Hello Readers! Yes, a plot bunny bit me this Sunday and I've cooked up a TMNT Christmas Special fanfic!
Even though I got 'Turtles and Transformers', 'Animals We Have Become', and 'Little Geisha Lost' Unfinished, I cooked up this little story.
Here, I'm sure some can relate to the issues raised here and I got the idea whilst on shift at the hospital where I work and was delivering medicines to the materity ward.
Also some characters in this story belong to their respected owner and a dear friend of mine Tyroth Darkstorm.
Guardian Angel
Chapter One
There was nothing different about the windy City of Chicago in the month of December. The huge city glittered under the winter night sky as the many snowflakes fell covering it with a white blanket.
The sound of traffic as well as the bustle of the people walking and commuting didn't compare to some of the Christmas music that played endlessly since before the festive season had even begun which often annoyed many people when it hadn't even been long past Halloween or Thanksgiving.
Yet early Christmas music wasn't what was annoying one individual.
In an apartment just a stones throw away from Lincoln Park, a young girl with red curly hair curled up in her bed with her pillow over her face, trying to shut out the noises in the next room.
"Shut up! Shut up!" she muttered yet she threw the pillow onto the floor as she gave up trying to blot out the noises than stopped her from sleeping.
It was two 'o' clock in the morning and the cries of a newborn had disturbed her, yet it wasn't the first time as this had been happening for a couple of weeks now.
She then heard the sounds of footsteps as well as a soft cooing voice of her mother.
"Timmy? Awww, what's the matter eh?"
The girl frowned and feeling more irritated she threw her duvet off herself and opened her bedroom door to see her mother, a tired woman wearing a red dressing gown with her red hair in a braid walk into the room where the cries were coming from then reach into a crib and pick up a newborn baby in a white onesie.
"What's it now? Hungry? Wet?" she walked up and down the room cradling the child close then she looked up to see her daughter looking in.
"Oh, hi love." she said.
"What's he screaming about now?" the girl rudely demanded.
"Lacey!" the woman said in a shocked voice.
"That's the third time he's woken me up!" Lacey spat "And this is the hundredth in the weeks since you had him!"
"He can't help it!" Lacey's mother said "He's a baby!"
"Well why did you choose to have him?" Lacey asked.
"Lacey!"
Lacey and her mother looked to the door to see a man with blonde hair and wearing striped blue and white pyjamas coming out of the bathroom with a bag of diapiers and wipes.
"Ralph." Lacey said looking at the man with a frown.
"You know babies can't look after themselves." Ralph said.
Lacey just glared.
"You're all on his side!" she said storming back into her room and slamming the door.
"Lacey!" the mother cried then looked to her husband who walked into the room and placed the items on a table near the crib.
"How's Timmy?" he asked looking at the newborn in his wife's arms who was now calm and cooing a little.
"He's okay." the wife replied "I think he needed burping, but I'll check his diaper."
The husband nodded then looked to the door where Lacey had gone through.
"She's still not used to the idea of her new baby brother." he said with a sigh.
"No..." his wife sighed "Two weeks she's been like this, she's not the daughter I knew."
Ralph sighed.
"I'm sorry Emily." he said "I thought everything was going to be fine, she liked me when we met, and I've always said I'm not trying to replace her real father."
Emily sighed.
"I know..." she said "And when I found myself pregnant with Tim, she seemed to accept it, but now she's..."
"Jealous and upset?" Ralph said "It's common in older siblings and, she's been an only child for so long, this is a huge change."
Emily sighed as she placed baby Timmy on the changing table.
"I know Ralph." she said "But I can't lie and say I'm not concerned, it's always been me and her until she was eleven, then we met you, and we became a trio, now Timmy's here..."
"She'll get used to it love, she has to." Ralph said "I'm not going to give up on her, I know I'm not her father and I'm not trying to be, but I'll do what I can."
Emily smiled at her husband.
"Thanks." she said "I trust you."
She looked down at the baby who lay on the table cooing and comfortable again.
"And it's your first Christmas tiny Tim!" she smiled "And it's going to be perfect, I hope." she thought as she looked to where Lacey had stormed off.
Back in her bedroom, Lacey slumped on the floor and pulled her knees up to her chest as she heard the conversation through the door.
Three years ago, it had been just her and her mum from when she was six, her father had died in an accident on a construction site where he worked and she still missed him terribly.
Five years later her mother met Ralph when she had been on a night out and a year later they had gotten married.
Lacey liked Ralph, since he had been very good to her and helped her with her homework and took her to dance classes and supported her along with her mum, but only recently since her new baby brother Timmy arrived, Lacey found it difficult as her mum and stepfather hadn't been able to do things with her like before and she felt pushed aside.
When her mother announced her pregnancy, she was surprised as well as shocked and as much as she tried to be happy for her, she felt upset as she knew things would change for her.
At High school, she had a couple of friends who had siblings, one was the eldest of two and the the other was the youngest.
When she had told them her news, she wanted them to sympathize with her, yet their reactions hadn't be what she expected.
They had both been pleased and congratulated her.
The first friend said she loved babies and had enjoyed taking care of her brother and sister when they arrived and the other one had said it would be cool to have a younger sibling looking up to you as she looked up to her older sister.
Hearing that, Lacey felt more lonely and that no-one understood how she felt and she hated feeling that way.
After a moment she soon felt exhaustion take over and she climbed back into bed, as she did, she looked at a couple of photos on her bedside table.
One was of her as a toddler and her dad sitting on her sofa watching TV and her wrapped in a towel, and the other was of her at twelve wearing a purple bridesmaids outfit and standing proudly with her mum and stepdad at their wedding.
"Why me?" she thought "Why me...?"
Meanwhile, right under the city, deep in the sanctuary of Mutopia, it's residents were getting ready for Christmas.
Once again the whole place had been decorated like a Winter Wonderland with lights, tinsel and many other ornaments and figures and the Mess Hall had it's huge Christmas tree with everyone's gifts wrapped and ready to be opened on Christmas Day.
Also joining them was the Hamato Clan from New York and their human friends April and Casey who had arrived only yesterday and had just finished placing their gifts under the tree or on a nearby table.
"...okay, that's the last one." April said placing the final present under the tree.
"Where's mine?" Michelangelo asked as he eyed the many gifts.
"It's under there Mike!" the lizard lady Monalisa said "But no peeking till Christmas day!"
"Awww!" Michelangelo sulked and Monalisa just laughed.
"Don't you pout mister!" she said flicking his bottom lip downwards "That's Pandora's job!"
"Hey!" Monalisa's teenage hybrid daughter exclaimed.
"Your mother's right kiddo." the turtle Raphael, her father said "You know you're pouty!"
As soon as he said that, Pandora stuck out her bottom lip.
"There you go!" Donatello tittered "Right on que!"
Pandora grunted.
"And with her dear old dad's attitude to match!" Leonardo quipped to which Raphael frowned at his older brother.
"Aint that the truth!" Casey said.
"You're one to talk Mr Jones!" April said to her husband as she stood up "When it comes to you and Raphael clanging heads, you're a right pair!"
"Well whose worse when it comes to duo antics?" Casey asked, "Me and Raphie boy or Mikey and Pandora?"
"What?" Michelangelo and Pandora asked in stereo then looked at each other surprised.
"You're both as bad as each other, is all I can say." the voice of Master Splinter their rat sensei spoke up.
"Grandpa!" Pandora exclaimed.
"He's right!" Kemeko agreed "Although when your pranks go wrong, it's fun to see you two on the short end!" she laughed at her cousin/honored sister and uncle who both looked appalled.
"Alright, alright, that's enough of that." Tyroth's voice was heard as the dragon walked over with a couple of bulging shopping bags which he handed to Patch the Badger who walked to the kitchen to where Louie the chef was preparing food for the upcoming Christmas dinners.
"Hi Big T!" the adults said together yet Pandora and Kemeko said "Hi Uncle T!"
"I got the Big Birds for Christmas Eve and Day." Tyroth said proudly, "Managed to get them from the best Poultry place in Chicago! Well, Jake did the errand and just returned." he added sheepishly.
"Sweet!" Pandora said "Duck and Goose?"
"The very ones Little Geisha!" Tyroth winked "And the traditional turkey!"
"And glazed Ham?" Kemeko asked.
"Indeed Lotus!" Tyroth said "And of course for those who don't eat meat like a certain Shark we know, we got the alternatives, like Nut roast."
"You do think of everything." Monalisa smiled.
"Well, when you're responsible for a whole village, you got to think of these things." Tyroth shrugged.
"The way you run this place Big T." Michelangelo said "You'd be a perfect Jarl in the DnD world!"
"I'd say he would be." Leonardo agreed looking at his younger brother "Well in a way, he is of Mutopia here."
Tyroth chuckled.
"Nice of you to think that way guys." he said "Well if we did live in that World, maybe." he said.
"I hope we can play that game again soon." Michelangelo said "And with the magic dice again?" he added under his breath.
"I thought we talked about that?" Raphael reminded his brother.
"Chief! Chief!"
Everyone looked to the entrance of the mess hall to see Nick the Frog hopping in and looking rather worried.
"What is it Frog man?" Tyroth asked.
"Rattletrap's in trouble again, and Jun's on the warpath."
Tyroth sighed.
"Now what has that rat done?" he sighed as he looked at the Hamato Clan "Sorry guys!" he said as he followed Nick out the door.
"Typical." April sighed "Every time there's an incident it's always Rattletrap."
"I wonder what he did to scorn Jun?" Kemeko asked thinking of the mutant tiger who along with his female white wolf girlfriend Dahlia had joined Mutopia only a few months ago.
"Whatever he did, can't be good." Leonardo said "And given Jun's martial arts and fighter background, he's not one to get on the wrong side of."
"You telling me!" Raphael said "I've still got bruises on my butt last time I sparred with that guy!"
Michelangelo laughed.
"Sure was a sight seeing you in a submissive hold!" he quipped yet he ducked as Raphael took a swipe at him.
"Quit it you two." Leonardo said "Come on, lets see what that rats got himself into."
Pandora chuckled and secretly hoped she'd be able to see Jun tackle the rat before Tyroth stopped him.
And there's the first chapter! Hope you like it!
Also, to those who don't know, Michelangelo and Leonardo referring to Tyroth as Jarl is a reference to my dear friend Tyroth Darkstorm's TMNT/Dungeons and Dragons crossover non-canon/possible future fanfic 'Regenesis' and the magic dice Michelangelo mentions is from his other TMNT/Dungeons and Dragons crossover 'Roleplaying Gone Wrong'. You can find both fics on his page which you can find on my favouraite authors or in my favouraite stories categories on my profile if you haven't read them already.
