6. The Waynes.

Lacey sat at a table in the school library in front of a white/purple iMac G3 computer during lunch period, doing research on her new home, Wayne Manor. After finishing her lunch, she immediately left the cafeteria and came straight here to begin her online investigation. The 17-year old girl typed 'WAYNE MANOR' into the search box.

"Okay, Wayne Manor...let's find out what your past really is." Lacey said before hitting 'ENTER', followed by several titles appearing on screen having to do with the Wayne mansion. The blond teen used the mouse to click on the first title-'WAYNE MANOR', and it's article appeared on screen.

Wayne Manor

"Wayne Manor was the stately residence of billionaires, Thomas and Martha Wayne." Lacey began, reading silently. "The Wayne family had owned the property since the 19th century, but construction was abandoned after Joshua Wayne died. Jonah Hex held criminal cabals on the grounds. Alan Wayne decided to fully construct a mansion on the acreage."

Thomas And Martha Wayne

"Thomas Wayne, born March 22nd-1950, served on the board at Wayne Enterprises and was heir to the Wayne fortune. He also pursued a successful career as a surgeon at Gotham General Hospital. Dedicated to philanthropy as much as medicine, he and his wife, Martha, were well known and respected in Gotham. Martha Wayne, (nèe Kane) who was born on April 23rd-1951, was a wealthy heiress and socialite and shared her husband, Thomas's charitable nature and was dedicated to her son, Bruce's up-bringing. She was on the board of numerous Gotham charities and was well regarded in Gotham City's social circles and helped host lavish charity balls at Wayne Manor. Her life's work in particular focused on the detection and prevention of child abuse and human trafficking."

Lacey used the mouse to scroll down the rest of the article.

Murder

"On the night of November 30th-1989, Thomas and Martha Wayne were gunned down at the hands of a desperate homeless man named Joe Chill in Gotham's alley in front of their 9-year old son, Bruce." Lacey resumed reading silently. "Their tragic murder shook the city to it's core and led to years of urban blight that it is still experiencing to this day."

Bruce Wayne

"After the murder of his parents, Bruce was looked after by the family butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Joe Chill was arrested and charged with the murders on October 1st-1990, but was later cleared of both charges and released on the 30th of that same month. On October 31st, Halloween night, 10-year old Bruce Wayne brutally murdered Joe Chill by stabbing him to death with a butcher knife in his own apartment home on the New York cultural side of Gotham. Bruce was then arrested at Chill's place and arrested that night and was institutionalized in Arkham Asylum, due to him being a minor, until his escape from the facility New Year's Eve night. His where-abouts are unknown."

Having now reached the end of the article, Lacey was now speechless. Wayne Manor, the house she and her parents now lived in, had once belonged to a rich billionaire couple, a couple who had been murdered in cold blood in front of their son back in the 80s. As if that wasn't enough, the man who had done it was acquitted of both murder charges and walked. And as if that wasn't enough, the son of the couple he had killed murdered him and was sent away to Arkham, only for him to escape on the night of the last day of December in 1990, never to be found and re-captured. She wondered where that kid was now? Was he alive? If so, was he okay? Was he living a normal life?

Deciding she had learned more than enough, Lacey logged out of the article, closed out of the internet, turned the computer off, got up from the table and headed back to the cafeteria for seconds for the remaining time that was left before lunch break was over.
