Lucifer, the Devil, fell in love with an angel and had twin children, one boy and one girl.

Many years later, the young Princess Amingethia and her brother, Prince Damien, were troublesome tricksters who always seemed to be underfoot and causing problems for Heaven, much to their father's delight.

Until one day, their jokes went too far, and they set a church ablaze, burning down an entire village and causing grievous harm to a young angel.

They were captured and brought before God's court, their father unable to do anything to protect them from their fates.

God declared they were to be separated, and while Damien, in fear, plead for mercy, Amingethia did not, full of defiance and naive bravery. As a result, God would allow Damien to remain with his father, but to teach Amingethia a lesson, God turned her into a toddler, and tasked her brother with the job of finding her a place on Earth to be raised for ten years, to teach her humility and mortality.

To keep Lucifer from intervening, God threatened that should she not carry out her sentence in its entirety, then she would lose all her memories and all her powers forever, and be forced to walk the Earth in limbo between life and death for eternity. The only allowance was should she die naturally before the sentence was up, then she would be held again before Heaven's court to decide her fate.

Hearing this, just before her memories were taken, Amingethia instructed Damien to place her in a broken home, where surely she would die early, and not have to live out the life of a mortal child. Damien, unfortunately, took her words too literally, and placed the child in a falling building, giving her his cat teddy as a comfort before leaving.

Amingethia was clever, yes, but God saw through her attempts at a loophole, and found a parent to adopt the abandoned child. Though not entirely human, the parent was humble, and would in turn teach Amingethia well.

As a last act of mercy, God placed a small piece of Amingethia's magic into the cat teddy, for her to discover on her own and develop, until the ten years were up.

It was a dark and stormy night in New York City. Lightning flashed and thunder roared across the darkened sky.

Down a tunnel in the sewers, in a small, safe lair, four 6-year-old turtles soundly slept in their beds. Their father, Splinter, was searching for supplies not very far away.

6 whole years since the mutation, the fire, everything. He would need to find a way to teach the turtles to protect city would not be kind to them, despite the good he knew his sons were destined to do.

As Splinter picked through the sewers near an open manhole, a sudden crying sound snapped him from his thoughts. Curious, he cautiously climbed up to the street level to investigate. After all, who would leave a child in a storm like this?

As he looked around for the source of the noise, Splinter noticed an old, rundown warehouse with a wide open door. Cautiously stepping into the warehouse, he looked around. The place was decrepit and on the verge of collapsing, with rotten beams and failing superstructure, it was a surprise the old warehouse was still standing.

Certain he had imagined the crying, Splinter turned to leave, when a soft sniffing caught his attention. Peering under the staircase, he saw, to his complete surprise and horror, a small toddler with blond hair and bright blue eyes hugging a black kitten stuffy. Lightning illuminated her tear-streaked face.

She was tiny, and filthy, but didn't appeared injured, just scared.

The toddler looked up at the large old rat that had suddenly appeared. He didn't seem frightening or threatening, but old, gentle, friendly. She reached her arms up to him. She had been alone under the staircase, hiding from the shadows and the mean creatures for three days, wondering where her family were, wondering if anybody was going to come and protect her.

Splinter's heart broke, and he gently picked the little one up. "It's alright, child. You're safe now." He cooed to her. She nuzzled against his soft and furry chest. "I'll take care of you, and you'll have some very special brothers as well. How does that sound?"

"Bubba?" The tiny girl blabbered. Splinter smiled at her, carrying her with him to the lair, holding her on his lap as he sat on his own bed and read quietly.

The little girl clung to him, looking at the book, almost as though she were trying to read it too. Splinter chuckled quietly.

"I wonder, small one, do you have a name?" He whispered to her.

She looked up at him with her bright and curious eyes. "Uh-huh. Ming." It was the only piece of her name she could say or even remember. "I Ming."

"Hello, Ming. I'm Splinter."

"Spinna!" She giggled, nuzzling against his chest again, finally feeling safe and warm again.
