The Kraken
It was a peaceful night as the Tennysons were parked by a popular lake, and in his enjoyment, Ben charged off the dock and cannonballed into the lake below making a large splash. "Judges score... yes! Perfect 10! Ben joked to himself as he imitated a sports commentator before imitating a cheering crowd.
Gwen for her part was less than impressed, "A perfect dweeb is more like it." she snarked.
Come on, dive in!" Ben encouraged.
Gwen rolled her eyes as she held up a light, "Please! Who knows what nasty, slimy things are slithering around in there." She then shined at Ben with a smirk, "I rest my case."
"What's the point in camping by a lake if you're afraid to get wet?" Ben questioned before splashing some water high enough that it landed on Gwen. Ugh, knock it off, doofus!" Gwen scolded before storming off.
After a few moments, Ben went right back to his laketime fun, laughing to himself at how ridiculous Gwen was being, "What a loser. We're right next to a lake and she doesn't want to hop in? Talk about lameoh!"
However, just then he felt something brush against his leg. "Huh? What was that?" He then felt another brush, "What's - Whoes there?!." Then suddenly he felt something wrap around his leg as it began pulling him down. Letting out a scream of terror Ben kicked his way out of whatever had snagged him and raced to the dock where he pulled himself out. Stumbling and tripping over himself he watched as a moss and seaweed-covered monster leaped from the lake and onto the docks, eerie yellow eyes peaking through. It was then that Ben noticed that Gwen had left the lamp she had used earlier. Wasting no time he grabbed it and held it up to the monster's face, only to find a familiar Froggy face.
"Dweeb?" Ben yelled red in the face as Leapfrog laughed it up."
"Hehehe, you should have seen the look on your face! Ah, priceless!"
Ben then stormed off to the Rustbucket, "You are so busted when I tell Grandma!"
"I can't believe he fell for it!" Leapfrog cackled to herself as she shook the seaweed off, "A monster in the lake! How dumb can you be?"
However just before she could follow she heard a sudden disturbance in the water, turning around the check it out she found the giant silhouette of a monster rising out of the water. A tendril from the figure shot at her, grabbing and launching her across the lake. Gwen hopped back out of the water ready to fight back Only for her to find nothing. Taking a second to look around she is suddenly grabbed by a tendril as she is fragged under. Once underwater Gwen managed to get a look at the monster, its giant eye glaring straight at them. Gasping, Gwen managed to break free of the tendrils to get back to the surface and eventually ran into the Rustbucket.
She then burst into the Rustbucket waking Verdona and Ben as the door slammed open. She panted out of breath, "I was just attacked by a giant lake monster!" She shrieked.
Ben for his part didn't even take the time to look at her before throwing a pillow at her face, "Hello? Current events? You already got me with that one."
"But I'm not kidding this time!"
"Come on dear, the joke's over."
"...But I–" As if to add insult to injury she just then timed out, slipping on her own puddle.
"Get some sleep dear, remember we have an early day tomorrow for our fishing trip."
—-
The next morning Gwen was still on edge as she, Ben, and Verdona walked along the docks, Gwen desperately trying to get them to believe her. "Beleive me! It was humongous with these red glowing eyes-!" However, they were less than convinced.
'I'm sure it was just some kind of big fish, that's all."
'Yeah, so give the mega-fish story a rest, will you "Private Doofus?"
Wondering ahead, Ben came across a bucket that gave him a wicked idea. As Gwen walked around uneasily Ben shoved his hand in her face, a bucket of worms wriggling around in his hand. The sight caused her to gag."Breakfast? Ben quipped as he held them right up to her face.
"Eugh- Ben, gross... What's with the bucket of slimies?" Gwen blanched.
"Bait!" Verdona cheered as she hoisted up a bucket. "And lunch if we get peckish."
Shivering at the sight Gwen stepped back as she put her hands up placatently. "Yeah- Well, I think I'm gonna pass on the fishing thing. I'll stay here and catch some sun instead! You two have fun being eaten by a monster." She cheered as she waved them away.
"Whatever you say dear" Verdona replied with an eye roll. Walking a bit further down the dock they approached a fairly large boat with a red-headed man standing in front. "Captain Melville?" Verdona inquired as she approached the man.
"Who wants to know?" The red-headed man replied with a smile.
"I'm Verdona Tennyson, and this is my grandson, Ben. We chartered your boat today for a fishing trip." Verdona explained putting on her best sweet old grandma voice.
Giving a fond smile Jonah gestured for them to board, "Then welcome aboard these two are my friends Duane and Jack." The respective men turned from their work to give the grandma and grandson a nod of acknowledgment before continuing their work. After climbing aboard the ship set sail as it made its way into the greater lake.
Setting up their fishing gear Verdona gestured to the Captain. "Anything... interesting out there to catch today?" Verdona asked Jonah as he steered the ship.
Jonah for his part simply let out a good-natured laugh as he replied wistfully," Oh, more than you can imagine."
Ben meanwhile gave the captain a confused look before thinking back to Gwen's earlier monster tirade. Letting out a snort to himself he nudged his Grandma as he chuckled, "Think we'll find that monster Gwen was talking about?" Garnering a good-natured eye roll from his grandmother. However, at the mention of the monster the ship's crew seemed to halt in their paces as they shot the duo a concerned look.
"Sea Monster?" Duane responded as he set down some equipment he had been moving, his tone serious. "What do you know of a sea monster."
"Oh, it's just some dumb story my dweeb of cousin is using to scare us." Ben shrugged with a nonchalant tone, not seeing the catch-the-tone shift from the crew.
"The Krakken is real alright, it's what we came here for." Jack interrupted, Jonah and Duane nodding in agreement. Jack then walked over to Jonah, taking over the wheel and allowing Jonah to approach the duo.
"We're part of the Friends of Fish organization. We research various species of fish and their habitats to find any unique occurrences. When we heard reports of an unknown species of marine life attacking at seeming random we came to investigate." Jonah explained as he reached into a chest pulling out what looked like part of a boat. "I've never been one to believe fairy tales but when a beast tore apart one of our ships looking like something out of this world, well we couldn't not investigate."
"Please, a real sea monster? If it was real why haven't you captured it yet?"
"We're not interested in capture, however, a creature like that needs to be studied, or at least documented so we can find and care for more." Seeing the disbelieving faces of his clients Jonah contemplates for a moment before smiling as he gets an idea. "If you two don't believe me, maybe you'd be interested in getting a look at it yourself. We can take you to the spot it appears at most." Jonah offered.
Ben and Verdona shoot each other a baffled look before shrugging and turning back to Jonah,
"Alright, I guess."
"This should be good."
As they changed course Jack motioned for Ben and Verdona to look at the ship's dashboard as he bragged about their tech. As they accompanied him Duane approached Jonnah, a judgemental look clear even under his glasses. "You sure about this Jonah? You know it can be dangerous, even when we know what we're doing."
"We'll be fine, trust me Duane, I just thought it'd be nice to share this discovery with them, allow them to see this rare beauty." Jonah sighed wistfully.
"Captain! Blockage ahead!" Mark called from the wheel grabbing the two's attention. Approaching the wheelhouse, Jonah stared in shock as they were met with a blockade of buoys and caution tape.
"Oh hoy there sea dogs, if it ain't the fishy friends!" An older voice called as a large boat approached from the other side of the blockade. Aboard the ship stood a smug-looking man. He was an older man with grey hair and sideburns and a clean-shaven face. He wore a fancy-looking tan suit with a white dress shirt underneath along with brown boots and a red baseball cap. He leaned on his ships raiing as he leered over to the smaller ship.
"Well hello there Captain Shaw, care to explain what you're doing blocking off the lake?!" Jonah called through gritted teeth as he forced himself the smile at the man
Shaw simply chuckled as he gave Jonah a knowing grin, "Oh nothing for you to worry about, we'll just be closing off this part of this lake for… ecological care." His tone rank of sarcasm as he barely held back chuckles. "Reports of too many dangers for safety. So we'll be doing some inspection if you don't mind."
However just as he finished his taunts the lake visibly began to shake catching both ships' attention. Just then, I giant sea monster raised from the the lake, letting out a monstrous roar before diving back under the surface, only its dorsal fin visible as it raced to the docks.
"It's headed for the docks!" Jonah cries they all watched the display through some binoculars.
"Gasping Verdona and Ben turned to each other as they got a horrid reminder, "Gwen!"
Gwen for her part had been trying her best to keep calm as she ate some sorbet on the docks, trying not to think of last night's mishaps. However just as she had begun to cool her nerves the all too familiar sea monster burst through the doc sending Gwen and docks patrons flying through the air as wood splintered around them. Eventually, they began falling to the lake below and in a panic, Gwen activated the watch and attempted to dial up one of her aquatic aliens. She was cast in a bright pink glow as she entered the water, the watch's energy causing the water to bubble a bit before dimming down. And when she emerged it was not as any of the aliens she had meant but instead as XLR8.
"What the? XLR8? I need to swim not run!"
As the monsters reemerged Gwen attempted to swim away paddling her legs as quickly as possible, until eventually she began moving faster and faster till she began running on water. She eventually made it to dry land where she rested for a moment before getting ready to run to the safety of the rust bucket, however before she did she heard the screams of terror from the other folk that had landed in the water near the monster. And as much as she wanted to run away she knew she couldn't leave them there. Letting XLR8's mask fall over her face she raced back to the lake, using her incredible speed to wisk civilians away while dodging strikes from the Kraken. Slashing at the beast a couple of times she successfully gathered its attention and was able to get it to follow her as she ran into the greater lake. However, this plan ended up working too well as the beast, paused in its chase, seeming to take whiffs of the air. It then turned to the boats at the blockade before letting out another roar before diving back down below as it darted them.
Try as she might Gwen was unable to keep up with the sea monster in the unfamiliar terrain. It quickly burst out of the water, baring its monstrous form to the terror of the seafarers. Quickly both ships attempted to pilot away from the beast as it rocked the waves nearly capsizing them. However, the beast's focus was seemingly on the grandiose ship of Captain Shaw it attacked the ship fiercely.
In the chaos, it launched its tendrils at a crate resting on the deck of the ship. Gasping in horror Shaw lept on the crate as he tried to punch the Kraken's tendril. Seeing the scene unfold XLR8 raced to the ship where Gwen slid under the monster's maw before delivering a series of supersonic kicks, the attack being enough to cause the beast to real back before letting out a roar as it retreated.
Getting to her feet she saw one of the captain's men help him down from the crate while another seemed to inspect it carefully. Confused by the display of loyalty for the crate Gwen cocked her head as she asked the captain,
"What's so important in that crate that you'd risk your life for it?" XLR8 questioned offhandedly.
To her surprise the captain appeared to become defensive at the question, getting in her face, "What's it to yuh, it's my ship and my property you blue freak. Now buzz off you blue-tailed freak!"
Before she could respond to the aggressive response there was another roar as the Kraken shot back out of the water, causing everyone to fall over. It then grabbed the crate before, seemingly definitely, diving back under, its treasure in tow.
And just to add to the trouble the badge began to beep green signaling the end of her transformation. Hissing out, "Well since you insist." XLR8 raced off the boat and to the ship she had seen her grandma and cousin board.
She nearly made it, but just as she got close she could hear the timer let out its last BEEP BEEP BWOOP, and suddenly she found herself in her human form being tossed across the lake like some psychotic skipping stone. Luckily she managed to bounce just far enough that Verdona was able to get the FOF to toss her a lifesaver and bring her aboard.
—-
After an awkward explanation where she tried to explain how she got out into the lake without mentioning the watch, Gwen was officially done with this whole fishing trip. Being yelled at by an ungrateful sea dog, being nearly made a sea-monster's snack, and just the unpleasantness of this lake in general it's safe to say she was ready to just get out of here.
"Get out of here? Are you nuts?" Ben scolded Gwen when she aired her frustrations, "That thing is still out there! What if someone gets?"
"Not our issue, let the authorities deal with it. I'm not becoming fish food." Gwen rebuffed in annoyance. She looked to her grandma for support, only for her to give her an awkward look.
"Ben's right dear. We're the only ones reasonably equipped to deal with that thing. We should at least stick around in case things escalate."
"Are-Are you kidding Me!?" Gwen practically shrieked as she stamped the ground in frustration. She then stormed off into the Rustbucket, slamming the door behind her as Verdona looked on in bafflement.
Ben scowled at the tantrum, "Ugh, all that power and she can't be bothered to think of anyone but herself, typical." Ben muttered to himself. However, as he did so he saw the FOF reconvene by the docks as they talked between themselves. And as they murmured Ben could hear bits and pieces of a conversation, one that gave him an idea.
—-
Late that night after Gwen and Verdona had gone to sleep Ben crept out of bed and out of the Rustbucket. He snuck down the dock, being careful to stay out of sight. Eventually, he saw what he was looking for, the FOF secretly boarding their ship after hours to sneak out onto the lake. "If Gwen doesn't want to help, then I will." Ben whispered to himself. Eventually, the FOF set sail and made its way across the water as the FOF discussed their research and their plans amongst themselves. However, as they were halfway through the journey a bucket fell from a pile of supplies at seeming random. From the other end of that pile, a terrified Ben sat frozen hoping to not be noticed. Just when it seemed that Jonah had left the young boy peaked his head out from the pile and saw that the cost was clear. Taking that as his cue he snuck away from the pile, only to be cut off by a cough. Turning his head ever so slightly he saw a cocky Jonah kneeling in front of the pile, giving him a semi frustrated semi amused glare. "Um? First mate Tennyson reporting for duty... sir?" Ben chuckled cautiously.
"Kid, what are you doing here?" Jonah scolded.
Getting to his feet Ben simply placed his hands on his hip as he replied confidently, "I'm here to help" Jonnah was less than amused.
"We don't need help kid, besides this could turn dangerous." He then grabbed Ben by the arm to the helm, he ordered Jack. "Turn around we need to bring this kid back.
"It's too late, we turn back now we may not have another shot." The aforementioned FOF member replied as he carefully steered the ship.
Rubbing his face Jonnah gave Ben a done expression, "Fine, don't cause trouble kid."
Walking in donning a diving suit Duane approached holding some form tech in his hand, "Not seeing any signs of the Kraken nearby."
"Good, maybe we can see what's got 'em riled up." Jonah commented as he began preparing diving gear.
"Maybe I should go with you? Y'know, just in case?" Ben asserted with a worried expression.
"No need. Just wish us luck." Jonnah said as put on his mask before diving in with his crew. As the FOF dives through the lake they admire the aquatic life around them. However, as they reached the floor Duane spotted an unfamiliar sight and motioned Jonah and Jack to follow. Once at the bottom the FOF are shocked to find a nest of three eggs, eggs that looked nothing like they've ever seen before. The crew gave each other mutual looks of realization however as they did so Jonah spotted a figure in the distance swimming at the. Expecting the worst he yanked out a knife from its holster and prepared to defend himself from the possible threat. Only for Ben in a bright red diving suit, one he noted as being a spare they had on the ship, to come into frame. Giving an unamused look to Ben he motioned for him to look at the nest. Ben stared at it for a hot moment, but eventually, a look of horror flashed across his face. Clearly in agreement on the scene's implications, they began to swim up, the more experienced FOF getting there much quicker than Ben. However, as they breached the surface the lights of the large ship nearly blinded the crew, with Jonah motioning Ben to stay out of sight.
"Need a hand?" A man offered as he gave Jonah his hand. Taking the offer Jonah took the hand as he was helped aboard the ship, only for him to receive the top of a cane, slamming into his stomach causing him to keel over. Meanwhile, Duane and Jack were detained by Jonah's other men.
"Don't you know night diving is not allowed in this here lake, son? Why, as owner of this here lake I have half a mind to call the authorities on you." Shaw smirked at the kneeling Jonah, not noticing as Ben resurfaced behind some rocks just out of view of Shaw but still able to see the scene going down.
"I'm sorry sir, we were just checking out the wildlife at night." Jonah replied between heavy breaths.
"Ah, I see." Shaw replied as he relaxed on his cane, lording over Jonah, "And perchance, did you see anything down there? Hm?"
Jonah gulped, as he tried to give Shaw a placating smile. "Oh, uh, you know, nothin' new. Just the same as always."
"Ah, I see." Shaw replied, tossing the cane in his hand before using it to backhand Jonah in the head knocking him out as his guards did the same, "Sorry... I butt I'll have to be sure."
"Oh Man!" Ben whispered yelping in horror from his hiding place as he saw the scene go down, desperately trying to cause as little motion as possible, lest he notifies Shaw of his presence.
"Take the tadpole club with us. Find out if they know anything back at the Cannery. We'll come back later with a mini-sub to snatch the rest of the eggs." Shaw ordered as he prepped a large tracker before tossing it into the lake. He then grabbed another device, one that he threw onto the FOF's ship "In the meantime, I think this boat just got lost at sea." They then sped away as the device detonated causing the ship to erupt as debris flew through the air.
Ben just barely managed to dodge the debris and in the panic decided to make a break for land. However, his efforts were cut off as viney tendrils wrapped around his waist as he was hoisted into the air. After getting over his surprise he turned to see his captor, "Dweeb." Gwen growled in her VenusVerde form, her giant eye glaring at her cousin.
Steeling his nerves Ben pointed to the fleeing ship "Yell at me later. Shaw just kidnapped the FOF! We have to save them!"
Glaring ahead at the fleeing ship letting out a sigh as she lifted Ben to place him on her back. "Ugh fine." She then extended her arms to the trees as she swung from branch to branch as she chased after the ship
As she got in range of the ship she readied three of her viney legs before shooting them down at the ship. However, as she came into the view of the ship she was noticed by Shaww's guards who began to open fire on the alien causing her to retreat both in pain and fear of Ben getting shot while he was on her back.
"It's getting too crowded around here." Shaw said to his men as he motioned his cane to the unconscious FOF, "Dump the trash overboard." Following Shaw's order, his men hoisted the men overboard sending them into the lake below.
As the men began to sink VenusVerde shot a set of viney tendrils down into the water wrapping around their waist. She then yanked them out as she began to swing from the trees. "Got Em!"
"Good now head to RV!" Ben instructed, earning a stink eye from VenusVerde. However, she followed suit and began swinging from the branches back in the direction of the RV, keeping an impressive pace. However, as she got in range of the RV, so much so that she was able to spot her grandma watching her from some binoculars, she was greeted by a familiar sound.
BEEP BEEP BEEP Bwoop
"Aw, Come On!" Transforming mid-swing VenusVerde returned to Gwen, Ben still on her back, as the FOF flew threw the air just below them. Screaming as they rapidly descended they were lucky enough to just barely make it into the RV's sunshade, cushioning their fall, though even so, they groaned in unease as their grandmother observed the scene from down below.
—-
After a quick explanation of what Ben had witnessed the Tennysons brought the FOF down from the sunshade and into the RV where two of the FOF were placed on towels on Ben and Gwen's cots while Jonnah was placed on one of the benches.
After all that was done, however, Verdona wasn't willing to let this little late-night adventure go unexplained. "Why would you sneak out on your own? You could've gotten hurt."
"People were already in danger of being hurt." Ben retorted. "I wasn't about to stand by and do nothing!" As he said that he leveled a not-so-subtle glare at Gwen who returned the energy, tho after a second of silence she turned away as she began working away at her laptop.
"Besides seeing as I did go we now know more! Shaw's clearly doing something to the eggs! It's no wonder she's been attacking everything!"
I think I know what he's doing." Gwen gasped as she turned her laptop to face her family, "Three years ago Captain Jim Shaw made headlines for auctioning off the tooth of what was thought to be a long-extinct megafauna whose fossilized tooth he claimed to find. The following year he officially purchased the rights to this lake and ever since he's sold off supposed remnants of old aquatic megafauna" She cupped her chin as she thought back to the Kraken attack from before. "I bet that crate, the Krakken took off their boat, had her egg in it!"
"Wait what crate?" Ben inquired, not remembering any attacks on the crate before the FOF, Verdona, and him escaped the scene.
"When the Kraken had attacked the docks I got her to chase me into the greater river. Once away from all the people and food she must've picked up on the sent of her eggs and went and attacked Shaw's ship. I managed to ward her off but she got the crate anyway. And when I asked what was so important about the crate he got defensive." I'm willing to bet that some of her eggs were in that crate, and he was planning to sell them off as another big Paleontological discovery, preserved eggs of a thought to be extinct species could net him thousands."
"Then that settles it." Verdona asserted as she stood up. "We have to stop Shaw's fishy business one and for all."
Ben smirked at the pun while Gwen groaned before realizing an error in their plan, " Wait, how are we supposed to get to their base? Ben said the FOF's boat was blown to kingdom come by Shaw."
As if on cue a groan came from Jonah's mouth as sluggishly awoke, tho his staggered movements didn't inspire much confidence in his condition. The family raced over to his side where he shakingly handed Verdona a small key. "I, I overheard what you said about Shaw. My crew isn't in any shape to fight, But we do have a spare dinghy near the dock, please, someone has to stop that man, the harm he is doing that poor creature is unforgivable. He can't be allowed to profit off of that soul's suffering." Taking the key Verdona nodded to the kids before they all sprinted from the RV.
—-
After finding the boat the Tennysons made their way to Shaw's base of operations. Moving quietly they made their way to a dock leading into the building. "Come on kids," Verdona ordered quietly as she grabbed the ladder, motioning for Ben to begin climbing.
"You two go ahead without me." Gwen interjected much to Ben's eire.
"Seriously!?" He whisper yelled, "After everything you want to do nothing!"
Gwen scowled at the rebuff, "Hello Doffus I am going to do something." Gwen hissed as she motioned for the watch, "Just need to get my swimsuit on." She then activated the watch, twisting its dial as it irradiated its brilliant pink glow. Smiling as she saw the alien she wanted she slammed the watch.

RIPJAWS TRANSFORMATION
Gwen's arm extended as pale blue scales raced across her arms
She then grimaced as her face morphed and a lure broke through her forehead
Her neck begins to inflate as gills emerged from her neck
Gwen's cheeks puff up as her lips and eyebrows grew turning along with her thinning hair
Her eyes shut tightly before opening, now rounder and glossy with predatory pupils as a pair of catfish-like whiskers pop out from the side of her face
As the transformation ended Gwen stood as a fish woman with pale blue scales and a long dark blue tail skirt with green lines on it. She had large green fins resembling hair. She wore a blue top that covered her shoulders and chest, the watch's symbol placed on the center of her chest.
—
With the transformation ended Gwen stood on the rocking dinghy as she basked in the watch's glow, turning to face her cousin she uttered a simple but raspy, "Dweeb."
Staring at her for a moment he simply nodded, "Go get em Sublure." She then divided under the lake, only the light of her lure being dimly visible through the water. Climbing up the ladder Ben and Verdona snuck aboard the cannery, as they snuck their way through Verdona suddenly paused before motioning for Ben to stop. Doing as told Ben hears the sound of approaching steps. Quickly Verdona made a variety of hand gestures attempting to communicate with Ben, only to receive a dumbfound expression in response. "Is you're hand ok Grandma?"
Hearing the remark the approaching guard quickly turned the corner, aiming a gun at the two intruders. Putting on her best mean face Verdona got into a battle-ready stance, "All right Sony we can do this the easy way or the hard way!"
However, before the guard could respond the building began to shake as a giant Kraken fin tore through the floor. Taking the opportunity Verdona yelled to Ben, "Go High!" They then latched onto some sliding hooks and managed to ram into the guard causing them to land on their back, allowing Ben to jump onto them, making sure they were well defeated.
"Was that the easy way or the hard way?"

Back above only moments before, Shaw had been instructing his men on ensuring the eggs were safely stored. However just as one of his men began moving the minisub to place the eggs in a crate The Kraken burst from the lake tearing at the floorboards as it smashed the deck, ripping boxes off the floor in search of her eggs.
Not willing to risk his life for the cause the man in the sub climbed out before running for cover. Cursing under his breath Shaw climbed into into the sub himself, ready to fight back against the Kraken, however just then Sublure leaped from the water and grabbed hold of the machine, her claws piercing its steel. In response Shaw fought back with the suit's giant robot arms, swiping at Sublure. Eventually, the commotion caused the mechanism holding the suit up to break sending both of them down into the depths below.
The fall knocked the eggs out of his claws allowing Gwen to grab them, Stuffing one in her oversized mouth and holding the other one tightly in her hands she raced across the water as Shaw made chase in his suit while the Kraken followed noticing the commotion and spotting her eggs in the heroes mouth and hands.
A giant metal claw robotic hand swooped down as it delivered a blow to Gwen's back, knocking the wind out of her and causing he to drop the eggs. Seizing the opportunity Shaw grabbed the, shooting Sublure a smirk, and jettisoning away. Regaining her barrings Sublure made chase, tearing through the water as she swam after the escaping Shaw. She bared her claws as she dug her nails in, piercing its metal. Shaw attempted to swat her away but in his haste, he unthinkingly let go of the eggs. Seeing the opportunity Gwen let go of Shaw as she raced down and grabbed the eggs. Not wasting a moment she raced away while the Kraken quickly followed seeing the stranger as a threat. Not one to let his prey escape so easily Shaw pressed a button in his suit causing it to let out a loud sonic pulse that rattled both Sublure and the Kraken who felt the sonic pulse so badly that they visibly reeled in pain. Seeing the Kraken in pain Gwen dropped the eggs and quickly reached for a nearby anchor before twirling it above her head and using its chain as a lasso to nab Shaw. Causing him to stop the sonic pulse.
Seeing the Kraken begin to recover Gwen acted quickly, grabbing the eggs before racing downwards, not daring to look back as she could feel the sea beast begin making chase. Through her gills, she took a quick breath before swooping down and placing the Kraken eggs in front of the mother. Seemingly realizing Gwen's intent the Kraken visibly relaxed as she gave the fish girl what seemed to be a thankful look as she swooped down to her eggs.
Shaw broke out of the chains and restarted his thrusters to continue the fight, only as he looked up he saw The Krakken staring back at him. The Kraken grabbed his vessel with its tendrils. It then crushed and tore open the vessel. Seeing a harpoon float down Shaww, in a last-ditch attempt to save himself, grabbed the harpoon and tried to fire it at the beast, to no real effect. The Beast roared as it readied to bite down on the crooked man, however Sublure raced in front of Shaw, holding her body in front of him as she gave Kraken an understanding but pointed look. Seeming to respect Gwen's wishes The Kraken swam away.
Once she brought Shaw up to the surface she hung him on a broken piece of the dock as police boats could be seen nearby, "Try anything fishy and I'll let the Kraken take Krack at you."
—-
As the Tennyson's returned to the RV they were met with an awake if groggy FOF. "If you're here I take it you were successful?" Jonah questioned as he approached Verdona. "Yeah, luckily we had some help. I'll catch you all up over a cup of Joe." Verdona replied as she stepped back into the Rustbucket, Ben beginning to fallow before Gwen tugged at his sleeve.
"Hey, can we talk?" Gwen asked, her tone serious but lacking its usual aggression.
Yeah." Ben replied with an almost shyness in his voice. "Look I'm sorry for what I said earlier. About you not being willing to help. I was wrong. So you know sorry I guess." Ben awkwardly grunted out.
"Actually, I was gonna say that you were right." Gwen blurted out, "I was thinking about myself earlier. I was so scared of the Kraken that I nearly abandoned that poor thing to be exploited by Shaw. So you know, thanks for calling me out on that."
.
.
.
"Ok, this weird." Ben quipped awkwardly, not sure how to handle him and Gwen talking like functioning people, "We uh cool?"
"Well, I wouldn't say cool." Gwen teased with a smirk. " But we're certainly not any worse than we usually are."
"Yeah, that tracks. Come on Dweeb I've had enough of the smell of seaweed." Ben joked as he and Gwen went in to join the celebration.
