Not only did not seeing color bother Will, but it also interfered with his job. He hated not seeing what everyone else saw. He hated when people would describe patients or equipment with color. He hated that there was no one like him that was almost 30 and have not met their soulmate yet.

Will has been waiting for the day he would see color since the day his older brother Lee met his soulmate. Lee was 14 at the time and Will was 10. He told himself that it would only be 4 more years, but when he was 14, he had still not met his soulmate yet. He still hadn't met her when he turned 18 and graduated. He didn't meet her later that year when he started collage, or when he graduated collage, or when he started his job.

Will started to wonder one day, what if his soulmate is dead? It is possible that he could still be alive, even if she is dead, because you don't die if your soulmate does unless you have already met them. So, it is entirely possible and probable that she is dead, and it is not even possible to ever meet her. Maybe that's okay, Will has heard of people who never see color at all. He has never met one of those people before, though.

But not having a soulmate does not mean he would never be able to be in a relationship ever. Will has heard of people marrying someone that is not their soulmate because neither person in that relationship ever found theirs. Will has always thought that that would be depressing. Being married to someone you are not really in love with seems just as sad as being alone would. Then, of course, there have been soulmates that met in their 50's or older, so maybe there's still hope.
