Meeting Korrina, and Versant Road
"Hey, Lincoln; since you can't challenge the Lumiose City Gym yet, what are you going to do now?" asked Tierno.
"Guess I'll have to challenge another gym." said Lincoln.
"So, where's the closest one?" asked Serena. Lincoln pulls his map of Kalos out of his backpack and looks through it.
"According to this, the nearest gym, not counting the one in Santalune City is in Cyllage City." said Trevor. "If we travel south of here through Route 5 until we reach a place called Camphrier Town, continue through Route 7 until we reach a tunnel called Connecting Cave, we go through that and reach Route 8, go through there until we reach a place called Ambrette Town."
"I know that place." said Lincoln. "That's where I woke up after I washed up here after the boat incident."
"Oh." said Shauna with pity in her voice. "Are you gonna be okay to go there?"
"I think I'll be fine." said Lincoln.
"Are you sure?" asked Tierno.
"Yeah; I have to get to Cyllage City so I can challenge the gym there." said Lincoln.
"If you say so." said Serena.
"Then let's go!" said Shauna as she grabs Lincoln's hand, making him blush, while everyone else chuckles, and starts pulling him along.
"Do you think Shauna realizes what she's doing?" asked Tierno with a grin.
"Probably not until we stop somewhere." said Serena.
"Let's catch up with them." said Trevor before he, Serena, and Tierno run after Lincoln and Shauna.
Later, Lincoln and Shauna reach Route 5 and look around at everything, including all the skating parks in the area.
"I'm guessing people come here to skate." said Lincoln.
"What Pokemon do you think there are here?" asked Shauna.
"I can't wait to find out!" said Lincoln. Soon; Serena, Tierno, and Trevor catch up with them and stop to catch their breaths.
"Do you have to be in such a hurry?" asked Serena.
"Sorry." said Shauna. Tierno looks to see that Shauna was still holding Lincoln's hand and snickers.
"Shauna, you can let go of Lincoln's hand now." said Tierno, making Shauna look at Lincoln's hand, then at him with a blush on her face when she realized what she was doing, making her let go.
"S-Sorry!" said Shauna while she was still blushing.
"T-That's okay." said Lincoln. Serena, Tierno, and Trevor all laugh at how awkward Shauna and Lincoln were acting.
"C-Can we just get going?!" asked Shauna, hoping to change the subject.
"Okay." said Serena as she calms down.
"Lucario, wait up!" a female voice says. Everyone looks to see a blue, bipedal, caninelike Pokemon with a cream-colored torso with a spike coming out of the center of it, black rings around its shoulders, black hands with a spike on each one, black forelegs, and black appendages hanging down the back of its head, running down the road towards them.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon who suddenly stops in front of him.
"Lucario, the Aura Pokemon, and the evolved form of Riolu. By catching the aura emanating from others, it can read their thoughts and movements." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"So this is Riolu's evolved form, huh?" asked Lincoln. Just then, a girl with blonde hair with a very long ponytail, wearing a white and red skating helmet, white and red sleeveless dress over black shorts, wearing white fingerless gloves with red trim, along with matching skates; was skating over to them with another Lucario following after her.
"What's gotten into you, Lucario?" asked the girl who then looks over at Lincoln. "Sorry about that; I don't know what's gotten into him."
"That's okay." said Lincoln. "No harm done." The girl takes a look at Lincoln before she skates around him as if checking him out; she stops in front of him and looks him over.
"You know you're kind of cute." said the girl, making Lincoln blush, and Shauna frown.
"Who are you?" asked Shauna in a defensive tone.
"Oh, sorry; I forgot to introduce myself." said the girl. "My name is Korrina. I'm the Shalour City gym leader." Everyone was surprised by the reveal.
"You're a gym leader?" asked Tierno.
"That's right." said Korrina with a smile.
"My name is Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln.
"I'm Shauna." said Shauna as she wraps her arms around Lincoln out of reflex.
"I'm Tierno." said Tierno.
"I'm Trevor." said Trevor.
"And I'm Serena." said Serena.
"Please to meet you all." said Korrina.
"Hey, isn't Shalour City the place that Professor Sycamore said to look to find information on Mega Evolution?" asked Trevor.
"Yeah." said Serena.
"So what are you doing out here, Korrina?" asked Tierno.
"I was just doing some special training with my Lucario when all of a sudden, it dashed off." She looked towards Lucario. "What's going on with you, Lucario; Did you get drawn in by Lincoln's aura or something?"
"Aura?" asked Lincoln. Lucario looked towards Korrina and nods.
"Everyone has an invisible aura that surrounds them." said Korrina. "Most beings can't see them, but Riolus and Lucarios are able to see and read them. Something about yours has caught my Lucario's interest."
"How come?" asked Lincoln.
"I don't really know." said Korrina. "So what are you all up to?"
"We're heading for Cyllage Town so Lincoln can challenge the gym there." said Tierno.
"So you're going for the Kalos League then?" Korrina asked Lincoln.
"Yep." said Lincoln. "I already got the Bug Badge from the Santalune City gym."
"Not bad." said Korrina. "Hopefully when you get to my gym, you'll be strong enough to give me a challenge."
"I plan on training my Pokemon very hard." said Lincoln.
"That's good to hear." said Korrina. "I hope to see you soon." She then winks at Lincoln, making him blush again, before skating off back down the road with her two Lucarios.
"She seems nice." said Serena.
"Whatever." said Shauna. Tierno notices that Shauna's arms were still wrapped around Lincoln.
"Shauna, you can let go of Lincoln now." said Tierno. Shauna's face turns red before she releases her hold on Lincoln who was blushing also.
"Sorry!" said Shauna.
"Don't worry, Shauna." said Serena with a small laugh.
"Let's just get going!" said Shauna before she storms off.
"Someone's jealous." said Tierno.
The group continues going down Route 5; looking around for Pokemon as they do. They hear some rustling coming from some nearby grass; making them look to see a Pokemon that kind of looked like a small panda bear.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lincoln as he points his pokedex at the new Pokemon.
"Pancham, the Playful Pokemon. It does its best to be taken seriously by its enemies, but its glare is not sufficiently intimidating. Chewing on a leaf is its trademark." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Can I catch this one?" asked Serena.
"We don't see why not." said Shauna. Serena steps forward and pulls a pokeball off her waist; she tosses it, releasing her Pidgey.
"Good move." said Trevor. "Since Pancham's a fighting type; a flying type like Pidgey would have an advantage."
"All right, Pidgey, use Gust!" said Serena. Her Pidgey flaps her wings, releasing a gust of wind that hits the Pancham, dealing super effective damage; the Pancham responds by stomping around, getting itself worked up.
"What's it doing?" asked Tierno.
"Be careful." said Lincoln.
"Pidgey, use Quick Attack!" said Serena. Her Pidgey moves at the Pancham with incredible speed and slams into it; the Pancham then runs at Pidgey and rams her, knocking her to the ground.
"That looked like it hurt." said Tierno.
"Well, I'm not giving up!" said Serena as Pidgey gets up and starts flying around the Pancham. "Pidgey, use one more Gust!" Her Pidgey, once again, flaps her wings, releasing another blast of wind that hits the Pancham, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground.
"I think it's weak enough, Serena!" said Trevor. Serena nods before she takes an empty pokeball out of her bag and throws it at the Pancham, hittting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Yes! I caught Pancham!" said Serena. She then looks up her new Pokemon's information on her pokedex. "This says my Pancham's a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Arm Thrust, and Work Up; she has the Iron Fist ability which makes her punching moves stronger."
They also took the time to train their Pokemon.
Lincoln's Bagon learned Focus Energy, his Braixen learned Psybeam, his Panpour learned Fury Swipes and Water Sport, his Dunsparce learned Yawn, his Riolu learned Force Palm, and his Flabebe learned Lucky Chant and Razor Leaf.
At a flower bed, Shauna was looking at a bipedal, cream colored Pokemon with red marking, long flat ears that are mostly red, a red circle with a cream colored plus sign on each of its cheeks, and a tail with a red plus sign on the tip of it. Shauna takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Plusle, the Cheering Pokemon. It cheers on friends with pom-poms made of sparks. It drains power from telephone poles." said Shauna's pokedex.
"Oh, you're so cute!" said Shauna. She takes out a pokeball. "Metapod, go!" She throws Metapod's pokeball and releases her. "Metapod, use Tackle!" Metapod leaps at Plusle and rams it, knocking it back. The Plusle runs at Metapod while rubbing its cheeks, making electricty come out of them; Plusle rubs its cheeks against Metapod, and damages her; she begins to twitch.
"Oh no; Metapod's paralyzed." said Shauna. A thin layer of skin peels out of Metapod and she stopped twitching. "Good thing Metapod has the Shed Skin ability; okay Metapod, use Tackle once more!" Metapod leaps at Plusle and rams it, knocking it to the ground. Shauna takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Plusle, hitting it, and sucking it in. It wiggled a few times until it clicked.
"Yes! I caught Plusle!" said Shauna. A large crack appears on Metapod's body. "Are you okay, Metapod?" Bright light comes out of the crack on Metapod's body; a purple, butterfly-like Pokemon with blue hands and feet, and white wings, comes out of Metapod. Shauna points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon and the final evolved form of Caterpie. It loves the honey of flowers and can locate flower patches that have even tiny amounts of pollen." said Shauna's pokedex.
"Wow; and this says you learned Confusion when you evolved and you have the Compound Eyes ability which increases your accuracy." said Shauna. She then looks up her newly caught Plusle's information. "This says Plusle's a girl, she know Nasty Plot, Entrainment, Nuzzle, Play Nice, Growl, Thunder Wave, and Quick Attack; she has the Lightning Rod ability which prevents electric attacks from harming her, but instead, powers up her special attack strength."
"We're all doing good so far; but I want to be sure to be ready for the Cyllage gym by the time we get there." said Lincoln.
"Don't worry, you will be." said Shauna as she puts her hand on Lincoln's shoulder, making him blush a bit.
"Let's get going then." said Lincoln.
Lincoln and his friends continue to journey on towards Cyllage City for Lincoln's next gym battle. Will he be ready when he arrives? Wait and find out.
