Buster Moon saw them first and waved enthusiastically. "Doctor! Porsha! Welcome back!" The koala shouted as he rushed over, giving them both a warm hug. "We thought we'd never see you two again!" Suki joined them, a hint of a smile playing on her lips despite her usual serious demeanor. "You've missed quite a bit, but we've managed to keep the show running without you!"

"You know what I think we could do with a break" The Doctor suggested as they stepped out of the TARDIS into the bright sunlight of Calatonia Beach. "Agreed" said Porsha "A beach day is just what we need." The group from the New Moon Theatre looked at each other wearily but the idea of a relaxing day out was too tempting to

CALM WATERS

The beach was a riot of color and sound, with the troupe spread out on towels and beach chairs. The smell of barbecue filled the air, mingling with the salty ocean scent. Ash was busy flipping burgers while Johnny practiced his beach volleyball spikes with a few of the local animals. Gunter, ever the optimist, had constructed an elaborate sandcastle for Rosita's piglets, who were busy knocking it down. Rosita sat under an umbrella, her body glistening with sunscreen, while her little ones splashed in the waves. Nooshy lounged on a floatie, sipping a cool drink through a straw, her Lynx eyes half-closed against the sun's glare.

Suki had gotten her hands on a pair of sunglasses and was lounging next to Porsha, who had now put on a bathing suit, was telling Suki about the adventures she and The Doctor had. Even Agent Rogue had shed his usual black suit and blue tie for a pair of board shorts and was attempting to teach Kira to surf. They were laughing as they wiped out in the small waves, the girl falling off the board over and over was quite amusing to watch. Meanwhile, The Doctor was chuckling as he watched them from the shore, he had used his sonic screwdriver to create a shield against the hot Calatonian sun.

Reginald had brought along a book to read, finding a quiet spot away from the splashing and laughter, his legs stretched out in the sand as he absorbed the words on the page. Every now and then, he'd peek over the top of his book to check on the others, his kind expression giving way to amusement as he watched the antics of Gunter's piglets. Agent Rogue had convinced Kira to take a break from her surfboard and join him in a sandcastle-building contest with Rosita's children. The Doctor, who was relaxing was about to get the shock of his life as Porsha snuck up with a bucket of water and a grin, ready to dump it on his head.

"Porsha, I've seen that look before," he said with a twinkle in his eye. "I don't think so," she replied, her smile widening. In a flash, the Doctor was on his feet, the water missing its mark as he dashed away. The chase was on, the Doctor's laughter echoing across the beach as Porsha gave chase, her long legs easily keeping up with his. They dashed through the shallows, sending sprays of water up around them, the Doctor's sonic screwdriver held high as if it could somehow deflect the impending soaking. "I didn't know Time Lords had such a strong aversion to water," Suki called after them, her own laughter joining in.

The day unfolded in a delightful symphony of splashes, sandy embraces, and shared smiles. The Doctor couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so relaxed. He watched as the members of the New Moon troupe played together, their talents not confined to the stage but extending to the art of living. It was a simple, beautiful sight - one that reminded him of the goodness in the universe. Even Agent Rogue, whose stoic demeanor was usually as unyielding as a Dalek's shell, had allowed himself to be drawn into the fun, his laughter ringing out as Rosita's piglets attempted to bury him in sand.

Kira had become quite good at surfing and luckily for everyone she had modified her cybernetic arm so it could function in water without any issues. She caught a wave and rode it gracefully to shore, the spray glittering in the sun. She looked over to the Doctor and Porsha, who were playing with the piglets in the shallows. The Doctor was laughing as one of the small piglets tried to climb onto his back, while Porsha was gently splashing water at them, her fur shimmering in the light. It was a heartwarming sight, a stark contrast to the recent battles they had faced.

As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the troupe gathered around a bonfire that Buster had somehow managed to build on the beach without setting anything else on fire. They roasted marshmallows and shared stories, their voices blending with the soothing rhythm of the waves. The Doctor sat with Suki, his arm around her shoulders, both of them lost in quiet conversation. For a moment, the weight of their responsibilities felt like a distant memory, a shadow that had passed over their lives but was now slowly fading away.

The Doctor looked around at the faces of his friends, their eyes reflecting the warm glow of the fire. He knew that this peace was temporary, that there would always be other battles to fight and mysteries to unravel. But for now, he was content to sit here, listening to the crackle of the fire and the laughter of those he cared about. The flames danced in the night, casting flickering shadows across the beach and painting their faces with shifting patterns of light and dark. Rosita's children were fascinated by Kira's cybernetic arm however they got quite a shock when Kira removed her arm to show them "It's okay guys it doesn't bite!" she said with a laugh, showing them the inner workings.

Suki leaned into The Doctor's side, her hand in his. "Thank you," she murmured. "For what?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "For bringing us here, for giving us this day. I know you could have taken us anywhere in time and space, but here, right now, is exactly where we needed to be." The Doctor squeezed her hand in return, understanding the unspoken depth of her words. They had all suffered losses, faced fears, and overcome challenges, but here on this beach, surrounded by their loved ones, they could finally take a moment to breathe. "The thing is I have fought so many battles for so many years and look at me know I'm part of a family." The Doctor said with a warm smile.

The night grew colder as the fire grew hotter, and the stars began to twinkle in the clear sky above them. Buster Moon pulled out a guitar and began to strum a gentle tune. One by one, the members of the New Moon troupe joined in, their voices blending in a spontaneous, heartfelt ballad. The Doctor, unable to resist the call of music, stood up and when into the Tardis to grab something. His old electric guitar that he had not played since his twelfth incarnation.

The Doctor tuned the instrument and started playing but the song he played was something that seem to follow him through regenerations. It was the Doctor Who Theme. The melody washed over the beach, a familiar tune that seemed to resonate with every creature present. Even the local wildlife paused to listen, their eyes reflecting the dancing firelight. The music wove through the air, a tapestry of notes that spoke of adventure, of battles won and lost, and of a journey that never truly ended. "What song is that, Doctor?" Porsha asked. "It's a little something I picked up, a theme of sorts. I don't know where it came from or how I know it, but it follows me wherever I go." He said with a mysterious smile.

The troupe watched in amazement as The Doctor played, his hands moving with a grace that seemed almost alien. His eyes closed, lost in the melody, he played from the depths of his soul. The song grew in intensity, the Doctor's face a mask of concentration as he poured his heart into the music. It was a moment of pure beauty, untouched by the chaos of the universe, a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the joy of the present.

As the last notes of the Doctor Who Theme faded into the night, the troupe erupted into applause. The Doctor opened his eyes, a surprised look crossing his face as he realized what he had done. "I haven't played that in centuries," he said with a chuckle, "but it seems like it's still got a bit of magic left in it." He put the guitar back in the Tardis, his eyes lingering on the instrument for a moment longer than necessary.

The bonfire had grown into a warm, welcoming beacon on the beach, casting shadows that danced playfully across the group. They had moved closer together, the warmth of the fire and their shared experiences creating a cozy atmosphere. The Doctor took a seat next to Porsha, who was toasting a marshmallow with the end of a stick. He looked over at her, his expression thoughtful. "You know, I've seen a lot of things in my travels," he began, "but there's something about watching friends share moments like this that never gets old." Porsha smiled softly, looking up from her marshmallow. "What do you mean?" she asked, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. "It's the small moments, the quiet times between the storms, that remind me of why I keep fighting. Why we all keep fighting." He paused, his gaze lingering on the flames. "It's easy to get lost in the grandeur of it all, the battles and the prophecies, but at the end of the day, it's about protecting moments like these."

The group around the bonfire grew quiet, the only sound the crackle of the fire and the distant crash of the waves. They knew the Doctor spoke the truth. Their lives had become a tapestry of adventure and danger, but moments like this, where they could just be themselves, were rare and precious. Agent Rogue, who had been quietly observing, spoke up. "The Doctor is right. Sometimes, the most heroic thing you can do is enjoy the quiet moments."

The Doctor nodded in agreement. "And it's these moments that keep us going, reminding us of what we're fighting for." He looked around the circle, his gaze lingering on each of his friends. "For companionship, for love, for the sheer joy of existing." Porsha leaned into him, her fur still damp from their earlier romp in the waves. "I'm just glad we can share them with you," she said, her voice warm and sincere.

As the night grew cooler, the group huddled closer to the bonfire, sharing warm blankets and more stories. The Doctor regaled them with tales from his past regenerations, making even the most mundane of adventures sound thrilling. Kira listened intently, her eyes wide with wonder as she took in every word. Agent Rogue, who had never shown any interest in the Doctor's past, found himself drawn into the narrative, his usual stoic expression softening. "So there I was in 1940s London with my companion Rose Tyler and a time agent call Captain Jack Harkness facing down a group of gas mask zombies and that was when jack told me his the device he had could function as a sonic blaster a sonic cannon and a triple unfolded sonic disrupter and then he ask me what I had but I only had a sonic screwdriver and he said 'Who looks at a screwdriver and thinks oooh this could be a bit more sonic?' and I said 'What you've never been bored never had a long night never had a lot of cabinets to put up?' "Everyone burst into laughter, even Suki couldn't help but chuckle.

The Doctor took the screwdriver out his pocket "Yep this little screwdriver has been with me through thick and thin, it's saved me and my companions more times than I can count," he said with a fond smile. "What's more its completely harmless, and the internal components are the same it's just the exterior that changes with every regeneration," he twirled the screwdriver in his hand. "I guess you could say it's like me, always the same, but always changing." He said with a smile "Same sonic different casing"

Buster Moon looked at The Doctor with amazement "You've had so many adventures," he said "How do you keep going?" The Doctor looked into the fire for a moment, his thoughts drifting through time. "Because every new adventure is a chance to learn something new, to meet amazing people and to save lives. It's the most amazing thing anyone could ever ask for." The Doctor looked up at the stars "I may not have a home planet anymore or a species but don't have a job I don't pay rent I don't have a boss but what I do have is freedom and the chance to make a difference. And that's worth more than all the gold in the universe."

The night grew late, and the fire burned low. The Doctor began to whistle a tune 'The Doctor's Theme' from his past, his eyes reflecting the embers. Suki looked up at him, her curiosity piqued. "what song is that?" she asked. He looked at her with a twinkle in his eye. "It's something from a very long time ago, from a place that's no longer there," he replied with a hint of nostalgia and sadness. "It's a melody that's followed me through time, a reminder of who I was and who I am."

The group grew quiet, each lost in their own thoughts, the sound of the waves providing a soothing backdrop. Kira, who had been playing with the piglets, came over to sit beside The Doctor. She leaned against him, her cybernetic arm resting on his leg. "You know," she said thoughtfully, "you've been to so kind to me, since I crashed here on earth." The Doctor ruffled her hair gently. "You're part of this family now, Kira. And families look after each other."

Her eyes shone with gratitude as she looked up at him. "I've never had a family before, not one like this," she said softly. The Doctor put his arm around her. "You're not alone anymore, Kira. We're all here for you." It was a simple gesture, but it spoke volumes about the bond they had formed over the past few months.

The beach was a picturesque scene of tranquility, a stark contrast to the chaos they had recently faced. The Doctor's TARDIS was parked a safe distance away, its blue exterior blending with the shadows cast by the palm trees. It was a silent sentinel, a reminder of the boundless possibilities of the universe, but for now, they were content to enjoy the simplicity of the moment. "Do you think I could travel with you and Porsha?" Kira asked shyly as they watched the flames dance and wave. The Doctor looked at her, his expression gentle. "Of course, Kira. If that's what you wish. The TARDIS is always ready for new adventures."

The promise of adventures to come filled Kira with excitement, but she was also aware of the responsibilities it entailed. "I just want to make sure I'm ready," she murmured, her eyes drifting to Porsha, who was busy playing with the piglets. "You're more than ready," The Doctor assured her. "You've proven your bravery and your heart. That's all you need to be a companion." Kira looked down at her arm, the cybernetic limb a constant reminder of her origins. "But what if my past catches up to me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "Then we will deal with that if or when it happens," The Doctor said firmly. "But for now, let's just enjoy the peace."

The beach grew quieter as the night deepened. The troupe's laughter and chatter had settled into a comfortable hum, and the only other sounds were the whispers of the wind and the gentle lullaby of the sea. The Doctor leaned back against the TARDIS, his eyes half-closed as he listened to the rhythm of the waves. It had been a long time since he had allowed himself to simply be in the moment without the burden of saving worlds or facing imminent danger. The warmth of the sand beneath him and the salty breeze on his face brought him a sense of serenity he hadn't felt in ages.

Porsha sat beside him, her tail swishing lazily through the sand. Her fur had dried in the warmth of the fire, and she looked up at him with a contented sigh. "Thank you, Doctor," she murmured, her voice low and sincere. "For this. For everything." He opened his eyes and smiled at her, his eyes filled with warmth. "You're welcome, Porsha," he said. "Sometimes, even Time Lords need a break."

The Doctor glanced over at Kira, who was sitting quietly by the fire, her thoughts clearly racing. He knew she was eager to explore the universe, to find her place among the stars. "Alright, Kira," he said, sitting up with newfound energy. "Ready for your first trip in the TARDIS?"

Her eyes lit up and she nodded eagerly. "Yes, I am," she said, her voice a mix of excitement and nerves. The Doctor patted her on the back. "Don't worry, you're in good company. I've had plenty of first-timers in here." He gestured towards the blue box. "After you," he said with a flourish.
