It was a cool Friday evening, 4:30 P.M to be exact as most students at Auradon Prep were in their dorms preparing their things to go home over the weekend, while some students had already left an hour earlier since on Fridays, school dismisses at 2:00 P.M. and this kind of thing of students going home in their respective states happens every two weeks.
Jay was in his and Carlos's dorm room, sitting on the edge of his bed packing up his stuff such as his clothes and toiletries in his small suitcase backpack that he got as a gift from Ben.
To this day, Jay still finds it hard to believe that he was invited to see Aladdin and Jasmine; his father's archenemies. This was the same couple that Jay's father, Jafar had hypnotized Jasmine and locked her up in an hourglass and tried to kill Aladdin but he ended up getting defeated and got sucked into the lamp while he was the red genie before he got set freed and booted off to the Isle along with the other villains. At first, Jay was wary about meeting them and what the sultan and sultana think of him but then, Jamilah and her brothers convinced him on Wednesday and yesterday that they were very nice people and they were not going to judge him just because he was Jafar's son.
Jay pursed his lips in a firm line before biting his lower lip. 'Aladdin and Jasmine are probably nice because they were in shock that their kids invited me, as there's no way for them to be nice to a VK.' He thought warily.
And he stood by that thought as there was no way Aladdin and Jasmine were going to like him, let alone have an ounce of adoration for him. No, there's no way.
As Jay continued to pack his things into his suitcase, he became more nervous and wary to the point where he felt his heart race rapidly and his palms started to sweat, as if he was doing an hour-long Tourney practice.
'Snap out of it, Jay! Just be calm. Aladdin and Jasmine are going to like you,' Jay thought to himself. Although if he was being frank, this was how Jamilah would tell him. And now that he thought about it, he could hear Jamilah's voice telling him the same thing.
Damn it! I need to be calm….
Jay gulped as his throat was itching him as he placed his deodorant spray into the small, meshy compartment of the suitcase before closing and zipping it up. He then whistled, signaling that he was done packing.
Suddenly, Jay's ears perked up at a soft sound before hearing a clicking sound, as if someone was clicking their tongue. He then looked up from his suitcase to the door where he saw Mal casually leaning against the door frame with her arms folded across her chest. She then smirked at him.
Jay blinked. "Hey, Mal! How long you've been here?"
Mal gave her closest friend a simple wave as she straightened her posture and stepped into the dorm.
"Hey, and I've been here just now," she replied. " I see that you're done packing?" Mal noted, sounding more like she was Jay a question as she planted her hands on her hips and stood in front of Jay.
Jay smiled softly as he patted the suitcase beside him. "All done."
Mal nodded. "Are you still nervous about meeting Aladdin and Jasmine?"
Jay's smile faltered when Mal asked him this question. He'd told Mal about how the Agrabah siblings had invited him to the palace to meet their parents on Wednesday, and he freaked out when he told her. Mal guessed by now that Jay should be calm, but the look on her friend's face told her otherwise.
"I take that you're still nervous?"
Jay ran his fingers through his long, silky hair. He didn't wear his usual red beanie this time."Yeah, I'm wary of how Aladdin and Jasmine are going to react when they see me."
Mal shook her shoulders slightly. "I mean, if you tell me that their kids are attracted to you and being very kind to you, then it would be no surprise if Aladdin and Jasmine are like that."
Mal was right, Aziz, Jamilah, and Emir were attracted to Jay, especially Aziz and Jamilah and he doesn't know why. He pondered if it was because he was from Agrabah (even though he was born on the Isle) like them or had a similar demeanor to Aladdin. Only time would tell before Jay knew the real truth.
"Yeah, but they were probably like that because they might be in shock as to their kids inviting me," Jay said, doubtfully.
"You're overreacting, Jay," Mal told him as she rolled her eyes. "Based on my understanding, Aladdin and Jasmine seem like they're genuinely kind people, and they'd be disappointed if they hear you say that."
Jay digested Mal's words for a moment and he realized he was overreacting. He probably needs to calm down.
Jay took a deep breath and said, "You're right, Mal. I am overreacting, but I can't help it. I'm the son of their enemy."
"I understand that, Jay," Mal said softly. "But I don't think the Sultan and Sultana would have a grudge against you because Jafar is your dad."
Jay hummed. "I guess you're right."
Mal had a proud smirk on her face. "Aren't I always right?" She stretched her hand and then playfully rubbed Jay's head.
Jay shook his head in amusement and let out a small chuckle once as Mal removed her hand from his head and took a step back. Jay got up from his bed before straightening the edge of the bed and took up his suitcase from the bed, placed it on the floor, and pulled the handle, ready to pull on the ground.
"So are you ready?" Mal asked, her light green eyes scanning her handsome friend up and down.
Jay nodded. "Yeah as I'm not too nervous now."
"That's the spirit!" The purple-haired girl smiled and Jay returned the gesture. "Trust me, you're going to be fine. You're in good hands."
"Thanks, Mal," Jay said, sounding grateful.
"You're welcome," Mal replied. "Although, if you feel uncomfortable," she held a finger. "You know what do." Mal knew that Jay wasn't going to be uncomfortable as long as he was staying with the Agrabah royal family but she was telling him this just to make him feel less of a bundle of nerves.
"But how?"
"I'm a dragon, remember? And I know the directions to find you."
Jay's mouth gaped slightly, wanting to ask but he decided not to.
"So, what about you?" Jay asked as he slowly moved away from his bed. "Are you nervous about spending time with Ben and his parents?"
Mal shook her head and gave Jay a reassuring smile. "I'm kinda nervous, to be honest, but I'm more excited than anything."
"Good for you. How about Evie and Lil Pup? They haven't told me who they're staying with."
Mal hummed. "Evie says she's staying with Doug and his family and exploring Charmington. And she may meet Snow White. As for Carlos, I think he said that he's staying with Fairy Godmother."
Jay grinned. "Nice!" He thought that Carlos was staying with Fairy Godmother was a good idea because Carlos had told him a few days ago that he had a crush on Jane.
"Well then, I'll be leaving now," Jay said to Mal before he walked passed her and headed towards the door.
"Don't forget to video chat us tonight!" Mal called out.
"Sure thing!" Jay replied aloud over his shoulder and left his dorm.
…
By the time Jay arrived at the school entrance, he saw the Agrabah siblings from a distance, huddled together with their bags as if they were waiting on something.
Jay frowned slightly. He wondered if the Agrabah siblings were waiting on him or their limousine. It would be most likely the former because it would be unfair if they left him.
Just then, the long-haired boy called out, "Hey guys, I'm over here!"
Hearing Jay's voice, the three siblings turned their heads and saw their new friend from afar and began to walk towards him.
The moment that Jamilah made her way towards Jay, he had locked his eyes on her and gaped in awe.
Jay knew clearly from the get-go that Jamilah was a beautiful girl from the beginning, but her beauty emanated from her more than ever. Maybe it was because Jay saw that Jamilah had on little to no makeup up and she wore a warm orange crop top and slim, open-side harem pants, showing off her curves.
' Whoa,' Jay thought with a slight intrigued smirk tugging on his lips. Sure, he'd seen pretty girls before on the Isle and Auradon, but it seems as if Jamilah took the cake.
While Jay stared at the Agrabah princess longingly for a few moments, he didn't notice that Aziz stepped in front of the long-haired boy, blocking him from looking at his younger sister any longer.
"Earth to Jay," Aziz called as he waved his hand to Jay's face to get his attention and it worked.
"Huh?" Jay snapped back to reality and realized that Aziz was standing in front of him with his arms across his chest as their noses were merely inches away from each other.
"I know that my baby sister is very pretty, but you need to stop giving her googly eyes. It's getting weird," Aziz commanded Jay despite sounding nonchalant.
Jamilah turned and knitted her eyebrows at her older brother, annoyed. "Az, please stop saying that. I'm going to be 16 in mid-December."
"Doesn't matter," Aziz tore his eyes away from Jay to her. "You're still my baby sister."
Jamilah groaned and rolled her eyes as her older brother chuckled.
Meanwhile, Emir just shook his head in amusement at his older siblings' bickering before he slowly approached Jay with a warm smile on his face.
"Ignore those two," Emir said, jerking his thumb over his shoulder at Jamilah snapping at her brother telling him to stop calling her 'baby sister'. "They're most of the time like this."
Jay snorted and rolled the suitcase closer to his leg. "I can't imagine when they're alone."
"Yeah," Emir rubbed the back of his neck with his freehand. "Anyways, I'm glad you made it. We were kinda worried what was taking you so long to come?"
Jay chuckled nervously. "Well as you can see, I was packing up," he gestured towards his suitcase and Emir's eyes landed on it.
"Oh.." Emir mouthed before he let out a chuckle. "Y'know, you don't have to pack such a suitcase. It's not like we're spending a week or a month at home, but since you didn't know, I'll let it slide."
"Um.." Jay bit his bottom lip and flushed. "Yeah, I didn't know. Besides, I think this suitcase can carry like a backpack too, so technically I don't lose."
Emir raised his eyebrows at Jay. "It's cool man. Don't kill yourself about it," the young Agrabah prince reassured as he searched Jay up and noticed that he was wearing his usual leather outfit. Emir rose a brow.
"Um…" Emir trailed off and huffed. "I dunno if you know this but Agrabah is a very hot place. So wearing leather is not a good idea unless you wanna be baked in the sun."
Jay flushed even more and grumbled under his breath. "I'm used to wearing leather all my life. So it kinda feels weird to change into something different."
Emir nodded in understanding."Again, I'm not bashing you, I'm just saying that you didn't know about so it's okay. Don't stress yourself about it."
Jay smiled gratefully at the young prince. "Thanks, dude."
After the two boys had their conversation, they could still hear Aziz and Jamilah bickering. Emir huffed and rolled his eyes.
"Are they still prolonging that?" Jay asked with a smothered smile plastered on his face as he searched Emir's facial features and could tell he was blatantly irritated.
Emir sighed. "Oh yeah. It's getting annoying now," he then turned his the direction of his older siblings and shouted, "Could you two please shut up?!"
Aziz and Jamilah gazed at their youngest sibling in shock. Normally, Emir would ignore them, but this time, they were getting on his nerves and he wasn't having it, especially if there was a guest right there listening to their childish bickering.
When Emir saw that his older brother and sister were quiet, he had a satisfied smirk on his face. "Thank you," and shortly after, he focused his attention back on Jay.
"You shut them up," Jay noted as he looked over Emir's head and saw that the older siblings were quiet and waiting on the limousine.
"Uh huh," Emir nodded. "I love my siblings but oh my goodness, they can be annoying and I'm a guy who doesn't like to be annoyed."
"Hehe," Jay chuckled softly. "That's your siblings for you," naturally, Jay patted the young prince's tousled hair and it took Emir by complete surprise. Usually, Emir doesn't get head-pats other than from Aziz, Jamilah, Shang, or his father Aladdin but with Jay, it felt as if he was his brother or something.
But don't get it wrong, Emir likes to get head pats, it's just that he didn't expect it from Jay.
After what seemed like forever, at least to Jay (let's face it; it's only 10 minutes), the limousine finally arrived and stopped in front of Aziz. Moments later, the chauffeur opened his door stepped out of the limo, and bowed slightly at Aziz and Jamilah before opening the door to let the princess in. Jamilah then thanked the chauffeur and entered the limo with her bag before her brother.
As soon as Aziz went into the limo, Emir and Jay made their way over to the limo but not before Jay asked, "So, are we driving straight to Agrabah or…?"
"Nah, we're going to the Auradon International Airport. It would take hours for us to get to Agrabah," Emir replied as he stepped into the vehicle.
Jay's eyes widened but he didn't say anything afterwards as he went into the limo last.
When all four teens were in the limo, the chauffeur gently closed the door entered his driver's seat started the engine, and drove off.
….
About an hour later….
The teens arrived at the Auradon International Airport where they stepped out of the limo in the parking lot and thanked the chauffeur before he left. The teens then saw the small Agrabah royal private plane at the airplane apron further to the right, waiting on them.
Jay had to cover his ears because there were loud airplane engine noises or the planes were taken off. He looked over at his friends and was shocked that they didn't cover their ears as they made their way over to the private plane. He wondered if the Agrabah siblings were deaf or something.
"Guys!" Jay shouted loud enough so that the 3 siblings could hopefully hear him as another airplane took off and soared above him.
Jamilah's ears perked up at Jay's shouting and whirled around. She raised an eyebrow at her friend when she noticed he was covering his ears.
"Jay, what are you doing?" She asked, her hands planted on her lips.
"Trying not to get deaf?" Jay replied, sounding obvious and his answer was almost as if he was questioning the girl. "Why aren't the 3 of you covering your ears?! Aren't y'all afraid of getting deaf?"
Jamilah paused in her tracks while her two brothers were ahead of her and Jay as they were making their way towards the private airplane, which was close by. The girl then blinked for a split second before she rolled her brown eyes and grabbed Jay's right hand she dragged Jay and he was flustered.
By the time Jamilah and Jay reached the small private plane, Jay looked to his left and saw three female flight attendants and he waved shyly at them after Jamilah told them good evening and walked on the stairs and into the luxury plane. Jay then turned his head over his shoulder, checking to see if his suitcase backpack was in good condition (along the way heading towards the plane, Jay was paranoid if he had left his backpack), and went upstairs. The flight attendants followed suit after Jay.
When Jay entered the plane, his eyes widened in shock and his jaw dropped to the floor.
The interior of the private plane looked exactly like the luxury interior of the limo that Jay was in a couple of minutes ago in his opinion. The plane had 4 seats; 2 on his left and 2 on his right where 3 of them were occupied by the siblings, a small coffee table in the middle of the walkway with a bowl of fruits, a couch further away from Jamilah's left and lastly, a medium-sized flat screen tv was hung in the middle, just above the coffee table.
'Whoa….' Jay thought.
While Jay was standing there, looking around in awe, Aziz who was sitting beside him smiled softly at the long-haired boy.
"I know our private plane is nice and all but you have to take a seat. The plane is ready to take off now.
"Oh," Jay flushed as he took his seat in front of Aziz and across Jamilah, who shook her head in amusement, but if she was honest, she thought that Jay was cute, like a little boy looking around at a cool amusement park.
As Jay settled in his seat and placed his suitcase backpack in front of him, he let out a long sigh with his head leaned back as the comfortable seat swallowed him and closed his eyes, humming.
Jamilah gazed at her friend almost longingly and had a tiny smile that blanketed her face. She then huffed softly before bowing her head and closing her eyes.
As if he was sensing them, Jay opened his left eye and glanced at Jamilah, then Emir, and noticed that they were bowing their heads. He raised a brow. Are they relaxing, taking a quick nap, or praying? Jay pondered.
Jay decided to look over his seat and saw Aziz doing the same. Huh, weird, but Jay thought it cool to see the Agrabah siblings in sync.
After what seemed like a minute, according to Jay, the royal siblings opened their eyes and straightened their heads. Jay was thinking about asking but he didn't bother to.
"All of you kids have on your seatbelts?" The pilot asked as he turned around.
"Yes, sir," the siblings chorused.
Jay's eyes widened in shock as he looked down and saw that he didn't have on his seatbelt. So he immediately found his seatbelt and wasted no time buckling it.
"Yes, sir!" Jay replied a soft pink blush dusting his chiseled cheeks.
"Alright then, get ready for take-off," the pilot said as he started up the plane, preparing it for take-off.
Jay leaned back in his seat, drumming his fingers nervously on the armchair as the plane engine roared to life and got ready to leave. Jamilah and Emir stared at him with a slightly worried look on their faces while Aziz was busy texting his girlfriend, Nina.
And with that said, the plane finally took off and into the air, heading to Lone Keep.
…
After an hour and a half later….
Jay felt his palm becoming sweaty as he entered into the palace grounds, trembling. If he was honest, he was less thrilled about seeing the huge, colorful domes of the Agrabah royal palace and more terrified of meeting his father's enemies.
Meanwhile, in a complete opposite of Jay, the siblings were more than excited to come home and see their parents because why wouldn't they?
As the young royals made them towards their home, Jay just glued to his spot, frozen, and anxiety washed over him then trepidation. He doesn't think he could do this.
While Princess Jamilah was walking at a relatively normal pace, she had an odd feeling that something was missing, and she looked to her right and didn't see Jay. She paused abruptly and turned around quickly as she fixed her eyes on the aforementioned boy who was a distance away from them frozen in his spot.
Jamilah gasped. "Jay!" She then ran towards her friend and shook his shoulder. Aziz and Emir saw this and jogged over to Jay as well.
"Are you okay?" Jamilah asked worriedly as she searched his face. "You look pale."
"Yeah man," Aziz said, worry creasing his brow. "Is your anxiety acting up again?"
Jay didn't say anything but nodded slowly.
"Jay," Jamilah began, her voice soft. "You don't have to feel anxious about meeting our parents. They're super nice people and they'll love you," the princess went on Jay's right and proceeded to lace her hand with Jay's and squeezed it tightly in an attempt to reassure him.
Jay's brown eyes widened at the fact Jamilah held his hand. He slowly laced his fingers with hers, realizing that her fingers were dangerously soft.
Aziz wrapped an arm around Jay's burly shoulders. "My sister's right, our parents are amazing people and you don't have to worry about anything."
Hearing this, Jay felt less tense and anxious, and more relaxed.
"I guess you guys are right," Jay told the siblings. "I feel a little better now."
The 3 siblings smiled. "That's the spirit!" Aziz said cheerfully. " C'mon, let's go, they're waiting for us."
Jay nodded as the 4 of them walked together towards the Agrabah royal palace, with them having their arms wrapped around each other's shoulders like a chain that cannot be broken.
Jay just hoped that everything would go smoothly.
