It was early Saturday morning, and I was the only one who was awake. I decided to make breakfast for everyone, which was tough since there were ten people and four fairies on this ship, all with vastly different tastes in food. It wasn't easy, but it was possible. For me, breakfast was simple. Sausage, bacon, and three eggs with a side of rye toast. For Poof, I made pancakes. By the time I got to making Libby's breakfast, everyone on the ship was awake. Still, I continued to make breakfast for the crew. I could go on and on, telling you what everyone had for breakfast, but I don't want to bore you. As I was cooking, Jimmy asked "Timmy, when did you learn how to cook?"
"Right around the time Chloe came into my life." I said.
"Who?" he said.
"Chloe Carmichael, my next-door neighbor I had to share Cosmo and Wanda with for a year. That was a long, complicated year." I said.
"Sounds like it. Is that the reason you learned how to cook?" he said. It was a reason, but not the only one.
So, I said "One of them, yeah. With my parents constantly out, no babysitter to rely on, plus Cosmo and Wanda busy either taking care of Poof or granting Chloe's wishes, I had to rely on myself for food. Since take-out gets expensive, I started cooking for myself. Even after Chloe moved away and Poof got a little older, I didn't stop because it's relaxing for me."
"Well, I gotta say, you're an incredible cook." he said.
"Thanks Jimmy." I said.
"You're welcome. By the way, do you think we'll run into Remy?" he said.
"How do you know about Remy?" I said.
"AJ told me about him." he said.
"Oh okay. Also no, we will not be seeing him. I think he's going to Australia for the summer." I said.
Trixie chimed in by saying "Actually, he's going to Canada. Australia was only a rumor."
"Good. Based on what AJ told me, he seems pretty dumb." he said.
"Well, he is dumb." I said.
"You know, he reminds me of someone, but I can't put my finger on it." he said.
"I hope it isn't me." I said.
"No, I'm thinking of someone from my universe." he said.
"Wasn't he that rich kid we covered in honey or something?" I said.
"Eustace Strych, that's who I'm thinking about. Man, I haven't thought about him in years. He was moved out of Retroville after the bee thing. He went cross country and moved to New York City." he said.
"How do you know that?" I said.
"I ran into him at an inventor's conference there last year, and he ran away in terror like I had a beehive in my back pocket. It was weird." he said.
"I bet." I said. After breakfast, we all met in the bridge to start planning our big heist. I brought the map I printed the night before and presented it to the crew. I held my volcano research for a later meeting. Looking at the map, I said "This is the layout of the Fairy World Museum of History." I pointed to where our first piece of the World's Treasure was, in the center of the early fairy history section on the east side of the museum. As I pointed, I said "This is our target. The only thing I know is that Jimmy will hack the security system."
Jimmy asked "When do we plan on stealing this?"
"Tomorrow morning. Sunday's the least active day." Jorgen said.
"Is there any way to know how many cameras are in the building?" Jimmy said.
"The best way to know is to get some pictures from the inside. That way, we can get an exact number of cameras." AJ said.
"So, what do we do, act like tourists?" Carl said.
"That's genius. No one suspects tourists taking photos." I said.
"It would be genius Turner, except humans are not allowed to bring cameras inside." Jorgen said.
"Who says we're humans?" I said.
"What are you suggesting?" he said.
"I'm saying we could send in a small group of us disguised as fairies." I said.
"I highly doubt it will work." he said.
"Do you have any suggestions?" I said.
"No." he said. It started to feel like Jorgen was trying to be difficult.
"Then it's settled, we're doing the disguise idea." I said.
"Absolutely not." he said. I couldn't believe what I heard. He was trying to challenge me.
"Excuse me?" I said.
"We're not going to do something so risky." he said.
"Jorgen, did you forget who's captain here?" I said.
"Don't get cocky Turner. You may be captain of this ship, but that means nothing considering your lack of experience." he said. "You may have helped us during the Fairy/Pixie war, but that was blind luck." It's like he wanted to push my buttons. I wanted to whack him, but I knew that was a one-way ticket to Pain City.
So, I said "Luck had nothing to do with that big guy. I'm done wasting my breath arguing with you. You think you're so good at this, why don't you come up with a plan yourself." I walked out of the bridge and to my room. I wanted to blow off some steam, so I did the most mature thing I could think of, lay on my bed and scream into a pillow. It seemed like a better idea compared to smashing and throwing stuff. After a bit of screaming, I rolled over and stared at my ceiling. While I stared, my door opened. I looked to see Cindy standing in the doorway.
She said "Are you okay?"
"No." I said as I sat up. "It feels like no matter what I do, Jorgen doesn't trust or respect me."
"I noticed. Sorry about that." she said.
"Thanks. Has anyone ever been condescending to you?" I said.
"A few, yes. Even Jimmy, though that's usually by mistake." she said as she sat down next to me.
"Then you have an idea about how I feel." I said.
"Yeah. For the record, I think you were right to go with Carl's idea." she said.
"I'm glad I'm not alone." I said. We looked into each other's eyes and felt that spark again. This was it, my chance to kiss her again. I could tell she felt the same. So, I kissed her before anyone could interrupt us. It was then that I noticed that the spark wasn't there.
Our lips parted, and she said "Is something off?"
"I hate to say it, but yeah." I said.
"It's okay, I feel the same way." she said. "Which is odd. Because I still like being with you. There just isn't that romantic feeling we had before."
"I know. Maybe we just like each other as friends." I said.
"Maybe. Things do change after four years." she said.
"Yeah, right. You know what, I'm happy that we can still be friends." I said.
"Me too." she said.
Just then, Jimmy came in and said "Captain, you're needed at the bridge." I followed him to the bridge to see Jorgen looking down at the floor, and Wanda floating next to him.
She looked at Jorgen and said "Isn't there something you would like to tell Timmy?"
"Turner, Carl, we'll go with your plan." Jorgen said, sounding defeated.
"Well, I'm glad you finally saw reason." I said.
"My only concern now is who do we send in?" he said. He had a good point, who was going in? Outside of myself, the only human with any knowledge of Fairy World was Jimmy. But that was only passing knowledge he gathered from one visit four years before. Even so, he had some knowledge, and I was sure he could handle a little espionage. So that's what I was going to suggest to Jorgen.
That was, until Tootie said "Timmy and I could go." While I wasn't surprised, I still couldn't believe she said it. I figured that Jorgen would shoot the idea down, giving me a chance to make my suggestion.
But he said "Great idea, what do you say Captain?" I could tell that he wanted to get back at me. He knew I wouldn't deliberately hurt Tootie's feelings.
So, I said "Yes, it's a great idea."
"Then it's settled. Turner and Tootie will enter the museum disguised as fairies." he said.
"Wait, I have an idea." Jimmy said. He then walked up to Tootie. "What if we fit Tootie's glasses with a camera. There would be no need for a disguise. Timmy and Tootie could just go in as themselves. As they wander, she could covertly take photos." He looked at me. "What are your thoughts Captain?"
I thought his idea was fantastic, so I said "I like it, what about you Tootie?"
She said "Me too."
"Okay, do you have a spare pair of glasses Tootie?" he said.
"No. Wait, can I wish for one?" she said.
"Sorry sweetie, only fairy god kids can do that." Wanda said.
"Oh." Tootie said. "Timmy, do you mind?"
"No." I said. "Wanda, I wish Tootie had a spare pair of glasses."
"Coming right up." Wanda said. With a wave of her wand, Tootie was suddenly holding a spare pair of glasses.
She gave them to Jimmy, who said "Give me a few minutes, and they'll be done."
"Sounds good." I said. "Anything else Jorgen?"
"I suggest that the rest of the team, minus Chester, explore Fairy World for themselves. We'll all meet back here in one hour." Jorgen said.
"What are we doing with Chester?" I said.
"That's something I still need to figure out." he said. Before the meeting ended, I remembered the text message I had gotten last night.
So, I said "One last thing. I got a text message last night from an unknown number, possibly Crocker. It told me to watch my back, and that they're building a team. I mention this so that we all stay on our toes today." With everything seemingly settled, I said "Alright, meeting adjourned." We all then left the bridge. As Tootie was walking down the hall, I followed close behind. Despite being one of her best friends, I didn't have a lot of chances to hang out with her. So, I figured we should hang out before we do the job in the museum. When I finally approached her, I said "Hey Tootie?"
"Yeah Timmy." she said.
"I was wondering if you wanted to hang—" I said.
"Yes!" she said, before she hugged me tight. In the past, I probably would have feared for my life. But at that moment, I was at ease. Her hugging me just felt right.
As she let go, she said "Sorry, I got a little excited."
"Hey, it's fine. I'm actually glad you're excited." I said.
"Really?" she said. At that moment, I wondered something. Was I in love with Tootie? I couldn't believe it. All those years, I had feelings for the girl that used to be obsessed with me. Actually, she wasn't that girl. She was the sister of my evil babysitter, so she would understand what I went through better than anyone. This moment was a real eye opener for me.
As I looked into her eyes, I wanted to say every romantic word swirling through my head. The problem was, I was too scared to say them. What if the reason she wasn't obsessed with me was because she only saw me as a friend, or worse, a brother. It was bad enough that Cindy and I no longer had a romantic connection, I didn't want to find out my connection with Tootie was one sided. So, I figured it probably wasn't best to pursue a romantic relationship at that moment.
Then, out of nowhere, Jimmy and AJ randomly started chanting "Make out, make out, make out."
Wanting to move quickly, I said "My room?"
"Yeah." she said. We then went to my bedroom and locked the door to keep out un-welcomed guests.
I turned to her, when she said "So, what do you wanna do?"
"I don't know, any suggestions?" I said.
"We could play a video game?" she said.
"Good suggestion, let me see if I have anything?" I said, as I started scanning the room for a video game. That's when I saw a bookcase full of games. I guess Wanda put my game collection on the ship to pass the time. I walked up to my game case and started looking for one. It didn't take long for me to find one, Crimson Chin Battle. A fighting game based on the Crimson Chin, sounded like fun. I pulled the game off its shelf and handed it to her.
She looked at me and said "Looks like fun. Let's play it." I set the game up, and we started playing. As we played, she asked "So, what was it like sharing your fairies with Chloe?"
I said "It wasn't so bad at first. Sure, she screamed about everything, to the point I thought she was crazy. But there was this sweet side to her that made up for it. After all, she was the first person to help me get my grades up."
"That's true." she said.
"But, towards the end, she annoyed me with how much she tied up Cosmo and Wanda. So, while I dealt with your bitch sister and my absent parents, Chloe had active parents and fairy godparents that could grant her wishes." I said.
"That's not fair." she said.
"When Jorgen was finally able to get Chloe her own fairies, I was so happy. I had my family back." I said.
"Why did you have to share your fairies anyway?" she said.
"There was a fairy shortage." I said.
"I'm sorry, a what?" she said.
"Fairy shortage." I said.
"How can you be short on fairies?" she said.
"That's an issue I can't get into without giving a long history lesson, and we know how 'great' my attention span can be sometimes." I said.
"Good point." she said. While we were playing, there was a knock on the door.
I paused the game and said "Hold on." I walked up to the door and opened it. Jimmy was on the other side, standing in the hall.
"Tootie, I finished the glasses." he said. She came over and took them.
She said "Thank you."
"You're welcome." He said. He then looked at me and said "Can I see you for a moment?"
"I guess?" I said.
"It's okay, I can wait." she said. So, I followed Jimmy to the sick bay, where AJ was reading the book History of Fairy World.
AJ looked up from the book and said "This book is fascinating."
"Really? How so?" I said.
"It confirms that Father Darkness has the ability to control minds. This control lasts until someone says his name." he said.
"Just like Chester last night." I said.
"Exactly. My only question is, why won't Jorgen tell us about them?" Jimmy said.
"That's a good question. But right now, I'm going back to my room. I'll see you when we land." I said. I ran back to my room, hoping Tootie was still there. But when I reentered my room, I noticed that she was gone, and the game was off. I decided that it was as good a time as any to take a shower, since I never had a chance the night before. As I was taking my shower, I started thinking about what Tootie and I were going to do when we finished the museum job. That's when I came up with the idea to go sightseeing, which would give us time to get to know each other better. It would also, if I was brave enough, give me a chance to profess my true feelings for her.
So, after I finished my shower, I dried myself off and wrapped a towel around my waist. As soon as I walked into the room, I saw Tootie was standing by my door. I felt like I was having that nightmare where I was naked in front of the whole school, despite still wearing a towel and only being in front of a girl I liked. Looking at her, I said "Um, hi?"
"I'm sorry. I wanted to see if you were ready. Bye." Tootie said, before she walked away and shut the door behind her. I quickly threw on my underwear and ran out of my room only to see that she was gone. I decided to go to her room and see if she was there. But when I got there, I saw that she wasn't there. So, I decided it was best to go back to my room and get dressed. As I walked, I saw AJ and Jimmy standing across from my room.
AJ took one look at me and said "Is everything okay?"
"Don't even ask." I said before going back in my room. I walked into my closet and picked an interesting custom tourist outfit. A pink Hawaiian shirt, blue jean shorts and blue sandals, everything needed to blend in like a sore thumb. I even grabbed a pair of sunglasses and my pink hat to complete the look. After getting dressed, I entered the bridge and saw that everyone was there, even Tootie. But I wasn't in the mood to talk. I felt embarrassed, running around the ship like a half-naked psycho because I was looking for a girl.
I decided to sit on my chair and sulk as we started landing. AJ asked me something, but I can't remember what. I'm not sure what my answer was, but it wasn't anything strange. Once the ship landed, we all walked over to the exit. Our ship was parked at the Fairy World Spaceship Depot. I guess Fairy World had a lot of alien visitors. Before we got off, Jorgen handed everybody a map of Fairy World. The door opened, and we all left the ship. Well, minus Jorgen and AJ, who were probably talking about what to do with Chester. But that didn't matter because I was trying to find Tootie. It didn't take me long to find her. As we walked, she looked at me and I said "Hey."
She said "Hey, sorry about earlier. It really was an accident."
"It's okay, they happen." I said.
"I should have knocked." she said.
"Don't worry." I said. Trying to think of something, I noticed that we were walking past the Fairy World Park. Seeing this, I said "Look, why don't we forget about earlier and get to the Museum of History? It's a pretty cool museum. They even have churros."
"Good idea. We should get to work" she said.
"Then maybe we could go to the park after we're done." I said, pointing to the park.
"Sure, why not." she said.
"Alright." I said. We then continued to walk over to the museum. We had no idea how crazy things were going to get.
There were many interesting things I saw on this adventure. There were also many random moments that happened. One of these involved my friends Timmy and Tootie. Jimmy and I wanted to see if Timmy was almost ready, and it seemed that Tootie had the same idea. But when she opened his door, she said "I'm sorry. I wanted to see if you were ready. Bye." She then closed his door and walked to the bridge. Moments later, Timmy ran out in his underwear, looking around the hall. He later told me that he had just gotten out of the shower, and that a towel was the only thing keeping things from getting even more embarrassing. After a quick look around, he went down to her room, and she clearly wasn't there. When he came back, I noticed he seemed upset.
So, I said "Is everything okay?"
He looked at me and said "Don't even ask." He went back into his room and closed the door behind him.
I looked at Jimmy, and he said "What's with him?"
"If I had to guess, he embarrassed himself in front of his crush." I said.
"That wasn't Trixie." he said.
"I know." I said. "We should head to the bridge." We did exactly that, along with almost everybody else. Timmy wasn't there yet, but I was sure he'd be there soon.
Just as we were about to land, I saw Timmy enter the bridge dressed like a typical tourist. I guess he wanted to be inconspicuous, something you can't do as Timmy Turner, I guess. Timmy sat in his chair and looked disappointed. So, I asked him "How are things Captain?"
"Things could be better." he said, as the ship landed in Fairy World.
Once the ship landed, Jorgen stood up, and said "All right, we're here." Before we left, he handed each of us a map.
As everyone was leaving, I said to Jorgen "What are we doing with Chester? We can't just leave him on the ship." I said.
"We're taking him to the Fairy World Jail." he said.
"Wait, don't I get a say in this?" Chester said.
"No, you don't." Jorgen said. He then picked Chester up. and I rejoined my friends. Timmy and Tootie were far ahead, where I could see him pointing towards a nearby park. I had a feeling that things were going to be fine between them. I continued walking forward, when Jimmy and Cindy came up next to me.
Jimmy said "I just checked the map and noticed that there's a motel right next to the Museum of History."
"And that's interesting because?" I said.
"I'd be closer to the museum, which means a better connection. Which means the cameras and security would be down earlier. Making our job faster." he said.
"In that case, it is interesting." I said.
"Tell me, what are you going to do with your time?" he said.
"As a scientist, I'm thinking of going to the Fairy World Museum of Science. I'd like to see what fairy science is like." I said.
"Have fun. We'll see you later." Cindy said. Jimmy and Cindy then walked ahead of me, as I continued heading towards the science museum. I was not prepared for the discoveries I was going to see, as well as other mysterious things.
So far, the journey had been nothing but torture. Since the start, I'd been strapped to a chair for something I didn't remember doing. Why would I try to kill Timmy? But the worst part of all, I had to go to a fairy jail. I had no say in that decision, I had to go to a fairy jail. Didn't change the fact that I wanted answers. As Jorgen carried me, I said "Why am I going to jail?"
"Because you tried to kill Turner." Jorgen said.
"Why would I do that?" I said.
"There are at least four reasons you could have done it." he said.
"Like?" I said.
"There's money, love, a desire for power. Then there's the one that's most likely it." he said.
"Which is?" I said.
"Something I'll tell you later, because we're here." he said. We then went into the jail, and I was placed in a cell. Jorgen then left the jail, and I was stuck in jail. Then out of nowhere, a figure appeared in from the dark corner of my cell. He looked like Cosmo, but was blue, had bat wings, and dressed better.
He then floated over to me and said "Chester dear boy, I'm not surprised you're in here." That last part didn't register at the time. I was more concerned with learning about this stranger.
"Who are you?" I said.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot my manners. My name is Anti-Cosmo, and I'm an anti-fairy." he said in a strong British accent.
"What's an anti-fairy?" I said.
"An anti-fairy is like a fairy, but a lot prettier. We also play tricks on humans for our own amusement. And torture too for a bit of spice. Misery loves company, and I love misery." he said.
"Okay, who is Father Darkness? Is he an anti-fairy?" I said.
"Father Darkness is not just any anti-fairy, he's the king of the anti-fairies and the first. Before the opposite rule. He's a seven-foot-tall armor wearing anti-fairy who plans on ruling the worlds of magic and non-magic with an iron fist." he said.
"Why does he want to do that?" I said.
"Simple, he wants absolute power. Now it's my turn to play twenty questions. Why are you here?" he said.
"Everyone keeps telling me that I tried to kill Timmy. But I don't remember trying to, does that have anything to do with Father Darkness?" I said.
"He can control minds, making others do things they normally wouldn't do. With that control, he can influence further victims. Anyone under his direct control or influence blacks out and has no memory of what happened during the control." he said.
"He sounds like a real bad guy." I said.
"My dear boy, you don't even know the half of it. He's built a team to get the treasure too. Some of them will be familiar." he said.
"Why are you telling me all of this." I said.
"Because I love pulling pranks on humans, and enslavement is not fun. After all, how can you make someone miserable if they are already miserable?" He said. He then moved back from me and said "All right, I'm leaving."
"Wait, you dump all that Father Darkness info, and you're just gonna leave me here?" I said.
"Yes, I'm exhausted. I spent the early morning hours gathering loonies from another dimension, one of them coming from the city of Retroville. Goodbye Chester, dear boy. Don't die in here." he said. Then in the blink of an eye, he disappeared. There I was, trapped in Fairy World Jail all alone. Knowing what I knew about Father Darkness, I had to warn my team. The only problem was, how was I going to get out of jail? That's when I noticed the key to the cell was still in the lock. All I had to do now was get out of the chair.
That's when my brief interest in magic came in handy. After dislocating my shoulder, like Houdini with his straitjacket routine, I was able to free myself from the rope. After popping my shoulder back in and tossing the ropes off, I picked up the keys and left my cell. On the desk, I saw a piece of paper addressed to me. I looked at it and saw an address for something called "Darkness HQ." There was a brief message from Anti-Cosmo that read "This is where your friends will be. Go save them dear boy." With that, I left the jail. Now all I had to do was get to my friends.
