Wallace Cup Appeal Round
The next couple of days were busy for Stella and Dawn as they prepared for the Wallace Cup. They spent whatever free time they could training their Pokemon for the upcoming Pokemon Contest.
The two would spend their time in the Grand Underground, teaching their Pokemon new moves, and working on new performances.
Stella's Roserade and Eevee got stronger, her Beautifly learned Giga Drain and Bug Buzz, her Corsola learned Life Dew, her Combusken learned Focus Energy, and her Horsea learned Bubble Beam and Agility.
Dawn's Piplup learned Drill Peck, her Sylveon got stronger, her Pachirisu learned Super Fang, her Lopunny learned Agililty, and her Swablu and Quilava got stronger. During their training, Quilava and Swablu both began to glow.
"Hey; Quilava and Swablu are evolving." said Dawn. Everyone else watches as Quilava and Swablu began to grow. When they stopped glowing, Quilava was now bigger and bulkier, and had several red spots around the back of its neck; Swablu most mostly covered in fluffy white feathers that looked like a cloud, she had a long blue neck, a white beak, two long blue feathers on the back of her head, blue legs and clawed feet, and blue tail feathers.
"She's beautiful." Lola says as she looked in awe at Dawn's newly evolved Swablu. Dawn points her pokedex at her newly evolved Swablu.
"Altaria, the Humming Pokemon and the evolved form of Swablu. It looks like a fluffy cloud when it is in flight. It hums with its soprano voice." said Dawn's pokedex.
"It says Altaria is now part dragon, part flying." said Dawn. She then points her pokedex at her newly evolved Quilava.
"Typhlosion, the Volcano Pokemon and the final evolved form of Cyndaquil. It attacks using blasts of fire. It creates heat shimmers with intense fire to hide itself." said Dawn's pokedex.
"Cool!" said Clyde.
"They should really help in the Wallace Cup." said Dawn.
Along with her training for the upcoming contest, Stella would spend every other moment being with Lincoln; they would have meals together while looking each other in the eyes with blushes and smiles on their faces, they would relax on the beach while lying next to each other while holding hands and just enjoying each other's company.
Lincoln, Clyde, and Stella's families were taking advantage of all the commodities the Hotel Grand Lake had to offer, such as the beach, the free food they would get whenever Lincoln and Stella earn it by winning their battles much to the staff's chagrin, the room service paid for by the money they got selling the bottle caps they brought.
On the day before the Wallace Cup, Lincoln was relaxing in the Louds' room when some knocking was heard from the door; he gets up and opens it to see Stella.
"Hi, Lincoln." said Stella.
"Hey, Stella." said Lincoln.
"Wanna hang out?" asked Stella. "There's a festival going on in the resort's plaza area right now. I figure we can go there together, just the two of us, like the date we never got to have because of what happened with Rusty's photo."
"That sounds like a good idea." said Lincoln, results in squeals of delight coming from his sisters.
"Yours and Stella's first real date!" said Lori.
"Can we go to the festival also?" asked Lana.
"Sure, but let's let Lincoln and Stella have their alone time." said Rita.
"Okay." said the Loud sisters who then give Lincoln some of the pokedollars they got to help him pay for stuff at the festival.
Lincoln and Stella left the hotel and wandered into the plaza area where lots of game, food, and souvenir stands were set up for all the tourists who came to see the Wallace Cup.
"Shall we?" asked Lincoln as he offered Stella his arm.
"We shall." Stella replied as she hooks her arm around Lincoln's. The two go through the fairway and see what the booths had to offer; they sampled bits of all the food from the food stands, played some games including one where you threw pokeballs at stuffed Pokemon dolls, with Lincoln winning a stuffed Teddiursa for Stella, making her smile and kiss him on the cheek, making both of them blush; Lincoln also bought Stella a hairclip she had her eye on that looked like her old one, but with a white rose similar to the one on her Roserade's head.
Right now, Lincoln and Stella's families, along with the McBrides and the Sharp children, were taking a rest after seeing what the festival had to offer themselves.
"Can you believe the size of the cookies here?!" asked Lana as she bit into a cookie that was the size of her head.
"This dimension is amazing!" said Lola as she bit into her cookie.
"I can't wait to see all the performances at the contest tomorrow." said Lori.
"Hi, everyone." Dawn's voice calls out, making the group look to see Dawn walking over to them.
"Hey, Dawn." said Sam.
"Where are Lincoln and Stella?" asked Dawn.
"They're out on a date." said Sam, making Dawn frown before she walks off somewhere.
"She's jealous." said Luan.
"Maybe she should let Lincoln and Stella be together." said Lori.
"I'm sure she'll learn to accept the fact that bro and Stella are an item." said Luna.
After dinner, the group go back to their rooms to get some sleep for the Wallace Cup.
The next morning, after everyone had breakfast, they all head over to the stadium where the Wallace Cup was taking place and wait for it to get started. In the audience, the Louds, McBrides, Zhaus, and Sharp children, were sitting in the bleachers, waiting for the contest to begin.
"This is going to be so exciting." said Rita.
"I finally get to see a contest in person!" said Lola.
"Check out the stage!" said Lana as she and everyone else looks to see a large pool of water at the center.
"This should, literally, be amazing." said Lori.
"Gonna cheer our daughter on, Lincoln?" Mrs. Zhau asked the white-haired Loud.
"You better believe I will." said Lincoln with excitement in his voice.
In the backstage area, everyone there was getting into their coordinator outfits and going over their performances.
"I hope I do okay." said Stella.
"Don't worry." said Dawn. "There will be other contests if you don't win."
"I guess so." said Stella.
"Just focus on the Appeal Round for now." said Zoey who was nearby.
"You're right." said Stella. "I should be focused on just having fun."
"That's the spirit." said Zoey.
Soon, the Wallace Cup was just getting started; on the stage, Marian was walking to the center of it where a microphone was located.
"Hello, everyone!" said Marian. "Welcome to the annual Wallace Cup! Coordinators from all over the world are gathered here in order to try to win the Aqua Ribbon!"
Just then, the lights go out, and a spotlight shines down on the pool.
"What's going on?" asked Leni.
"Must be something special." said Lincoln.
A plume of aquamarine-colored smoke appears on one of the platforms at the ends of the pool; when it clears, everyone sees a man with teal-colored hair, wearing a white beret, a cape that was white on the outside, and teal on the inside; along with a teal and white jacket, and light purple pants, and white shoes.
"And now our special guest; a former gym leader, now coordinator: Wallace!" said Marian. Everyone, including the ladies, all cheered loudly for Wallace.
"Bah... Bah... Bah..." stammered the Loud sisters, except Luna.
"Welcome, everyone." said Wallace. "I hope to see plenty of splendid performances from all our coordiators here today; allow me to show you one of mine." He takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing a cream-colored serpentine Pokemon with long pink antennaes and long fins above its eyes, blue and pink diamond shaped scales on the lower half of its body, and four blue fins with a pink oval on each of them on the end of its tail.
"It's...beautiful!" shouts Lola. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Milotic, the Tender Pokemon and the evolved form of Feebas. It is the world's most beautiful Pokémon. There are many works of art featuring Milotic." said Lincoln's pokedex.
"I want one!" shouts Lola.
Wallace's Milotic dives into the water with him riding on top of it.
"Milotic, use Dive!" said Wallace. He leaps high into the air as his Pokemon dives underwater; everyone watches for a while before Milotic erupts from the water, making shoot up after it. "Now use Icy Wind to freeze the water, followed by Aqua Ring!" His Milotic swings its tail, releasing a freezing gust that freezes the rising water into a crystal tower; glowing blue rings surround it and makes it shimmer while Milotic and Wallace land on top of it.
The stadium erupted with thunderous applause at Wallace's performance.
"That was, totes, amazing!" said Leni.
"It, literally, was." said Lori.
"An exceptional performance if I do say so myself." said Lisa.
"I know that Stella will do just as good." said Lincoln. After the applause dies down and Wallace exits the pool area, Marian gets back onto one of the platforms.
"Now let's go to our panel of judges." said Marian as she waves her hand towards three familiar contest judges.
"I'm Raoul Contesta, and I am very excited to be here at the Wallace Cup." said Raoul Contesta.
"I'm Mr. Sumiko and today should be quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"And I'm Nurse Joy, and I know our coordinators and everyone watching them will have lots of fun today." said Nurse Joy.
"And Mr. Wallace will also be judging alongside them as well." said Marian. Wallace walks over to the judges' panels and sits down next to Nurse Joy, making her blush.
Soon, the Performance Stage was underway; several coordinators come out and dazzle everyone with their Pokemon's displays of skill.
It was then Stella's turn, and she steps up onto one of the pool's platforms while she was wearing her coordinator outfit, which was a red bellydancer outfit; Lincoln gawks at her.
"Bah... Bah... Bah..." Lincoln stammered, making his sisters, along with Stella's parents, chuckle at him.
Stella lets out her Horsea in a flurry of bubbles, into the water.
"Okay, Horsea, use Whirlpool!" said Stella. Her Horsea starts swimming around while creating a whirlpool in the pool. "Now use Twister!" Horsea goes to the center of a whirlpool and starts twirling on its tail, making water rise up out of it, making a sprialling tower of water. "Now ride the tower up to the top while using Bubble Beam!" Her Horsea rides the current of the spiralling tower while releasing glowing bubbles from her mouth which float around it, giving it a mystical look. As soon as Horsea reaches the top, the tower and bubbles disperse, making a cascade of sparkling droplets of water rain down into the pool.
Everyone gives Stella a standing ovation for her spectacular performance.
"That performance was simply awe-inspiring." said Raoul Contesta.
"Truly remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The coordinator truly must have a creative imagination to come up with such a display." said Nurse Joy.
"I am very impressed by young Stella's talent as a coordinator and believes she has a lot of potential." said Wallace.
"That was amazing!" said Lincoln.
"You said it, buddy!" said Clyde.
"That was so rockin'." said Luna.
Stella climbs down from the pool platform and walks towards the backstage, but not before giving Lincoln a wink and blowing him a kiss, making him blush.
After a couple more performances, it was Dawn's turn. She steps onto the pool platform, wearing the pink dress she wore in previous contests, and pulls out a pokeball.
"Piplup, spotlight!" said Dawn, throwing her Piplup's pokeball and releases her, followed by bubbles; Piplup dives into the pool. "Piplup, use Drill Peck followed by Bubble Beam!" Piplup uses Drill Peck to shoot up from the pool, pulling up a spiral of water which was combined with the glowing bubbles from Bubble Beam, creating a column of water and bubbles. "Now use Fury Attack!" Piplup turns himself downward and repeatedly pecks through the water and bubble column, breaking it apart, and creating a cascade of sparkling droplets over the entire pool while Piplup dives into it; seconds later, he jumps out of the pool and onto the platform Dawn was on; he lands in front of her and takes a bow.
Everyone stood and cheered and applauded for Dawn's incredible performance.
"That performance was truly astounding." said Raoul Contesta.
"And quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The combination shows how in control both coordinator and Pokemon are with the Pokemon's moves." said Nurse Joy.
"That performance was quite spectacular." said Wallace.
"That was really incredible." said Rita.
"Totes amazing." said Leni.
"It was so pretty." said Lola.
Later, Dawn returned to the waiting room where Stella, Kenny, and Zoey were waiting.
"You didn't do too bad out there, Dee Dee." said Kenny.
"Don't call me that." replied Dawn.
"I'm just teasing; relax." said Kenny.
"Well, I'm up next." said Zoey.
"Good luck out there." said Stella.
"I didn't need luck before, I don't plan on relying on it now." said Zoey. She leaves the waiting room; Kenny sneaks a glance at Dawn and blushes.
Moments later, Zoey was on the platform of the pool and pulls out a pokeball.
"Let's go, Finneon!" said Zoey, throwing a pokeball and releasing a fishlike Pokemon that was black on its top half, light blue on its lower half, and had a pink stripe around the middle of it. Sam takes out her pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Finneon, the Wing Fish Pokemon. The way its two tail fins flutter while it swims has earned it the nickname Beautifly of the Sea." said Sam's pokedex.
"So many pretty Pokemon." Lola said with glee.
"Finneon, use Silver Wind in the pool!" said Zoey. Finneon jumps up from the water and releases a silver gust of wind that reaches around the entire pool; Finneon falls back into the water. "Now use Safeguard!" Finneon is surrounded by a turquoise glow. "Now use Waterfall!" Finneon's eyes glowed blue and a column of water rises out of the water and Finneon begins swimming up around it in a spiraling motion until it reaches the top and is surrounded by a glowing cascade of water.
Everyone in the audience applauded at Zoey's performance.
"Such an astounding performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"And quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The performance shows how well the communication between Pokemon and coordinator is." said Nurse Joy.
"Yes; Zoey is quite an incredible coordinator, and her skill will no doubt get her far." said Wallace.
Soon, it was Kenny's turn; he lets out a Floatzel in a blast of blue confetti.
"Kenny has a Floatzel also?" asked Lincoln.
"Looks like it little dude." said Sam.
"Floatzel, use Ice Beam on the water!" shouts Kenny. His Floatzel fires a beam of ice energy from its mouth, freezing the pool. "Now use Iron Tail to carve out a big chunk of the ice!" His Floatzel's tails both turn into metal as they start striking the ice with great force until a very large piece of it comes flying out. "Now use Brick Break on it!" His Floatzel leaps above the airborne ice chunk and slams its right hand onto the top of it, causing it to crack and shatter into hundreds of pieces. Everyone cheers for Kenny's performance.
"A fine show of skill from the coordinator's Pokemon." said Raoul Contesta.
"Remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"The Pokemon's talent with its moves were impressive." said Nurse Joy.
"It was simply okay." said Wallace.
Later, after the last of the coordinators finished their performances, they waited to see who made it to the Battle Stage; everyone watches the screen and sees that Dawn, Zoey, and Stella all made it to the next round.
"I made it!" said Stella.
"Me, too!" said Zoey.
"So did I!" said Dawn. Kenny looks at the screen several times before he sulks when he sees he didn't make it to the next round.
"That stinks." said Kenny with disappointment in his voice.
"Sorry, Kenny." said Dawn.
"There's always next time." said Zoey.
"I guess." said Kenny.
"What are you gonna do now?" asked Dawn.
"I'll stick around and watch the rest of the Wallace Cup." said Kenny. "Maybe I'll get some inspiration for better performances."
Later, in the lobby, the Louds, McBrides, Stella's parents, and the Sharp children were congratulating Stella and Dawn on making it to the next round.
"Good work, you two." said Lori.
"You both made it!" said Leni.
"So many beautiful Pokemon." said Lola.
"Congratulations, Dawn." a female's voice says from nearby, making them look to see a woman with the same hair color as Dawn, wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, blue pants, and red shoes.
"Mom." said Dawn.
"You're Dawn's mother?" asked Sam.
"My name is Johanna." said Dawn's mother, now known as Johanna. "Who are you people?" Everyone then introduces themselves.
"What are you doing here?" asked Dawn.
"I came to watch my little girl perform, and I must say your performance was wonderful." said Johanna.
"Thank you, Mom." said Dawn. "I just have to focus on winning the Battle Stage."
"I'll be cheering for you." said Johanna.
Dawn, Stella, and Zoey have made it to the next round of the Wallace Cup. Who will win the Aqua Ribbon? Wait and find out.
