CH 23
Few hours later they received a may day call and since one one else responded they responded back so they change course to help the boat that broken down. Later that afternoon Buffer walk towards the back of the boat to where Nikki is.
"Hey are you ok"
"Yeah, I'm going to miss this"
"i know you are but it only for a year eighteen months then you will be on another patrol boat or a frigate"
"I know, plus there us, our family"
"True, but what ever happens, you know I love you"
"i know, I love you to"
Pete pull Nikki into his arms as they watch the sun set together not knowing that bomber saw them together hugging and buffer kissing Nav which shock her. So she turn around and walk back the way she came. She went to see Kate who was in the officer mess with mike.
"sir, ma'am, can I talk to you"
"sure bomber what is it" Mike said.
Bomber walk in "I... I saw buffer and Nav on the back of the boat, they were...hugging and kissing"
"so you came to us to report what you saw" Kate said
"Yes X"
"Has any one on this ship told you about buffer and Nav?"
"no ma'am"
"Nav is buffer wife. She only on here cause she done the course us officers and senor sailors did at Watson bay."
"But it against the rules about married couples serving together"
"that is true. Buffer and Nav got married two weeks ago. And when we return Nav will be having a shore posting while buffer remains on here" Mike said
"Ok but why didn't she fly back to Cairns when the course was over"
"Cause I ask fleet command permission, they granted it since buffer help us take down Rick Gallagher few weeks back"
"the crab toxin"
"Yes. Buffer trusted Nav and this crew if some thing went wrong"
"Ok I under stand sir, is there any thing else I should know"
"Yes, X here is my wife" Bomber look at them in shock
"Dose fleet command knows this sir" Kate smile
"Sit down bomber we will tell you every thing and yes fleet command know, they were the ones who sent me to be the next XO" bomber sat down
"I don't under stand, the next XO"
Mike and Kate tell bomber every thing so she knows what going on. When they finish telling her, she was shock
"wow, no wounder this crew is the best. Who going to replace Nav?"
"there will be a new navigator when we return back to cairns"
"ok, thanks for telling me every thing sir, X" bomber said as she stood up.
"If you got any questions, don't hesitate to ask us" Mike said
"thanks sir" then she turn and walk out of the room.
The next day the crew was looking forward to returning home after being away for the past two weeks cause of the courses and extra training that they had to do. When they were coming into the channel they leads towards cairns harbor and docks. They saw number of pleasure crafts about.
"sir what going on" spider asked
"Hammersley is the first boat here in Cairns to be up graded after thirty five years" Mike said
When they were close to the navy docks. Kate walk over and use the EDO to zoom on to the people who on the docks.
"sir you might want to take a look at this" mike got up from his seat and walk over to where Kate is.
"Steve knew when we were coming in X"
"but the whole NAVCOM as well"
"No more like the crews from the other patrol boats"
"Ok" Mike return back to his seat then start giving out orders.
Steve and the other personal watch as Hammersley comes into port and the way it dock. Once done and ropes and gangway was in place. Steve walk onto Hammersley just as Kate walk from behind the HRIBS. She stood at attention and saluted Steve which he did in return
"Welcome aboard Hammersley sir"
"thank you lieutenant, what do you think of the new patrol boat"
"It a lot bigger and more room sir"
"that it is"
"Are you here to see the captain or tour sir" Steve smile
"both lieutenant"
"Yes sir, if you follow me sir, I'll give you the tour"
"thank you" Steve follow Kate to the bridge where she show him what is what.
He was impress with the size of the bridge and Kate knowledge. Then she show him the lower decks then mike cabin last since he was in there typing on his lap top
"sir" mike turn around and stood up
"Steve come on in" Steve walk in and look around
"It sure look bigger than the older boat"
"Yes it is and even got my own on suite"
"I've seen the blue prints" he walk over and open the bathroom door and look in
"I'm quiet impress" then he close the door and turn to mike and Kate
"thank you sir"
"any problems"
"none, X was there any problems"
"no sir, but Nav and I do enjoy having hot showers sir" Steve and mike grin
"that good to know lieutenant"
"Yes sir, I'll leave you two to talk, while I'll go and get change" Kate said as she turn around and walk out of Mike cabin.
"How was the course mike"
"It like being back in ADFA studying for tests and exams at once. But we did good and pass"
"I know I've read the reports from Watson bay. I notice lieutenant McGregor got highest marks while there" mike smile
"Well she loves to study, when she wasn't reading her manuals she was reading mine, plus every thing about Hammersley"
"Well she did great"
"True"
"i notice you doing up a report"
"May day call we attended to couple hours ago"
"ok, I'll leave you to it"
"thanks Steve" Steve walk out of mike cabin then stop and look around
"Left Steve and up the steps" mike said smiling
"thanks Mike" Steve walk away while Mike return back to his reports.
When Kate was just about to open her and Nav cabin door when she heard low voices and giggling coming from her cabin. So she look both ways before opening the door to see Pete in there with Nikki who was only in her under wear. Kate step in and quickly close the door
"buffer what are you doing here"
"Helping Nikki X"
"doing what"
"Removing her clothes" Nikki slap his arm
"not all of them Pete, now can I please get dress then we can go home"
"Yes ma'am" he said smiling at her
"buffer why don't you wait for Nav on the wharf" Kate said
"ok" Pete pick up his bag and walk pass them and open the door and walk out closing it behind him.
"He impatient" Kate laugh
"i know what you mean" Kate said as she started to get change her self.
"going to the pub tonight" Nav asked
"Depends of how mike and I are feeling, you"
"Same here" they talk while getting change.
Once done and bags are pack they walk out of the cabin while laughing. Kate went to see Mike while Nikki walk towards one of the exits and onto the wharf where Pete is waiting for her.
"Let's go home" Pete said
"Why not" they walk away with there arms around each other.
When Kate walk into mike cabin he just close his lap top down as he stood up
"Ready to go home" mike asked
"Yes" Mike close his cabin door then he started removing his overalls while talking to Kate.
Once he was change and sea bag was pack they left to go home. Kate called for a taxi to take her and mike home.
When buffer and Nav walk pass the Security guard hut, Buffer got his phone out to call for a taxi when there was a toot of a horn.
"Pete" He close his phone when the car pulled up
"Hey welcome home"
"thanks Heidi, where Tom?"
"At home" Nikki got into the front seat and Pete got into the back after Nikki pass him her sea bag.
"How was nick?"
"He great as always, but he doesn't know that you two were returning today"
"ok"
"I got some good and bad news" Heidi said
"What is it" Nikki asked as Heidi drove into town
"Bad news is that the land lord put our rent up. When he gave me the notice, I was shock"
"how much" Nikki asked
"Extra seventy five a week"
"what that day light robbery" buffer said
"i know but then he issue us another letter three days later, he wants us out by tomorrow"
"How long have you known, you should of call me" Nikki said in shock
"Over a week. I know Tom and I should of called you but we know what you two were doing is important."
"but you still should of called"
"i did, I called mum and dad about it, they suggested that we start looking around even talk to the staff at NAVCOM to see if they know of a place"
"And did you find a place?" Nikki asked.
"Yes thanks to NAVCOM. I don't know how it was possible but remember all that land not far from Mike and Kate place" Heidi asked
"Yes I remember seeing old fashion homes being put on there, why" buffer said
"Well one of those homes is where we move to"
"your joking but how?"
"Well it seams that the owner of all those houses brought them from Sydney and Brisbane since the previous owners wanted to get rid of them so they could build a new state of the art home. So the new owner brought them and had them moved up to here and had then fix up and rented out"
"how do you know this" Nikki asked
"commander Marshal told me and that the owner will only rent them out to navy families since it hard to find a rental place where the owner would let them leave on short notice cause of navy transferred personal on short notice"
"that true" Nikki said
"Have you got a place got us then"
"Oh even better, you and Pete got your own place"
"what about you and Tom"
"We have as well next door. The owner letting us rent one of the homes cause one Tom ex navy and two we looking after Nick while you guys are out on patrol"
"what about rent"
"that the best part, we paying way less than where we use to live"
"Really how many bedrooms?" Pete asked
"Five double bedroom, three and half bathroom house with double garage"
"how big are the bedrooms?" Nikki asked
"It about a meter, meter and a half bigger and it got the old twelve foot stud ceiling"
"Really that great"
"Yes it is and what great is they it got big doors so it a lot easy for Tom to get through them and the bathroom is half times bigger that the one we had and it got a wide ramp in the front and back"
"wow I can't wait to check out your place" Nikki said laughing.
"Wait till you see your place, it almost twice as big as the one we in"
"how many bedrooms?" Pete asked
"Two story Seven double bedrooms, four bathrooms, that just up stairs, with two guests bedroom and onsuite between them and half a bathroom, double garage that can hold four cars. Wait till you see it"
"Is that where we are going now?" Nikki said
"Yes and the owner he gone through some rental place in town who takes care of the owners rental property. The guy said that you can move in after I explain where you both are and he had it confirmed with commander Marshal. All you need to do is show up at his business place on tomorrow to sign the papers and pay for the depots. I've already got the papers, they at home"
"Ok so when did you move in?" Pete asked
"Over the weekend, all the family showed up after tom talk to mum and dad. They showed up Saturday morning and started packing every thing up and move every thing in to the two homes soon as they know who belongs to who and the brought down all your wedding gifts as well"
"That was good of them" Pete said
"Yes it was" When Heidi slow down she turn down a drive way then stop out side the garage.
"Wow I see what you mean it a nice place" Nikki said as they got out of the car.
"Yes it is, I'll be back" she walk towards the back door of the house and in side.
While Pete and Nikki look around till Heidi walk back out side again. "Here the papers and keys to your place" she pass them to Nikki
"thanks which one is it"
"that one" she pointed to the house behind them
"thanks"
"go on you two, check the place out and Pete don't for get to carry her over the thresh hold" Heidi said smiling
"i won't" She watch them walk down the drive way while talking.
When they walk along the street and up the path and steps to the front door, they could see how big the house is. Nikki use the key to unlock the front door then she open it She was just about to step in side when Pete scoop her up in his arms
"Pete" she said in shock then saw him grin
"I'm carrying my bride over the thresh hold" then he walk in side and stop when they saw the living room.
"wow" Nikki said as Pete put her feet on the ground. Then he close and lock the door
"Yeah this room twice as big as in the other house" Pete said.
They walk into the living room to see all of Pete future every where. They went to check out the guest bedrooms then They check out the kitchen to see boxes of kitchen stuff on there as well stuff from Nikki hen party.
Then they check out the rest of the house till they stop at a close door with a sign on it 'Master bedroom' Nikki open the door then walk in with Pete behind her. They stop when they saw what was in there bedroom
"oh my god" Nikki said.
There was king size bed with dark timber head board, with bed side draws to match as well a nine draw dresser and mirror with the edging done in the same timber. There was two, seven draw scotch chest and one eight scotch draws since the top draw was put into two. They notice a fold up small table in front of one of the bed side draws with an ice bucket and bottle of wine in it and two champagne glasses and bowl of strawberries and other snacks.
"This is what we were planing on buying" Nikki said as she step further into the bedroom
"i know, is that silk" Nikki look at the bedding and step ford and ran her hand over it
"Yes it is. I wounder who got us this"
"We will have to ask Heidi, but for now" he turn Nikki around and push her onto the bed then he was on top of her
"For now I rather spend the rest of the day with you" then he bend down and kiss Nikki.
"Mmm I like the way you think Pete, I wounder what it like to make love in between silk sheets"
"there only one way to find out" then he kiss her once more.
They remove each other clothes as they move the covers from the bed and got in where they spent the day making love and drinking the champagne and eating the strawberries then snuggling in each other arms as they look at each other with smiles on there faces.
"It sure feels different" Nikki said
"Yes it dose but it sure feels great"
"Yes it dose" then she kiss him then snugged up to his side.
"I wounder who the owner of this place is"
"Who knows Nikki, but there is one thing we will need to do" she turn to look at him
"what that Pete"
"furniture for Nick"
"I agree, we can do that tomorrow"
"Why not now" Nikki smile as she roll till she was lying on top of Pete and kiss him
"Cause I got other things on my mine" then she sat up and do what she normal dose to Pete before they made love again.
They spent the day in bed talking and making love over, and over again till they fall sleep in each other arms.
When Mike and Kate arrived home they went to do there normal things before having a shower together and making love while in there then again in bed an hour later before falling asleep in each other arms.
Later that night both couples arrived at the pub at the same time. "How was your day Kate"
"busy you"
"Very busy, got plenty of exercises and rest, you" Nikki said smiling
"Same here" Kate said smiling
Kate and Nikki walk out side to where the crew is while Mike and Pete got them a drink then join the crew out side. They spent the next few hours talking and laughing while having dinner and drinks. Nikki stood up and went into to use the ladies room.
When she return she walk up to the bar since it was busy and waited to be serve. "Hello" she turn to a guy with red hair and green eyes who smiling at her
"hi" Nikki said
"would you like a drink ma'am"
"I'm ok thank you"
"I'm offering to buy you a drink"
"I said no thank you" then she step forward when two guys walk away from the bar with there drinks
"what will it be"
"Beer on tap any any thing this lady wants" Nikki turn to the guy then the bar tender
"I'll have two long neck beers thanks and I'll be paying for my own beer"
"ok" then the bar tender went to get the drinks
"Two beers" He said
"Yes, have you got a problem with that?"
"no"
When the bar tender return, Nikki paid for the two beers then she pick them up and turn around when the guy said
"Care to join me, we could talk"
"no thank you" Nikki said then she walk out side and sat down next to Pete passing him his beer. The guy watch what Nikki dose but didn't see her pass beer to Pete.
Hour later Mike, Kate, Nikki and Pete left for there own homes leaving the others to enjoy them selves. The next day Pete and Nikki went into town for some breakfast since there was nothing in the house.
They went and did some shopping as well go to the rental place with the papers and check for the bond on the house. Once that was done they did some more shopping before returning home that afternoon. After every thing was put away.
They started sorting out the living room and kitchen first. Then they sorted out the stuff in the bedrooms. They stop to have some dinner then they carry on working for couple of hours before going to bed for the night.
The next day they finish sorting out all there things and the truck arrived with new furniture that they were planing on trading in for. Once that was done. They spent the afternoon relaxing while going through all there mail and to send thank you cards to every one for there gifts.
