Chapter 6 Training

Note: I really wanted to put songs, but I'm not very good at music. But I promise to put some. (Or if you want you can imagine a song that matches the moment you're reading.)
Chapter 6 Training
(Morning.)
Megumin wakes up, gets out of bed and goes into the living room to find Aqua lying on the sofa.
"Good morning, Aqua..." Megumin rubs her eyes, still a little sleepy.
"Good morning, Megumin!" Aqua gets up from the sofa and greets her. "If you want to eat, Haruka made fish cakes."
Megumin nods and goes into the kitchen to get some dumplings that are on a plate. Megumin hears some noises in the yard, goes to the window and opens it, Megumin sees Kazuma and Haruka fighting while Darkness watches them.
Kazuma and Haruka are wearing white T-shirts to improve their mobility and the flow of air through their bodies.
Kazuma attacks Haruka with his sword, Haruka defends with his arms causing sparks to fly as he blocks the cuts.
"You've improved a lot in combat!" Haruka exclaims as she breathes heavily.
"Coming from you, it's almost an offense..." Kazuma mocks Haruka's face as he raises his sword.
Darkness watches the two battle. Kazuma attacking while Haruka defends and counterattacks, Megumin approaches Darkness watching the fight.
"What are they doing?" Megumin asks as she takes a bite of her dumpling.
"Kazuma wanted to improve his combat skills, so Haruka volunteered to train with him, because Haruka wanted to test something." Darkness says as he watches the battle with all his attention.
The two watch the fight, Haruka defends the cut and punches Kazuma in the stomach. Kazuma walks backwards holding his stomach.
"Do you want to stop for a while?" Haruka breathes heavily as he relaxes his body.
"That's bad... I think I'd better stop here..." Kazuma sits on the floor holding his stomach as he moans in a little pain.
Haruka approaches Kazuma and sits down next to him.
"So that's why Haruka's arms seem to be darker?" Megumin asks Darkness.
"Well, he didn't explain it properly, but we can ask." Darkness replies and starts walking towards the boys.
The boys are panting from their training, sitting on the ground and resting.
"You did very well, but you still need to control your attacks." Haruka pats Kazuma on the back.
"Thanks... but I really wish I had extraordinary power." Kazuma removes his hand from his stomach, feeling the pain begin to fade.
The girls approach the boys. Darkness hands the boys a glass of water.
"Thanks..." Kazuma takes the glass and drinks the water.
"Thanks a lot, Darkness." Haruka takes the glass and drinks his water, feeling more relaxed.
"Hey Haruka, I was curious. Why are your arms darker?" Megumin asks, looking at Haruka's arms, which seem to be darker with a slight armor on them.
"Oh!" Haruka realizes that Megumin didn't know. "That's because I'm trying to channel my power without needing my Driver."
"But isn't that what it's for? So you can fight with your powers." Megumin bows her head in confusion.
"Actually, yes, but I want to learn it for an emergency when I'm away from my Driver." Haruka lifts a finger in explanation with a slight smile on her face.
"I think I understand..." Megumin puts a hand to her chin thoughtfully.
PAUSE
Megumin and Darkness have gone back inside the mansion. Kazuma and Haruka are lying on the grass looking up at the sky, they seem quite relaxed.
"Even, Kazuma, what was your life like before you came to this world?" Haruka asks while continuing to look at the sky.
"Ahhhh..." Kazuma sighs. "How can I tell you?" Kazuma mutters to himself.
"I was practically an otaku, who always stayed locked up at home. And I didn't have any friends..." Kazuma speaks with a melancholy tone in his voice.
Haruka gets up, taking a seat next to Kazuma and holding out his hand.
"Well, you may have been all that, but you're not a bad person. So how about I be your first friend?" Haruka pokes him with her right eye.
"Really?..." Kazuma stands up looking very surprised.
"Of course! I've really enjoyed going on these adventures with you, and I want to stay with all of you until the end." Haruka smiles.
"Thanks, man..." Kazuma shakes Haruka's hand and gives his friend a smile.
PAUSE
Kazuma and Haruka are in the guild trying to choose a mission. Kazuma frowns, not liking the missions.
"There's nothing but crap on this quest board!" Kazuma lets out a sigh.
"How about this one? Take an egg from a Giant Albatross." Haruka takes the poster and shows it to Kazuma.
"It's kind of interesting, but don't you think it would be too difficult?" Kazuma worries, but he soon sees the reward. "350,000 for an egg?!"
"Sounds like a good reward then!" Haruka smiles. "Shall we accept?"
"If it's just an egg, then let's go for it!" Kazuma shouts excitedly.
The boys go to Luna and register the mission.
(Mission started.)
(Take a Giant Albatross egg.)
"All right, your mission is logged." Luna nods to the boys. "The Giant Albatross is north of here and its nest can be either on the ground or on a mountain."
"I wouldn't recommend fighting it, but since Haruka is going along..." Luna looks at Haruka, remembering the outcome of the last mission. "Well, to get the egg I recommend acting stealthily."
"Adventurers don't usually accept this kind of mission, but..." Luna tries to speak, but is interrupted by Kazuma.
"Don't worry Luna, it's just an Albatross, what could go wrong?" Kazuma mocked, looking unconcerned.
"Don't worry, Luna. We can manage." Haruka says to the girl.
The boys start walking towards the exit.
"Okay, now we just have to call the girls!" Haruka nods with her hands on her hips.
"Yeah, let's go get them." Kazuma and Haruka leave the guild and walk towards the mansion.
PAUSE
"Sorry, I have some personal business to attend to." Darkness says, scratching his cheek in embarrassment.
"I'm not going, I'm going to stay here and relax!" Aqua lies down on the sofa, uninterested in the mission.
"I'm not going, have you ever smelled those things?" says Megumin, not wanting to go at all.
The boys are incredulous at the girls' reaction. But they end up accepting.
"Okay, I guess it's just you and me..." Haruka says, looking at Kazuma.
"I don't believe it... bunch of lazy girls!" Kazuma grunts angrily, but accepts the girls' answers.
The boys go to their rooms to prepare their equipment, Haruka finishes before Kazuma, he goes to the Junglaider climbs on top of it and goes to the front of the mansion. Haruka stands in front of the mansion on top of the Junglaider waiting for Kazuma. Kazuma approaches Haruka ready to go.
"All set?" Kazuma walks up to Haruka with a large backpack on his back.
"All set, get up there!" Haruka points to the seat of the Junglaider.
Kazuma climbs into the Junglaider behind Haruka, holding onto Haruka's shoulders so he doesn't fall when he starts walking.
"By the way, shouldn't we be wearing helmets?" Kazuma asks confused.
"What for? We're crazy!" Haruka shouts, starts up the bike, revs it up and rides off while Kazuma screams for his life.
The two of them are passing through a forest, Kazuma is shaking nervously, holding on tightly to Haruka's shoulders so that he doesn't fall off the bike. Haruka dodges several rocks and trees, Kazuma is very nervous about the movement of the bike, he begins to pray in his mind that he will survive this.
Haruka stops the bike, causing Kazuma to slam into his back from the stop.
"We're here, that didn't take long." Haruka and Kazuma get off the bike, Haruka notices Kazuma breathing heavily. "What's wrong?"
"You're still asking?!" Kazuma shouts indignantly. "I thought I was going to die on this trip..." Kazuma puts his hand on his chest, feeling his heart slow down and start to return to normal.
"I'm sorry, it's just that I usually travel alone..." Haruka scratches the back of his head, looking embarrassed.
"Um..." Kazuma snorts. "So this is it?" Kazuma looks around and sees no giant nest.
"Actually, it's up there." Haruka points upwards indicating a nest on top of a mountain peak.
"Really?..." Kazuma is discouraged by the height of the mountain peak.
PAUSE
The boys climb the peak. Haruka climbs it with his hands while Kazuma holds onto the boy's back. They reach the top and quickly hide in some bushes and watch the bird.
"Is that the Giant Albatross?" Kazuma whispers softly, seeing the size of the bird.
"No wonder it has 'Giant' in its name." Haruka watched the sleeping bird.
The two of them try to think of a plan to catch the egg. Luna told them to avoid fighting this bird, Kazuma holds up a finger having thought of something.
"How about this? You distract him while I go and get the egg?" Kazuma suggests to Haruka.
"That might work, but... can you get the egg fast enough?" Haruka asks, staring at the bird.
"Maybe if you lure it into the forest I'll have more time. It could get stuck in the branches or look for you in the sky." Kazuma replies, still a little pensive.
"Right, get ready to get the egg." Haruka whispers, starting to approach the sleeping bird.
Haruka gets closer and closer to the Albatross. The bird opens its eyes and raises its head to face Haruka. Haruka smiles and pulls down her eyelids, sticking out her tongue and grimacing at the Albatross.
The Albatross roars angrily at Haruka and starts flying towards the boy, Haruka runs while putting his Driver around his waist, he gets to the forest and jumps into it with the Albatross chasing him.
Kazuma slowly approaches the nest and enters it.
"Wou! That's a really big egg!" Kazuma is impressed by the egg.
Grabbing his backpack, Kazuma takes the egg and puts it inside. Finishing securing the egg tightly, Kazuma hears loud noises inside the forest.
"I hope he's all right..." Kazuma puts his backpack on his back ready to leave, but he steps on something rough and a moaning sound comes from the straw of the nest.
Kazuma is startled to see a chick come out of the nest, and then two, three, four and five chicks come out and start looking in Kazuma's direction.
The girls start screaming and crying, trying to call for their mother. Kazuma's eyes widen as fear takes over his body.
(With Haruka.)
Haruka is jumping between the branches dodging the Albatross's pecks, he ducks and the bird crashes into a tree. The Albatross grunts at Haruka, the boy smiles at the bird.
The Albatross advances again, but Haruka dodges. The Albatross turns to Haruka and uses its beak to attack the boy. Haruka manages to dodge the pecks, but the Albatross hits him with its wing, pushing Haruka and knocking him backwards into a tree.
"Ahhh..." Haruka groans, feeling the impact. "Yeah... I guess I'd better go all out." Haruka stands up and faces the Albatross.
Haruka turns the Driver's left lever, making it say "OMEGA!" Haruka inflates his lungs and runs and dicks towards the Albatross while shouting "AMAZON!" the Driver starts chanting "EVO-E-E-EVOLUTION!" Haruka is engulfed in green flames as she falls and grabs onto the bird's neck.
Haruka slashes at the bird's face with her claws, causing it to groan in pain. The Albatross pushes Haruka away, the boy falls to the ground and the flames disappear, showing Haruka in his Rider armor.
The Albatross tries to hit Haruka with its wing, but the boy defends himself, throwing himself to the ground and kicking the Albatross in the chest.
The Albatross coughs, feeling pain in his lungs. It looks at Haruka angrily and tries to bite him. Haruka dodges the bite and manages to punch the Albatross in the face.
The Albatross strikes Haruka with its wing, making the boy slightly dizzy. The Albatross manages to step on Haruka, pinning him to the ground.
Haruka grabs the bird's leg, tearing it apart with his claws. The Albatross lets out a shriek and pecks Haruka on the head. Haruka gets a bit dizzy and tries to get up, but the Albatross keeps hitting his head.
The Albatross stops pecking Haruka, raising its head and the giant bird turns away and looks in Kazuma's direction. The Albatross gets up and starts flying towards the boy.
Haruka gets up, with his head spinning he tries to get up and run towards Kazuma.
Haruka gathers all his strength and starts to run back to where Kazuma was, hearing some thin screams and cries he realizes Kazuma's scream.
Haruka comes out of the dense forest and watches the Albatross try to bite Kazuma, but the boy narrowly manages to dodge it. Haruka is still dizzy, but manages to jump towards the bird and land on its back.
"HARUKA!" Kazuma shouts, scared to death of the bird and dodging its attacks.
"RUN!" Haruka shouts as she grabs onto the bird's neck and tries to distract it.
The Albatross struggles to get Haruka off its back. Haruka raises his hand and hits the bird's back, piercing its flesh as he holds onto the bird's bones.
The Albatross lets out a loud cry, spreading its wings and flying upwards. Flapping wildly in the air, the bird tries to push Haruka off its back.
Moving from side to side, the bird tries its best to get Haruka off its back. Haruka gets a bit dizzy and ends up letting go of the bird, but before it quickly falls he grabs its paw.
The bird moves its paw to kick Haruka away, but the Amazon boy doesn't give in.
Kazuma looks up in shock, worrying a lot about Haruka. Seeing Haruka in trouble, Kazuma makes a decision. Leaving his backpack with the egg on the ground, he runs towards the bird.
Kazuma whistles to attract the bird's attention and unleashes his water magic on the Albatross.
Hitting its face, the Albatross roars at Kazuma, but Haruka manages to climb up the bird's leg and hits it in the chest with his claws. The Albatross moans in pain as its wings begin to give way and it slowly falls to the ground. Haruka climbs onto its back and starts punching it several times in the head.
The Albatross falls to the ground, kicking up a lot of dust. Haruka slowly climbs out of the dust and is about to fall to the ground, but Kazuma holds him back.
"Are you all right?" Kazuma asks, very worried about his friend.
"I'm very dizzy, but I'll be fine..." Haruka puts his hand to his head, still feeling the pain from the Albatross's pecks.
Kazuma takes Haruka to a tree and lets him sit down to rest. Haruka takes a deep breath to catch his breath.
"Are you hurt?" Haruka asks, looking at Kazuma.
"No, I'm not hurt." Kazuma lets out a sigh of relief. "At least you didn't die." Kazuma walks over to his backpack and puts it on his back. "We managed to complete the mission at least."
Haruka nods and tries to get up, but notices the Albatross moving. Haruka quickly grabs Kazuma before the Albatross bites him.
Kazuma is startled to see the badly wounded bird stand up and scream in their direction. Haruka holds Kazuma in his arms, deflecting the Albatross's bites as much as possible.
Haruka stands on the edge of the peak and looks down, seeing that if they fell Haruka would be badly hurt, but Kazuma would be crushed by the impact.
"Do you trust me?" Haruka asks looking at Kazuma's face which is focused on protecting the egg.
"What?" Kazuma asks, not understanding.
Haruka jumps off the peak as Kazuma starts screaming in despair. Grabbing one hand on the wall of the peak, Haruka holds on tight as he falls. Her hand sliding and breaking the rocks to slow her fall. Kazuma screams in despair as he awaits his death.
In a few moments they both hit the ground, raising a huge cloud of dust from the impact. Kazuma rolls on the ground with the egg in his arms, Haruka is crouched down trying to get up after the fall.
Kazuma groans in pain, his body aching from the impact of the fall.
"Are we alive?" Kazuma gets up, still dizzy. "The egg!" Kazuma checks the egg to see if it's broken. "Good, it's in one piece... Haruka!" Kazuma runs over to Haruka.
"I'm fine..." Haruka groans, feeling her knees want to explode. "How's the egg?" Haruka stands up on shaky legs.
"He's fine, but I think we'd better get out of here!" Kazuma says and Haruka agrees.
Kazuma holds his friend over his shoulder to help him walk. The boys hear a noise and look up.
The Albatross and its chicks are pointing their butts at them. All the birds start pooping in the boys' direction.
Haruka's armor disappears due to exhaustion, the boys go into shock and start screaming with all their might at the rain of poop coming towards them.
(Mission completed.)
(Pick up a Giant Albatross egg.)
PAUSE
Everyone in the guild is covering their noses with their hands and some are leaving. Luna observes the situation, covering her mouth and nose so as not to smell the horrible odor.
"Well... you did it." Luna says, trying to smile, but the horrible smell of the boys doesn't allow her to.
"Just deliver the reward." Kazuma says with an expressionless face.
"Make it easy for everyone here, Luna." Haruka says, sounding very annoyed
Kazuma and Haruka are completely covered in poop. Their hair, clothes, equipment and the egg are covered in a white goo with green spots.
"It's okay..." Luna almost dry heaves. "Wait a minute..." Luna leaves, leaving the boys alone.
"We'll never accept that kind of mission again." Kazuma says with hatred in his voice.
"If I see another one of those agents, I'll have a bird on a stick right now." Haruka angrily saws his fist.
"All right boys, come here." Luna calls to the boys while covering her nose.
Haruka and Kazuma follow Luna, Kazuma places the egg on a table. Luna extends her arm to hand over the reward, but moves her head away.
"Thanks." Kazuma takes the reward and the two boys leave the guild.
PAUSE
"You're not staying like this. Straight to the bath!" Aqua shouts at the boys.
Kazuma and Haruka walk towards the bathroom. They see Darkness hold his nose and Megumin look away pretending not to see them.
Kazuma and Haruka enter the bathroom, take off their clothes and sit on two stools and start to wash.
"I swear, I never want to see another giant Albatross in front of me again!" Kazuma shouts with a lot of anger in his tone as he splashes water on his head.
"I will very much skewer a bird if it appears in front of me." Haruka grits her teeth as she rinses her hair.
Kazuma pulls Haruka's shoulder and speaks close to his face. "If you take me on that kind of mission again, I'll end you." Kazuma says, making a frightened expression.
"I won't." Haruka isn't frightened by the threat.
The two of them go back to washing to get all the smell and dirt off them. Kazuma and Haruka spend a good few hours cleaning themselves and getting every bit of dirt off their bodies.
(Next day.)
Haruka and Kazuma are in the same room using towels to cover their bottoms while they wait for Aqua to return with their clothes.
"I hope she comes back soon." Haruka sits on the bed crossing his arms.
"After this I'll be known as the Poop Man!" Kazuma looks at his hands, imagining his future nickname among the adventurers.
"Boys, I'm back." Aqua knocks on the door and opens it a little. "Put your clothes away." Aqua reaches into the room with his bags.
"Thanks, Aqua." Haruka goes to the door and takes the bags. Aqua closes the door and walks out of the room.
"At least she managed to clean them." Kazuma picks up a bag and takes off his clothes.
"Yeah, we have her to thank a lot." Haruka takes her clothes out of the bag and starts to get dressed.
"At least that, I'm glad she made it." Kazuma starts to get dressed.
The boys start to hear a siren. "Destroyer alert! Destroyer Alert! The Mobile Fortress, Destroyer is coming to this city!"
"Destroyer?" The boys look at each other confused and a little scared.

Note: This was the chapter to Increase Kazuma and Haruka's bond. I know it may seem a bit fast, but it's been over a week since he met Kazuma's group, but remember that Haruka has been considering it a since the mission he fought against the Winter Shogun, so wait until the attack on the Destroyer.
Curiosity about Haruka: His typo of woman is cute and determined.
