AnimeFan13579: For revived shadows changing appearance, it has been established since Hwang DongSoo revived as Greed, I mean you won't even notice the resemblance except both having humanoid bodies. For OFA, yeah the Shadow Monarch's power might've unintentionally affected the quirk. Garaki will be too busy running away like the little rat he is before he can even use those copied quirks since now that his main escape tool was taken from his hands. Kurogiri's fate remains to be seen, and yes, Nedzu will definitely do everything he can to catch Garaki. As for souls, it was…not heavily explored in My Hero Academia, so some of it was just my ideas. And…yeah, the knowledge regarding Izuku's power will have a massive impact on the heroes.
Whitemare: Yes, Shigaraki is captured. I didn't imply that he's dead in any form. Shoto is detained by the UA and UEIS after everything that happens. If he just illegally enters the raid, he will just get slapped on the wrist since what happened to him there is already enough punishment, but he is a suspect in Endeavor's attempted murder and affiliated with a future threat, so yeah he will remain detained until further notice. As for Gigantomachia, I know my choice, but a man can dream.
Daemon of Wrath: Yup, and the appearance change is always been a canon thing, as it was shown by Hwang DongSoo and Greed. Mirio and Ironcore can do more than just Divine Quarterstaff. His power allows him to create a divine light construct, Divine Light Armor and Shield for protection, Divine Quarterstaff, and Truth: Divine Spear for combat used by Ironcore he passes down the knowledge to Mirio, and then, Mirio himself creates his personal weapon, The Huntsman, and the Holy Grimoire for blessing and heal. So, yeah, Mirio is OP. And I had to admit, I did find Kuro's idea of attacking with a spear but using it like a stick is a funny idea, but given the shadows he's been with, I don't think any of them would want Kuro using the weapon in a wrong way. There's another arc before Sport Festival, and spoiler: it will introduce the Blade Guild into this fic. As for Querehsha, yes.
Outside of USJ
Everyone is silent as they watch the complete massacre of the villains. They have seen a lot of heroes fight where they come triumphant, but not to this level. It was quick and brutal, but it has the over-the-top element they see whenever heroes fight a villain.
They are still trying to process what they saw, Ochako unleashes blizzard on enemies swimming in the water with just energy the size of a droplet, Eijirou brutally knocks his enemies out, Gang Orca casually displays his telekinesis, enhanced strength, and echokinesis on enemies, Mirio beats everyone up by swinging his staff lazily and phase through their attacks, Nejire continues to hit people on the nut using her energy blast, while Amajiki unleash Cthulhu's tentacles on the villains. All of them were impressive feats, but it was quickly overshadowed by Izuku's ability to bring death back to life.
They know it wasn't a quirk, they know it was a power that was beyond human logic, and they know it was bullshit, but none of them were expecting it to be as such. They expect out-of-the-world shits, but bringing back dead creatures is not on their list of their out of the world shits.
"… Anyone's going to say anything about Midoriya's OP power?" Kaminari asks.
"What is there to say, kero?" Tsuyu says with a hint of fear in her voice. "Midoriya's power is so unnatural….."
"Are you okay, Tsu-chan?" Momo asks in concern, noticing the fear in her voice.
"….no. I'm not…" Tsuyu mutters as she watches Izuku, her pupils dilated. "I'm not okay…"
"Tsu-chan?" Momo looks concerned, unsure how to help her. She is scared and Momo doesn't know what should she say to comfort her. Everyone becomes silent as they see Tsuyu's reaction, knowing her reaction is rational. A person capable of bringing back death so easily and willing to kill someone if necessary, to people's rational minds, will fear him.
"If this fears you….then you don't want….to see other terrifying beings…" Albus decided to speak up, making everyone look at him in disbelief.
"Albus, she's scared, give her a break." Momo tries to reason with the tribe chief.
"Apologies…..but she's scared….at the wrong person…." Albus says. "Shadow Monarch…..he could've killed us all….or even ignored us…..like his fellow Monarch…..yet he saved us…."
Tsuyu didn't say anything, unsure to respond. Tokoyami sees this and lets out a sigh.
"Back in the dungeon, there are so many dead Lycans due to the war." Tokoyami decided to tell part of the incident. "He could've brought the dead and used them to kill the tribe, but he chose to revive a child's parents."
This made everyone widen their eyes in shock, none of them knew a lot about the dungeon incident from yesterday. All they know is that Midoriya defeats the dungeon and brings back a tribe from the other side as the dungeon collapses.
"He left the Lycan's buried body alone for most of the time, until the end of his fight against the Ice Elves who not only wage war against the Lycans but also other tribes that once inhabited that dungeon, slaughter them to extinction," Tokoyami said in a grim tone. "When he was trying to save the tribe and get them out of the dungeon, the tribes begged him to bring their comrades back to life as they were afraid they would be consumed and their souls would never be reincarnated. He hesitates because he refuses to disturb the peace, but reluctantly complies when the entire tribe agrees. Midoriya uses his powers to give them a second chance, is it something that you should fear?"
"…..no…" Tsuyu mutters, looking guilty.
"… Wow," Kaminari whispers in awe. "I would never expect Necromancy to be used in such ways….usually necromancers always choose to seek for more power, immortality, or even taking over the world."
"I think you have consumed too much media, Kaminari-san," Iida says while adjusting his glasses. "Perhaps, if you use that time to study, you wouldn't be complaining about how you struggle in calculus so loudly."
"H-hey!" Kaminari exclaims as he blushes in embarrassment while Mina wheezes.
"Oh, god. That's a sick burn! I didn't know Iida had it in him!" Mina exclaims as everyone seems to slowly join in. "Anyways, which one of his Shadows is your favorite? I say the little bird guy!"
"Shadow?" Sero asks in confusion.
"You know, the summoned creature Midoriya had. There's the knight, the little bird guy, the shark, the giant serpent, and the bear!" Mina exclaims while pointing at the Shadows on the screen.
"There's the Cerberus…" Albus added, making Mina gasps.
"He has more!?" Mina exclaims loudly.
"Hundreds of them…" Lucinda added.
"What is his actual limit, anyways?" Ojiro muses.
"Not sure, we didn't exactly ask." Tokoyami shrugs.
"Guys, look. They're coming back." Tooru exclaims, pointing at the screen.
Back in UA
"So….he can revive dead?"
The UA staff watched the screen in utter disbelief, unable to properly process everything that was provided. All Might had given them a brief explanation of how Midoriya's powers work, and nobody seemed to be able to believe it until they saw it themselves.
"I….know magic follows a completely different rule of physics and any sciences, but how does that even work!?" David exclaims in disbelief. "There must be a limit on how many rules magic could ignore."
"Dave….we got a quirk that bends reality by simply applying rules, do you think this is any less bizarre?" All Might says in a deadpan manner.
"… Why do you have to keep reminding me of Stars and Stripes' quirk whenever I attempt to argue about this!?" David mutters in exasperation.
"Because you seem to keep forgetting about it, or maybe you choose not to remember it." All Might calls David out, making the scientist slump down. Nedzu listens to their conversation and chooses to remain silent, sipping his tea while trying to process the entire thing slowly.
"…well, god damn, the kid's gonna be a monster in the future…" Snipe exclaims in awe.
"You said it like he's not a monster right now." Present Mic deadpanned. "Ignoring his necromancy and his undead army, the boy can move faster than the camera could've ever recorded, with the durability to shrug off a 20 kilogram worth of TNT on the head, the strength to break a human skull and immobilize that monster, and maybe elemental magic from the rock he sent flying? I think he may have more in his arsenal."
"…..it made him look like he has multiple quirks," Cementoss says.
"Except it's not!" All Might exclaims, albeit a bit too hastily. This made Nedzu snort, but since he was drinking his tea, he caused some of the tea to enter his nose and started coughing. "Trust me, we….have checked to make sure, it's all magic."
"….right…" Midnight says dully. She had a feeling All Might had a secret and it related to 'multiple quirks'. She didn't know what, but she couldn't help but be curious about it.
"….Has the kid had proper therapy?" Hound Dog muses. "With such power, he would have experience killing people…..and other fucked up shits."
"He did," Tsukauchi answered. "That, and along with his experience in Aldera." As everyone heard the last part, they all winced. All of them know Izuku's quirkless status and the incident that led Aldera to shut down, and then all of their face turns pale.
"….oh, god. We're so lucky he never goes full villainy…." Snipe mutters in utter horror as the temperature in the meeting room drops to absolute zero. Even All Might shivers in pure horror by imagining such a scenario, and he can even feel One For All tremble in his body. Such a scene was so terrifying that OFA reacted to it.
With Melissa
"Brrr!" Melissa wakes up as she feels a shiver through her spine, blinking tiredly before looking around the messy labs. She let out a yawn before wiping off the drool on her cheeks and adjusting her glasses.
"Oh, no!" Melissa exclaims before frantically pulling her laptop and groaning, pinching the bridge of her nose. "I was hoping I could see the entire process so I could see if I need improvement…."
Melissa pauses when she sees a red blinking icon at the top corner of the screen with the word 'recording' next to it. She let out a sigh of relief before sitting down on her seat, still looking exhausted. When Gang Orca requests her to make a device made of magical materials and ores, she has no idea what to do since she doesn't know a thing about magic and how to implement it in tech. Thankfully, the hero was generous enough to provide information regarding the research of magi-tech, but he claims that it was merely prototypes and theories.
To her, it was a goldmine. Thanks to the knowledge passed down by her father and her experiences in I-Academy, the greatest support school in the world, she could complete it in one sleepless night. It was taxing for her, but it was worth it. But, at the same time, some of her insecurity made her doubt that it could work. Sure, Midoriya had helped her, but it was a speech against years of self-doubt, it could take time.
"Let's see how the recording feature works…" Melissa mutters as she goes to the recording option and goes back to the very beginning. She had heard that the Big Three and the Trinity went to fight against an incoming villain group planning to attack UA, and Melissa couldn't help but worry. Sure, they are strong, but how can she not be worried? Villains aren't a joke and they didn't play by the rules, All Might had proven how he once struggled against villains because of it. So yeah, she had the right to worry.
As she watches, she feels her jaw grows heavy before it hits the floor, her glasses start to slide off her nose, and her eyes widen in disbelief. After a while, she closes down her computer while staring blankly at the blank screen.
"….I should get some rest. Staying awake for the whole night had truly taken the toll." Melissa mutters before she grabs a button and presses it to create a pillow, putting it down, and placing her head on it before she goes to sleep. She hopes that the next time she wakes up, she will not see something so bizarre.
Too bad that her wish never came true.
Also, she can't help but wonder why she feels a shiver in her spine before waking up.
Back with Izuku
"How are you, kid?" Izuku looks at the former giant Nomu, who looks a bit nervous at his current appearance.
"It's…weird." The young boy in a hulking body mutters. "I know I will one day look like Dad, but the extra muscles and the fire cloak made it weird."
"Wait, your dad looks like this?" Izuku blinks, a bit confused.
"Um, yeah. Dad was much taller and leaner than me." The boy says while scratching his snout. "I got his lizard mutation, and my quirk from mom."
"That explains so much," Izuku mutters before looking at him as a giant blue screen pops in front of Izuku. "So….what should I call you? You must have a name, right?"
"O-oh, right! Sorry," Izuku is unsure how to react to the boy's nervousness despite his appearance. He knows he shouldn't judge the book by its cover, but the appearance and personality are like night and day. "Call me Taiyo!"
"Taiyo, huh….at least the fire cloak made sense," Izuku mutters as the name is typed down on the screen.
"Huh, you're right, mister." The boy, Taiyo, brightens up as he wags his tail. Izuku blinks as he doesn't remember if the boy has a tail, or maybe it was covered by the fiery cloak. Izuku didn't question much and decided to pet the boy's head, making him smile brightly.
'I can see why the name…' Izuku thought dryly. The boy's smile is brighter than looking directly at the sun, and that says something. Izuku then heard a hiss before turning to see the humanoid cat looking at him with a look, his inky tail swishing left and right violently. Izuku blinked before he held back a snort while Taiyo looked at the cat with an oblivious expression.
"Midoriya," Izuku turns to see Gang Orca placing down a group of unconscious villains using [Ruler's Authority] before placing them down on the stretchers. "….did you kill again?"
"It's….more complicated than that," Izuku says while scratching his cheeks before Taiyo protectively shields Izuku from Gang Orca.
"Don't be mad at mister, hero!" Taiyo exclaims and Gang Orca is caught off guard by how young the shadow sounds. "I…I was brought here by the villains as a…what was it called again?"
"Bioengineered," Izuku says as Taiyo nods.
"Bioengineered creature attempts to kill All Might. M-mister saved me from becoming their puppet! He revived me because…..because I'm scared…" Taiyo whispered. "I'm scared…once I close my eyes again….It would be nothing but a dream…."
"…I'm not mad, kid." Gang Orca says with a sigh. "I merely want an explanation."
"O-oh…" Taiyo looks flustered before nodding and letting down his guard. Izuku looks at the poor boy before rubbing his head and making the boy lean into him.
"The villains are somehow capable of bio-engineered humans to be a grotesque monster with multiple quirks. I heard that they want to beat All Might, and I could probably guess they want to use him to do so." Izuku says with a sad tone. "Also, the main villain attempts to escape from us with the assistance of others, but we manage to take away their escape tools….who turns out to be another one…" Izuku finishes before looking at the Shadow Cat.
"…..This becomes much more complicated by minutes." Gang Orca muses while rubbing his temple.
"Oh, it gets worse," Izuku says with a snort. "The one responsible for this inhumane shit is a doctor named Kyudai fucking Garaki, who is also the same quirk doctor that callously destroy my dream when I was 4, Dr. Ujiko motherfucking Daruma, and the grandfather of my childhood bully, Tsubasa."
"…..what?" Gang Orca mutters after listening to Izuku's words.
"Yeah, he has multiple identities." Izuku shrugs.
"… That will help a lot," Gang Orca mutters.
"I could give a more detailed report after we meet with the rest of the UA Staff?" Izuku suggests as Gang Orca nods.
"Very well," Gang Orca stated. "Let us finish dealing with this, then we go back to UA for further discussion." Izuku nods before pausing.
"Hey, Kugo-sensei," Gang Orca pauses before looking at Izuku. "How was everyone back in HQ?"
"They seem fine. Godzillo went to Korea not long ago to discuss about future partnership with the country's Awakened Association Chairman. Mirko had been going dungeon hunting around other cities, along with some of the independent Guilds around. Crust remains in his hero duty while Edgeshot is training a new intern." Gang Orca says as Izuku blinks.
"Hero intern or Awakened Intern?" Izuku asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Awakened. The mana level she radiates based on the report is off the chart, just like you 4, or 5 if we count Tokoyami. I swear, these generations are crazy…" Gang Orca crosses his arms, muttering the last part under his breath, and earns a raised eyebrow from Izuku.
"May I know who's the intern?" Izuku decided to ask.
"Based on Edgeshot's report, her name is Mirei Amamiya. A skilled swordswoman who is on her second-year hero course in Seiai Academy."
With Edgeshot
UEIS HQ
"Wow….you're really are skilled,"
Edgeshot can be seen standing at the wooden tile of his personal dojo, slash marks can be seen around the wall and the floor while Edgeshot remains unharmed. Meanwhile, in front of Edgeshot is a girl with black hair and red eyes, wearing an oni mask covering the top half of her face, a blue haori jacket with a sailor-style collar and red ribbon tied in front, and a dark blue knee-length skirt. She's holding a katana with a decorative hilt, gold accent, and tassels hanging on it as red and black electricity crackles on the blade.
"Is that supposed to be a compliment or an insult!?" The girl asks with a scowl on her face. "I didn't even touch you!"
"Kid, I'm a pro hero who has years of experience fighting against villains daily. If I got hit by a second-year hero student, then that means I would be a bad hero." Edgeshot says while crossing his arms. "But, I wasn't trying to insult you. You truly did great! Your swordsmanship and your control over mana is truly impressive, despite being a bit….aggressive…" He added the last part while sweatdropping.
The girl merely pout before sheathes off her sword and taking off her mask as her hair turns white. As her hair fully turns, she lets out a sigh and gives Edgeshot an apologetic look, a complete contrast to her scowl earlier.
"I thought I did better…" Mirei says with a sigh.
"Don't be too hard on yourself, Amamiya. You're already impressive enough for your age." Edgeshot says while giving her a thumbs up. "Your sword technique, Kuroha Sword Technique, it's truly impressive for a girl who just reached her teenage years."
"Thank you, Edgeshot-san," Mirei says with a gentle smile, making Edgeshot sweatdrop. He still remembers the aggressiveness she displayed when she turned her hair black, and he had to admit, she was terrifying.
She's so gonna fit in with the rest of the girls in UEIS.
"O-oh, right," Mirei says with a wince. "I'm sorry for all the destruction…"
"Nah, it's okay." Edgeshot waves it off. "I did tell you to go all out. So, don't mind having some of the walls and floors scratched."
Boom!
Edgeshot and Mirei turn to see a giant wooden ceiling fall on the back, breaking the wooden floor underneath it. Mirei comically panicked and bows in apologies while Edgeshot tries to calm her down, saying that it's fine but to no avail. Meanwhile, Edgeshot's sidekicks, all either wearing ninja, samurai, or ronin-themed outfits, could only sweatdrop witnessing the scene.
One thing that all of the sidekicks agreed on, Mirei Amamiya is truly a scary girl.
Back with Izuku and Everyone
UA High
After successfully capturing and transporting the villains in USJ, Izuku and the raid team had a meeting with the rest of the UA Staff members. Despite having watched the entire scene through Melissa's groundbreaking inventions, they still lack context. So, Izuku decided to report the entire battle in detail.
It is safe to say that everyone present could only feel disturbed, disgusted, and unnerved by what Izuku told, especially the Nomu. It was an inhumane stuff anyone could've possibly ever done in real life. It didn't help that after explaining the grotesque horror it did to the souls that inhabit the body, everyone threw up all of their lunches away, even Nedzu who used to do inhumane things from his days in the laboratory.
"T-this is outrageous!" All Might exclaims in horror and anger. "For a human to do such things…. it's unforgivable!"
"This…Dr. Kyudai Garaki…." Nedzu says with a snarl. "Truly the existence of a scum of the earth!"
"Please don't insult scums by associating it with this Garaki," Midnight says in anger.
"I…..have seen scientists did many questionable things, but….not like this…" David mutters in dread.
"Well, lucky for you, I got a perfect way to get into him," Izuku says while pointing at the Shadow Cat. "Previously, he's another one of the abominations that fucking Garaki made, it can create a warp gate. Now, the soul that was the original owner of this body wishes to help to get back at the doctor, especially when he retains his powers and the coordinates of the doctor's possible locations."
"Possible locations? Not his actual location?" Hound Dog growls.
"He has three known identities, it's safe to say that he moves around much, and possibly has multiple headquarters," Izuku says. "His location before I pulled him out was at Jaku General Hospital, but he's probably escaped. I didn't go there immediately because not only the villains are still there, but I had no idea what kind of forces we were facing. Sure, I have magic, but I can't dismiss quirks, especially if the possibility of multiple creatures like those from USJ might be on the other side of the warp. Not to mention, the memories provided by the revived souls merely show flashes of Garaki's horrible experiment, not the entire details."
"Won't the cat see everything the doctor did?" Cementoss points out.
"Yeah, that's the issue. Garaki tortured the poor guy by only giving him legs and head, and he got eyesight issues after the experiments due to the lobotomy." Izuku says with a wince, making everyone squint in disgust.
"I think we can agree that we can use this as a chance to prepare," Mirio suggests before placing his hand on Izuku's shoulders. "We'll gather forces to prepare for another raid on the doctor's lab. Made sure we brought the big guns, especially if the possibility of other monsters might appear."
"We might need the strength of the top 10 heroes," Nedzu added. "For each coordinate, we'll have magic users to be our trump cards dealing with these creatures. Made sure to balance out for each location." Nedzu looks at the Trinity. "Midoriya, I'm afraid to say this but you might need to step down."
"W-what?" Izuku asks in shock. "W-why? I could've helped!"
"Yes, that is exactly why," Nedzu says, making Izuku look confused. "You have done so much for all of us, and I'm grateful for that, but I can't keep asking for your help. You have seen All Might and how his strength affects the society, we….end up becoming too reliant on our symbol of Peace, and we didn't want to make that mistake again."
"….oh," Izuku didn't know how to respond to that.
"And I think you and your team should get some well-deserved vacations." Gang Orca suggests. "With everything that happened these few days, I think you deserved it."
"….fine…" Izuku let out a sigh. "I suppose spending more time with friends and family will do. But, please be careful."
"Kid, you know we will," Gang Orca says as Izuku smiles before nodding. "Now, how about going and seeing your classmates? They probably had a lot of questions."
"….ah, shit," Izuku says in a dry tone, making everyone in the room chuckle.
[To be continued]
