Hello to all, this is Chapter 29 of the fifth and final Arc of Volume 6: Pain and Hatred!
Intro: The Earth... is a great place where humanity and all other creatures live and learn to evolve little by little, but this great world has Darkness in it too. Evil beings who wish to conquer this world and everyone.
Only one being stood against them to show everyone the power of light and hope, but this great mythical dragon wasn't able to stop them. He gave his powers and hope to a human that was known by his name, the Dragon Knight!
Before this hero also met his end, he gave the legendary Dragon Sword and his hopes and dreams to the next knight, his youngest son who is destined to become a legend by the sides of his comrades and his love. This hero... is the Dragon Knight of Light!

Volume 6: Chapter 29: Attack of the Akatsuki Part 5! The Battle of Pain!
In the previous episode of DKR:
Even though Team Dragon Knight survived their battle against Aizen and his forces, their fight was far from over as Shadow Knight revealed Konoha had been destroyed by the Akatsuki Leader, Pain, who had been searching for Naruto. Enraged as he felt blame for this, Naruto headed out to recharge Sage Mode and then reached Konoha. Yugi prepared to go with him but Kojan stopped him, refusing to do any more favors for them to settle their fight. Noticing his obsession, Yugi has no choice as Shadow Knight sends a small group of those in Team Dragon Knight that can still fight to assist Naruto as the others are taken back to their homes while he leads Yugi, Kojan and another smaller group for the knights' fight.
While Eggman offered Zero a chance for the two of them to get what they want, Akumu had his conversation with his father, King Darkness the Overlord, who informed him of someone messing with something they shouldn't, being his other child, and wants it dealt with. Assuming who it is being Aigami, Akumu vowed to deal with the pest after he arranged his deal with Grimmjow.
Judai's group arrived to their dismay the destroyed, wasteland ruins of Konoha and the one who committed the deed, Pain. Demanding where Naruto is, the so-called God gets his wish as Naruto arrives with all the reinforcement he got from his toad comrades.
Will Naruto and the others be able to overcome the man that killed Jiraiya? Will his Sage Mode be able to challenge Pain's coldness resolve?
And now the conclusion... last left off:
Judai and the group stare down at Pain who isn't even looking at them but Naruto.
"So that's Pain.'' Alicia mutters while Ruby gulps, tightening her grip on her scythe.
Taichi is about to ask why he's called that until suddenly 5 more drop down beside the so-called God, each one resembling him in earrings, orange hair and the same overlapping, multiple circular purple eyes.
"Pains…'' Yang comments, finding it off calling them that.
''All six of them have assembled.'' The purple grape hair-like toad, Shima, proclaims with unease as Fukasaku agrees.
Judai looks behind at the rubber that was Konoha, sensing the fleeting lives, the dead… the barely living. He reflects when he was the tyrant, Haou, that brought such destruction to any that opposed his rule. So much regret, so much he can't take back but right now… just finding redemption and fighting for the world. That's why he finds nothing but disgust that others would do this and not see the mistake they make.
''You would destroy Konoha to find our friend!'' Clenching his fists, Judai demands seriously at Pain who narrows his gazes towards him and corrects him, spreading his arms to his side. ''No. This was the kindness of a God who brings peace to the world.''
This only enrages the hero duelist, activating his Duel Disk to fight him. Suddenly, Tsunade leaps onto the field, breathing heavily and badly damaged. She expresses her own disgust, the unspeakable despair in her chest to see her home reduced to this and the lives of so many taken away: Ninja or not.
''I am the Fifth Hokage and I can't forgive you for destroying my home and all the lives lost!'' She yells out enraged, going to fight him regardless of her damaged state. Pain now stares at her and looks uninterested as this is what he wanted to give her: pain.
''How naïve.'' The Deva Path begins to say out loud as the Asura Path comes charging like a rocket towards Tsunade, extending his arms that become sharp bladed weapons. ''My business is…''
''WITH ME!'' Moving instantly off Gamakichi with such speed, Naruto yells out as he slams upon the Asura Path and dismantles the path with a single Rasengan, destroying it. The rest of Team RWBY are taken back by such movement and power that Naruto now wields, especially Blake who finds him rather… awesome.
Tsunade is also taken back, confusing him with Jiraiya and the Fourth Hokage. Deva Pain narrows his eyes while his pupils dilate again, uttering out. ''Naruto Uzumaki.''
Gritting his teeth, Naruto yells out in a vow. ''Let's settle this!'' He then ensures Tsunade leaves this to him and the others. Not given a choice as she needs to heal everyone she can, Tsunade hands Naruto a part of Katsuyu to help him with intel.
''Is Kakashi-sensei on a mission away from the village?'' Naruto, rather calm yet somber, asks Tsunade if Kakashi isn't here… and yet he knows the answer since he was supposed to be with Mustang for whatever they had in plan against Aizen.
Tsunade just frowns, unable to answer him. A dreaded sensation comes across most of the others, realizing he's dead and Naruto of them all knows it... and it hurts.
''… I see.'' Naruto utters out, understanding as he sounds crushed. Blake frowns a bit, not imagining the pain he's going through right now. He breathes before he shouts. ''Go, Gamakichi!''
The younger toad grabs Tsunade and leaps away. Each Pain quickly gets into a formation just as the female Pain performs the summon of a massive rhino, charging right at Naruto who immediately grabs onto its large horn and as he's being pushed forward, stops it all together with his superior strength. Grabbing tighter on the horn, Naruto proceeds to move his arm up high and flings the massive rhino up high into the air.
Both sage frogs perform a combination of a Frog Song, immobilizing the other two summons the Animal Path brought out and allowing Naruto to create two Shadow Clones who slam the stunned summons with Sage Art: Massive Rasengan. The impact explodes and launches both creatures up into the air.
As the giant toads fight the damaged Pain summonings, Naruto engages the Preta Path who evades his kicks and punches but so does he as one touch and this Pain will absorb his Chakra.
''FROG KUMITE!'' Naruto yells in his thoughts, evading the punch of the Preta Path as he swings his own but he evades it… only to suddenly be flying away like he was hit by something and drags across the ground until stopping, completely dead.
''A-awesome.'' Yang comments, taken back by how easily Naruto disposes of those threats and his strength is insane. Blake remains silent though her eyes are shaken.
Deva Pain, not showing any concern, is confused by the attack that took down his Path. He knew he dodged and yet it still connected and killed him. That Sage Mode is a nuisance.
''Nice one, Naruto!'' Alicia shouts, smiling with Weiss commenting. ''Is this really the same person?''
Judai smirks as he summons Neos Knight who charges at the other Pain summons, slashing down a crab one as the chameleon turns invisible. Weiss responds back, twirling the revolver part of her sword and fires shots of Ice Dusts around where the summon was, raining down like snow. This reveals the monster as Ruby takes long range shots with the Crescent Rose's sniper mode followed by Blake dashing in and slashing the thing with multiple slashes from her blades, cutting it down.
Fukasaku then warns Naruto of his Sage Mode time limit and unlike Nnoitra; Naruto plans to finish this as fast as possible.
''No time to waste here! I'll finish this with my strongest Jutsu!'' Naruto declares, crossing his fingers and creates 2 Shadow Clones as they begin forming their Jutsu. The others watch as sharp sound is heard from the forming of this technique.
''But that's-'' Blake begins to utter, recognizing this from the time they fought. So he intends to finish this fast.
''I see…'' Pain begins to conclude, finally recognizing this power back in the Rain Village in his fight against Jiraiya. ''So you have become a Sage, mastering the same Jutsu like Jiraiya-sensei.''
''Jiraiya-sensei?'' Naruto utters out in confusion. Pain, confirming he has no clue, reveals he was once Jiraiya's student, thus in a way they are brothers of the same master. This shocks everyone by this revelation, something that Yugi didn't warn them about.
Pain then mocks the peace Jiraiya wanted as nothing more than fantasy. However, he believes in the idea of peace but the peace that will end this cycle and teach everyone of pain. And to do so, Naruto must surrender so he can finally capture the Nine-Tails under his control.
''Our master desired peace-'' Pain begins to proclaim only for Naruto to yell out, holding now on the completed Rasenshuriken. ''Shut the hell up!''
The two frogs are shocked by this technique, never seeing it before or even teaching Naruto that but the others know it all too well.
''Already with the Rasenshuriken?!'' Ichigo utters out, surprised Naruto is that enraged to use that technique now.
''Rasenshuriken?'' Both frogs utter in puzzlement with Ruby telling them with a small grin. ''It's his ace-in-the-hole! It'll work.''
Judai hopes as Naruto becomes more enraged, shouting at all the destruction and deaths that he's caused to his world.
''You call all this peace? The death of so many, the capture of many Jinchuriki…'' He begins yelling furiously, losing more and more of his patience. ''THE DEATH OF OUR MASTER! WHERE'S THE 'PEACE' IN THAT?!''
''You're only looking at the tree, not the whole forest.'' Pain begins preaching that Naruto doesn't understand the world beyond this village. ''You don't know the true meaning of peace. I-''
''I told you TO SHUT THE HELL UP!'' Hearing enough, Naruto throws the Rasenshuriken right at him, surprising all the Path. The large energy shuriken moves fast to reach the targets of 3 Pains, including the Deva… until they all move swiftly but not enough. Naruto focuses and the Rasenshuriken expands larger, catching the Human Path and explodes with such force, vaporizing that path as a mere torso.
The female Pain, in the air, immediately summon the giant bird, ramming downward at Naruto who easily leaps over it and dodged its massive beak attack
''Deidara was right. He does not listen.'' The Deva Pain utters out loud by his dead Akatsuki member's remark on the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki. Naruto lands, gazing firmly at the Deva Path.
As that was going on, the others were actually struggling with the summons, especially the dog as any attack Neos, Kurosaki, Alicia, even Yang's strikes only cause the thing to multiply into more and more.
''You mean we hit the mutt more, he multiples that much more?!'' Weiss questions in shock by this insane death bringing dog.
The main Pain notes that Naruto is slowing down as his Sage Chakra is running out.
The Animal Path prepares for another summon until dust consumes the area, created by Shima. Then a massive THUD and darkness consumes that pain, being swallowed by the thrown Gamabunta by Fukasaku. That Pain looks around at the darkness until she's assaulted by Naruto who's inside the massive toad before she is struck down by Naruto's Rasengan Barrage.
Smoke leaking from the toad, Gamabunta opens his mouth and rolls down his tongue, exiting the dead Path and Naruto who is out of Sage Mode.
''You've exhausted your Sage Mode.'' The Deva Path proclaims as he comes at him until he's forced to perform an upward flip, evading Neos' charging punch.
''You still forget we outnumber you!'' Judai shouts as the summons all poof away and Kurosaki and Alicia come at him. The Deva Path quickly evades their swings, struggling even though he can move easily; he's not sure if he can keep up with them. He summons his black rods to combat the two, only smacking him away just as Fukakasu performs a Summoning Technique and it is for a Naruto clone. He poofs away as Naruto regains Sage Mode.
Using this distraction as he creates 2 Shadow Clones, Naruto forms another Rasenshuriken and takes aim while Alicia fires Blue Flame and Kurosaki swings a Getsuga Tensho at Pain; forcing the Deva Path to dodge them barely but now in range for Naruto's surprise finishing attack.
''All right! Your mine!'' Naruto shouts, throwing the Rasenshuriken instantly as the Deva Path doesn't look. It seems to be over until another figure intercepts and extends his arms, absorbing the energy shuriken-shaped Jutsu.
''W-what the…'' Naruto utters in shock, not by his attack being absorbed but the one doing so is the Preta Path, alive.
Ruby sees this and freaks out as does Tacihi yelling out in complete shock. ''H-HE'S ALIVE AGAIN?!''
''Don't say Zombie!'' Weiss yells at her, trying to be calm in the hopes that it's not an undead.
Kurosaki and Alicia back away fast, regrouping beside Naruto and his clones.
''I thought you had him?!'' Ichigo questions him, thinking the punch that Naruto gave him got him.
''We did.'' One of the Naruto clones speaks up as another said. ''He was winded out of life. He shouldn't have survived.''
''Maybe he pretended to go down?'' Ruby questions Alicia finding that off. ''To drop our guards? I kinda-''
''Guys.'' Judai interrupts their chat as he points to the corner. They turn to that direction and widen their eyes to see a giant demon head that the Naraka Path was standing beside.
''The hell is that thing?'' Kurosaki questions, actually unease looking at the thing. The head opens up its massive, wide demonic mouth. They also watch as the Asura, Human and Animal Paths emerge from them, all of them healed and alive. This shocks everyone with Katsuyu explaining the Pain from afar must be a Key Player.
Alicia just remembers something that Yugi mentioned when fighting Pain and also when Kojan fought him too. She doesn't waste time explaining this to the others. ''Yugi said one of those Pains, the one away from the others, can possibly bring back the others that died. Guess that's true.''
Naruto growls madly, now realizing the formation Pain did.
''So we have a summoner of dangerous animals…'' Taichi comments with Alicia adding. ''One that his whole body is a weapon of any kind…''
''One that rips souls.'' Judai then says from the warning Yugi told them of the long haired Pain with Kurosaki adding. ''One that absorbs attacks.''
''One that can revive the others.'' Naruto proclaims still mad with Ruby listing the last Pain. ''And the last one that repels any attacks-'' She then blinks, recalling from both Yugi and Ichigo that the main Pain has crazy repelling powers but he hasn't done any of them. ''Wait, he hasn't done much right?''
This gets everyone to realize the same. Katsuyu states that Pain blew Konoha away with the power that the dark-red huntress was saying. This causes the group to realize that the main Pain is likely in a long recharge time to fully use his powers again.
''Then that means-'' Taichi begins stating that their best chance to win this fight is taking down that Pain quickly.
''Naruto, charge up your energy. We'll give you an opening.'' Kurosaki orders him, turning to raise his blade forward. Alicia agrees, moving her shield forward and her lance too. Naruto nods, focusing on gathering a bit of natural energy to charge up his Sage Mode.
Pain glares at them, now concluding that they know of his current state and each of his Paths. He must get rid of them and capture the Kyuubi now.
Kurosaki and Alicia charge forward towards the Deva path but the Animal Path gets in their way, slamming her hand down.
''SUMMONING TECHNIQUE!'' She shouts, summoning the demonic dog, the giant bird and the chameleon.
The massive bird shrieks, coming at them with its massive beak which Kurosaki intercepts with a swing of his jet black blade coated in Getsuga Tensho, blasting it upward. Alicia defends with her shield against the long tongue strikes from the camouflaged chameleon and its massive long tongue while Ruby and the other girls are forced to defend against the rabid giant dog without hitting it or it will just multiply.
''BAD DOGGY!'' Yang yells at the mutt, trying to bite her off but she's forced to leap over it while the giant frogs are still dealing with the summoned spiky panda and giant ox. Gamaken apologies for being worthless and that as long as the summoning Pain is around, the dog is too.
''Then we need to take out the summoner or-'' Blake begins to conclude, still evading the mutt's assaults until Alicia hears enough and shouts at Ruby and her friends, still defending against her invisible foe. ''SWITCH!''
Hearing this, Team RWBY dashes towards Alicia who times it and leaps past them towards the large mad dog.
''BLUE FLAME!'' Her lance engulfed in flames, Alicia aims and fires a burst of intense particle flames right at the giant dog, consuming it and evaporates it.
This surprises Ruby and the other girls, all of them blinking awkwardly before they say in awe. ''Or that!''
Now they deal with the chameleon with Blake and Weiss firing rapid Dust bullets at the ground below, quickly exposing the fast Chameleon as it's then slashed and punched by a combination of Ruby and Yang, destroying the thing.
The female Pain summons the massive rhino again along with the gigantic crab. Taichi watches, turning to Agumon who needs a moment before he feels somewhat recovered.
''Taichi, I'm ready!'' The yellow dinosaur mon shouts out. Taichi smiles as he holds his Digivice and shouts. ''Go, Agumon!'' His device begins to glow orange as Agumon charges forward, now glowing too.
''AGUMON, EVOLVE!'' He shouts out, morphing and expanding till it fully evolves into its T-Rex Champion form. ''GREYMON!'' He headbutts against the rhino, pushing it back as he catches both of the carbs' massive claws swinging at him. The dinosaur mon growls, pushing it back.
Taichi notices how tired Greymon looks just fighting. He's been pushing it for a while and more than certain this is his last steam of strength. Even going Ultimate would be careless. No choice but to settle things fast, Taichi commands his partner. ''Hit fast and hard, Greymon!''
''Leave it to me!'' Greymon responds, roaring as his horn erupts in flames and charges right at the carb. ''FIRE HORN!'' The flaming horn strikes through the carb's chest, burning it up before it dissolves and poofs away.
''Wrath of Neos Slash!'' Judai joins in as Neos Knight comes swinging twice with its blade, cutting through the rhino's defenses as Greymon charges and swings his tail around. ''TAIL CRUSH!'' He smacks the massive rhino with one hit as it poofs away too.
The giant bird is left, coming downward at them while Judai summons Flame Wingman for this.
''BIT FIRE!'' Greymon shouts, shooting out multiple fireballs as Judai commands his hero. ''Flame Shoot!'' Flame Wingman fires a burst of flames from his dragon arm. The spread of flames eventually hits the diving bird and consumes it in those same flames before it too poofs away.
''SUMMONING-'' The Animal Path tries to make another summon until she's suddenly pushed from the back by Weiss' Glyphs, pulling her forward towards the charging Yang, slamming powerful shotgun punch that explodes and blasts the Path through the glyphs and hits the ground, dead.
With no more summons, Kurosaki now charges at the energy sucking Pain as he grips his blade all while his Hollow Mask manifests on its own.
''OI, ABSORB THIS!'' He begins to yell out, raising his blade over his head while swirls of black-red spiritual energy as it spirals around him.
''GETSUGA TENSHO!'' Shouting loudly with a distorted voice, Ichigo swings and fires a powerful large crescent energy wave towards that Pain who extends his arms and catches the wave. The Preta Path tries absorbing it, however; his back suddenly explodes of the pressuring mass of Spiritual Energy as the wave consumes and he's blasted away with one half of his body completely eradicated.
Kurosaki lands in front of what remains of that Path until he's sneaked attack by the Human Path, grabbing him and attempts to rip-
''Having trouble?'' He then widens his eyes at Kurosaki's comment as he can't pull off a soul if the Substitute Shinigami is literally a soul… and also a bullet was shot through that Path followed by his arms shredded apart by a blade. Both Ruby and Blake's attacks killed the path, dropping dead.
Now with less Paths to worry about, Kurosaki yells at Naruto still charging up. ''Do it now, Naruto!''
Naruto opens his eyes, fully charged as he forms two Shadow Clones. The clones throw smoke bombs underneath them, concealing themselves while the Naraka Path prepares to revive the fallen comrades with the Asura Path collecting bodies or body parts with his 6 arms.
''SAGE ART…'' Naruto begins uttering out, creating another Rasenshuriken. Detecting this attack will be too much, the Asura Path drops the other Paths and dashes right towards the Deva Path, already distancing himself from this until Judai shouts. ''Neos, intercept!''
Neos Knight dives down and nearly slashes the Deva Path if he didn't see it coming from the Asura Path's view and backflips, evading the mighty sword strike.
Using this chance, Naruto throws his energy shuriken projectile attack through the dense smoke at the Deva Path. However, it's the Asura Path in the way as his head literally opens up, revealing a machine-like laser beam that fires a crimson blast against the Rasenshuriken, clashing with it before vaporizing it. However-
''RASENSHURIKEN!'' The Asura Path looks up and widens its eyes as a second large energy shuriken is thrown through the smoke. It was a Shadow Clone that he- His train of thought is interrupted as its shield bash by both Neos Knight and Alicia.
''GO!'' Ruby shouts cheerfully as the Rasenshuriken soars right to the important Pain, about to finally settle this fight and end it. But before the attack can touch the Deva Path, Pain feels his power finally restored and immediately releases a burst of Shinra Tensei, repelling and vaporizing the attack to everyone's dismay.
''W-what just happened?!'' Naruto utters out in dismay, thinking he had him only for Pain to gladly answer firmly. ''My powers have finally returned.''
This was bad for them as now they have to deal with this Pain's abilities.
''It's not over!'' That Naruto declares as he poofs into smoke, surprising the Pains.
''SAGE ART: RASENGAN BARRAGE!'' Looking up, the Naraka Path widens his eyes as he's immediately slammed downward by the enhanced, double-handed Rasengan the real Naruto hit him with, pinning him into the ground. The Deva Path turns to see his fellow Path, killed while Naruto smirks, using the Rasenshuriken as a double distraction for the real one to take down the far ended Pain.
"Without your healer, you got 4 down!'' Naruto declares, standing up with a smirk. The Deva Pain gazes at him, having underestimated him but still calm on his victory.
''You miscounted…'' Pain begins to correct him as the Asura Path prepares to fire its arm missiles at Naruto.
''GREAT ANTLER!'' One of the Asura Path's faces turns and the Path leaps up over Greymon, charging in head first at him.
''Futile.'' Deva Pain proclaims as suddenly Greymon turns around and swings his claw at the Asura Path who forms a large blade and clashes against his claws which pushes the Path away.
The Asura Path still grins as it's thrusted into the air, changing his right arm as a massive blaster. It begins charging up energy for a devastating blast… until a precious shot from Ruby's sniper gun shots, an Electric Dust Bullet, through its barrel and discharge pierces through the morphed arm. Weiss follows her lead, twirling the revolver-like guard of her rapier and takes aim, firing off Fire, Electric and Ice Dust Bullets, hitting across the Asura Path's body; stunning him just as Greymon fully charges up flames in its mouth.
''MEGA FLAME!'' Greymon roars, breathing out a large fireball that consumes the stunned Asura Path, exploding and burning away.
The Deva Path watches firmly as the remains of the charred Asura Path crashes onto the ground.
''Now you're down to 5!'' Taichi proclaims with a smile.
Pain looks around as the group surrounds him.
''This is where you're finished!'' Judai declares as Naruto and his Shadow Clone form a Wind enhanced Rasengan, glaring madly at Pain and can only see the death of his master. He won't forgive him.
''This is for Ero-Sennin!'' Naruto shouts, charging forward as Kurosaki, Alicia, Neos Knight, Greymon and Team RWBY.
''WIND RELEASE: RASENGAN!'' Naruto shouts, thrusting his enhanced energy sphere forward.
''FLAME-'' Alicia begins to shout, engulfing her lance in blue flames while Kurosaki prepares to swing as his blade engulfs in spiritual energy. ''GETSUGA-''
Ruby prepares to swing her scythe as do Weiss, Blake and Yang's attacks.
Pain doesn't look at them, standing there calmly as he utters out calmly as they are just inches from him. ''Now you will witness the difference in your powers to a God.'' His pupils dilated; he then claps his arms and immediately spreads them apart, shouting. ''SHINRA TENSEI!''
Suddenly all their attacks are interrupted and blocked by an invisible forcefield-like attack. They all grunt, pushing forward but the Shinra Tensei easily blasts them all away while dissolving their attacks as well as tearing open the ground that Pain stood on. Neos Knight is destroyed as Greymon crashes and skids across the rocky ground. The others held their ground but the force of this attack was way too strong. Ruby and the other girls, however, crash and roll across the ground. They each panted as the Deva Path stands there, unfazed.
''What was that?!'' Yang begins yelling, not even sure how to explain that. Katsuyu then explains the core Pain has regained his powers, likely forced to recharge them after the attack that destroyed Konoha.
Naruto scoffs, concluding. ''So that means physical and long ranged attacks won't work.''
Ruby takes aim and fires a sniper shot at the Pain's head but he dodges it with ease, not even looking.
''WHA?!'' Ruby gasps in horror as Weiss fires multiple bullets at him. Pain also evades the shot as he somersaults around the superfast charging punch of Yang with Blaze Semblance activated. Blake joins in, using her Shadow Semblance as each of her shadow copies charge and swing at Pain who, even in mid-air, evades around the swings.
''We can still land a hit. It's just one-'' Weiss begins to tell the others that they can still land a hit just as Gamabunta swings downward at Pain who leaps up and in range of the other toads. They prepare to attack Pain until he uses another Shinra Tensei, blasting the toads far away with such force that they're sent flying away from the destroyed Konoha.
The girls and Taichi along with Greymon are horrified with Ruby yelling out in distress. ''HE JUST BLASTED THE GIANT FROGS-''
''Toads.'' Judai corrects her, only causing the huntress to yelp louder. ''TOADS AWAY!''
Naruto glares firmly as Pain descends slowly, almost floating as he lands on the ground.
''You are indeed strong. All of you.'' Pain announces, acknowledging the group's strength. ''However…'' As his pupils dilated; he reaches out his right arm forward as it begins to morph into a cannon-like barrel to everyone's shock.
''H-his arm just-'' Naruto starts to utter until the transformed fires a powerful golden beam, shooting out with such force towards the group and explodes with such speed.
In their secure hideaway, Nagato begins coughing heavily to Konan's worries.
''Nagato, so you're using what Madara did.'' She utters, worried as she knew this would happen.
Before the invasion of Konoha, Nagato had a conversation with 'Madara' about the confrontation he had with both Dragon Knights.
''You were lucky those were the fake clones than the real ones or else Kojan would have killed your Paths, Nagato.'' He lectured rather amused on how they decided to just let Jutsu create the fake copies of others to hopefully put down the Dragon Knight. It backfired but it worked well.
Konan frowned at his attitude but Nagato admits that the Uchiha, Kojan, wasn't what he expected. He was similar to Itachi, an actual threat.
''Just in case you engaged the Kyuubi along with the Dragon Knight and his comrades; I have a fix.'' The masked man proclaimed, pulling out a strange bottle lamp.
''A bottle?'' The red haired man questions, staring at the thing and could feel an unease power emitting from it.
'Madara' explained it, still very amused. ''One I asked the Dark Lord to make for me in exchange for our 'alliance'. What's inside is a ghost, Desiree.''
Konan recalled that he engaged 3 of these Ghosts when Konoha was invaded by the supernatural. She is curious where the other 2 are.
''Seems she can grant wishes. Useful to us.'' He explained as Obito had to get to know this spirit by peeling into her mind with his Sharingan. An easy feat. He learned of her powers, their upper limits, their issues and how to control her through the lamp. Now could be a good time to test those upper limits.
''As a test, Nagato, wish that the Deva Path can gain the powers of the other Paths as a final resort and make your connection to each Path as strong if not better than in the Rain Village.'' He instructed Nagato to use the power of the lamp in his possession. This surprised him but Konan immediately protested heavily. ''But that's too dangerous! The only reason Nagato can control each Pain is due to his connection with the Rain Village and even if such a wish could help us; the first one is far too risky. It could damage Nagato's remaining nerve system and-''
Fully aware of the risk but not caring as Nagato's life will become pointless, 'Madara' interrupted as he said. ''Once Nagato is done capturing the Kyuubi, I will let him grant a wish to restore his body back at his prime.''
''… And Yahiko?'' Nagato, not even battering at his body, asked for his friend. Konan looked down, knowing how unbearable he must be feeling after all those years. If there was a way, a chance… to see Yahiko again; they both would take it.
''He'll be revived.'' Obito lied to them, aware that Desiree is unable to do such wishes. Nagato stared upon him, a part of him knowing he will never see his friend again… but it doesn't change anything. What he promised him is so he becomes the savior of the world and that is what he will do.
''… I'll do it for him, for true peace.'' He answered with a strong gaze from his Rinnegan eyes. The one visible Sharingan eye from Obito's mask narrowed with amusement. That's what he wanted to hear.
Deva Pain's arm reverts back, breathing out heavily as this is strange. Even the body of Yahiko doesn't like what that spell grants. He looks and startles as the group is shielded by Greymon, grunting as he stumbles on the ground.
''Greymon!'' Taichi yells, rushing to his aid to push him but he just grunts, too damaged.
Pain then begins to form hand seals as he slams his hand down to the ground and shouts. ''Summoning Technique.'' A burst of smoke erupts before him and running out is the demonic dog again as it immediately splits into 3.
''Not the dogs!'' Ruby yells out in horror as the mutts try to bite her, Weiss and Blake but they leak away as they all get slashed by Kurosaki's blade. However, that only created 3 more of them to his annoyance.
The Deva Path tries to perform another hand seal but suddenly gasps out blood, realizing he can only perform 1 summoning at a time.
Kurosaki and Naruto bashes the dogs in one spot as Alicia fires a Blue Flame, vaporizing all 6 of them. She pants until she is suddenly grabbed by the chest by Pain. He begins trying to rip Alicia's soul but staggers as she's resisting. He grunts, realizing this is another drawback.
''LEAVE MY FRIEND ALONE!'' Naruto roars, charging at him but Judai warns him with doubt. "Wait, Naruto!"
Pain turns and blasts Alicia away instead with Shinra Tensei, not caring about her but him.
''Time to capture you, Kyuubi.'' He proclaims, extending his right hand towards the charging Naruto.
Commercial Break:
''BANSHO TENIN!'' Pain shouts as Naruto freezes up and he's suddenly pulled at full force towards Pain as he grabs him by the neck, squeezing his grip on him.
''It's over, Kyuubi. No need to resist. I won't kill you.'' Pain ensures Naruto, gazing firmly. ''You are my precious Jinchuriki.''
Naruto growls as he's still in Sage Mode, declaring determinedly. ''Don't underestimate my Sage Mode!'' He suddenly panics, realizing he's losing power and not realizing the Deva Path is using the Preta Path's absorption power. He feels his Sage Chakra leaving him as he begins losing strength.
''Naruto!'' Judai shouts as Kurosaki flies at him as does Ruby dashing forward. Pain raises his other arm, morphing it into a rocket launcher and firing missiles at them as the group dodges evades them as they explode onto them, blowing them away.
Naruto can't do much as his Sage Mode fades away.
''Capture of the Nine-Tails, accomplished.'' Pain proclaims, securing the capture.
The others watch, Kurosaki and Alicia grunting as those missiles have strange metal rods that stab into them. They feel heavy like an unknown force is pinning them in place.
Judai was protected by Flame Wingman that sadly was destroyed. Things look really bad.
''You don't… have me… yet.'' Pain narrows his gaze at Naruto, gasping as he's not beaten. Pain looks at him, commenting. ''Quite tenacious, aren't you?''
Naruto thinks of something and soon begins to calm down, relaxing his body. Pain notices this and proclaims calmly. ''So you've finally resigned yourself.'' He suddenly widens his eyes, looking at his arm grabbing onto his neck is slowly becoming more toad-like and petrifying his body. Alarmed, he disarms that arm off his body and pulls away as that arm becomes pure stone.
''W-what just happened?'' Ruby questions as Naruto breathes heavily but smirks. Being still allowed him to gather Natural energy and let that energy enter into Pain due to his ability, slowly turning him into a stone toad if things continued. He should remember that.
Pain gasps in shock, down an arm. He has no choice as he summons the King of Hell and leaps inside of its mouth. The massive demonic mouth chews down rapidly before opening its mouth and Deva Path emerges out, fully healed with a new arm. However, blood slips from his mouth as the King of Hell vanishes, being strained to his real body.
''Sage Jutsu Chakra has its risks, after all.'' Pain comments, not expecting how dangerous it is.
Naruto just smirks as he's just a distraction. Fukasaku and Shima are ready for their Genjutsu… until Pain senses them and recalls this happening to him against Jiraiya. He raises his arm and uses Bansho Tenin to pull the green old toad and stabs him through with his rod. This shocks everyone, including Naruto who shouts furiously. ''BASTARD!''
Clapping his arms together, Pain calmly declares. ''SHINRA TENSEI.'' He spreads his arms and as he does, he fires black rods that hit everyone, pushing and pinning them to the ground.
''Everyone!'' Naruto shouts in horror as he's suddenly pulled by Bansho Tenin towards Pain. He grabs him by the neck again but this time slams him downward with such force. Pain then manifests another black rod and thrusts it in between both hands, stabbing them and pinning him in place. Naruto panics as he's suddenly overwhelmed by a strange sensation, keeping his body in place. Not just him but everyone else too.
''T-the hell is with these rods…'' Kurosaki comments, struggling to move as does Alicia.
''C-can't move…'' Blake utters as Yang can't even break free as her Semblance isn't working. ''D-damn it…''
Pain knees down to Naruto and asks him, gazing down at him. ''Has this tamed you a little, Kyuubi?''
Naruto can only glare furiously, frustrated at his position as it just reminds him of all the destruction he caused his village, his home and lives lost.
''What are you?!'' He demands enraged at the calm Pain. ''Just what do you want?! Why are you doing all of this?!''
The Akatsuki looks at him, just looking at another naïve child before he says. ''Things always happen without warning.''
Pain decides this is a good time to talk, explaining his ideals to break this teenager. He goes to say even if this talk changes nothing to the stubbornness of the Jinchuriki; he doesn't care as his goal is the same Jiraiya failed to achieve; a world of peace and justice. Naruto, however…
''My master! My sensei! My friends! My village!'' Beginning to speak of everyone that was both lost or hurt through Pain's actions, Naruto begins yelling in agony and fury. ''After everything you've done, don't you dare talk about peace and justice!''
''Then tell me what your goal is?'' Pain questions what he wants at the end of the day. Naruto snaps, screaming out loud. ''I'm gonna kill you! And bring back peace to the Ninja World!''
Pain accepts that, expressing that's a nice goal… however…
''My friends… My village...'' He then begins listing those he too lost, Pain proclaims everything that was taken from him. ''They suffered the same fate as this village, by you Konoha Ninjas.''
He then enlightens how big Konoha and the Land of Fire have grown too big, resulting in leaving smaller villages from their borders to suffer the aftermath of constant battles, war and rogue ninjas taking advantage of those smaller villages for their self-interest. And that was what happened to the Rain Village, he reveals, watching war-after-war that his home was rendered into rubber if not scourged down.
"You and I seek the same thing.'' Pain proclaims, understanding full well that they only wish to establish the dream their sensei had, the dream of a peaceful world even though they do so in their own sense of 'justice'.
He then expresses the dread of losing things one loves as he also experienced. ''The pain of losing something dear to you is the same.'' As he follows that to how it's that pain that humans can only communicate back at one and another, causing more suffering and despair. ''We know what the past has been and we can predict what the future will be. That is history as we know it.'' He glares almost madly, reflecting on Yahiko's death and all that he lost due to this world and its people who never cared for or wished to understand each other. ''So we cannot help but believe that human beings are incapable of understanding each other. The world of ninja is ruled by hatred.''
Naruto has a moment to reflect the time Jiraiya explains of the world around him and the endless hatred among all lands through his journey and self-experience.
''How would you confront this hatred, in order to create peace?'' Pain then questions his early statement of his goal, wondering if he even understands how impossible such naïve peace can happen. ''I want to hear your answer.''
Naruto looks down defeated, remembering his own loneliness, his own pain being a Jinchuriki and the bottled hatred he had at times for this existence… as well as his inability to reach out to Sasuke. He… he truly doesn't know and it's written all over his face.
''… I don't have an answer to something like that.'' He speaks up, defeated. Judai frowns while Kurosaki grunts angrily that Pain would stoop that down. Alicia also frowns, wondering about true peace. If not for Metal Sonic and Yugi and the others arriving in her country to help them; would the war between Gallia and the Empire continue? Would more losses and hate build up? She understands it's not easy to achieve peace but she also knows the value of a simple dream like that and why Pain mocking such dreams is not right.
Pain expected as much as he speaks of his answer: Collecting the Tailed Beasts through the Akatsuki, capturing and imprisoning them and creating a Tailed Beast Weapon, capable of destroying nations after nations. And through this disaster, the world will know pain and they will be in constant fear, ending the pointlessness of war.
''I created the Akatsuki for the very purpose of stopping the chain of hatred.'' Pain proclaims, spreading his arms. Even though he lost those members of his organizations; their deaths will not be in vain for the peace he will cast upon this cruel world.
Naruto finds that insane, believing that is false peace but Pain heavily disagrees. ''It will no longer be a deterrent and humanity will begin to battle once more.''
Pain- rather Nagato from his hideout, expresses the new cycle to counter the cycle of hatred; a cycle of pain to create a momentary peace through destruction and fear.
''T-that's…'' Ruby starts uttering, having a face of uneasiness. What kind of human being would cause the world to suffer to maintain a false peace? Blake gazes at the Akatsuki leader, reminded of… Adam, or rather the man that is currently Adam.
Even Taichi finds this guy nuts as humans can understand each other. He's lived it with his friends and their Digimon, knowing that connecting with others is a bond that can transcend even hate. He eyes his Digivice, wishing right now he can get Greymon to go Ultimate no less Mega, if he could, but he can't even move to do any of that.
Pain then questions Naruto of his argument of his vision of peace being false while he has no answer of his own peace. A hypocrite, being kind at best to the naïve youth; Pain sees his vision as true as the cursed world they live now. That is nothing more fictional than a world where people can understand each other.
''Wrong!'' Pain turns his gaze halfway to Judai's direction, trying to move even though his body refuses. He's seen what world Pain wanted… he made a similar one when he was Haou and all it did is cost the lives of more. He doesn't want that, he wants a world that people are bound to, connected to something as small as hope like when he reached out to his friends when Darkness had trapped him in his "perfect" world. ''Such a world can come true when people can understand each other! Even by a small piece of something hopeful, that is what peace can be!''
Naruto agrees, believing the same as Jiraiya would. Pain, however, has heard enough, manifesting another black rod to capture Naruto and use the power of the Nine-Tails to finish his goal.
''Like I said, your death will lead to peace.'' Pain declares as he proceeds to stab Naruto across his whole body with black rods he keeps manifesting, ensuring he wouldn't move.
Shima tries to encourage Naruto to not give up because he is the Child of Prophecy but Pain blasts her away.
''THAT'S ENOUGH!'' Alicia, struggling with all of her strength, raises her lance, trembling, and fires a blast of Blue Flame at him… only for Pain to repel the flames with his power.
''I only required the Kyuubi. The rest of you will die here.'' Pain then says, manifesting another black rod and raises his left hand until a voice shouts out. ''Stop it!'' He stops and turns as leaping down is Hinata, glaring strongly.
''Hinata-chan! Awesome, nice timing! So you brought-'' Judai begins expressing, happy of her arrival, thinking everyone else will arrive to help them out… only for Alicia to notice that's not the case. ''No…''
No one else arrived as the Hyuga Princess raised her arms forward, readying her Gentle Fist against the Akatsuki leader. This shocks everyone with Ichigo yelling at her stupidity. ''IDIOT, WHY ARE YOU HERE ALL ALONE?!''
''Because…'' Uttering out softly at first, Hinata puts up a brave expression as she'll fight for the person she loves. ''I won't let him hurt Naruto-kun anymore!''
Naruto even argues with her, knowing full well Hinata can't win… but she protests as now it's her turn to save him. Not shy but filled with confidence, she expresses that she's always seen Naruto do amazing stuff, helping others and becoming a better person every day. How she wanted to be like him- no, to catch up to him and be as brave as him. If not for him; she wouldn't be the person she is now. That he changed her, made her believe in herself, that his smile saved her… even if she dies; she will protect him…
''Because I love you, Naruto-kun.'' Smiling softly, Hinata finally speaks her heart which leaves Naruto stunned, not even sure how to feel but… it was something he wanted Sakura to tell him and it makes him… feel warm.
Ruby blushes red, barely knowing her but can't help but feel joy for Naruto. Judai smiles, happy that he was right… and Danny owes him a lunch when they survive today.
''Love huh?'' Kurosaki comments, wondering about that himself as the back of his mind of Orihime's screams when he was dead. Alicia just smiles weakly, making her try to pull off the rods off her. She can't let a love like that die, Welkin, as a bug nerd that he is, would fight for that too. Taichi is the same as Sora would yell at him not doing anything.
Pain, however, just scoffs as he spreads his arms and shouts. ''SHINRA TENSEI.'' He releases his unseen forcefield, blasting not just Hinata back but everyone else, launching them far away.
''WWAAA!'' Ruby and the others yell out, blasted away towards the debris of Konoha. Only Judai remains in his spot, protected by Winged Kuriboh in the last second, watching as Hinata, also managed to stand her ground, comes charging. She isn't aiming to attack Pain but instead breaks a few rods off Naruto's body. Realizing her aim, Pain launches her away with his telekinesis, not bothering to use the other abilities.
Hinata crashes head first but she gets up, bleeding but not defeated. Focusing her Chakra into her arms, she manifests lion-like chakra heads around her arms.
''GENTLE FIST: TWIN LION FISTS!'' She shouts, charging right at Pain. However, Deva Pain is stronger with this superior body, dodging her attacks with no problem as he prepares to use the Preta Path to absorb her Chakra- until he stops due to Nagato's own body failing him to maintain control.
This gave Hinata the chance to strike his chance and blasts him away. She gasps heavily as she turns and comes at the pinned Naruto to break off more rods off his body, only a few left… until she's blasted by a restored Pain, launching her into the air all while Naruto watches with an expression of horror.
''HINATA!'' He yells out as Hinata falls onto the ground hard, grunting in pain. Judai watches this angrily, not able to stand around and do nothing.
''Yubel… get me out of this now.'' He orders his partner as Yubel manifests her arms, pulling off the rods off him. ''Already doing it.''
Judai continues watching in panic as Hinata is stumbling forward, trying to pull herself together through sheer willpower to free Naruto. She's literally dragging herself to his aid, refusing to give up on the person who inspired her to never give up.
''I don't understand.'' Pain questions this illogical approach the woman is doing. ''Why would someone weak like you try to resist?'' He still glares as Hinata refuses to back down, still crawling forward and tries to remove another rod only for Pain to blast her away. ''Why fight me? Knowing… that you will die?''
Grunting in pain, Hinata stands up weakly and just smiles softly, responding. ''Because… that's my Ninja Way.''
Pain gazes, not understanding-
''Heh, that's also love to you.'' Pain turns his sight towards Judai, smirking before he becomes serious while getting up on one knee. ''Someone like you can't see that they have a bond that you mocked: Connecting to others.''
''… I see.'' Pain proclaims as he extends his arm towards Hinata without looking and moves it up and she's thrown up into the air. Both Judai and Naruto widen his eyes in terror as Pain lowers that same arm and with a mighty force, Hinata's body crashes onto the ground. They're stunned as Pain walks into the dust of the impact he threw Hinata into and as he manifests a rod, he stabs her from the ground.
Judai is left stunned, slowly scowling angrily.
''H-How could you…'' He begins to tell him madly only for Pain to interrupt, proclaiming. ''It was the same. My parents were killed before my very eyes by ninjas from the Hidden Leaf. It's justice.''
''… It's not justice.'' Pain narrows his eyes as Judai fully stands up as his eyes are glowing a golden light from them. His power of the Supreme King repels the rods off him, becoming more enraged like he hasn't felt not since Brron.
''Causing pain to others from your own experience is not true peace…''Judai begins to say, glazing madly. ''It's your own damn satisfaction to make others to suffer!''
''…'' Pain stares silently with a glare. Judai holds forward his Duel Disk arm, beginning to declare strongly. ''I will not for-'' Suddenly the world around them shakes violently, quaking the world around them. Judai widens his eyes and utters in horror. ''Oh f**k.''
Pain doesn't understand that until he turns around to look at Naruto and his eyes widen before calming down. The power of the Kyuubi erupts across his body before he fully snaps and roars.
''Yes… know pain.'' Pain proclaims calmly as the burst of dark-red Chakra consumes Naruto, destroying his sage cloak before he transforms into his Fourth Tailed Version 2.
Pain watches as he asks him. ''Do you hate me?''
The berserk Naruto simply roars furiously, his power exploding even more. Judai really wishes that Yugi was here to revert this because he has a bad feeling things won't end well.

Naruto's hatred has been unleashed, about to bring destruction as Judai and the others reach out. Thanks to an unlikely person, Naruto is prepared to fight Pain and fulfill the Child of Prophecy. Will it be pain and fear that the world will follow… or?
Judai panics to see the Fourth Tailed Naruto again: Great, not again.
Taichi: W-what even happened to him?
Ruby is actually terrified this will happen again with Naruto now.
Alicia: Deja-vu.
Kurosaki: What can we do against that? Can we reach him?

Author's Note: Just another retell of a canon event, this time with Naruto involving his biggest fight against one of his biggest foes.
So the Six Paths of Pain are rather… stronger like as if they're in the Rain Village? Answer: Desiree. I'll explain this in a bit.
I had to check and yea, I didn't. So I never talked about if the Preta Path could absorb any attack. No; in Naruto canon, it can only absorb Chakra or Chakra related moves. So no, Preta Path can't absorb Spiritual Energy or heat energy attacks like Alicia's flames. However, for DKR… EH… sort of? A Rinnegan user could absorb such attacks if they understand them UP TO a limit. In fact, even then, not so much as the results are death like Nature/Sage Chakra. Like in Volume 5 when Yugi fired a Dragonaun Tengoku to take down the Deva Path but the Preta Path got in the way to absorb the attack only for the attack to devour him instead. So HAHA, no energy absorption for you, Pain! So what about later users like Obito, Madara and Sasuke? EH… I'll talk about them next time but since the three are aware, mastered or know of different powers (yes, spoiler, Madara did confront a Draconic user), then if they're just as skillful; they might be able to absorb those attacks… MAYBE. I am still unsure. I don't want to create a freaking Boruto situation. I REALLY DON'T. So I doubt it. Besides, they'll still be OP. What do you guys think?
Another topic most don't talk about: Desiree's powers. She's a ghost genie who can grant any wish like how Sam wished that Danny never became part ghost… though I always saw her powers were weird. It worked but Sam kept her memories and after those episodes, things were clearly back to normal. Was time reset? Were events reset? Because Danny was still Public Enemy #1 from Walker's action and Vlad clearly kept his memories too. And it did make Desiree stronger but she still lost and her power reset? WHAT? And there hasn't been another innocent since it seems her magic can backfire like it did WAY before this episode when Tucker wished for powers and that backfired HARD on him.
So why am I having her sealed up in a bottle and Obito has her? Simple; she's still useful. So what should her upper limits be? Simply: Nothing godly like "Gather all the Tailed Beasts" or "the Dream World". Another, not bring back the dead. Her limits should be simple like grant powers but with a limit and not temporarily. What about the time- Headcanon theory: That was a forget spell? It makes the most sense. So her magic is limited but it still gave the Deva Path a limited version of all the other Paths' powers to him. You could say a preview to what's to come with Reanimated Nagato in the War Arc.
Luckily Naruto isn't alone in this fight and manages to take down the much stronger Paths… well all except the one.
And this buff Deva Path is well yea, a buff but also nerf version of Reanimated Nagato which you'll all see next chapter.
