When Mike arrived home he walk back up to there bedroom to see Kate looking at the note then turn to see Mike walking into the bedroom
"Every thing ok" Kate asked as she sat up in bed while mike walk over to the closet and open the door
"Yes, no"
"mike what wrong?"
"first of all Steve told me about what you were talking to him and rear admiral Thomas about yesterday. They agree with your idea" Mike said as he was taking his uniform off.
"they agree"
"Yes so I'm going to be the second in command in case I get called it to patrol a ship either here or in Darwin for a patrol or two and they got a CO to take over NAVCOM"
"that great news"
"Yes it is and all because you know me to well" Once his uniform was put away he walk over to the bed and sat down on Kate side looking at her.
"what what wrong"
"It who the CO"
"you know who it is" Mike held onto her hands
"it Maxine white" Kate look at Mike in shock
"what, your joking, after the hell she put you through they sending her here"
"she been trying to transferred to here for some time. Steve told me. He remembers her and the look I gave her when I was in Darwin"
"the shock look when she showed up on the docks and her showing up the day before with two bottles of wine. Why can't she let you go" Mike could see how up set Kate is so he move closer and hug her
"i don't know Kate"
"I hope she not going to use her sons to get to you"
"she wouldn't do that" they pull apart
"Mike she would try to do any thing to get what she wants. You told me your self few times"
"I know but she is not going to come between us, ok" Kate look at him
"ok" Mike kiss Kate then they rest there foreheads together.
"when are you going to tell the family" Kate said after being quiet for a minute.
"don't remind me, later" he move back so he could look at her
"Why later Mike"
He stood up and pull the sheet off Kate then pull his briefs down to his ankles then he climb on top of Kate who had no choice but to lie down again.
Then he kiss her "Cause Kate I want to spend the whole day with you not talking about Maxine, work or any thing else. But there one thing I got to say is that. I love your idea of being temporary captain on any ships" Kate smile
"i know you to well"
"Yes you do" they kiss and spent the morning making love since it was one thing they both miss in the last two months since they were out on patrol.
Later that night Mike called his parents, they saw on the news the night before about what happen and is prod of him. He and Kate talk to them and there kids whom they miss so much.
"mike when would you and Kate like to have kids with you" Paul asked.
"We need to get school sorted out and for some one to look after them after school while Kate out on patrol and I'm at work"
"how long mike"
"give us a few days dad"
"ok, are you and Kate coming down for a visit"
"Yes we are dad give us a few days"
"Mike why not this weekend" Kate said, he turn to her
"Are you sure"
"Why not"
"Dad we will be there this weekend"
"that would be great son see you and Kate then"
"ok bye dad" then they hung up.
"Kate why this weekend"
"It will give us a few days to get the kids in roll to school and for looking after them Nikki sister in law can she look after other kids while parents are at work"
"Well how about tomorrow we go around and talk to her about it" Kate smile
"Why not and once that and school sorted out, why don't we bring kids home on Sunday with us"
"Are you sure" Kate smile
"Yes and if we leave Sunday morning we can fly to Brisbane to see Connor and give the the news he been waiting for" Mike smile
"that is a great idea. Dad said to me that he hasn't been well for a while"
"True, so why not"
"Ok lets do it" mike said smiling.
The next morning they went to see Heidi and talk to her about there kids.
"sure that is no problems how old are they"
"eight"
"eight and..." she look at them both
"quads" Kate said
"Oh, well there no problems"
"thanks"
"no worries" they talk some more before Mike and Kate left to go to a school close by where they talk to the principal about there kids.
Once every thing done including papers filled out Mike and Kate left to do some shopping and went to see Nikki and Vicky who is in hospital.
Three days later Mike and Kate flew to Sydney, they are looking ford to seeing there kids whom they miss. While the same day Maxine white and her sons move into a navy house which was provided for her.
She was looking ford to seeing Mike since she found out that she got the transferred to Cairns and that Mike got promoted and shore posting which made her very happy but she also learn that her ex husband is also in Cairns and has been for a month.
Since she busy with the furniture removers, Ryan and Connor spending the weekend with Stewart. The boys arrived the day before on the plane and looking ford to spending it with Stewart.
At that same time Stewart, Ryan and Patrick arrived at the hospital. "Dad why are we here"
"blood test Ryan"
"dose mum know"
"no"
"Why not" Stewart walk over to a spot and stop and turn to them.
"you know how I have to have blood test done every week"
"Are you sick dad" Patrick asked
"Yes. I got cancer" Ryan and Patrick were shock
"Why didn't you tell us, how long have you known" Ryan asked
"six months, I need a bone marrow transplant but there been no one. Maxine know that and I did ask her to have you boys tested for a match, she was against it"
"Why" Ryan asked
"i don't know"
"so you going against mum and have us tested" Patrick asked
"Yes, if you don't want to have the test I'll under stand" he put his hands on there shoulders.
"I'll do it dad" Ryan said
"Same here" Stewart smile
"I'm prod of you both, but don't tell your mum ok"
"Well we won't tell mum if you buy me an ice cream Sunday" Patrick said smiling
"same here" Stewart laugh
"Ok deal, come on" they walk towards the labs
"will it hurt" Patrick asked
"It like having a injection"
"ok" They went and had the tests done then Stewart took the boys to get ice cream Sunday which he promise them.
On Sunday morning Mike Kate and kids said there good byes to Paul and Alice. Since Mike and Kate paid to have kids things sent to there home in Cairns. They flew to Brisbane where they took a taxi van to the rest home.
When they arrived there they carry there bags in side and walk down to Connor room. Mike look in his room then walk in. Connor open his eyes and smile when he saw who walk into his room
"Mike"
"hi grand dad" Mike sat down in a chair close to the bed
"How are you" connor asked
"I'm good." then he lean ford and held on to his grand father hand.
"Grand dad I got great news for you"
"you have, where Kate"
"Right here" Kate walk in then the kids did. Connor eyes lit up like a Christmas tree
"Oh my, they grown up so much"
"Yes they have" Kate said as she went to give him a hug then the kids did.
"This is a surprise" connor said
"Yes it is" Mike said Connor turn to Mike
"You got some news for me"
"Yes, I've been promoted to commander grand dad"
"that is wonderful news Mike"
"Yes it is and I've been transferred to NAVCOM"
"your not on your boat any more" Kate and mike grin
"no I'm not on Hammersley any more"
"Connor" he turn to Kate
"We want you to watch this"
Kate pass her I pad to Mike since she got it set up. Mike hang onto it then he press the screen. It was the news piece about what happen. Kate sat down on the other chair while kids say on the floor while Connor watch the news piece till it stop. Then mike tap the screen then press play once again.
It showed more on what happen that morning right up till Mike and Kate walk behind the HRIBS then it stop. Mike pass the I pad back to Kate while connor look at them till mike turn back to him.
"Mike I am so prod of you"
"I knew you would be" Connor enjoyed spending time with Mike, Kate and there kids.
He also found out that the kids are moving in with him and Kate up in cairns so they can be a family at last. Which is one of the things that Connor been waiting for, for over two years. He can see that mike and Kate are happy also about it. Mike, Kate and kids stayed for three hours before they had to leave since they were flying up to Cairns which he under stands. After they said there good byes.
Connor smile knowing that the last two important things have been completed and that is Mike getting promoted and his family together in one house. He look at the photos of his family around him before closing his eyes to get some rest before dinner time.
When mike Kate and kids were finally home they went and sort out there bags. Then they went into town for some dinner and to get some food for the house before returning back home where they watch a movie that Mike and Kate brought on DVD before the kids went to bed since they got school in the morning.
Mike and Kate waited for half an hour before they went to bed them selves where they made passionate love before falling asleep in each other arms with smiles on there faces.
The next morning Mike and Kate got up and shower together where they ended up making love in there which neither of them didn't mind. Once they were dress, bathroom clean up and bed made. They went to wake the kids up and get them into there showers.
While kids were having there showers. Mike and Kate went down stairs to get things sorted out. Mike cook breakfast while Kate did the kids lunches up. Then she went to check on them. They were all dress and making there beds which made her prod.
They pick up there school bags and walk down stairs while talking to Kate. They put there bags on the floor under the breakfast bar then they got up on there seats just as mike pass them there breakfast while Kate got them a juice each and pour her self and mike a cup of coffee.
Kate took couple of mouth fulls then she walk behind Grace where she started brushing the combing her hair then she plated it for her then she did the same with Mary. When done mike pass her, her breakfast just as she sat down next to Mary while mike sat next to connor.
They talk while having breakfast. When finish . Mike and Kate show there kids where the dishes go then they ran up stairs to do there teeth then return back down stairs to see Kate putting there lunches in there bags. Then they all walk out of the house together with mike setting the security alarm last.
Ten minutes later Mike park there wagon out side the school. They got out when they watch as other parents dropping there kids off at school. Mike and Kate walk to the school office with there kids next to them. When they walk down the short corridor that lead to the principal office Mike saw the man walking out of a room which was the staff room.
He turn and smile when he saw who walking towards him "mike, Kate"
"Grant" they shook hands.
"so these are you kids"
"Yes this is Connor, Patrick, Grace and Mary" mike said pointing to each of them
"Welcome, looking ford to starting new school today"
"Yes sir" Connor said the principal raise his eye brows at the kids then to mike and Kate who was smiling
"Well manor"
"Yes they are" then they heard the school bell ring.
"come on I'll show you which class your in" They walk down the corridor where the principle ask the kids some questions which they were able to answer.
When they stop at a door the principal open it and walk in then the kids, Mike and Kate last. The class kids look at the four of them while the Principal talk to the teacher. Then they walk over to Mike and Kate.
"Mike Flynn, Kate McGregor Flynn this is Mr Terry Carson"
"Nice to met you" Terry said
"you to" Mike said as they shook hands.
"These are Connor, Patrick, Grace and Mary Flynn their children"
"Hi it nice you met you four" He said as he shook there hands.
"you to sir" they all said.
"Well lets get you kids settle in shall we but first" he turn to the kids who are talking and laughing
"Kids" he clap his hands twice then they went quiet and turn to him
"i would like you all to welcome Connor, Patrick, Grace and Mary Flynn to class and to school. Ok"
"Yes Mr Carson" they all said
"good this is there parents Mike and Kate Flynn there parents... Yes Nick" he stood up
"Mr Carson I know them sir" he said smiling.
Mike and Kate which shock when they saw Nick "you know them" Mr Carson said
"Yes sir, they know my mum and dad sir. That is commander Flynn and lieutenant McGregor they work on Hammersley with my dad sir" Mr Carson and kids in class was shock.
He turn to Mike and Kate "you know Nick parents"
"Yes we know Nav and buffer. That there navy nick names" mike said.
"We call Nikki Nav cause of her navigation skills and Buffer cause he the boson on Hammersley and he always working out"
"Hammersley. Your the captain and XO"
"Yes we are, were, I've been promoted and transferred to NAVCOM" mike said
"I saw you on the news the other night" then he turn to the kids.
"Kids remember last week about talk about the crew of a patrol boat who caught Ray Walsmen cause of the bad things he done"
"Yes Mr Carson" they all said
"Well we are honored to have captain and the XO of that patrol boat who caught them with us today" Mike and Kate smile
"Yes Kim" Mr Carson asked when he saw her with her hand up. The girl stood up.
"Mr Flynn is it true that Nick mum had her baby on the patrol boat?" then she sat down
"Yes it true. Nav as we call her went into labor and her daughter Vicky was born on board"
"Jason" Mr Carson said, then the boy stood up
"Mr Flynn can we see Hammersley please" mike grin.
"One day when Hammersley is in port and you got your parents permission"
"Ok kids that enough questions for now. Grace, Mary while don't you two go over to those two empty seats. Patrick, Connor why don't you go over there" He pointed out to the seats.
Kids walk over and sat down. "We will pick you kids up after school" mike said
"ok dad" Kids said then the principal walk out with mike and Kate waving to there kids as they walk out the door.
"sounds like your kids will be fine"
"Yes they will be" they talk for a few more minutes before mike and Kate walk out to there wagon and got in.
"where to Now" Kate turn to Mike
"Shopping"
"Why not" Mike started the car up and drove into town.
