning.
"Darmanitan, use Bite!" said Melony. Darmanitan jumps at Salazzle and bites her, damaging her.
"Salazzle, Venoshock!" said Lana. Salazzle fires out globs of purple liquid out of her mouth and they hit Darmanitan, dealing more damage than it normally would due to Venoshock doing more damage to a poisoned foe. Darmanitan coughs from its poisoning and it collapses.
"Darmanitan is unable to battle. Salazzle wins the match." said the official.
"Lana's Salazzle has beaten Melony's Darmanitan!" said the announcer. "Melony now has two Pokemon left!" Back at the Loud house.
"That's my g-girl!" cried Lynn Sr.
"Two down; two to go." said Luan. Back at Circhester Stadium, Melony returns Darmanitan to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Darmanitan." said Melony. She puts Darmanitan's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Eiscue, go!" She throws the pokeball and releases a penguin-like Pokemon that had an ice cube around its head. Sam points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
Eiscue Ice Face, the Penguin Pokemon. This Pokémon keeps its heat-sensitive head cool with ice. It fishes for its food, dangling its single hair into the sea to lure in prey." said Sam's Rotom Phone.
"Melony's third Pokemon is an Eiscue!" said the announcer.
"Okay, Salazzle, use Fire Lash!" said Lana. Salazzle runs at Eiscue while fire surrounded her tail and she strikes Eiscue with it; the ice cube surrounded its head shatters, leaving a small, light blue, horizontal oval shaped head in its place. Lucy points her Rotom Phone at Eiscue.
"Eiscue, Noice Face, the Penguin Pokemon. The hair on its head connects to the surface of its brain. When this Pokémon has something on its mind, its hair chills the air around it." said Sam's Rotom Phone.
"Thank goodness for Eiscue's Ice Face ability; it protects her from a physical attack, but only once." said Melony. "Eiscue, Headbutt!" Eiscue leaps at Salazzle and rams her head against her, damaging her, and making her flinch. "Now use Freeze-Dry!" Eiscue releases a gust of cold air from her mouth and it hits Salazzle, but not doing much damage.
"Salazzle, use Incinerate!" said Lana. Salazzle unleashes a beam of fire from her mouth and it hits Eiscue, dealing super effective damage.
"Eiscue, use Tackle!" said Melony. Eiscue runs at Salazzle and rams her, knocking her back.
"Salazzle, Fire Lash!" said Lana. Salazzle swings a fiery tail at Eiscue and hits her with it, dealing super effective damage and knocking her out.
"Eiscue is unable to battle. Salazzle wins the match." said the official.
"Lana's Salazzle has beaten another of Melony's Pokemon, bringing her down to one Pokemon!" said the announcer.
"You're doing great, Lana!" said Lincoln.
"Just one more!" said Clyde. Melony returns Eiscue to her pokeball.
"You did your best, Eiscue." said Melony. She puts Eiscue's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing quite well, Lana; but you need to beat my final Pokemon to win an Ice Badge from me."
"Bring it!" said Lana.
"As you wish; Lapras, go!" said Melony, throwing her pokeball and releasing a blue Pokemon that resembled a Plesiosaur with a gray shell on its back and a cream colored underbelly. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Lapras, the Transport Pokemon. Crossing icy seas is no issue for this cold-resistant Pokémon. Its smooth skin is a little cool to the touch." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"Melony's final Pokemon is a Lapras!" said the announcer. Melony then returns her Lapras to its pokeball and enlarges it with a Dynamax Band she was wearing. She throws it and releases Lapras, now larger and its shell resembled a cruise ship. "Melony has Gigantimaxed her Lapras; can it beat Lana's Salazzle?"
"Salazzle, Poison Fang!" said Lana. Salazzle runs at the Gigantimaxed Lapras and bites it, damaging it.
"Max Geyser!" said Melony. Lapras fires a massive stream of water from its mouth and it hits Salazzle, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out. It begins to rain around the battlefield.
"Salazzle is unable to battle. Lapras wins the match." said the official.
"Melony's Lapras has beaten Lana's Salazzle!" said the announcer. "Can Lana turn this match around?" Back at Royal Woods.
"What kind of stupid question is that?" asked Lynn Jr.
"Lana can literally turn this around." said Lori.
"You can do it, sweetie!" said Rita.
"W-We believe in yoooooou!" cried Lynn Sr before he began sobbing. Back at Circhester Stadium, Lana returns Salazzle to her pokeball.
"You were incredible out there, Salazzle." said Lana. She puts Salazzle's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Seismitoad, go!" She throws Seismitoad's pokeball and releases him.
"Lana's next Pokemon is a Seismitoad!" said the announcer. Lana returns Seismitoad to his pokeball and enlarges it with her Dynamax Band; she throws it and releases Seismitoad, now Dynamaxed. "And Lana Dynamaxes her Seismitoad; it's Dynamaxed Pokemon vs Gigantimaxed Pokemon! Who will win?!"
"Seismitoad, Max Knuckle!" said Lana. Seismitoad runs at the Gigantimaxed Lapras and punches it, dealing super effective damage. He begins surging with energy and his attack strength increases.
"Lapras, Max Hailstorm!" said Melony. Lapras lets out a loud yell and large chunks of ice fall from the sky and a massive one lands on Seismitoad, damaging him. It begins to hail on the battlefield. Some of the hail hits Seismitoad, damaging him.
"Seismitoad, use Max Quake!" said Lana. Seismitoad pounds the ground with his fists, sending a shockwave towards Lapras and hits it, damaging it. Seismitoad begins surging with energy and his special defense increases.
"Lapras, Max Strike!" said Melony. Lapras surges with energy and a pillar of energy shoots up from below Seismitoad, hitting him, and lowering his speed. Hail falls onto Seismiotad, damaging him.
"Seismitoad, Max Knuckle!" said Lana. Seismitoad punches Lapras, dealing super effective damage; Lapras shrinks to its regular form and passes out.
"Lapras is unable to battle. Seismitoad wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lana Loud!" said the official.
"Lana's done it! Lana's Seismitoad has beaten Melony's Lapras and earning Lana the victory!" said the announcer.
"We did it!" cheered Lana as Seismitoad returns to his regular form. Lana runs to Seismitoad and hugs him. "You're the best, Seismitoad!"
"Way to go, Lana!" said Lincoln.
"That was amazing!" said Clyde. Back at Royal Woods.
"Lana won!" said Lori.
"Never doubted her." said Lynn Jr.
"I'm so proud of her." said Rita.
"I hope Melony doesn't make Lana a successor." whimpered Lynn Sr. Back at Circhester Stadium, Melony returns Lapras to its pokeball.
"I'm proud of you for fighting hard, Lapras." said Melony. She puts Lapras' pokeball away and walks to Lana. "You've done an excellent job raising your Pokemon, Lana."
"Thanks." replied Lana. Melony reaches into her pocket and pulls out a badge that had a light blue image of an ice cube on it. "For your victory here, I present you with the Ice Badge." She gives Lana the badge, along with pokedollars. "Yeah! I just won the Ice Badge!"
Later, at the stadium lobby, Lana was being congratulated by her siblings and friends.
"That was so cool." said Ronnie Anne.
"You were totes amazing." said Leni.
"We knew you could do it." said Lucy from behind Lana, scaring her. A staff member walks to the group.
"Which one of you will be taking the Gym Test next?" asked the staff member. Lola steps forward.
"That would be me." said Lola.
"When you're ready, enter the test area." said the staff member.
"Do your best, Lola." said Lincoln.
"You know I always do, Lincoln." said Lola as she steps through the door leading to the test area; once she enters it.
Will Lola pass the Gym Test and earn her Ice Badge? Wait and find out.
