CH 40
Fifteen minutes later all but the skipper was put onto Hammersley. Mike, Buffer and number of armed crew members including Kate and flipper were on the pleasure craft. They head to another island where Ray Walsmen is while Nikki was left in charge with Hammersley. Buffer was in the wheel house with the skipper and mike.
"sir, Ray Walsmen is mine"
"I know buffer" Skipper turn to Pete
"you the sailor that Ray Walsmen wanted dead"
"Yes and my wife"
"your captain told me, he said she due"
"Yes in two weeks"
"Ok"
"Why did you join Ray Walsmen group" buffer asked
"money, jobs are hard to get and with a family"
"Did you know about the attempted murder and kidnapping" Buffer asked
"no, if I known I would of left, I got a family my self"
"Yeah well looks like you might have to look for another job"
"Yeah your right" Mike keep in contact with Nikki the whole time.
When they saw the large barge boat they headed strait for it when they heard Ray Walsmen on the radio "Did you pick him up"
"Yes we got him on board"
"did he do the job"
"I don't know I didn't ask"
"Ask him" skipper turn to mike
"what do I say"
"tell him that the sailor is dead but the wife is alive, unable to get to her"
"I spoke to him he said the sailor dead but the wife is alive" the skipper said over the radio
"what do you mean alive, he didn't follow my orders" Ray said yelling over the radio
"He couldn't get to her she had crew members with her at all times"
"Alright at least the buffer is dead. Soon as you stop next to my boat tell the guys to get on board and for you to return to to my private island"
"Yes sir" the skipper said.
"you did good" buffer said.
When they next to ray Walsmen boat the crew jump onto it just as the fire fight started. The crew manage to shoot some of the men that was on board the others surrendered.
Once the top deck and wheel house was check and the men arrested some of the crew went down below to check the rest of the boat out when they heard over the ship radio that the guy who wanted to become president was trying to contact Ray Walsmen telling him that the Samaru island army and the SAS have shot a number of men that Ray hired and others surrendered.
Buffer found Ray Walsmen when he try to shoot buffer only to get him in the vest. Lucky he was wearing double plates. Buffer went after Ray trying to wounded him. Then Ray shot back till he ran out of bullets. Then Ray try to fight buffer like last time. Buffer punish Ray Walsmen a number of times till he was unconscious. By then Mike and ET was in the engine room where they found buffer and Ray on the floor.
"buffer are you ok" mike asked
"Yes sir" Buffer stood up and walk pass them when every one heard over the radio
"charlie eight two, Nikki it over"
"Pete"
"I got him"
"That great news"
"Yes it is"
"Ah Pete" Nikki said with a worried tone
"Nikki what wrong" buffer was getting worried
"Ah I just wet the captain seat sorry sir, my water just broke" Every one was shock.
Then mike started giving out orders just as Ray Walsmen came to. Mike and ET pick him up and took him up to the boat deck just as two HRIBS showed up.
Mike got one of the crew to go on the boat with the skipper and have them to head to cairns then Mike for three crew to take the boat they on back to Cairns while every one else return to Hammersley.
Buffer and swain was on the first HRIB, they headed back with some of the men that was arrested since Hammersley stop not to far away. Once they were back on the ship some of the other crew took care of the men while swain and buffer headed to the ward room where RO is with Nikki. When buffer and Swain walk into the ward room Nikki was on the bed panting.
"RO I'll need to talk to fleet medical" Swain said
"i contacted Melbourne they three hours away. JJ got the concordant so soon as every one on board he know which way to go" Nikki said
"Ok"
"RO go and let the captain know about Melbourne" Nikki said
"Yes Ma'am" RO walk out of the ward room while Pete and Swain remove there gear and put it on the seater bed just as Nikki sat up
"Nikki what are you doing"
"Removing the wet overalls"
"Here let me" Pete said.
He help her remove the boots and then the overalls. Swain left to get a sheet and blanket plus other items then he return with them. He saw Nikki on the bed with the overall over her hips. So swain put the sheet over her and buffer move the overalls away, he wrap them up in a bundle and put it on top of the gear. Then swain went and put an IV line in as well check Nav BP as well time her contractions just as they heard the engines start up.
"You doing good Nikki" Pete said
"I know, how your hand"
"It fine" While they talking bomber knock then walk in
"doctor on Melbourne is on the line Swain" she pass him the head set which he put it on and talk to the Melbourne doctor to tell him what was happening.
"Nav I have to see how far dilated you are"
"Ok" Nikki said Swain bend over and lifted the sheet then he put it down as she straiten up
"sir she seven centimeters dilated... yes I've deliver before... ok thank you" then he remove the head set
"doctor said it could be an hour to five hours before you fully dilated"
"Well at least it would be better than forty eight hours" Nikki said
"Nikki that that other problem, remember"
"what problem" Pete look at swain.
"When Nikki had Nick they had to cut in side her so he could be born."
"Oh that could be a problem, how big was he"
"eight pounds two ounces. This one is over nine pounds" Pete said
"I'll let the doctor know" Swain walk over to the phone to call the bridge then he spoke to the doctor on Melbourne about the problem then he hung up and turn to Nikki and Pete.
"the doctor is aware of of this, he spoke to your doctor once he learn that you gone in to labor"
"that good to know" Nikki said.
Over the next three hours Nikki contractions were getting closer. Swain keep the doctor on Melbourne up to date every half an hour till Melbourne was close to Hammersley where both ships stop. Nikki was standing up with her arms around Pete neck.
Pete was rubbing her back with one hand while holding the sheet with the other. Bomber was in the room with them since swain needed to use the head then go and talk to the doctor who arrived on Hammersley.
"Pete I want to push now" She said when a contraction started
"not yet Nikki, just breath, that it" Nikki breath in and out as she ride the pain till it gone
"The contractions are a minute apart" bomber said
"I know" then the door open, they turn to see the doctor and two of his staff and swain walk into the ward room.
"bomber" Swain asked
"minute apart and closing, she want to push now"
"I need to check to see how far dilated you are lieutenant" the doctor said
"she fully dilated I check a minute ago" Bomber said
"Ok lets get you on to the bed"
then Nikki started to breath again so they waited till it pass then Buffer help her back onto the bed while the doctor got every thing set up when they heard the engines start up again. The doctor use the portable ultra sound machine to check to see if every thing ok
"Baby head is in the canal. Now lieutenant I'll have to..."
"i know, do it"
the doctor injected in Nick cervix then he cut where he saw the scars from when she had Nick. While he was doing that, Swain was put a drip up and hook it to Nikki IV line.
When done "Ok lieutenant, when your ready, you push" the doctor said.
Nikki try to sit up to push so swain walk around the other side of the bed helping Nikki to sit up since buffer was doing the same on the other side as she started to push. Nikki grab both swain and Pete free hand as she push and squeezing there hand at the same time. Then she relax for a few seconds then she done it again then scream
"that it you doing great" Then she push three more times
"Your crowning, keep going" Pete move so he could take a look
"wow I can see the head" Pete said smiling then he move back just as Nikki started pushing and screaming again.
"This it, the head is out" Pete went to look then return
"Baby got my hair"
"what no hair" Swain said making Nikki laugh
"no it brown"
"Oh I thought..." Nikki scream once again as she push.
"come on you can do it" the doctor said
"No kidding" then she push and scream
"Shoulder is out" Pete went to look then return just as Nikki started to push again and again.
When she started breathing "I'm so tired"
"you doing great Nikki, I'm prod of you" Pete said as he kiss her sweaty forehead.
"Lieutenant I just need one big push" the doctor said
"I know that you idiot" then she scream
"Push Nikki, you can do it" Pete said
Then Nikki took a deep breath and she push "Shoulder out" the doctor said just as Nikki scream.
Pete went to look to see the second shoulder was out. Then the baby came out easy into the doctor hands then they heard the baby wail for the first time
"congratulations it a girl" then they heard cheering from out side the room when they heard the baby cry.
The doctor place the baby on to Nikki chest so she and Pete could look at her. Pete kiss Nikki "I'm prod of you Nikki"
"Thanks" they look at there daughter
"she goriest" Pete said
"Yes she is" Nikki and Pete were looking at there daughter while the doctor stitch Nikki up while one of the nurses that with him injected antibiotic in her IV line to prevent Nikki from getting infection from where the doctor had to cut her.
"Petty officer" Pete look at the doctor
"Want to do the honors" the doctor pass Pete the sissies. Pete cut the cord and put it in a tray that bomber was holding. Then a nurse put a towel over the baby.
"I'll need to weight the baby and clean her up"
"Ok" Nikki said the nurse pick the baby up and walk over to where she got every thing set up.
Bomber went to help and lean at the same time. "You did good Nav" Swain said
"thanks Swain, oh boy" then Nikki push once then relax
"Nikki" Pete was getting worried
"It just the placenta" the doctor said then the placenta came out.
Once out the doctor clean Nikki up since she was lying down on the bed. They could hear giggling coming from where bomber and the nurse is. "Every thing ok bomber" Swain asked
"Yes, we trying to clean the baby up in the sink here... buffer come and take a look" Buffer look at Nikki then walk over to where the nurse and bomber is.
"Watch this" bomber said. She scoop some warm water up in her hands and pour it on the baby chest. The baby smile as she move her arms and legs around.
"she smiling" Pete said
"Looks like you got another water baby on your hands Nav" bomber said
"Really" Nikki said
"Yep"
The nurse pass Pete a towel He open it up then the nurse pick the baby up and put it on the towel which was in his arms then she started to dry her down while bomber took care of the water mess. Then she got another clean towel so the baby could be put into it.
Once done and wrap up the nurse pass the baby to Pete then he turn and walk over to Nikki who wanted to sit up. So Swain help her to sit up and move so Nikki was leaning against him just as Pete put there baby in her arms. Nikki look down at her as she move the towel away so she could see the hands.
When the baby open her eyes and looking at them "she got your eyes Nikki"
"Yes she has, she got your nose"
"Yeah" they look at each other and kiss.
"Nav, buffer" they look over at bomber
"she weight nine pounds four ounces"
"that a big girl" Swain said
"Well you saw how big I was swain" Nikki said
"Yes I know" they look at the baby while the doctor clean up and write down some notes as well talk to the nurse who did the weighting and measuring.
They were all in the room for another ten minutes before the doctor, swain and Pete move Nikki to the bed setter where she could sit up on it with pillow supporting her back and on clean sheets and blankets.
Once done Nikki notice the baby was starting to turn towards her so she lifted her top and unclaimed her bra and move it then she turn her daughter toward her nipple. Once she latch on she started drinking. Pete watch what was happening. Since he was sitting on the edge of the bed seater.
"buffer we will leave you three alone, call out if there any problems" Swain said
Nikki raise the sheet so her was covering there daughter and her breast. Pete stood up and turn to them all
"Thank you all for what you done for Nikki and our daughter"
"no worries there mate" Swain said
"Before you go swain got pen and paper"
"Sure" he walk over to the draw and open it he got pen and note pad out and pass it to Pete. Pete wrote some thing down then he look at the doctor
"what time was baby born"
"fourteen seventeen hours" Pete wrote it down as she said
"thanks" then he rip the piece of paper from the pad and folded it up and pass it to swain
"Give it to the captain he can make the announcement over the PA"
"sure"
"Swain tell the captain he can let Melbourne crew know and commander Marshal as well" Swain smile
"No problems. You sure know how to shock us when you said your water broke."
"Well our daughter got in peck-able timing"
"Just like her mother" Pete said making every one grin just before they walk out of the ward room.
Pete move the chair around the bed and sat down on it close to the bed as Nikki move the sheet down so they could look at there daughter who still feeding.
