AN: Sorry i haven't posted in the past three weeks, been sick with a chest infection. Now that i'm almost better, i can carry on posting chapters again.
CH 41
Every one on the bridge turn to see the doctor, two nurses, swain and bomber walk up on the bridge.
"She you want to give commander Marshal a call" Swain said as he pass Mike the folded up piece of paper
"Why"
"Nav said so you can let him and Melbourne crew know at the same time you make the announcement" he pointed to the note.
Mike turn to RO "Get Me NAVCOM on the line"
"Yes sir" then he turn to Kate to see her already on the radio to Melbourne crew.
"Sir commander Marshal for you" Mike pick up the phone
"Steve it mike... yes, wait one moment while I'll make announcement" then he move the phone away from his ear as he pick up the microphone for the PA system and he turn to Kate who gave a nod then he open the note and smile
"Now here this captain Specking. It has given me the great pleasure of the announcement of the safe arrival of Vicky Nikki Caetano Tomaszewski born at fourteen seventeen hours. Weight in nine pounds four ounce. Mother and daughter doing well, that is all" then they heard crew cheered.
Mike put the microphone back in it spot then he move the phone to his ear while Kate talk to the captain on Melbourne "did you hear that Steve..." Mike smile
"Yes she is... yes she the first baby born on the new Hammersley... Yes XO talking to the captain now... ok Steve see you in the morning... I will tell them... alright..." then he hung up and turn to Kate.
"Captain share the announcement at the same time you told commander Marshal and the crew" Mike smile.
"What did the captain say?"
"He sends his and crew congratulations to buffer and Nav"
"Ok" he turn to the doctor and two nurses.
"since you going to be here for the night, spider show them down to the junior sailor room where they will be staying the night"
"Yes sir, this way sir, ma'am" spider said.
"Thank you captain" the doctor said as they shook hands
"thank you for what you done for them both"
"your welcome" Then they walk off the bridge.
Mike turn to Kate "X come with me, flipper you have the ship"
"Aye sir, flipper has the ship."
Mike and Kate walk down the stairs as he pass Kate the note to read, Pete also put on the note. 'Nikki and I would like to talk to you sir and the X'
"i wounder what they want to talk to us about" Kate asked
"Who knows Kate" when they got to the ward room mike knock on the door
"come in" Nikki said. Mike open the door and walk in first then Kate did closing the door behind her.
"How are you feeling Nav"
"sore but happy"
Pete stood up since he was holding her and he step ford to show them both "she goriest" Kate said
"Want to hold her X" Buffer asked
"sure" Pete put Vicky into Kate arms as the baby made a noise then settle down again.
Then he return back to his seat while Kate and mike look at the baby then to Pete and Nikki. "you wanted to see X and me" mike said
"Yes we do. Nikki and I have been talking for months since she found out that she was pregnant. We would be honored if you two be Vicky god parents" Pete asked.
Mike and Kate were shock at first then they look at each other and smile then they turn to look at Pete and Nikki. "We will be honored" Mike said
"You two done so much for Nikki and me over the past three years. We try to think of a way to thank you both till Nikki found out she was pregnant so what a better thank you gift than being god parents to our daughter" Pete said Mike step ford and put his hand on Pete shoulder
"We under stand buffer why you choice us"
"thank you sir" then he turn around to see Kate putting Vicky in his arms so he could look down at her.
Then turn to Pete "your mother would been honored to have your daughter named after her"
"I know she would sir" Then there was a knock on the door so Kate went to see who it was.
When she open the door "Yes RO"
"Two faxes come through from fleet command X"
"I'll give them to the captain RO" she put her hand out
"One is for the captain ma'am
"come in RO" Buffer said.
Kate RO in then close the door. "Sir here Fax from Fleet command" he pass Mike sheet of paper
"And one for you Nav" that shock every one in the room when RO step ford to pass her the sheet of paper
"thank you RO" Nav said
"congratulation to you both"
"thanks mate" Pete said.
RO turn around then stop when he look at Vicky. Mike look at RO then to Pete and Nikki then Pete nudge with his head so mike turn to RO "Want to hold her"
"AH... no thanks sir, babies and I don't get on well" Mike move Vicky into RO arms.
"Ah I don't think..." he look down at her since she looking up at him with her blue eyes.
Mike, Kate, Nikki and Pete grin when they saw how speechless RO is. RO move his hand to her hand when she grab his finger which made RO smile. Pete stood up and move the chair to where RO is and put his hand on RO shoulder and made him sit down.
Then Pete got his phone out of his pocket and took a photo of RO and Vicky which RO didn't notice since he was still looking at her "She very lucky" RO said
"Yes she is" Pete said. Mike read the sheet of paper and pass it to Kate to Read. "Fleet command send there congratulations to the Hammersley crew for job well done after what we done in the past few days and warning to let the crew that the media would be waiting on the docks for us" Mike said.
"Thanks for telling us sir" Pete said.
Nikki read the fax that came from fleet command. "Pete" He turn to her, she pass him the sheet of paper
"Fleet command send there congratulations on birth of Vicky" Nikki said while smiling
"that was good of them" Mike said
"Yes it was sir" RO stood up and pass Vicky to buffer
"I better get back to the bridge" RO said
"Sure, if the crew want to come and see the Vicky one at a time" Mike said
"Yes sir" then he walk out of the ward room.
Mike and Kate stayed for a few minutes before they return back to the bridge. When Nikki needed to go to the loo, buffer called for Bomber to help Nikki to the head so she could use the loo then return back to the ward room.
Some times one of the crew members help Nikki back to the ward room since she was unsteady on her feet and numbness is gone since she could feel the pain from giving birth like she did when she had Nick almost eight years ago.
then Later that night Buffer went and got Nikki and him some dinner while spider stayed with Nikki for a few minutes. When he return Spider left them alone so he could get his dinner. Vicky was asleep on the bed while they talk and had there dinner.
After dinner and the doctor showed up to check on Nikki he left them alone after his examination to make sure that the cut or stitches didn't got infected as well give her some pain relief.
Buffer went and got his lap top then then return to the ward room where Nikki sent a text message to Heidi. When here turn he pass the lap top to Nikki who put it on her lap and turn it on, then she put in Pete pass word since she knew what is is. Then sign in to Skype and waited for a minute when Heidi name pop up on line so she click on to it then Heidi face appeared
"Nikki oh god are you ok"
"Yes Heidi I'm fine"
"commander Marshal keep in contact with us about what happen to you. When he last call he said you got some news"
"Yes I have, is nick there"
"I'm here mum, where dad" Nick asked as he stood behind Heidi
"I'm here" Pete said leaning over so Nick could see him
"Nikki are you sure your ok, you look tired" Nikki smile
"I am" then Heidi and Nick heard a noise
"what was that" nick asked.
Pete move to see Vicky awake so he pick her up and move back to where he was "Nick I would like you to met your sister Vicky Nikki Cateano Tomaszewski" Pete said as he move Vicky so Heidi and Nick could see her.
They both look shock then nick turn and yelled "Uncle Tom mum had the baby" He yelled out then he turn back to the screen
"We will be sending you pictures after this" Nikki said
"How big was she" Heidi asked
"nine pound four ounces"
"wow that a big baby" Heidi said
"Yes she is" then tom appeared
"Hey there sis wow is this her"
"Yes it is"
"How are you feeling"
"Sore tired, happy"
"That is great news. Oh it on the news about Ray Walsmen capture, escape and recaptured again and about your kidnapping and rescue"
"I know. Crew told me"
"Nikki who capture Ray Walsmen"
"Hammersley crew did twice as well rescue me" Nikki said smiling
"Hammersley gee that boat sure becoming famous" Nikki laugh the put her arms around her stomach
"don't make me laugh, it hurts" Nikki said
"Nikki are you ok" Pete asked as he look worried
"I'm fine it normal after giving birth"
"Oh" they talk for a few more minutes before they hung up.
Nikki use the pen drive that RO got for her after he took number of photos of Pete, Nikki with Nikki, one with Mike, Kate holding Nikki, one with the doctor, two nurses, swain and bomber. Then he down loaded them all on pen drive for her so she could send it to family letting them all know when Vicky was born and what time.
After she send it she move the lap top down her legs so Pete could pass Vicky to her since she was hungry so while Nikki was feeding Vicky, Pete send e-mail message to Victor and photo of Vicky.
Hour later Nikki was sleeping and so was Vicky. Pete stayed with them till charge walk in
"Hi" he said quietly
"Hi, what you doing here" Pete asked
"Taking over, why don't you go and get some sleep mate"
"what do you mean taking over"
"Crew and I we taking shifts in watching Nav and Vicky while you get some sleep"
"Are you sure"
"Yeah, go on you could use it"
"Ok, if there"
"It will be fine"
"alright, thanks" Pete stood up and look at Nikki and Vicky before going to bed to get few hours sleep.
Early the next morning Kate walk into the ward room after knocking on the door and here "come in"
"Morning Nav, Swain"
"Morning X, here to see Vicky" Swain said smiling
"Yes" she step ford to see Vicky sleeping then she turn to Nikki
"How are you feeling"
"Good, Vicky woke up during the night for a feed and change"
"Ok, where buffer"
"sleeping, crew been taking turns in watching over Vicky and me while we were sleeping"
"ok" then the door open, they turn to see Pete walk in
"Morning Swain, X"
"morning buffer sleep well" Kate asked
"Yes thank" he walk over and kiss Nikki then he look to see Vicky sleeping peacefully. They talk for a few minutes then Swain and X left to get some breakfast.
"Did you sleep ok" Pete asked
"Yes, I did"
"We will be back in Cairns in three hours"
"ok, I wouldn't mind a shower before we leave"
"I'll talk to the doctor to see if it ok first"
"Good idea" they talk for fifteen minutes when there was a knock on the door.
Pete went to see who it was "morning buffer, Spider and I brought you and Nav your breakfast"
"thanks come in" Buffer let them walk in, ET pass Nikki a plate, knife, fork and napkin while spider put buffer on the bed then they walk to the door
"thanks guys" Pete said
"no worries, I'll will bring you both a drink" ET said
"thanks ET" Nikki said just as they walk out the door closing it behind them.
Pete sat down and move his plate closer to him then he pick up his knife and fork and turn to see Nikki eating her breakfast. So he started eating his.
"Is there any thing you will need from home" Pete asked
"Heidi getting Vicky and my bags, she bringing them to the wharf this morning when Hammersley arrives in port"
"Ok, at least you can have a shower before you leave" Nikki smile
"that would be great" Pete turn when Vicky made a noise while sleeping which made him smile. Then he carry on eating again while talking to Nikki.
When Hammersley and Melbourne came into port the two boats that Ray Walsmen owns were just behind them with tired sailors and skipper on board.
When Hammersley crew was on the bridge they could see the media already there. Once Hammersley was dock and gang way in place Steve walk on board the boat just as Kate went to great him. She smile when she saw who else came aboard
"sir"
"Lieutenant" they saluted each other.
"Hello Nick"
"Hi auntie Kate can I see mum and dad" Kate smile
"sure" then she turn around
"Spider"
"Yes X" he said as he walk over to her
"Care to show Nick where Buffer and Nav is"
"Yes X come on nick, here let me carry them for you
"i can do it" spider could see Nick was struggling with the two bags he was carrying.
"Nick how about I carry one and you carry the other" Spider asked
"Ok" Spider took the bigger one from Nick then they walk towards the hatch while talking.
"Where is mike" Steve asked
"Getting things sorted out sir since we had extra guests"
"Was there any problems"
"no the UN observes were under standing and some of the crew gave up there racks so they could use them for the night since the astral was full"
"That was good of them"
"Yes it was sir"
Spider and Nick walk down to the ward room where spider knock on the door
"come in" Nikki said Spider open the door and poke his head in to see Nikki and buffer there
"Nav buffer you got a visitor" then he walk in then Nick did which shock Nikki and buffer
"Nick" they both said.
Nick drop the bag and ran over to them and gave them both a hug then he look down at Vicky
"wow she small" Pete laugh
"Don't worry she will grow" Nikki said.
Spider pick up the bag from the floor and put them both on the bed "Here you go Nav"
"thanks Spider"
"No worries" then he walk out of the room leaving the family alone.
Five minutes later Bomber walk into the ward room "hello Nick"
"Hi auntie Bec"
"Nav ready for your shower"
"Yes, can you look after Vicky and Nick while Pete helps me in the shower"
"sure"
Pete Help Nikki to stand up then he pick up her bag with one hand then he put his arm around her waist as they walk to the door slowly since Nikki was still in a bit of pain. Bomber talk to Nick till Pete and Nikki returned to the ward room. Nikki was wearing a nightie and dressing gown, while Pete was in his white uniform.
"You can go and get ready Bomber and thanks for watch Nick and Nikki"
"no problem. Oh Ray Walsmen, his men and the UN observes left just before I came here"
"thanks" Pete said as he help Nikki to sit down.
"We should get Vicky dress" Nikki said
"Good idea" Pete said. He walk over and open the bag and got every thing out.
Then he turn to Nikki "I'm not good at this" Nikki smile.
Then she told him what needs to be done so he follow her instructions till Nikki was dress and wrap up in pink blanket. Then buffer was called to the bridge so he went to find out what was going on.
When he open the door Flipper was there "sorry Flipper"
"It ok go on, want want to see her" she said smile
"She sleeping"
"ok" Buffer walk out of the ward room while Flipper walk in
"Hi, she is so goriest"
"Yes she is"
"Is there any thing I can get for you" Flipper asked.
Nikki smile "Yes there is" Nikki said smiling.
