The next day, it was another day of the Miami Championship. After getting some well-needed rest, Qing met up with the rest of her friends of You Show Duel School and was now in the audience with them, waiting as Seth was the next duelist to be dueling on the field. Apparently, Yuya was still out of commission, so Yuzu had decided to stay in his house with his mother to watch over him. Not only that, but earlier that day, Futoshi dueled against Reira, who defeated him with Synchro Summoning, much to many's shock.
It was now the afternoon. As stated earlier, it was also time for Seth and Azuma's duel to begin.
"And now! Let us introduce the start of today's Tag Duel!" Nico Smiley announced. "On the left, from Samurai Duel School and Gardening Duel School respectively, are Siba and Natane! And on the right, from You Show Duel School and LDS, are Seth and Azuma!" The audience cheered for the four duelists at their introduction. "Now then! Let us see what the field for this duel is! Action Field on! Field Magic, Sky Tree Bird Cage!" Wood came up from the ground, surrounding the arena and the four duelists. Branches then stuck out of the wood, some with wooden figures of birds on them.
"It'll be nice working with you, Azuma-san," Seth greeted.
"Likewise, I suppose," she answered.
"Duelist locked in battle!" Siba began.
"Kicking against the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters!" Natane followed.
"They storm through the field!" Seth followed after.
"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of dueling!" Azuma ended.
"Action... DUEL!"

"Sorry, ladies. But ninjas strike first!" Seth began.
"Go ahead," Azuma insisted, already going to search for an Action card.
"From my hand, when I have no monsters on my field, I Special Summon out Darkus Warius!" Appearing on Seth's field was a purple-skinned, ogre-like monster, donned in a black armor and a deadly-looking mace.
Darkus Warius: Level 5/DARK/Warrior/2200 -} 1100 ATK/1200 -} 600 DEF
"When he's summoned this way, his ATK and DEF are cut in half. But he won't stay for long! Since I have a 'Darkus' monster on my field, I Special Summon out the Tuner monster, Darkus Gargonoid from my hand!" Appearing next is a purple-skinned gargoyle with black wings.
Darkus Gargonoid: Level 3/DARK/Fiend/1300 ATK/700 DEF
"And now I will tune my Level 5 Darkus Warius with my Level 3 Darkus Gargonoid! Guardian of the dark dimension, descend now and show what true darkness is! SYNCHRO SUMMON! Reveal yourself, Level 8, Darkus Leonidas!" The two monsters came together for the Synchro Summon and Seth's ace monster appeared on the field.
Darkus Leonidas: Level 8/DARK/Dragon/3000 ATK/2700 DEF
"And there it is! Seth's ace monster!" Nico Smiley shouted, causing everyone to cheer in excitement.
"Next I activate the Magic card, Dusk Strike! I target one 'Darkus' monster in my Graveyard and my opponent takes 200 points of damage per that monster's level! The monster I target is Darkus Warius!" As he said that, a shadow of his ogre monster appeared and rushed at Siba and Natane, both who had their arms up in an attempt to withstand the attack.
Siba and Natane: 3000 LP
Seth and Azuma: 4000 LP
(Dusk Strike: Normal Magic: Target 1 'Darkus' monster in your Graveyard. Inflict 200 points of damage to your opponent times that monster's Level.)
"I set one card face-down and end my turn!" Seth ended.
"Not a bad start there. I guess it's to be expected from a ninja, though," Siba stated.
"Well, thanks," Seth accepted the compliment.
"But now it's our turn! Do you mind if I start next?"
"Be my guest, partner," Natane allowed. "In the mean time, I'll do what his partner is doing, and search for an Action card or two." With that, she took her leave as well.
"Okay then. Draw!" Siba drew his sixth card. "I activate the field magic, Shiranui Style Reincarnation Formation!" Not much change had occurred to the field, besides wisps suddenly appearing around them that is. "And through its effect, once per turn, if I control no monsters, by discarding one card from my hand, I can activate one of its effects! I will discard Shiranui Sensei from my hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon a Zombie-type monster with 0 DEF in my Graveyard."
Hearing that surprised everyone.
"He can do that? When he doesn't even have a monster in his Graveyard," Ayu asked.
"Well, the card says that he has to send a card from his hand to the Graveyard first, and then activate one of its effects. I guess that is possible," Tatsuya answered.
"If that isn't possible, we would've gotten an error in this duel by now," Qing pointed out.
"However, before that..." All attention were brought back to Siba. "I activate the Instant Magic, Shiranui Story Saga! If my opponent controls a monster, I discard one Zombie monster to Special Summon a 'Shiranui' monster with a different name from my deck or Graveyard onto my field! Through this effect, I'll discard Shiranui Samurai and Special Summon from my deck the Tuner monster, Shiranui Spectralsword!" A samurai in white clothes and a blue-flaming sword appeared on the field.
Shiranui Spectralsword: Level 2/FIRE/Zombie/800 ATK/0 DEF
"Next, through my Field Spell card's effect, I Special Summon out the recently discarded Shiranui Samurai onto my field!" One of the blue wisps moved next to the Tuner Monster and took form into a samurai in red and black, with a black-sheathed sword.
Shiranui Samurai: Level 4/FIRE/Zombie/1800 ATK/0 DEF
"And because I control two 'Shiranui' monsters, I Special Summon Shiranui Sensei to my field from my Graveyard!" Up next was an elderly looking samurai.
Shiranui Sensei: Level 2/FIRE/Zombie/600 ATK/0 DEF
"Unbelievable! In one turn, Siba summoned out three monsters!" Nico announced in amazement.
"I'm not done yet. Don't think you're the only one who's able to Synchro Summon in this duel. I tune my Level 4 Shiranui Samurai and Level 2 Shiranui Sensei with my Level 2 Shiranui Spectralsword!" Everyone was surprised to hear those words. "Led by the whispering flames of victory, shine a path to end this war! SYNCHRO SUMMON! Come now, Level 8, War God - Shiranui!" Appearing on the field from the three monsters was a shogun-like samurai in red and white clothes, with a blue-flaming sword.
War God - Shiranui: Level 8/FIRE/Zombie/3000 ATK/0 DEF
"My goodness! Siba's summoned out a monster just as powerful as Seth's Darkus Leonidas! If I dare say it, I'd say that we are seeing his ace monster!" Nico exclaimed.
"Well, you're kind of wrong there," Siba muttered. "On another note, I activate War God - Shiranui's effect! When he's Special Summoned, by banishing one Zombie-type monster from my Graveyard, he gains that monster's ATK for this turn! Samurai! Serve your lord!" To everyone's shock, the spirit of his Level 4 monster appeared and fused with the Synchro monster.
"I don't think so! Trap card, Grand Down, activate! With this card, all cards and effects are negated for this turn!" Seth defended.
"Oh! Then it looks like I drew a lucky card," Natane spoke. "Action Magic, Trap Eraser. This negates a Trap Card that's been activated and shuffle it back in the deck."
Seth was shocked to hear that, as what seemed like a bear trap appeared and chomped up the card, thus allowing War God - Shiranui's effect to go through. "Not good!" he exclaimed, as he rushed to find an Action Card.
War God - Shiranui: 3000 + 1800 = 4800 ATK
"Battle! War God - Shiranui! Attack his Leonidas! Flaming Phoenix Strike!" Siba's Synchro Monster charged at Seth's, raising his sword as the flames formed into that of a phoenix and charged at him.
"Action Magic, Wings of Dimension!" came Azuma's voice. "This negates the destruction of one monster!" Leonidas's wings suddenly grew and wrapped around him, protecting him from the attack, but not Seth or Azuma from the damage.
Siba and Natane: 3000 LP
Seth and Azuma: 2200 LP
"Ah man... So close," Siba said.
"Well, on the bright side, we brought their Life Points down by a lot," Natane told him.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll set one card face down and end my turn. At this time, War God - Shiranui's ATK returns to normal." As he ended his turn, Siba also started to run around for an Action card.
War God - Shiranui: 4800 - 1800 = 3000 ATK
"Then it's my go now... Draw!" Azuma drew her sixth card.
Before she could go any further, Seth appeared next to her. "Hey. Just wanted to say, thanks for the save back there."
"Think nothing of it," she simply said. "I activate the Instant Magic, Teleportation Crystal. With this card, if I control no monsters, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower 'ALO' monster from my deck. However, the monster summoned this way cannot attack and loses their effects. Come to my side, ALO Cait Sith, Silica!" Appearing on her field was a timid-looking girl in blue clothes with cat ears and tail.

(Teleportation Crystal: Instant Magic: If you control no monsters on your field, Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower ALO monster from your deck. The monster summoned this way cannot attack and loses their effects.)

If this card is equipped with 'ALO Monster, Feathered Little Dragon', this card can attack twice per turn. If this card is equipped to a monster and 'ALO Monster, Feathered Little Dragon' is on the field, you may equip that card to the monster this card is equipped to.)
"I'll do my best!" she said.
"And if she's on the field, so is her partner and best friend. I Special Summon ALO Monster, Feathered Little Dragon." Appearing next to her was a cute, blue, feathery dragon.
ALO Monster, Feathered Little Dragon: Level 1/LIGHT/Dragon/500 ATK/500 DEF
(ALO Monster, Feathered Little Dragon: Union Monster: If 'ALO Cait Sith, Silica' is face-up on your side of the field, you may Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn, you can equip this card to a face-up 'ALO Cait Sith, Silica' or unequip it and Special Summon this card to the field. The monster this card is equipped to gains 1 level, 500 ATK and 500 DEF and can attack twice per turn. Any Battle Damage the equipped monster inflicts to your opponent, recover that amount as Life Points.)
"Pina!" Silica cried out in joy at the sight of the dragon, who let out a small cry of joy.
"Through Feathered Little Dragon's effect, he'll be equipped to Silica! And because of him, Silica gains a level and 500 ATK and DEF!" At Azuma's words, the dragon perched itself on Silica's shoulder, giving her some needed boost.
ALO Cait Sith, Silica: Level 3 + 1 = 4/1400 + 500 = 1900 ATK/800 + 500 = 1300 DEF
"And next, I'll summon out ALO Sylph, Leafa!" Appearing next to Silica and Pina was the blonde fairy.
ALO Sylph, Leafa: Level 4/WIND/Fairy/1600 ATK/1000 DEF
"Okay, Azuma! Let's get this party started!" Leafa exclaimed.
Azuma nodded at her words and continued her move. "And now I'll overlay my Level 4 Silica and Leafa to build the Overlay Network!" Silica and Leafa became white and green light respectively, as they jumped into a portal that opened up underneath them. "Colonel of the rampaging beasts, crushing all that dares to stand against you, descend now! XYZ SUMMON! Appear now, Rank 4! ALO Boss, Colonel Taurus, Nato!" A blue minotaur-like monster with a large, two-handed hammer in its hands and a pair of orbs circling around him.
ALO Boss, Colonel Taurus, Nato: Rank 4/EARTH/Beast-Warrior/2100 ATK/1800 DEF
(ALO Boss, Colonel Taurus, Nato: Xyz Monster: 2 Level 4 monsters: Once per turn, you may detach one Overlay Unit from this card; target one monster on the field in Attack Mode. That monster goes to Defense Mode.)
"And what, if I may ask, is that monster going to do?" Siba questioned.
"I'll show you. Nato's effect! Once per turn, by detaching one Overlay Unit from him, a monster on the field in Attack Mode is swapped to Defense! Your War God may be powerful in terms of ATK power, but in Defense, it's nothing!" Azuma exclaimed. "Get him! Numbing Impact!" As one of the Overlay Units got absorbed into its hammer, Nato slammed it down on the ground, causing yellow sparks to shoot out and make its way to its target, forcing him to the defense.
"Yes! Now we have a chance!" Seth cheered, running and jumping around the field in search for some Action cards.
"Battle! I'll have Nato attack War God - Shiranui! Hamming Impact!" The Xyz Monster charged at its Synchro opponent.
However... "Action Magic, Choice of Miracle! This card can either allow a monster to have its destruction negated for one battle or halve the battle damage inflicted for it! I'll use the first effect and save my partner's monster!" Natane shouted, as War God - Shiranui raised his sword and blocked the hammer.
"Miracles can only happen once! Leonidas! Attack that synchro monster!" At Azuma's command, Seth's ace glided over to the lone monster.
"Action Magic, Bird Flock Attack! This negates a monster's attack and decreases its ATK by 500!" Siba countered, plucking an Action card from a tree. As the card was activated, the wooden birds all came to life and flew to Leonidas, blocking him from his target, as he tried to shoo them away.
Darkus Leonidas: 3000 - 500 = 2500 ATK
(Bird Flock Attack: Action Magic: When a monster declares at attack, negate it and decrease that monster's ATK by 500.)
Azuma clicked her tongue when this happened. "I set one card face-down and end my turn."
"Then I suppose it's my turn now, right? Draw." Natane ceased her running and drew her sixth card. "Hmm... Okay. I'll start with the Magic card, Shinra's Charity. Through this card, I draw three cards. Then if I have a 'Shinra' card in my hand, I'll reveal it and one other and place them on the top of the deck in any order I like." Natane drew three cards and took a good look at her hand. "Okay... The cards I'll be revealing are Sprout, Bud Princess of Shinra, and Blade, Leaf Bouncer of Shinra." Two monster cards were revealed and placed on top of her deck. "Now I summon out Leaf, Water Flow of Shinra!" A cute monster with a leaf as a head and flowers as arms appeared on the field.
Leaf, Water Flow of Shinra: Level 3/WATER/Plant/1500 ATK/1200 DEF
"When Leaf is summoned, I can excavate one or two cards from the top of my deck. Any Plant-type monsters excavated are sent to the Graveyard, while the rest are placed on the bottom of the deck. I'll excavate two cards from my deck. And as we all know from earlier, they're both Plant-type monsters." To everyone's confusion, Natane placed the two cards she just placed on her deck in the Graveyard.
"Why would she do that?" Futoshi asked.
"If she wanted them in the Graveyard, she could've just discarded them..." Kai said.
"No... Not unless if their effects says otherwise," Qing said in realization.
"Now I activate Sprout and Blade's effect! Before that, however, I activate the effect of two Sherman, Wise Tree of Shinra! Because a 'Shinra' monster is sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon them both from my hand! Appear now, Sherman!" A pair of trees with elderly faces appeared on the field.
Sherman, Wise Tree of Shinra: Level 7/WIND/Plant/2600 ATK/2100 DEF
"Next, Blade's effect! When he's sent from deck to Graveyard, he gets added back to my hand. And as for Sprout, when she's sent from deck to Graveyard, I get to Special Summon her at any Level between 1 to 8! So now she's returning as a Level 7 monster!" Appearing next was a princess-like monster.
Sprout, Bud Princess of Shinra: Level 1 -} 7/LIGHT/Plant/100 ATK/100 DEF
"Their field is full of monsters now!" Tatsuya gasped.
"And that's not all. If a monster has an effect that changes its level, that could only mean one thing that will happen next," Bella added.
"I now Overlay my Level 7 Sprout with one of my Level 7 Sherman!" The two monsters became rays of light and entered a portal. "Spread your elegant wings and descend to our land! XYZ SUMMON! Rank 7! Oreia, Tranquility God of Shinra!" From the portal, a green, elegant, peacock-like monster appeared on the field, with two orbs circling around it.

Seeing two sides being able to do a Synchro and Xyz Summon got the crowd all riled up.
"Would you look at this, folks! Both sides are capable of doing both a Synchro and an Xyz Summon! If I didn't know any better, I'd say we're witnessing a duel between LDS students instead!" Nico shouted.
"He knows only one of them is an LDS, right?" Bella questioned.
"Don't bother," Qing told her.
"And now I'll use Oreia's effect. By sending a Plant-type monster from my hand or face-up on my field to the Graveyard, I can look at the top cards of my deck equal to the Level of the monster sent and rearrange them back in any order. I'll send the Level 4 Blade to the Graveyard from my hand and look at the top four cards of my deck." Natane discarded the said card and checked the top four cards of her deck. After she got a look, she arranged them in a certain order and put them back on her deck. "Next, I activate the Magic card, Fragrance Storm. Through its effect, by destroying a Plant-type monster on the field, I can draw one card. If the card drawn is a Plant-type monster, I can reveal it to draw again." As Leaf dispersed into flower petals, Natane drew her card and revealed it. "The card I drew was Narsus, Flower Knight of Shinra. Since I drew a Plant-type monster, I draw again." She drew her next card. "Now I activate Sherman's effect. Once per turn, I can excavate the top card of my deck. If it is a Plant-type monster, I can send it to the Graveyard. Otherwise, it goes to the bottom of my deck." She revealed the top card. "The next card was Regia, Hermit Tree of Shinra. And when it's sent from deck to the Graveyard, I can look at the top three cards of my deck and arrange them in any order I want."
"Wait, again?!" Futoshi gasped.
"If she keeps this up, she'll always know what to draw out and what to send away," Tatsuya said.
"'Shinra', huh... That really is quite an annoying kind of deck," Qing muttered.
After checking the top three cards of her deck, Natane placed them back. "And now, Oreia's second effect! Once per turn, by using one Overlay Unit, I can excavate at most the top three cards of my deck. Like my other monsters, if the cards are Plant-type monsters, they go to the Graveyard and anything else goes to the bottom of my deck." Natane revealed the three cards she just checked. "The three cards are Snuff, Concealed Nectar of Shinra, Shinra Waterfall Slide, and Citra, Mikan Priestess of Shinra. Snuff and Citra are both going to the Grave. Shinra Waterfall Slide, on the other hand, is going to the bottom of my deck." She placed the cards where they should be sent to. "And... because there were two cards sent to the Graveyard by Oreia's effect, I am also able to return cards on the field back to the hand." Seth and Azuma were surprised to hear that. "I'd like to clear your field of monsters. Vermillion Storm!" With a flap of its wings, Natane's Xyz Monster sent a gust of wind at Leonidas and Nato.
"I don't think so! I activate the Instant Magic, Rank-Up Magic Rank Grinder!" Azuma countered. "I am able to target an Xyz monster I control and use it as a material to summon out an Xyz Monster one rank higher than it! If the Xyz Monster I target is an 'ALO' Xyz Monster, I can use it to summon out an Xyz Monster two ranks higher instead! Through this effect, I'll use it on Nato! Raise that golden battle hammer and crush your foes! RANK UP XYZ CHANGE! Appear now, Rank 6! ALO Boss, General Taurus, Baran!" Using her own monster, she summoned out a red and bulkier version of the minotaur, with a golden battle hammer in its hand.

Once per turn, you may detach one Overlay Unit from this card; target one Defense Position monster on the field and destroy it.)
(Rank-Up-Magic Rank Grinder: Instant Magic: Target 1 Xyz Monster you control; Special Summon from your Extra Deck 1 Xyz monster that is 1 Rank higher than that target, using that target as the Xyz Material. If the targeted monster is an 'ALO' Xyz Monster, you may Special Summon 1 Xyz Monster that is 2 Ranks higher than it instead. This Special Summon is treated as an Xyz Summon. Attached Xyz Materials also becomes Xyz Materials on the summoned monster.)
"With Nato gone, we're not completely defenseless!" Azuma said.
"True. But what of your partner's monster?" Natane asked, as Leonidas was sent away.
"Don't mind it, Azuma-san! It's better than saying that he got destroyed at least!" Seth assured.
"You heard him. And with Baran, when he's summoned, all my opponents' monsters go to Defense Mode! Numbing Detonation!" Azuma continued, as Baran raised his hammer.
At this point, Siba found another Action card. "Action Magic, Bird Cage! One monster on the field have their effects negated! And who better than Baran?" A cage suddenly emerged from the ground and trapped the Xyz Monster.
(Bird Cage: Action Magic: Target one monster on the field; that monster has its effects negated this turn.)
"Now, if I can continue with my move, Snuff and Citra's effect! Because both were sent to the Graveyard from my deck, for Snuff, I can excavate one more card, and for Citra, all Plant-type monsters currently on my field gain 300 ATK and DEF!" As Natane's monsters gain more power, she revealed the top card of her deck.
Sherman, Wise Tree of Shinra: 2600 + 300 = 2900 ATK/2100 + 300 = 2400 DEF
Oreia, Tranquility God of Shinra: 2800 + 300 = 3100 ATK/2500 + 300 = 2800 DEF
"The card I excavated is Peas, Peacekeeper of Shinra! When this card is sent from deck to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Plant-type monster from my Graveyard! And I choose to bring Blade!" An adult-like traveler appeared on the field, wearing nature-like travel clothes.
Blade, Leaf Bouncer of Shinra: Level 4/EARTH/Plant/1900 ATK/700 DEF
Seeing their field filled with strong monsters that would do more than simply taking out their Life Points in one go, Azuma quickly ran, seemingly to find an Action card of sort.
"I will switch War God - Shiranui back to Attack Mode! Battle! War God - Shiranui! Attack Baran! Flaming Phoenix Strike!" With the flames on his sword forming into a phoenix, Siba's Synchro Monster charged at the lone monster on Azuma and Seth's field.
Seth managed to snatch a card from a wooden bird. "Action Magic, Avoid! This card negates one monster's attack!" Baran dodge-rolled out of the way of the flaming attack.
"I still have some monsters on me. Oreia! You're next! Vermillion Wind Slash!" Natane's Xyz monster's wings glowed as it flapped them hard, sending out air blades at Baran.
Azuma herself managed to find a card. "Action Magic, Encore! This lets me reuse the effect of an Action Card in my Graveyard! And since my and Seth's Graveyard are shared, this card allows me to use Avoid from his grave and negate the attack of your monster!" Baran leapt over the attack.
"Still have one monster! Sherman! Attack Baran! Nature's Force!" Sherman called upon some roots from the ground below to attack the Xyz Monster.
Just as Seth was about to get another Action card to protect his partner's monster, Siba called out, "Action Magic, Crush Action! Any Action Magic added to our hand this turn is destroyed!"
"Wait, what?!" the ninja You Show duelist gasped, as he just got the card, only for it to disperse into pixels. As a result, with nothing to protect Baran, Azuma's monster got destroyed, and they took some damage from the attack.

"And with how your Life Points are, Blade has just enough ATK to end this duel! Go! Leaf Blade!" Natane's remaining monster did as told and charged at Azuma.
"From my hand, I activate ALO Navigation Pixie, Yui's effect! If a monster declares an attack that would inflict Battle Damage to me and reduce my Life Points to zero, I can Special Summon her and negate that attack!" Azuma countered, summoning out a pixie-like Fairy-type monster from her hand, summoning up a barrier that blocked the attack.

"Whew... Just made it," Yui sighed in relief.
"And with her effect, if the monster whose attack she negated has a Level, I can Special Summon an 'ALO' monster from my deck with the same level as it or lower, and her Level becomes the same as the summoned monster!" Azuma continued. "Through her effect, I'll summon out ALO Spriggan, Kirito!" Appearing on her field was the black, male fairy Qing recognized.

"Papa!" Yui cried out in joy.
"Hey there, Yui. Don't worry; papa's here to make things right now," Kirito assured his daughter.
'They're family?' Qing couldn't help but wonder.
"A monster with an unknown ATK and DEF? I'd rather not attack and find out what would happen then. Not that I can anyway," Natane said. "I'll end my turn with one card face down and end my turn."
Seth came to a stop when she did, taking a break from all that running and jumping around. "Then it's my turn. Draw!" He drew his next card. "I summon out Darkus Centipoid from my hand!" His centipede monster appeared on the field.
Darkus Centipoid: Level 4/DARK/Insect/2000 ATK/100 DEF
"And I'll use his effect! By switching him to Defense Mode, I can Special Summon out a DARK monster from my Graveyard! In doing so, though, I take 200 points of damage times that monster's Level! In exchange for 600 of our Life Points, I will summon back Darkus Gargonoid to our field!" Seth's Tuner Monster returned from the grave.

"And now I will tune my Level 4 Darkus Centipoid with my Level 3 Darkus Gargonoid! Dark warrior who wish to rule all, descend now and lead the path of truce! SYNCHRO SUMMON! Appear now, Level 7! Darkus Vladitor!" A black and purple armored knight appeared on the field.

"Darkus Vladitor's effect! When he's Synchro Summoned using a non-tuner 'Darkus' monster, he gains half of that monster's ATK! Centipoid's ATK is 2000! So he gains 1000 ATK!"

"Now we battle! Go, Vladitor! Let's start with attacking Blade! Dark Sphere Impact!" As he declared that attack, not only did Seth run to find an Action card, but his newly summoned monster gathered some dark energy in his hand, forming a sphere in it.
"Trap Card, Shiranui Style Swallow's Slash, activate!" Siba countered. "With this card, by tributing a Zombie-type monster, I target two cards on the field and destroy them both! I will gladly sacrifice War God - Shiranui and destroy both Vladitor and Kirito!" The said Synchro monster poured in a lot of energy in his blade, causing it to glow as he prepared to strike down the two targets.
Azuma managed to snatch an Action card. "Action Magic, Bird Flock Block! This negates the effect of a card on the field!" Like with Bird Flock Attack, the wooden birds came to life again and dove straight towards Siba's trap and War God - Shiranui, causing the latter to disperse.

Natane grabbed an Action card, but grimaced slightly at the sight of it. "Action Magic, Attack Force! This raises a monster's ATK by 600! I'll use this on Blade and take less damage than intended!" As her weakest monster's ATK increased, Vladitor shot his sphere at him and destroyed him.

"When he destroys a monster by battle, I activate Vladitor's effect! By banishing a 'Darkus' monster from my Graveyard, my opponent loses more Life Points equal to half that monster's ATK! I'll banish Warius from my Graveyard! Dark Sphere Shockwave!" As a spirit of Darkus Warius appeared by Vladitor's side, it formed into an orb in which the Synchro monster grabbed and slammed down on the ground. Shockwaves came from where he slammed the orb and made its way to Siba and Natane, dealing additional damage to them.

"Azuma-san! Can Kirito...?" Seth tried to ask.
"Go for it! Specifically the Xyz Monster!" she allowed.
"Okay! Kirito! Attack Oreia!"
"Leave it to me!" Kirito charged at his opponent.
"Kirito's effect! When he battles an opponent's monster, once per turn, his ATK and DEF becomes 100 points higher than the ATK of the monster he battles!" Azuma explained. To their opponent's shock, Kirito's ATK increased and his sword glowed.

Natane snatched a card from a bush. "Action Magic, Battle Change! This changes a monster's attack target! Sherman, protect Oreia!" The wise tree moved from its spot and took the intended attack.
Siba and Natane: 350 LP

Everyone was shocked to see her protect her strongest monster instead of letting the attack go through and take less damage.
"Why did she do that?" Futoshi asked.
"She could've taken less damage if she let the attack go through, so why?" Ayu wondered.
"Hmm... What if they need Oreia for something?" Kai wondered.
"That sounds possible..." Gong said. "However, they don't come from the same Duel School."
"I have a bad feeling about this," Qing said.
"I'll end my turn with one card face-down," Seth ended.
"At this time, Kirito's ATK returns to normal," Azuma added, as her monster's ATK went back to normal and unknown.
ALO Spriggan, Kirito: 3200 -} ? ATK/3200 -} ? DEF
"My turn. Draw!" Siba drew his next card. "I activate the Magic card, Foolish Burial! With this card, I can send a monster from my deck to my Graveyard! From my deck, I'll send Shiranui Spiritmaster to the Graveyard!" Siba sent the said card to the Graveyard slot. "Next, I activate the Magic card, Book of Life - Forbidden Magic! This card allows me to Special Summon a Zombie-type monster from my Graveyard, while at the same time banish a monster from my opponent's Graveyard! Through this effect, I'll bring back my War God!" His powerful Synchro monster appeared back on the field.
"He brought back his Synchro monster!" Futoshi exclaimed.
"And it just gets worse..." Tatsuya added.
"Because War God - Shiranui was Special Summoned, I can banish one Zombie-type monster from my graveyard and he gains ATK from that monster! I'll banish Spiritmaster!" The spirit of the monster he just sent to the Grave appeared and fused with the War God.
War God - Spiritmaster: 3000 + 1500 = 4500 ATK
"And next is Spiritmaster's effect! Because he was banished, I can destroy one face-up card on the field! I'll use this effect to get rid of Kirito!" With a swing of his sword, War God sent a blade of flames at Azuma's monster.
"Action Magic, Mirror Barrier! A monster on the field can't be destroyed by card effects!" Azuma defended, snatching an Action card, as a clear barrier appeared around her monster.
"Action Magic, No Action! This negates the effect of an Action Card and destroys it!" Natane countered, as an arrow appeared and struck through Mirror Barrier, leaving Kirito vulnerable to the strike, as he met his destruction.
"Gah!" he screamed out.
"Papa!" Yui cried out.
"And now we battle! War God - Shiranui! Attack Vladitor! Flaming Phoenix Strike!" It was another battle between Synchro monsters, as Vladitor tried to block Shiranui's attack, only to be beaten in the end.

Seth and Azuma: 400 LP
"And now I'll have Oreia attack Yui! Vermillion Wind Slash!" Natane's monster was next to attack, as it unleashed some powerful blades of wind at the remaining monster.
Azuma spotted an Action card, but was unfortunately too far to get to it.
"Trap card, Darkness Barrier!" came Seth's voice. "If my opponent's monster declares an attack while I control only one monster, by banishing a 'Darkus' monster in my graveyard of the same level as the monster I control, the monster battling can't be destroyed by battle! Protect her, Centipoid!" The Insect-type monster appeared on the field and took the attack for Yui.

"Wow! What a play!" Nico commented. "Seth used his card to protect his partner's monster! Now that is a play worthy of a Tag Duel!"
Azuma looked at him in shock, as he could've just let the attack go through since they wouldn't lose any more Life Points, as Yui was in Defense Mode. "You..." she breathed out.
"You have my back, I have your's," he told her.
Azuma nodded to his words and focused her attention back to the duel.
"Well, I don't have anything else to play. I end my turn," Siba ended. At the same time, his monster's ATK returned to normal.
War God - Spiritmaster: 4500 - 1500 = 3000 ATK
"Then it's my turn. Draw!" Azuma drew her next card. "Magic card, Pot of Greed activate! This lets me draw two cards from my deck!" She drew two more cards. She grimaced at the two cards she drew.
'Resurrection of the Dead and Level Glitch...' she thought. 'Resurrection of the Dead allows me to Special Summon back a monster from any Graveyard, and Level Glitch lets me have one monster become the same level as another monster. However, in exchange, if I use that monster as a material to summon out a monster from my Extra Deck, not only would that monster lose ATK and DEF equal to that monster's, that monster also cannot attack or use their effects.'
(Level Glitch: Normal Magic: Target two monsters on the field. The first target's level becomes the same as the second target's. If the first target was used as a material to summon out a monster from the Extra Deck, the monster summoned loses ATK and DEF equal to the first target and cannot attack or use its effects the turn it was summoned.)
"Azuma-san!" Yui called, grabbing her duelist's attention. Azuma saw her pointing somewhere and looked over to see an additional card, an Action Card at that, set on the field. She looked up and saw her partner jumping around and getting whatever Action card he finds and setting them in the Duel Disk.
"Hm? What is...? Seth is grabbing Action cards one after another and is setting them onto the field!" Nico announced in shock.
"The rule of Action field is that we can have one Action card in our hand per. However, it didn't say anything about setting them onto the field!" Seth pointed out, raising the crowd's excitement.
Watching this, Azuma saw what the ninja You Show duelist was doing, especially with how easily he was finding the cards. 'Back when he was running and jumping around, it wasn't just to find an Action card to use; it was to find them so he can get to them easily! And by doing that... since he sees what card he's getting and setting them, he can use them at any time to give me some support.' A smile formed on her face. 'That Qing girl... she has some good friends.'
"From my hand, I activate the Magic card, Resurrection of the Monster! This lets me Special Summon a monster from a Graveyard to our field! Return to us, Darkus Vladitor!" Seth's Level 7 Synchro monster appeared back on the field in Attack Mode. "Next I activate the Magic card, Level Glitch! A monster on the field becomes the same level as another monster! However any monster I use it to summon loses ATK equal to it and cannot attack or use its effect on the turn it's summoned!"
"But what good would that do?!" Futoshi questioned.
"Even if she summons out a monster, it won't do much!" Kai exclaimed.
"I wonder if that is true..." Bella muttered.
"Using this card's effect, I change Yui's Level to 7! Same as Vladitor!" Azuma called.
"Right!" Yui nodded, as her Level grew.
ALO Navigation Pixie, Yui: Level 4 -} 7
"And now I Overlay the Level 7 Yui and Vladitor to build an Overlay Network!" Hearing those words shocked almost everyone in the audience, as the two monsters leapt into a portal. "Formed from the ritual darkness to slaughter those that stands against you! Descend now! XYZ SUMMON! Appear now, Rank 7! ALO Boss, Envy the Witch!" A purple-skinned witch with a broomstick in hand appeared on the field, letting out a mischievous giggle as a pair of Overlay Units circled around her.

"And because of Level Glitch's effect, Envy's ATK and DEF gets reduced by Yui's ATK and DEF!" Azuma said, as her monster's ATK and DEF went down.
ALO Boss, Envy the Witch: 2800 - 100 = 2700 ATK/2000 - 100 = 1900 DEF
"I hope you know that it's still useless! You told us your monster can't attack because of Level Glitch!" Natane reminded her.
"Not with this! Action Magic, Fly By Birdie! This allows a monster to attack on the turn it can't attack or when it has its attack negated!" Seth exclaimed, activating one of his face-down Action cards.
(Fly By Birdie: Action Magic: If a monster on the field can't attack, it can attack a monster. If a monster on the field has its attack negated, it can attack again on monsters.)
"Seth helped his partner's monster be able to attack!" Tatsuya gasped in shock.
"Nice one, nii-san!" Kai shouted.
"And next, Action Magic, Follow Wing and Restore! With Restore, a monster whose ATK is different from its original ATK returns to normal! And with Follow Wing, this boosts the ATK of monster by 500!" Seth continued, giving Azuma's monster some more boost in power.
ALO Boss, Envy the Witch: 2700 + 100 + 500 = 3300 ATK
"Go for it, Azuma!"
"Right!" she nodded, going into the Battle Phase. "Battle! Envy the Witch! Attack Oreia! Magical Flare Burst!" Her Xyz monster swayed her broom a couple of times, having it gather some magical energy before firing it at the opposing Xyz Monster.
"Action Magic, Flight! This increases the attack of an attacked monster by 600!" Siba countered.
"Action Magic, No Action, activate!" Seth countered back. "An Action card's effect is negated and destroyed!" An arrow shot towards Siba's Action card and crushed it to pieces. Without it, Oreia was hit by Envy the Witch's attack.

Seth and Azuma: 400 LP
"But we still have some Life left!" Natane told them.
"Action Magic, Wonder Chance!" This time it was Azuma who used an Action card. "This allows a monster that attacked this turn attack again! Envy the Witch! Attack War God - Shiranui and end this duel! Magical Flare Burst!"
As Envy fired another dose of her magic at her final target, Natane managed to get another Action Card. "Action Magic, High Dive! A monster gains 1000 ATK!"
Azuma gritted her teeth as she heard this, and made a move to use Envy's effect, only to be reminded that Level Grinder prevents a monster from using it.
"Action Magic, Free Spirit!" came Seth's voice, as he activates the last Action Card on their field. "With this card, a monster with its effects negated can activate its effect!"
(Free Spirit: Action Magic: Target one monster on the field with its effects negated; that monster can activate its effect once this turn.)
Everyone was shocked to see him support his partner, as an invisible chain around Envy glowed and broke into pieces, allowing her to absorb one of her units.
"Go for it, Azuma!" Seth called out to her.
"Right! Now that Envy is able to use her effect, I will activate it! By detaching one of her Overlay Unit, I can activate one of her three effects! I'll activate her third effect, to negate the activation of an opponent's card! Frosty Prison!" Azuma declared, as Envy casted an ice spell on the Action Card, rendering it pointless. "Now go!"
The beam came closer to its target and struck, blowing the monster and the opposing duelists back and ended the duel.

WINNER: SETH AND AZUMA!
Everyone cheered at this surprising development. Here they were, seeing two duelists from different schools, using different decks, with different summon methods, and having absolutely no backstory with each other, and yet, not only did one of them was providing great amount of support for the other, but they also won their duel like true tag team partners.
"It has been decided! The winners of this Tag Duel are Seth and Azuma!" Nico announced, causing the crowd to cheer louder, as the field returned to normal.
Seth went to Azuma's side. "Hey there! Nice follow-up back there, huh?" he asked.
"How did you know Envy's effect?" Azuma asked. "I didn't summon her in any of my previous duels."
"I didn't. I noticed you wanted to use the effect and just activated the Action Card I have set. And man, those were all lucky catches~ I don't know what would happen if I didn't get any of those."
"Which brings us to 'how did you know Action cards can be set'."
"Well the rule states that we can only have one Action card in our hand, but there was nothing about how many we can have set. Good thing for my ninja skills; spotted the Action cards as I ran and jumped about and snatched whatever I could."
To hear it was nothing but luck and instincts made Azuma shake her head and chuckle. "She really does have some interesting friends here," she muttered, getting Seth's attention. "Maybe... I can join after it's over."
"Hm? What do you mean?" the ninja You Show duelist asked.
"Nothing. Just talking to myself."
