Suck on This

Eve
It's late Friday evening and I've just finished up in the lab. I'm walking into the squad room to place my findings on Boyds desk for him to read on Monday morning when I notice the light is still on in his office. So, the man is working late – again.
It really shouldn't surprise me. Detective Superintendent Peter Boyd is a workaholic. A big workaholic. And Grace is not far behind, either.
As Im crossing the floor of the squad room, I hear both their voices. I don't see them because the blinds are closed, but Boyd's office door is ajar. I catch Graces soft voice mumble something before I once again hear the deep baritone of our leader.
"Come on, Grace. I know you want to."
"I said no, Boyd." There is a soft laugh in Graces voice.
My feet slow before I find myself at a standstill outside his office, wondering if I should just wait until Monday to give him the report or not. Then the deep voice becomes even deeper, and the words make me freeze.
"Oh, Grace. Just suck it. I know you want to. I can see in your eyes how much you want to put it in your mouth and suck it."
Did he just say what I think he said?!
I feel my cheeks burn as I imagine what the two older team members are up to alone in his office this late in the evening. The visions running through my mind will be so difficult to erase. And even if the rumour mill claims they have been at it for years, it has only been rumours.
True, that's also what I thought when I first met them. They have a way of being together that I've never seen with other colleagues. I bet they can start and finish each others sentences. And thoughts as well. At least, Grace knows what goes on inside Boyds head. Not so sure if that goes both ways.
"Boyd, I won't suck it. Not even if you beg," I hear Grace retort. I can hear the mirth in her voice so clearly. Just as clearly as I hear the sultriness in Boyds response.
"I wont beg, Grace, but I will win you over."
"Oh, Peter."
I can almost see the so-familiar smile on her face as she looks at him with those blue eyes of hers.
"Grace, come on. Just one go, and I'll stop pestering you about it," his deep baritone promises her. "Youve done it before," he continues, his tone playful. "And you seemed to enjoy it."
I blink, knowing my eyes will be huge in my face. What the hell is going on in there?!
"Fine, give it to me," she concedes after a few moments of silence. My eyes nearly pop out of my head at the images that are now flying through my overactive mind. Surely they cant possibly be doing what I think they're doing?!
Im about to turn round and leave as silently as I came when Graces next words stop me.
"Fine, I have to agree with you. The cherry is better than the orange."
Cherry? Orange?
I cant stop myself from moving right up to Boyds office door and pushing it further open, my eyes taking in the two people inside.
Boyd is seated on his couch, legs stretched out in front of him and crossed at the ankles, his hands behind his head in a very relaxed pose. Grace is seated in the chair in front of his desk. There is no way they could have managed to reposition themselves that fast, or even re-dress that fast, if they'd been up to what I believed they'd been up to.
So, what the hell was all that talk about 'sucking' about?!
Then, as I walk into the office, hazel eyes and blue eyes meeting mine, I notice that it seems like Grace has something in her mouth. Upon seeing me, she pulls the thing from her mouth with a soft pop, and I notice two things;
Its a lollipop, red and white, which explains the comment about cherry, I guess.
The man sitting relaxed on the couch shifts ever so slightly, his gaze darkening with a subtle but unmistakable intensity as he watches what Grace does.
Interesting.
"Eve?" he enquires as they both look at me, now standing right inside the door. "Ever heard of knocking?"
"Sorry," I breathe out. "Didn't think you were here," I quickly lie. "Just here to put this on your desk then Im heading home." I walk across the room and place the file in his in-tray before I turn around and return to the door. "Have a nice evening, you two. Don't do anything I probably would do."
Jesus, why did I say that?
"Like what, Eve?"
I can hear the amusement in Boyd's voice, and I turn around to face them. Grace has put the lollipop back in her mouth. Cherry is obviously for her, then. She looks up at me, a mischievous smile pulling at her mouth.
"You knew I was out there, didnt you?" I suddenly realise, feeling myself blush.
"Boyd has impeccable hearing," Grace points out, leaving the lollipop in her mouth, pushing it into one of her cheeks while she speaks. "We just decided to have a little bit of fun with you."
"And if it had been anyone else?" I ask. "I mean, comments like those would feed the rumour mill for months, even years to come."
"Harmless fun," Boyd says. "And the rumour mill already has a lot to say about us as it is. Does it seem to have stopped us from doing the job we are assigned to do?"
No, it hasn't. But it does kind of bother me that they both seem so relaxed about it. Grace, I know, would ignore any rumour about her if she herself knows it to be untrue. Boyd… Im so used to his abrupt reactions, his anger issues, that I find it strange that he would let some of the rumours about them to go unchallenged.
Which makes me wonder if some of the rumours might actually be true.
"No," I mumble, my thoughts already locked on the fact that I now believe them to be somehow involved with each other. Outside of the office. "Well, enjoy your lollipop, Grace, and the rest of your evening. See you both on Monday morning."
And with that, and a slight smirk on my lips, I turn around and leave.
I did catch the all-too brief glance that was exchanged between them before I turned around. They knew I didn't mean the actual lollipop currently in Graces mouth.
Their secret is safe with me. Im not the sort of person to go around spreading gossip about my colleagues. I might overhear people talking in the corridors and out in the car park, but Im really not interested enough to be the one spreading rumours about other people.
As I leave Boyds office and walk across the squad room towards the exit, I can hear Graces voice telling Boyd that I know about them. What surprises me is his response.
"I know she does. Shes known since we hired her," he tells her. "At least she's suspected, and not just because of the rumours." I hear him sigh heavily. "She wont tell anyone, Grace. Shes your friend, isn't she?"
Yes, I do consider Grace to be my friend, and I would never do anything to cause her trouble or heartache. Besides, what those two do in their free time, outside this building, is really none of my business. None of anyones business, really.
But as I leave, heading home for the weekend, I cant help but smirk a little at the thought of the Great Leader and the Units matriarch actually being together.
Good for them! They both need whatever happiness they can find.
And if that's in each others arms, who am I to judge?

Grace
I notice the darkened eyes that watch me as I suck on the cherry lollipop. What started out as a harmless joke at Eves expense has obviously backfired. His hazel eyes are now filled with lust and want.
Slowly, I swirl the head of the lollipop inside my mouth before I pull it out with a soft, wet pop. If possible, his eyes grow even darker, and the tip of his tongue comes out to wet his lips. "Well, I think its time to call it a night," I murmur as I get up from the chair, throwing the rest of the lollipop in the bin. "It's Friday, and past nine oclock. Im heading home."
Boyd doesn't answer as I walk out into the squad room to find my coat and bag. But by the time I've put the coat on and Im heading towards the stairs that will ultimately lead me up and out of the building, he's right next to me, offering me his arm.
He walks me to my car, opening the door for me, ever the gentleman. I look up at him, and I know he catches the mischievous smile on my face. "So," I say, leaning casually against the vehicle, "Are we shagging ourselves senseless tonight as the rumours would suggest, Peter?"
He freezes for a second, caught off guard by my directness. Something that actually surprises me, because he should be accustomed to it by now. But then, the corner of his mouth twitches into a grin, and he takes a step closer to me. "Well, that depends."
I raise an eyebrow. "On what?"
"On whether you consider last night… and the night before… and the night before that… as 'senseless'." His voice is low, playful, and his eyes are locked on mine.
My lips curl into a smile I cant suppress. "Id say it was… quite sensible. Maybe even a bit too sensible." I tilt my head, giving him that teasing look that I know drives him wild. "But then again, I didn't hear you complaining."
Boyd chuckles, leaning closer, his voice dropping to a soft murmur as he brushes a strand of hair behind my ear. The feel of his skin against mine, even as innocent as this, makes me burn with want. "Oh, believe me, Im not complaining, Grace."
I laugh quietly, stepping a little closer to him. "If we keep this up, someones bound to catch us. And they wont keep quiet about it like Eve will."
He smirks. "Maybe we should be more careful."
I know my eyes sparkle with mischief as I place my hand lightly on his chest. "Or maybe we should give them something to really talk about?"
He raises an eyebrow. Hes intrigued. "Is that a challenge, Doctor Foley?"
I smile softly, leaning in just enough to make his pulse race. "Maybe."
His hand slips to the small of my back, pulling me a little closer. "Well, for the record… I have no complaints about our 'outside-of-office' activities."
I lean in and whisper in his ear, "Neither do I."
For a brief moment, its just the two of us in the quiet car park, the world around us fading as we stand here, locked in this intimate, playful dance that has been going on far longer than anyone at the office could know.
When he steps back, it is with a satisfying grin painted on his face. "Get in the car, Grace," he orders me. "Lets get home and start the weekend. I want to kiss you, want to taste that cherry lollipop on your lips when I do."
I look up at him, shivering slightly at his words. "Your place or mine?"
He doesn't even think about it. "Yours."
"See you at home," I murmur before he closes the car door. He turns around to walk the few feet to his own vehicle. I don't wait to watch him get into his car. We will leave separately, seemingly driving to our respective homes. But I know he will be following right behind me.
And if he behaves well tonight, I might actually entertain the fantasies I know went through his head when I sucked on that lollipop he gave me earlier.
Maybe.
