The Trinity of Tokiwadai
Chapter One Hundred Twenty One: Magic God Othinus - Bait and Switch
Naru sat attentively in the conference room at Maniple HQ, alongside the task force assembled for the upcoming mission. As part of the Trinity, she was joined by her teammates, though their friends Kuroko-chan and Kazari-chan, who often helped, were absent due to the mission's international scope. Frenda-chan stood ready as the on-site runner. Accelerator sat across from her, scowling at everything, while Kashiwagi Mai-san, seated between him and Mikoto-senpai, calmly sipped tea. Mikoto-senpai fidgeted, as Rui-chan led the briefing, introducing how they would be Academy City's contribution to an upcoming large-scale international anti-Gremlin operation.
"We've just received new intel on Gremlin's activities. In response, several factions have banded together to form an Anti-Gremlin Alliance."
The Number 3 paused, glancing at each person before continuing. "The Alliance includes Academy City, the United States, Great Britain, France, Russia, Necessarius from the Anglican Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Russian Orthodox Church, and a number of independent Magic factions. Even Leivinia Birdway and her Dawn-Colored Sunlight have joined forces with them."
"Great, the mesugaki?" Accelerator asked as he rolled his eyes in frustration.
"Oh let it go, Accelerator. We can just spank her again like last time if she acts uppity." Naru assured the albino.
"You better. Still, Ruiko, what kind of intel did we get that would make so many of these choir monkeys join up with the militaries of the world and us? Aren't they usually after our heads or something?"
"You'd be right, Accel. But with an enemy this powerful, they had no choice but to unite." She waved her hand, and the presentation on the screen behind her shifted to display brief intel on each known and suspected member of Gremlin, alongside an old illustration of a spear. "The primary goal of our alliance is to stop these Magicians from using the various resources they collected, including the energy they collected from the Kīlauea eruption they induced during the Invasion of Hawaii, to construct the magical spear, Gungnir."
"That crazy thing, huh?" Kashiwagi-san grumbled, looking annoyed. "I've heard of it. It's supposed to be top tier. If there's a superweapon those Norse Magicians would go after that could pull this whole Alliance together, it makes sense that it's Gungnir."
"Exactly." Rui-chan nodded with a stern frown. "It has the potential to alter reality and poses an existential threat to both the Magic and Science sides of the world. However, even with all of us coming together, we sadly don't know the finer details of Gremlins machinations, not even where they may strike next."
"So what's this alliance planning to do about this?" Naru piped up, eying the spear's image on the screen. "What are we, this task force, going to do about it?"
"Hm, hm~ That's where our counterattack plans come in!" Rui-chan said with a touch of pride. Naru, noticing her self-satisfaction, figured she must have played a key role in drafting those plans.
Are you surprised? Kurama snorted. She's more than smart enough.
True. Naru agreed. Rui-chan's genius, even by Level 5 standards, made her a natural fit for the strategy team, and Kiyama-sensei being a Director didn't hurt either.
Oblivious to Naru's inner dialogue, Rui-chan continued, "Our goal is to strike Gremlin's base and stop Othinus from completing Gungnir."
Rui-chan began pacing back and forth, wagging a finger in the air. Naru smirked, finding it cute whenever Rui got into her plotting moods.
"To that end, we've planned a fully coordinated response." Rui continued. "The international Magic organizations and various governments will join forces, sending both magical and military units to areas where Gremlin is known to operate. The goal is to suppress their activities and disrupt their plans. Though most of these suppression attacks are actually our smokescreen for our prime target, Gremlin's hidden stronghold, the Sargasso."
Without a single gesture, the image on the screen behind the brunette shifted, displaying a satellite picture of the fortress. "We've found out they've been using the Sargasso as the central location for their big ritual for some time now. With their leader, Othinus, acting as the lynch pin of it all. We knew it was somewhere in the North Sea, but the specifics of what Gremlin is doing up there so close to Iceland, including the deeper nature of Othinus' plans, aren't clear to us at this time."
"Wait, are we," Senpai pointed out to everyone around the task force table, "supposed to help them out with the attack on this Sargasso?"
Rui-chan gave a confident nod. "We are. Alongside Kamijou-san as well. In fact, Kamijou-san is considered the centerpiece of this anti-Gremlin force. His Imagine Breaker is seen to be crucial because it has the unique ability to negate any supernatural power, whether magic or Esper abilities, making him the only one who can potentially neutralize Magic God Othinus' overwhelming magic. Without his ability, the task force wouldn't have a solid defense against the sheer scale of Othinus' power. His experience in dealing with major threats and his direct involvement with Othinus also positions him as a key figure in this fight."
"If the Hero is such a key part of the Alliance, why isn't he here?" Accelerator asked with snort.
"Ah, that's because our fellow task force members, Birdway-san and Lessar-san, volunteered to go pick him up. He will be meeting us at the airport in School District 23. The Trinity has a suborbital plane waiting to ferry all of us to wherever we need to go in the world."
Wait, both those lolis are with him? Man, Kamijou-san really draws in the younger girls, huh? Naru pondered, wondering how the heck that guy kept his strange and volatile harem in check.
Mikoto sat bundled up in her pink winter jacket and knitted cap, flying with the City's Anti-Gremlin Task Force towards the North Sea Sargasso, Gremlin's stronghold, aboard the Trinity's suborbital plane and did her best to ignore the annoying presence of the nun that idiot Kamijou had brought along. Fortunately, Kashiwagi Mai was giving him an earful for not only bringing the nun but also a maid-in-training. Mikoto found some solace in watching him get scolded as they flew towards their destination.
What drugs was he on to even think that was a good idea?!
"I cannot believe you decided to bring them. The walking little library, that makes sense even if she's more a liability then a help in a raid. But a hapless civilian?" The Incarnation of Kagutsuchi sneered in disgust at Kamijou, a faint aura of heat radiating around her as she channeled her magic. "Unbelievable."
The aforementioned civilian was a slightly older girl with long, silky dark brown hair styled into twin braids that cascaded down past her waist. Her fringe framed her delicate face, drawing attention to her bright blue eyes. Her outfit consisted of a vibrant yellow dress with long, slightly puffed sleeves that cinched at the wrists, adorned with decorative frills. Over her blouse, she wore a black apron that fit snugly over her figure, flaring slightly at the skirt's hem, which was lined with jagged black scalloped edges for added detail. A small pink bunny pin rested on her apron, adding a touch of whimsy to her attire. She wore matching black thigh-high stockings, which ended just above her knees, adding to her elegant yet playful aesthetic. Completing her outfit were yellow shoes with black bows at the toes, which perfectly complemented her overall appearance, giving her an air of charm and grace.
"Heh." Ruiko snorted whilst sending a smug smirk towards Kamijou, clearly taking pleasure at seeing him scolded. She was probably still angry at the idiot for leering at Frenda-san after the end of the hero Riot.
Kamijou, showing no regret, just shrugged! "Index is my magical expert. She's helped a lot more than she's hurt during past Incidents."
"Oh~?" Naru looked near vulpine as she smirked at him. "So why bring Kumokawa Maria along then?"
The aforementioned Kumokawa-san shifted uneasily at being addressed, drawing many an eye towards her.
"Hey hey, she asked! She said she had unfinished business with Gremlin and she can take care of herself. She proved that in Baggage City."
Well, Kamijou wasn't wrong that she could take care of herself. She might only be a Level 2, but Kumokawa Maria, according to her Bank file, was a highly skilled fighter who made the most of her ability, Violence Doughnut, which allowed her to increase the centrifugal force of her movements by 0.5 to 2 times and made her strikes far more destructive. What really set her apart, however, was her mastery of various fighting styles. Kumokawa-san was trained in Capoeira, breakdance, and pole dance, making her a versatile and highly unpredictable combatant. She seamlessly combined the dynamic movements of these disciplines to use her head, fists, elbows, knees, legs, and even her thighs as offensive weapons. Her agility and nimbleness allowed her to weave through fast attacks and move through obstacles with ease. This queer mixture of styles also made her incredibly difficult to predict, and opponents often found it hard to defend against her in close combat. Despite her low Esper level, Kumokawa-san's unique combination of skill, pragmatism, and body control made her one of the most formidable melee fighters in Academy City.
Despite knowing the truth - because if Mikoto was aware, there was no way the City's premier info broker didn't - Ruiko coldly said, "Whatever, she's your responsibility. Let's just hope you don't put too much faith in her and end up leaving her in over her head."
Damn! She's really not letting what he did after the Hero Riot go is she?
"Tch, why the hell am I in the second wave?" Accelerator grumbled in his own seat, dressed for winter and looking bored enough to take a nap. Somehow, he managed to do that while still appearing irritable, which, Mikoto noted, was an art in itself.
"Hey hey! It's tactically sound!" Naru assured the Number 1. "Us attacking Gremlin's forces while they are bogged down by our allies' conventional forces? It'll help us mop them up more easily."
"You don't think I know that, Namikaze? It's a standard hammer and anvil strat. I just don't like it. I wanted the glory of being in the first wave."
"Eh? Really, Accelerator, I didn't think you'd be so much a gloryhound~? Maybe Ruiko-chan is right to call you a knight!" Frenda-san teased from the pilot seat.
The surly Number 1 rolled his eyes, but a light blush dusted his cheeks. His lack of a denial spoke volumes.
It was really surreal how much Accelerator had mellowed out.
Ruiko, however, cleared her throat, drawing their attention."Frenda-chan, there'll be plenty of chances for glory in the second wave. Gremlin isn't weak enough to fall from the first strike alone. That's why the majority of our firepower is allocated to the second wave."
"Yeah, but how can you say most of the firepower is in the second wave?" Mikoto asked her kōhai. "Didn't the British commit two of their flying Mobile Fortresses to the battle, and they're part of the first wave? That's a crazy amount of firepower, Ruiko."
"Ah, that's true," Kashiwagi Mai agreed from her seat. "The Americans, Russians, and French are contributing a significant portion of their fleets to the battle. That's a massive amount of firepower, far surpassing the British's Queen Mermaid and Hotel Ariel ."
"Gah, the names. They sound so ridiculous," Kamijou muttered, though not quietly enough, as most of the group overheard him. "What's with the British and giving their magical superweapons such silly names?"
Ruiko was quick to shoot him a glare, no doubt remembering he existed on the plane.
With clear intention to distract Ruiko from her current Kamijou hate, Leivinia Birdway delicately added to the comments. "It is true that the second wave is where the Alliance's firepower is most concentrated."
"Oh yeah, big time. It's where Touma-san is after all." Lessar-san agreed with a nod.
"And that's important, why?" Accelerator asked with a disinterested drawl.
Birdway-san smirked, looking all too haughty for Mikoto's liking. Seriously, how could Kamijou surround himself with such brats! W-Was it the flat chests? Did he like them small?!
Cursed Bust Upper!
"Hehe, it's simple, Accelerator! Kamijou and his Imagine Breaker are essential to the attack. His right hand will be used to destroy the rare supernatural equipment Gremlin's using to forge the lance. Without him, our entire plan falls apart."
Ruiko looked poised to deliver a sharp remark but froze before a word left her lips. At the same, Birdway-san frowned and retrieved a glowing clay tablet from one of her pockets.
""What's going on?"" Mikoto and Kamijou asked together.
Mikoto couldn't help but blush at speaking at the same time as Kamijou.
Pointedly ignoring the [Imagine Breaker], Ruiko turned to Mikoto with a frown.
D-Don't judge me! Mikoto defended herself against the disapproving look that her friend shot her. I'm trying my best here too, ya know! Not all of us get two significant others like you and Naru.
"We just received intel."
Oh so she wasn't judging her. That's a relief.
Birdway-san added further. "Yes, we did and it's not good news."
Ruiko spun toward the cockpit, urgency clear in her voice. "Frenda-chan! Turn us around! We need to head back to Academy City! Now!"
"Eh? What the hell is going on, Ruiko?"
Everyone else was also shooting her questioning looks as well.
"The North Sea Sargasso is a trap. It's empty."
Gasps and looks of surprise were expressed by everyone. Well, everyone except Kashiwagi-san. Her stoic demeanor remained unaffected, as always. But that was no surprise; the Incarnation was typically a cold, emotionless husk unless she was channeling her magic.
So this entire thing was a waste of time? Mikoto thought with a frown. No. It's worse than that!
Some of their heaviest hitters were on this plane, and with the forces the Alliance had likely positioned to strike the North Sea Sargasso, a large portion of their firepower was now potentially misaligned to counter whatever move Gremlin was surely about to make. The thought that their entire strategy might have been thrown off course left her feeling uneasy.
Birdway-san scowled. "It seems that the Gremlin Magician in charge of defending the North Sea Sargasso was suspicious of his teammates and worried about a possible spy. So he created an artificial sky over the real Sargasso and faked other details that the Alliance's spy in Gremlin-"
Mikoto blinked in surprise that they'd managed to infiltrate a spy into Gremlin. She pondered for a moment and murmured. "Thor?"
The short haired blonde nodded at her before she continued.
"Might rely on to pinpoint its location, tricking him into gathering inaccurate information."
Naru groaned, rubbing her face with her mitten clad hands. "So the Alliance got tricked into attacking the wrong target. Perfect."
Kashiwagi-san was stoic as she narrowed her eyes. "That doesn't explain why we are turning around to head back towards Academy City. What happened?"
"Because the real Sargasso has appeared in Tokyo Bay." Ruiko informed them with a pensive look.
The statement shocked everyone once again. For the Academy City residents with family back home, it stirred deep, fearful worry. The uncertainty gnawed at them, anxious about their loved ones' safety. Mikoto gasped in horror as the realization hit her - it wasn't just Academy City at risk. If the real Sargasso had surfaced in Tokyo Bay, then the entire Japanese capital was under threat too, and…
"Mama lives in Tokyo!" She cried, panic gripping her.
As the noise and questions rose, Ruiko seemed to ignore them in favor of addressing Frenda-san. "How long until we get back to Tokyo?"
"With me flooring it? Five minutes!"
Mama, please, stay safe! Mikoto pleaded in her mind as they raced back to Japan.
After five tense minutes, during which Ruiko tightly gripped the armrests of her seat, the plane finally broke through into Tokyo's airspace. Every second felt agonizingly slow, the tension thick in the cabin as they approached the scene of yet another potential world-ending crisis. The weight of their late arrival gnawed at her, the thought of being outmaneuvered and caught off guard stoking a fire of frustration within her. They should have been prepared. They should have been in position. Instead, they had been duped, and it infuriated her to no end.
Her anger simmered beneath the surface as they flew over the city, her mind racing through the possibilities of what awaited them. She couldn't shake the sense of urgency pressing down on her, that nagging instinct telling her something was wrong. This wasn't just another battle. Something about this situation felt different, more dangerous, as if the very air around them was thick with impending disaster.
Then, it hit her. Ruiko's senses flared, and her head snapped to the side as she pinged on something approaching. She couldn't be certain of its power, but she presumed it was significant - whatever Gremlin had planned, it had to be dangerous. With her instincts on high alert, she focused on the incoming threat, bracing herself for what was to come.
"Frenda-chan! Land and join us as soon as possible! Accel, keep everyone safe!"
Something was coming straight from the Sargasso, heading directly toward them on an interception course!
"Ruiko?" Frenda and Accel shouted her name, their voices filled with wary curiosity. They knew her well enough to sense she was about to do something most would consider reckless. Although they trusted her abilities and knew she could handle herself, they still wanted to know what she had in mind.
Ignoring them for the moment, as much as she loved them and appreciated their concern, Ruiko focused. They were in the midst of a combat situation, and distractions were a luxury she couldn't afford.
"I'll deal with the dragon." She called out, her voice calm yet resolute. Without waiting for a response, she teleported from the plane into the evening sky.
Ruiko reappeared as dusk settled over the horizon, unwavering as the dragon bore down on her. With a steady breath, she activated her Angel Mode. Multicolored feathers unfurled from her back, forming majestic wings that shimmered like a radiant rainbow. Each feather glowed brightly, casting prismatic light across the dimming sky. Her wings, an ethereal display of power, radiated energy drawn from the surrounding AIM Fields, the core of her strength as an AIM Angel.
The beast before her had a sleek, serpentine body, its dark red scales glinting ominously in the fading evening light. Its wings, attached to its forelimbs, stretched wide, giving it both grace and power in flight. The dragon's fierce yellow eyes, snake-like in appearance, locked onto her with a predatory gaze. Its long, curved neck and narrow, angular head gave it a fearsome, almost regal presence. A whip-like tail trailed behind, adding to its streamlined and intimidating form.
Yet, Ruiko remained unfazed. She had faced far worse, both human and monstrous. This dragon, despite its fearsome appearance, was just another challenge. And frankly, not a particularly great one at that.
Surveying the serpentine dragon before her, Ruiko quickly dismissed the possibility of it being Fafnir or the Midgard serpent. Fafnir, though notorious, lacked the raw power needed for an operation of this scale, and if Gremlin was truly going all in, they would summon something far more formidable. Likewise, they wouldn't waste their efforts on summoning a mere facsimile of Jörmungandr, especially since that codename had already been claimed by one of Gremlin's members. The only logical conclusion was that this was Níðhöggr, the dragon from Norse myth said to gnaw at the roots of Yggdrasil. It made sense. It made sense; for an operation as grand as the one Gremlin was carrying out, summoning a creature of this magnitude to unleash chaos was fitting.
Her first strike came with swift precision. A barrage of AIM beams, radiating in various vibrant colors, shot from her hands and streaked across the evening sky. Each beam found its mark, piercing the dragon's hide with unerring accuracy. The creature roared in defiance as the energy seared through its flesh, but with one final, devastating blast, Ruiko sent it crashing from the sky. The dragon collapsed into crimson threads, seemingly defeated. However, Ruiko's triumph was fleeting. To her frustration, dark red threads materialized in the air where Níðhöggr had fallen. Threads that began stitching together rapidly, weaving a new iteration of the dragon from nothingness.
What kind of magic is this? She fumed, watching as another fully-formed dragon emerged from the threads. She had slain it once, and she could do it again.
And she did.
As the dragon roared in defiance, its serpentine body coiling in the air as it charged toward her, Ruiko beat her wings and sent a series of rainbow-colored crescents of AIM energy slicing through the air toward the beast. The prismatic waves cut into its flesh with lethal precision, splitting the dragon into three pieces mid-flight. Its remains disintegrated into red thread, but the victory was once more fleeting. Almost as soon as it fell, the red threads reappeared, weaving yet another iteration of the dragon.
This time, the dragon reformed directly beside her, giving Ruiko no time to prepare. Its massive claws lashed out with incredible speed, forcing her to react instantly. She summoned a pair of shimmering swords, each one glowing with the prismatic light of the AIM energy she controlled. The dragon lunged, snapping its jaws at her while its claws raked the air, aiming to tear her apart.
Ruiko spun gracefully, her wings of rainbow light giving her unmatched agility as she deflected the dragon's strikes with swift, precise movements. Each blow from the creature's claws met the sharp edge of her swords, the clash of energy against scales sending sparks of multicolored light scattering into the sky. The dragon's tail whipped toward her, but she ducked, narrowly avoiding the deadly strike, then retaliated with a slashing arc that carved a deep gash across its side.
The beast roared in fury, lunging again with both claws. Ruiko parried the first strike with one blade, the impact jolting up her arm, while with her second sword, she slashed at the creature's exposed flank. The glowing blade cut deep, but the dragon pushed forward, its ferocity relentless. Forced back, Ruiko dug in her heels, focusing the energy within her wings to propel herself upward, gaining the higher ground.
In a swift counterattack, she descended upon the dragon, blades flashing. The two swords came down simultaneously, piercing through its chest with a blinding burst of light. The dragon let out a final, guttural cry before crumbling into the blasted red threads. However, much to Ruiko's frustration, those accursed threads immediately began to swirl in the air once more, weaving together another iteration of the dragon prompting Ruiko's frustration to spike as she realized the maddening cycle was far from over.
"Where is everyone?!" Ruiko's anger flared as she fought. She understood why her allies hadn't arrived - Gremlin had likely waylaid them - but where was the military? How could Gremlin have disrupted the Japanese and City forces so thoroughly that they couldn't send a single unit to assist her as she fought over Tokyo ? The thought deepened her frustration as she continued to battle the endlessly respawning dragon.
The only other presence in the sky was a news helicopter from Nihon News Network (NNN), wisely keeping its distance. A part of her couldn't help but be irritated that she'd once again be plastered across news feeds worldwide, just like during World War 3 and the Hawaii Invasion. She could already imagine the headaches of fending off the press and mobilizing an army of bots to scour the internet, removing any unwanted images, and hacking into devices to erase pictures that had been captured but not yet uploaded online, especially those that, unfortunately, offered an inappropriate view up her skirt. As a mother, she had to protect her modesty, after all.
I really need to stop fighting in skies above cities full of people with camera phones , Ruiko lamented as her draconic opponent, fully reformed, wasted no time and lunged at her with renewed aggression. Its jaws snapped dangerously close to her, but Ruiko was ready this time. She teleported just out of reach, reappearing above the creature, her wings pulsing with vibrant energy. The dragon whipped around, its tail aiming to catch her mid-air, but she deflected it with a swipe of her blade.
"Enough of this!" Ruiko shouted, her voice ringing through the sky as she raised one of her swords up, gathering a concentrated orb of AIM energy at its tip. The dragon roared in response, its fiery breath scorching the air as it charged toward her again.
With a swing of her blade, Ruiko sent the orb shooting down with pinpoint accuracy. The sphere exploded against the dragon's chest, sending it reeling backward as energy coursed through its body. She seized the moment and charged, both swords slashing in tandem. Her strikes were so swift the dragon couldn't react in time, and her blades cut through its form like a whirlwind.
In a final, decisive move, Ruiko plunged her blades deep into the dragon's skull, releasing a burst of prismatic light from within. The dragon's form shattered, dissolving once more into the irritating red threads. As she hovered above the defeated Níðhöggr for the fourth time, Ruiko's sensory powers alerted her to another presence. Yet again, another iteration of the dragon was forming. But this time, it wasn't near her, instead it had chosen to reform near the descending suborbital plane.
"NO!" Ruiko's voice boomed through the air as she spotted the red dragon pouncing on the plane. In an instant, she teleported beside the beast, determined to intercept its attack on the plane carrying the rest of the task force. But before she could strike, the dragon unleashed a breath attack from its maw - a searing beam of crimson fire that forced her to veer off course. She swiftly raised her defenses, the prismatic glow of her wings dimming slightly as she deflected the blast, but the delay proved costly. Níðhöggr seized the opportunity, its claws raking through one of the plane's wings, tearing it apart as Ruiko watched, furious but unable to intervene in time.
Another breach opened in the side of the plane, this time caused by the team members inside as they prepared to bail out of the spiraling craft. Smoke trailed from its damaged wing as alarms blared, but each member of the City's Anti-Gremlin task force executed their escape with precision.
Mikoto-senpai was the first to take the leap, expertly deploying her parachute like a pro. It was clear she had taken her training to heart, her descent smooth and controlled, the parachute catching the air perfectly as she adjusted her position with practiced ease.
She really took the training seriously, huh? Ruiko mused, watching her graceful descent.
Accel, ever the pragmatist, used his vector manipulation to control the forces affecting his fall, adjusting his trajectory with near-superhuman precision. As Frenda-chan deployed her parachute with sharp efficiency, he bent the winds to his will, ensuring they stayed close together. Trusting in Accel's control, they descended through the thick, smoke-filled air, with Accel making certain they would land in the same place.
Birdway-san, Lessar-san, and Kumokawa-san followed, jumping out of the plane and activating their parachutes as soon as they were clear of the crashing plane with surprising skill. Birdway-san and Lessar-san's expertise wasn't shocking - both were in the fractious Magic Side, so it was expected they would be proficient in such dangerous situations. Kumokawa-san, however, was a different story. Her skill with the parachute was impressive, almost too perfect.
Her training must be more complete than I thought. Ruiko noted, a flicker of surprise crossing her mind.
Index-san and Kamijou-san, predictably, were the least graceful of the group. Hesitant and visibly nervous, they both stumbled into their jumps, fumbling with the equipment as they fell.
I hope they land okay. Ruiko thought with a hint of amusement, before adding. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Kamijou embarrass himself a little.
Despite her anger toward him, she didn't wish him harm - not truly, anyway.
Next to get off their doomed plane was Kashiwagi-san, who if the distortions in the higher dimensions centered around the crashing plane that Ruiko had detected were any indication, had teleported off. An escape that was accompanied by a fiery explosion that tore yet another hole in the crashing jet. Last but not least, likely to ensure everyone else got off safely, Naru teleported off, her passage likewise picked up by Ruiko sensing her passage through the higher dimensions.
Good. Everyone is safe. Ruiko thought with relief. This and the few strands of her attention she used to watch her comrades' jumps and follow their progress only took up a tiny fraction of her computational power, a larger portion of her thoughts simmered with anger. Despite this, the majority of her focus stayed locked on the dragon and the battle ahead, her wings poised and ready for whatever came next.
"You dare?!" Ruiko's furious roar echoed through the air. Her eyes blazed with rainbow light, and energy surged into her hands, as she combined the energies contained in her swords and coalesced it into a brilliant, prismatic lance. With a swift motion, she flew above the dragon, her wings of multicolored feathers radiating power as she hovered. In one fluid strike, she plunged the energy lance downward, piercing the dragon's form. An explosion of light followed, obliterating the beast in a single, devastating attack.
She barely had time to relish the victory before she jumped into action. With a mighty flap of her angelic wings, Ruiko darted through the air, aiming to catch those who couldn't land safely from the falling plane. But before she could reach them, she was intercepted - yet again - by another Níðhöggr, its dark red form materializing out of thin air.
"I am sick of you cookie-cutter dragons!" She shouted, charging straight toward the massive flying lizard, ready to tear it apart once more.
Done and done! Thanks to Nameless as always!
Short and sweet, or rather, short and violent! But then again, this is a major part of battle, so its bound to be violent. We got angel powers, we got dragon spawning, we got angst! It's all here and ready to blow so enjoy it!
Nameless: A nice short little opening chapter to what is a climactic arc for the Toaruverse. Whether that'll be the case for TOT like the World War 3 arc was remains to be seen. I can promise you that we'll keep it as action packed as possible though. Hope you guys will stick with us to see what we came up with for the TOT version of the Magic God Othinus arc.
