Chapter 14

At the domain…

Chusi found it rather strange.

Ever since she has been taken to the nursery, she found Sanso oddly protective of her! At the same time, he keeps a close eye on Satoru and Suguru who have more mobility than she does. Despite the fact she was showing a little pregnancy wise, she feels as if her energy is just drained out of her body. She can't bring herself to walk a distance and gets tried just climbing up a set of stairs.

"Everything okay?"

She sighed as she turned to Sanso's wife, Hecate. She has remained in the nursery along side her husband just in case.

"I find it odd that I am so tried right now. I wasn't like this with Ryoto…" she said offhandedly. "Also, why is Sanso acting like this?"

The nursery bed was massive, in fact, Yua's whole family could fit in the bed and have room to sprawl out! Yet she has found Sanso taking a good chunk of the space and made a rather comfy nest on top of the bed, but he also made a side one for her and Sukuna to sleep on at night. When Sukuna isn't there, Sanso is at her side and continues to be.

Hecate smiled. "Oh yeah, about that. Although rare, some males have been able to get themselves knocked up to have offspring. Only those desperate to do so usually do it. However, when a male does become pregnant, they can get rather… difficult." She explained.

"Sometimes instincts will get the better of them. If they have no nurturing abilities what so ever, they tend to lash out, and at times, they will attack a brooding female since they consider them a threat. But the males that do something like this, don't have a female at their side. They are single males having the children and it can stress them out."

"Then why…"

"Because, he has a mate." She explained. "Sanso has me, and he knows I will have his back. Males who have mates and do this, are more aware of the world and know who and what is a threat to them and their offspring. At the moment, he is leery of Satoru and Suguru since they are pregnant males, at the same time, they are going to give birth far faster than you and Sanso."

"Really?!"

"Males can out eat a female even when she is expecting, they are also far more capable of hunting too when it comes to this as well. Males are able to gather their own food rather easily, when a brooding female cannot. It is far more of a burden to her to hunt than it is to brood." She explained.

"Sanso is just making sure you are safe, since after all, his brothers did the same for Toshi, Tanso and Kotsuso."

She sort of understood, but at the same time, she thought it was odd that he was that defensive. Not to mention, she's not a dragon or blood relation to him, why go through the trouble?

"You still appear confused…" Hecate said.

"Well… why…"

"Did you forget whom you are related to?" she asked curiously. "Sanso, the brothers all know Yua. They all respect her too, since you are her blood, they see it is fit to look out for you out of courtesy for her." She explained. "Dragons do this with those they respect, they obviously respect Yua."

"No shit" chimed Suguru and Satoru. "But why do we have to stay here?!" Satoru demanded.

"So Yua can make sure you eat right this time around and don't wonder off?" Suguru asked him.

Satoru pouted.

"If anything I know I am safe around Suguru… Satoru on the other hand…" she muttered to Hecate who snickered at the comment.

Before Satoru could rebuttal the comment. Ryomen returned with Yua. Chusi smiled as he entered the nursery, he was all cleaned up from his hunt with Rook and was easing himself into the large nested bed. Sanso gave a small growl but held back since Chusi was at ease with him.

"He still doesn't like me huh?" Ryomen asked.

"I think that's everyone around here." Chimed Satoru.

"No one asked you," Chusi snapped back as she snuggled in close to Ryomen. "So, how was it out there?"

He said the hunting was good, too good in fact, Rook and him came home with plenty of meat, and yet he is wondering how many more of these waves of divine creatures are coming. "It's strange if you ask me, granted, a sorcerer's main goal should be curses… But even those have become less active than the divine beasts. Something is rattling the order…" he said.

"My father said the same thing," Yua chimed in. "He and the other Toorus have been keeping track of the curse activity, the odd thing is that curses are either too weak to take form or they instantly become a first grade or special grade threat. Is the environment that hostile to the curses right now?"

"Considering how much energy it takes for them to send divine beasts from the heavenly realm…" Ryomen said and yet, fell silent. "Odd, very odd. Perhaps that could be the case…"

"Divine creatures are coming in, unleashing divine energy… which curses can't use, right?" asked Suguru.

"You should have married that one first." Ryomen muttered to Yua.

She snickered, as did Chusi. "He wasn't ready for that yet, and he wasn't worthy. But good observation." Chusi said and giggled.

"Sitting… right here!" Satoru protested.

"I know, that's why I say it out loud." Chusi said and smiled. "But besides that…"

"Plenty of food" Ryomen decreed. He then lifted her from the bed and placed Chusi on his lap, from there, she was in heaven. He was rubbing her feet and back all at the same time. Like a personal massage chair!

As she fell into a state of bliss, Yua explained that they would keep the fridges full. "I noticed when Chusi is hungry, she is really hungry, we are going to be rearranging things here so there are plenty of meals for her to access. Apparently my uncle Hokus is really taking up the cause here to help out… are you SURE he has Zen'in blood?" Yua asked of Ryomen.

"Talk to my boy about that and your grandfather," he simply stated. "Apparently, they knocked the Zen'in out of him. I didn't believe it until I spoke with him again… he thinks, talks and acts more like a Tooru than ever before."

Chusi giggled, although, she wished she could have seen that alteration of his soul first hand. But for now, she is just too content where she is.

Ryomen does give the best foot rubs!
