Chapter 24 -
"Oh, that feels much better now," Daphne moaned appreciatively as Hydrus ran his hands through her hair.
The pair of first-year Slytherins were currently in Hydrus's room, Hydrus was sitting on the edge of his bed with Daphne sitting in front of him on the floor. Bowie was perched on Hydrus's right knee and was inspecting Daphne's hair while Rocky was curled up next to her and allowed her to stroke his head. Hydrus poured some more hair products onto his hands before he continued running them through Daphne's hair.
"That feels tingly," She told him with a small giggle.
"You're welcome," Hydrus smiled.
"Hmm, we haven't done this since school started," Daphne said with a happy smile. "I missed it,"
"Me too," Hydrus replied as he removed his hands from her hair and grabbed a nearby towel to clean the hair products off of his hands enough for him to use his wand to clean his hands and dry up Daphne's hair.
"Thanks, Hydrus," Daphne said as she turned around in her spot so she could face him. "So, what are your plans for the Weasley twins? Going to feed them to Rocky?" She asked hopefully.
"No, I don't want to run the risk of too much ginger messing up his stomach," Hydrus waved off her suggestion. "I am going to beat them at their own game."
"With Peeve's help?" She asked.
"Not just Peeves," Hydrus grinned. Daphne stared at him for a moment, a smile appeared on her face.
"You have a plan?" She returned his grin.
"Would you like to see it in action?" He offered as he placed Bowie on his bed before standing up and offering her his hand. She daintily stood up and placed her hand in his, allowing him to lead her out of the room. The two walked down into the Slytherin common room where the majority of the Slytherins were gathered. Hydrus released Daphne's hand before pulling out his wand and firing a small blast up into the air, attracting everyone's attention. "Hello all," He said in a casual voice. "Tell me, does anyone here happen to want revenge on the Weasley twins?" Hydrus asked with a small smirk. The Weasley twins were very much hated in the house of snakes due to Slytherins being their main targets for pranks, which is why he was so unsurprised when a great many Slytherins suddenly looked very interested.
"I'm in," A couple of third-years answered.
"About time somebody dealt with those clowns," A seventh-year muttered.
"What do you have in mind, Black?" A sixth-year student asked.
"Well, I am a big believer in fighting fire with fiendfyre," Hydrus happily explained. "They want pranks, we're going to give them pranks. First of all, how many people know the colour-changing charms?"
"What do you guys have planned next?" Ron asked in an excited voice as he and his twin brothers began heading towards the exit to the Gryffindor common room.
"Why so interested lickle wickle Ronniekins?" One of them asked.
"You're going after those Slytherin jerks, they deserve it!" Ron said passionately. "Ruddy snakes walking around like they're better than everyone, hating anyone who isn't pureblood. Look at what they did to poor Neville!"
"Aye, poor Longbottom," The twins said at the same time. "Not to worry, Ron, we'll give them snakes what for." They told him as the three of them exited the common room only to be pelted by several dung bombs.
"Yuck!" Ron blurted out before the trio ended up getting hit with a couple of rainbow-coloured balloons, the balloons exploded upon impact, releasing a disgusting yellow goo which held a smell that was comparable to the dung bombs.
"What the fuck?!" The twins blurted out before looking up and seeing Peeves floating above them with a wide grin on his unnatural face. "Peeves, what the hell was that for?"
"Ooooh," Peeves cackled. "Peeves can't say, cannot, will not. Weasley's smell like rot, like dragon's snot. Did the Weasleys enjoy Peeves's little prank?"
"No, we didn't!" Ron glared up at Peeves while covering his nose.
"Good, you shouldn't," Peeves laughed before floating away.
"What's his problem?" One of the twins wondered.
"He usually leaves us alone. Respect between pranksters and all," The other added, sounding thoughtful for all of three seconds before the smell became too much and Ron ended up vomiting on both of their shoes.
"What on Earth is going on?" Fred Weasley wondered out loud, a pained look on his face.
"Aye, this is getting ridiculous." George Weasley grunted as they walked back to their common room.
They weren't sure who, but somebody had been pranking them all day and had somehow got Peeves in on it. The cheeky poltergeist would show up randomly throughout the day and throw something at them, ranging from water balloons to dung bombs to balloons filled with goo and just about everything in between. And that wasn't all that had happened to them. In potions class they had sat down at their seats for barely a second when the seats collapsed and they fell straight to the floor, Snape blamed them and accused them both of messing around. Not too long after, one of the Slytherins tossed something into their potion, causing it to explode and cover them in boils and to get additional detention on top of what they had already gotten from Snape.
The pair had barely made it out of the hospital wing in time to get to transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall had not appreciated them turning late but was fair enough to not punish them given that they had been smart enough to get a note from the school nurse. They had inspected their chairs before sitting down and once they were sure they were strong enough to support their weight, they sat down and began to get to work. They didn't get far into the lesson before they found their arms had become stuck to their desks not long after they had placed them there. The oddest part was when several students also claimed the same thing and started blaming it on them, though they were all noticeably Slytherins.
"I reckon it's the Slytherins that have been doing all of this," Fred told George.
"Yes, my uglier twin," George agreed. "Must have been," He nodded just before the two of them felt something wet hit them on the back of their heads.
"Water balloons?!" They groaned before a horrid smell hit their noses, causing them to gag. They turned around and spotted Peeves floating in front of them with a wide grin on his face and two transparent balloons with something yellow inside.
"Not water," He chuckled before tossing them at the two twins with pinpoint accuracy, hitting the front of their clothes and exploding on them, covering the front of their clothes in more of the yellow 'liquid'. "Stinky, stinky, little Weasleys," Peeves chuckled before flying off.
"Peeves!" The two roared before chasing after him, pulling out their wands. Peeves quickly turned a corner, flipping them off as he did so. The two twins ran around the corner, spells on their lips and promptly slipped and fell straight on their backs. "Ow," The moaned before realising that the floor was covered in water.
"Evening Weasleys," A voice spoke up, the two looked up to see the first-year Slytherin group staring at them. Hydrus Black was standing in front of them, lazily twirling his wand in one hand while Peeves was floating behind him with a wide grin on his face. "Good job, Peeves," Hydrus told him.
"Thank you, young Hydrus Black!" Peeves grinned. "Give Peeves his reward, give him his sack!"
"Draco," Hydrus whistled, Draco grinned before nodding to Crabbe and Goyle, both of whom were holding up a smelly large bag. They handed it to Peeves who happily took it.
"Ah, smelly and stinky rotten beef," Peeves licked his lips excitedly. "Peeves likes, Peeves likes." Peeves cackled before floating away, taking his beef with him.
"He likes beef," Hydrus added helpfully as the Weasley twins stood up.
"You got him to cover us in piss!" The two yelled, gesturing to their ruined clothes.
"It's not piss, it's juice," Theo told them with a roll of his eyes.
"Then why does it stink?!" They demanded.
"It's stinky and expired juice," Draco drawled. "It's not much of a revenge scheme if you don't suffer much,"
"You stinky little..." They stepped forward, only to pause when several disillusionment charms went down, revealing a trio of seventh years that were pointing their wands at them.
"You see," Hydrus stepped forward. "You twins, you're not really long-term thinkers. Did you really think that pranking the noble and ancient house of cunning and ambition was a great idea? You've been doing it ever since you got to Hogwarts, well, Slytherin has had enough. You will stay out of our way, or there will be consequences."
"Black is right," One of the seventh years growled. "We are sick of you and your little pranks, you will stop it or all members of Slytherin house will rain hell down on the two of you."
"And we'll do it your way, with pranks," Hydrus smiled. "Give up your little prank war, as good as you guys are, you can't out-prank an entire house. Consider this your first and last warning,"
"They did what?!" Neville blurted out as the twins told everyone in the Gryffindor common room what had happened.
"Exactly what we just said," The two blurted out together. "They threatened to throw the whole house down on us."
"Wow, you must have really pissed them off," Liv said, looking up from her book on charms. "Guess you'd better stop then, you can't out-prank an entire house."
"Not alone," The two grinned before starting around expectantly at their fellow Gryffindors.
"No," Percy Weasley said instantly. "It's bad enough I have to endure your pranks at home, I am not having you take a place of learning and using it as a battleground for your little prank war. I also want to make it clear that if anyone else here joins then I will report them to Professor McGonagall, now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and inform Professor McGonagall about what those Slytherins did." He said in a pompous voice before standing up and walking out of the common room.
"He takes his job way too seriously," One of the older prefects stated before turning to the common room. "But he's right, we're not here to get involved in prank wars. We're here to learn magic, my advice is to drop the pranks and leave the Slytherins alone."
"They're right," Oliver Wood cut in. "You two should be focusing on our upcoming quidditch match, not starting a prank war."
"Oliver, you'd think about quidditch even if you'd be an inch away from death," Fred snorted.
"Yeah," George nodded in agreement. "Wouldn't be surprised if you named your first son 'Quidditch',"
"Aye, his daughter would be called 'Quaffles'." Fred laughed.
"Don't be stupid," Oliver said with a roll of his eyes.
"They're all right," Hermione cut in, poking her head above a book that looked to be half her size. "You shouldn't be wasting time with pranks and should focus on your school work."
"So much for Gryffindors," Ron looked at everyone with disbelief. "If you need some help pranking then I'm in."
"No, you are not!" Hermione said bossily. "If you do then I'll tell Professor McGonagall."
"I...
"Fred and George Weasley!" A yell got everyone to jump to their feet as Professor McGonagall rushed into the common room, followed by a rather shocked-looking Percy Weasley.
"What the hell did you tell her?" The two blurted out.
"I didn't get to say anything!" Percy told them before Professor McGonagall started talking.
"You two pranked the entire Slytherin common room?!" She demanded as she glared at Fred and George.
"What?!" The two blurted out.
"Whoa!" The Weasley twins blurted out as they were brought into the Slytherin common room, their eyes went wide as they took their first look at the Slytherin common room. They had not really expected it to be in Gryffindor colours, they looked around and saw the whole of Slytherin house was there, glaring at them. "This looks oddly like the Gryffindor common room!" The two blurted out.
"Quiet Weasleys!" Professor Snape - who had been waiting there with a furious expression on his face - barked out angrily. "This goes far beyond any of your 'hilarious' pranks! Not only have the two of you been messing around in your classes, but you also infiltrated the Slytherin common room and coloured it all red!" He shouted, red-faced.
"We didn't do it!" The two immediately protested, looking at Professor McGonagall for support, only to find none.
"Oh, and we're supposed to believe that the entire common room changed colours by itself?!" She demanded, almost as furious as Snape. The twins stared at her with disbelief on their faces, they glanced towards the other Slytherins and saw a few smirks being directed at them for the briefest of moments before angry expressions were placed back on their faces.
"Professor, these two miscreants have been pranking our house from the moment that they entered Hogwarts!" One of the older students complained.
"Yeah, Professor," Draco spoke up. "They even pranked us first years for no good reason!"
"This will not stand!" Professor Snape said angrily at the speechless pair of Weasleys.
"It will not," Professor McGonagall agreed. "Your previous punishments have clearly been insufficient, it's time to raise it up a notch, I think. I think we shall start with a letter to your mother," She said, sending chills into the spines of each redhead.
