Chapter 29: The Winding Trek North! Fighting Through Sinnoh's Blizzards!

Everyone was deathly silent for a few seconds.

Ruby - "He did it…"

The girls then stared at each other.

Girls - "He did it!"

While the girls were celebrating, Michael walked over and gently picked up Espeon, then resumed walking while carrying Espeon and picked up the Ultra Ball he had caught Enamorus in.

Michael - "Welcome to the family Lady Enamorus. And I'm very proud of you Espeon."

Espeon - "Thank you Michael…"

Michael - "Rest. You've earned it."

The others watched as Michael carried over Espeon.

Michael - "To the Pokémon Center everyone. We can talk there."

Everyone, including Cogita, then slowly followed Michael out of the Ancient Retreat and to the Pokémon Center in Celestic Town. After handing Espeon over to Nurse Joy for the time being, Michael rejoined the others.

Cogita - "So what are you all gonna do now?"

Michael - "Well first we need to get Professor Rowan here back to his lab. Along with finding a way to get rid of that boulder that's blocking our way through Mt. Coronet so we can finally head for Snowpoint City. Once we reach there, some of my friends and I will challenge the gym for its badge. Then we check to make sure Lord Uxie wasn't kidnapped."

Cogita - "The lake guardians are being kidnapped?!"

Michael quickly calmed down Cogita so she didn't cause a scene.

Cogita - "Sorry. But who would actually be crazy enough to do such a thing?"

Cynthia - "Cyrus would."

Cogita - "Cyrus?"

Mars - "He's the current leader of Team Galactic. As well as my former boss."

Michael - "There's also another name that you know then by back then, wasn't there Cogita?"

Cogita - "Yes. Back during the time when Rei appeared, they were called the Galaxy Expedition Team. The Expedition Team were split into many groups. The main three are the Security, Medical, and Survey Corps. First is the Security Corps, who were led by Kamado, the ancestor of our dear Professor Rowan. Then there's the Medical Corps, who were led by Pesselle. And finally is the Survey Corps. They were led by Cyllene."

Michael - "Cynthia. Mars. Do either of you still have a photo of Cyrus to show to Cogita here?"

Mars quickly did. She then handed it to Cogita, who checked it for a few seconds before handing the pic back.

Cogita - "So Cyrus is Cyllene's descendant. And from what you all are saying. He's using Team Galactic for the wrong reasons."

Michael - "He is. The entire reason he's kidnapping the Lake Guardians is so he can make the Red Chain."

Cogita's eyes went wide.

Clair - "Something wrong Cogita?"

Cogita - "Back when Rei was around, I had him deal with getting through a trio of tasks so he could create his own Red Chain to Stop either Lord Dialga or Lord Palkia, depending on which clan leader assisted him with the tasks."

Rarity - "Who helped him?"

Cogita - "Irida. She was the Pearl Clan's leader. While Adamant was the leader of the Diamond Clan."

Michael - "So due to Irida helping Rei, Lord Palkia appeared. This the Red Chain was used on him, correct?"

Cogita - "Yes. But then after Rai had caught Lord Palkia, Lord Dialga appeared and went into his Origin Form. Along with destroying my people's Temple of Sinnoh and turning it into what is today known as the Spear Pillar."

Cynthia - "I had always wondered how that came to be."

Michael - "So what happened next?"

Cogita - "Rei and the others took what remained of the Red Chain and used it to create the Origin Ball, which is what was used to catch Lord Dialga."

Winona - "So the Space-Time rifts were sealed once both brothers were calmed down?"

Cogita - "Yes. And even I'll admit that I had also thought that's where it all ended."

Michael - "But then Volo "assisted" Rei with gathering the Plates just so he could try and use Lady Giratina to take down her mother?"

Cogita - "Yes. To think I had trusted Volo so easily, only to be a pawn in his twisted game."

Artoria - "Don't worry Cogita. If there's anyone that can stop all of this from happening, it's Michael."

Michael - "Don't you think you're giving me too much credit sis?"

Azura - "She's not wrong to be honest. Just look at everything you did to save Hoenn from Lord Deoxys."

Michael - "Point taken. But that's also the one thing too."

Fauna - "What do you mean Michael?"

Michael - "While Rei DID use the Red Chain to STOP the frenzy of Lord Palkia, and by extension Lord Dialga, Cyrus is gonna use not one, but TWO Red Chains to force Lord Dialga AND Lord Palkia to use their powers however he wants."

Kronii - "Obviously the Lake Guardians with make one Red Chain for him. But then where does the second one come in?"

Michael - "Simple. He'll make an artificial one based off of the original. He should have the technology to do just that. And what makes that fact even worst is that normally due to being the reason for the Red Chain being created, the Lake Guardians can come together to stop the Red Chain's power as well. But that only works on ONE Red Chain. The second one makes it so that Cyrus can carry out his plan to recreate the world as he sees fit."

Mars - "I was blindly loyal to Cyrus in the past as he rode to power to lead Team Galactic. But now that I think about it, he always said about making a new world for all of Team Galactic. And yet, it felt like that promise NEVER met his eyes."

Michael - "Cause he NEVER intended to keep it. His promise for a new world was for himself alone. No emotions, no willpower. A bleak, pointless world to live in if you ask me."

Everyone turned as the front doors opened, revealing AJ, Yang, and Bea walking in and over to the group.

Michael - "Boulder's gone?"

AJ - "Yep. Weirdly vanished without a trace too."

Michael raised an eyebrow at that last bit of info. But decided not to dwell on it for the time being.

Michael - "Then once Espeon's back with us, we can get moving to Snowpoint City. In the meantime… Ruby. Take my Corviknight and escort Professor Rowan back to his lab, then return here."

Ruby - "Yes sir! Leave it to us!"

Michael - "Cynthia. You, Clair, Flannery, and Whitney do the same with Cogita and escort her back to the Ancient Retreat."

Cynthia - "Of course."

Soon both Cogita and Professor Rowan, along with their escorts, left the Pokémon Center. While the others waited for Ruby, Corviknight, Cynthia, Clair, Whitney, and Flannery to return, Espeon was brought out with a bill of full health. Michael had also sent Enamorus home. Soon the others returned, then the party quickly made their way to Mt. Coronet. Upon making their way to the mountain's northern-most entrance, they spotted a familiar-looking face."

Michael - "Weiss!"

Weiss - "Michael! Everyone!"

Michael caught Weiss as she jumped into Michael's arms. The pair then spun in place a couple of times before Michael gently placed Weiss back down.

Michael - "Man. I haven't seen you since what, the day you and the others left for Sinnoh from home?"

Weiss - "Yeah it really has been that long. But it's good to see that you and everyone else is here safe and sound now."

Michael - "Same to you as well. Now before we continue any further. Primarina! Can you and your brothers come out here! Incineroar! Same for you, Delphox, Blaze, Tundra, Espeon, and Leafeon!"

Everyone watched as all ten Pokémon appeared before them.

Swampert - "You called for us Michael?"

Michael - "I have you ten out here cause we're about to go through Routes 216 and 217 on the way to Snowpoint City. I left that having you guys out would make things easier for us all. And don't worry. You all can enjoy the sights like us as well. Primarina. You, Espeon, and Leafeon will have to go into your human forms and wear some heavy clothing for this part of the trek. You three don't mind?"

Primarina - "I don't mind. And besides there's times I felt that I had more control of my powers in my human form anyway."

Espeon - "I feel the exact same way as Primarina."

Michael - "And you Leafeon?"

Leafeon - "I've never really dealt with a cold environment before. But something tells me that my human body should stand up to it better. Especially with the added layers."

Michael - "That's good to hear. Now you three get suited up."

Michael then turned back to Weiss.

Michael - "Weiss. Isn't there a massive snowstorm that goes across a good part of Route 217?"

Weiss - "Thank you for remining me about that Michael. Listen up everyone. As Michael just said, there's a very nasty blizzard that crosses over the middle of Route 217. When we make our way across it, we ALL have to stick together. So make everyone makes sure to keep out in case someone somehow breaks away from the group. Good news is there's a rest cabin before we switch from Route 216 to Route 217. We can rest there for a bit before continuing our trek."

Soon everyone was settled and suited up for the long trek across the ice cold paths of Routes 216 and 217. Along the way, Michael caught and sent home a Snover. After arriving at the halfway cabin and taking a break there, the party made sure they're supplies were good and continued on their way. But as they started going across where the blizzard was on Route 217, everyone realized that they wouldn't Snowpoint City till tomorrow. After finding a good sized clearing near a big group of trees, Michael quickly got his automated tent set up.

Michael - "Let's camp here for the night everyone. We're gonna need our strength for tomorrow."

As they all entered the tent, no one bothered to notice that a gentle pair of eyes were watching them the entire time.
