Jay was looking around the hallway in awe, nothing any of the royal siblings said matched this. Jay didn't know much about architecture but he knew this was some of the best there was judging by the quality of the designs on the wall. If Jay had remembered correctly, his father used to tell him that the Agrabah royal palace was marvelous beyond one's comprehension and he was right, this palace was truly spectacular. As he continued to admire everything while he was heading towards his guest room, Jay saw a familiar brunette (whose hair was tied up in a messy bun) up ahead and immediately Jay knew who it was.
Lonnie.
Lonnie was standing near the doorway of what seemed to be her room as she looked down on her phone and had on a bright pink headphone, apparently selecting and listening to music. She was completely unaware or didn't sense Jay's presence. And probably she wasn't ready for bed as yet.
Jay wore a smirk on his handsome face. Now he had the chance to talk to Lonnie since he wanted to do this for a while as she ignored him when he was trying to flirt with her a few weeks back. He's also glad that her room was next to his so that they could hang out more often.
He hoped.
With that said Jay shook his head slightly as he inhaled and exhaled before heading towards the brunette.
When the long-haired boy went beside Lonnie, she still was listening to music and unaware that Jay was beside her.
Jay cleared his throat, and greeted, "Hey, Lonnie," he hoped whatever song Lonnie was listening to wasn't too loud that she couldn't hear him.
Unfortunately for Jay, Lonnie didn't hear him.
Jay sighed and tried again but this time, he gently tapped on her shoulder. Now that Jay thought about it, he should have done this from the beginning. 'Stupid me,' Jay thought as he mentally slapped himself. The moment when Lonnie felt someone tapping her shoulder, flinched slightly as she turned around and faced Jay with her brown eyes widened, startled.
Jay had a tiny smile on his face and gave Lonnie a small smile. "Hey there,"
It took a couple of moments for Lonnie to snap back into reality and reply. "Um hey, Jay," she stammered with a light flush dusting her rosy cheeks. "I didn't notice your presence. You were saying something?"
The long-haired boy casually leaned against the wall and folded his arms across his broad chest. "Yeah, I was greeting you, but you were…" Jay paused as he unwrapped his arms and pointed at his ear. "You were immersed in your little musical world."
Hearing this made Lonnie blush. "Sorry about that. I was trying to find a good song to vibe to but," she sighed as she took off her headphones placed them around her neck, and pushed her phone into her pajama pants pocket. "So what's up?"
Jay looked at the girl up and down for a moment and noticed that she was wearing a sleeveless Melody printed(from Hello Kitty) pajama top and matching pants. If Jay was honest with himself, he thought that Lonnie looked cute in her pajamas.
"Jay?"
"Huh?" Jay snapped out of his gaze. "Oh, what you were saying? I was just admiring your cute pj's."
Lonnie blushed again and looked down at her clothes before fixing her brown eyes on Jay. "Oh, this? Dad bought it for my birthday last year, and it still felt like yesterday."
"That's cool," Jay said. "And it's cooler that your room is next to mine, that way we could hang some more," he winked.
Lonnie saw this and laughed lightly with a flush. "This has been my room since I was little, but I don't see an issue with us hanging out when we visit Aunt Jasmine and Uncle Aladdin. Unless you stop flirting with girls at school, Mr. Flirt." Lonnie proceeded to lightly punch Jay in his abs.
Jay flushed slightly and laughed softly. "Okay, okay, I'll stop but girls at Auradon Prep are pretty easy to sway, if I'm being honest."
"Yeah, it's because they're giddy for hot guys like you."
"Oh? So you're calling me hot?" Jay teased lightly as he wriggled his brows at the brunette.
Lonnie blushed deeply. "Look, you're very pretty okay!" She stammered.
Jay continued to laugh lightly as he took a step forward, and Lonnie could feel her face getting warm up. Her heart was beating faster than lightning when Jay was inches away from her.
As the two teens continued to have their little chat, unbeknownst to them, Li'l Shang was approaching them from behind, as if he was heading to his room while reading the novella that Jamilah gave him when he looked up from the book and saw Jay and Lonnie were having their conversation and Jay teasing her.
As he saw this, Shang stopped in his tracks as he was a few distances away from the two and lowered the novel with a menacing smirk tugging his lips.
If Shang remembered correctly, a few days ago, Lonnie had confessed to him that she had a tiny crush on Jay but she wasn't so sure how she could tell him.
Flashback:
Li'l Shang was in his dorm, just starting to read My True Love novella that he borrowed from Jamilah when his door was suddenly busted open, revealing a panicked, and somewhat flustered Lonnie.
Shang was startled by his sister's sudden appearance as he violently jolted from his bed, nearly hitting his left elbow on the small lamp stand.
'Mei Mei,' Shang began, sounding a little frightened as he adjusted himself on the bed. 'Is everything alright? Did something happen?'
Lonnie stood there at the doorway, fidgeting with her fingers. She looked as if she was guilty of a crime or something was bothering her.
'It's just that I….' Lonnie trailed off for a moment and continued with a light flush. 'I have a confession to make,' she then bit her bottom lip.
Shang's eyes widened in surprise. He didn't expect this from his younger sister. However, something dawned on Shang as he probably figured out what Lonnie was confessing to him.
'Oh, so you're having a confession, huh?' He asked, his eyebrow raised. 'That it was you who stole my brand new boxers and one of my large t-shirts the other day?'
Lonnie lets out a huge gasp. "H-how did you…?' She stuttered and shook her head to clear her head. 'Yes, I stole them and the reason was they were so comfortable! But I'm sorry. Although, that's not my confession.'
'Oh? Then what is it?'
Lonnie pursed her lips in a firm line and took a deep breath before replying. 'I-I have a tiny crush on Jay.'
After hearing Lonnie's confession, Shang huffed, sounding stunned. 'Huh? Wow….How long have you had a crush on Jay?'
'A little while after we first met in the kitchen when he tried to flirt with me.'
'Well,' Shang began as he leaned against his pillow. 'I'm the last person you should come to about this stuff as I'm overall awkward.'
'Yeah, but you're the most calm and level-headed guy. If I tell Ruby this, she's gonna be giddy and all-round excited.'
Shang could see the desperation in Lonnie's eyes and he sighed softly.
"Alright then, just I dunno hang out with Jay casually, and don't show that you have a tiny crush on him,' he told her.
'Yeah, but Jay flirts with a lot of girls,' Lonnie pointed out.
'I'm pretty sure he does that because he couldn't find the right girl. Like I said, just talk to him, and from there on, your relationship with him will eventually grow.'
After hearing this, Lonnie let her brother's advice cemented in her mind as she thought it was a reasonable idea but she wasn't so sure how to put it out.
'That sounds like a good idea but I'm too nervous,' Lonnie said warily.
'Sis, just take a deep breath and talk to Jay like you're talking to me. Jay's just a regular guy.'
'I know but,' Lonnie lowered her head and started fidgeting with her fingers again before looking at her brother. 'Okay, I'll try, but not now. Though, please don't tell anyone this!'
Shang crossed his chest with his index finger. 'I swear on Shan Yu's sword.'
End of flashback
Like how he saw Jay and Lonnie conversing without him knowing he was there, Shang thought it was a good idea for Lonnie to get closer to Jay.
So, Shang continued to walk but he walked so lightly that neither his sister nor schoolmate could hear his footsteps (good thing he walks barefooted) as he walked past Lonnie who had her back turned to him, and Shang used his left elbow to gently push his little sister closer to Jay. Once that had happened, Lonnie squeaked as her chest pressed onto Jay's chest and Shang hid his face with the novella and casually went into his room that was beside his sister's.
When Lonnie realized her chest was braced on Jay's, she immediately backed off and her face was beetroot red, while Jay was bewildered.
"Umm, what was that?" Jay asked, still reeling from the fact that Lonnie was close to him. Not that he was complaining but still.
Lonnie cleared her throat but her cheeks remained crimson. "It's my idiot brother trying to embarrass me."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I didn't know he would do this but ignore him, he's a weirdo. Like this is the same guy who collects feathers from rare birds for his bird feather collection and has a cupboard of antique teacups that he bought from the thrift store," Lonnie explained with a smirk tugging her lips. She knew for a fact that Shang was fuming in his room right now.
"Huh," Jay folded his arms and huffed. "Sure your brother is odd, but he seems chill. It seems as if he wanted us to hang out more," Jay winked at Lonnie again.
Hearing this made Lonnie stifle a groan and blush. Little did she or Jay know that her brother had poked his head from his doorway, grinning behind her.
…
In Aladdin and Jasmine's bedroom…
All 5 family members gathered in Aladdin and Jasmine's grand bedroom discussing what they found about Jay over the past few weeks. Jasmine and Aziz theorized that Jay had a similar personality to Aladdin while Emir and Aladdin agreed but Jamilah remained skeptical.
"I dunno guys," Jamilah began, sounding doubtful. "Jay is a complex character, and the more I learn about him the more it leaves me wondering if he's truly our lost brother or Jafar's kid," the young princess then used her small fingers to comb her thick raven hair.
"And that's why we're keeping a close eye on him, Sis," Emir told her.
"Oh I know," Jamilah sighed softly as she continued to take her hair.
"So do you kids find anything new about Jay?" Jasmine asked.
Aziz breathed. "Well, some time now, I just found out that Jay has scars on his back…"
Aladdin's eyes widened in shock while Jasmine gasped as she covered her mouth.
"Oh my gosh…" Jasmine shook her head in disbelief.
Aziz nodded in understanding. "I know how you feel. When I saw the scars on Jay's back in the locker room after Tourney practice, I was shocked."
"Not only Jay and the other kids were deprived of food, they were also abused…" Jasmine looked at her kids sadly. "Though, did you ask Jay how he got those scars? I wouldn't be surprised if Jafar physically abused him."
Despite not saying anything much, Aladdin was enraged without showing it. 'Why would Jafar abuse his son like that?' He thought. Then Aladdin remembered that this was Jafar they were talking about.
Aziz shook his head quickly. "Oh no I didn't, I didn't want to cause a scene and I'm pretty sure Jay wouldn't be comfortable telling me since he barely knew me and we're just slowly becoming friends." The Crown Prince then adjusted himself on his parents' bed by moving upwards from the edge of the bed.
"Oh," Jasmine looked deflated as lowered her brown eyes.
"Although," Aziz continued, causing his mother to look up at him. "When I saw those old scars, I dunno, it's like I felt Jay's pain when he was punished as if I received the same scars as him. And that was a few years ago."
"Like pain empathy?" Aladdin asked his eldest son. "I mean, it does sound like it."
Jamilah chimed. "It does sound like it. That's what Shang told me too!"
Aziz shrugged. "Yeah."
"Anything more?" Jasmine questioned as she rested her head on her husband's shoulder.
"Well, nothing out of the ordinary. Jay told me that he's fond of tigers," Jamilah responded.
"Yeah, and Jay kind of reminds me of Az and Dad," Emir added.
"Oh yeah?" Aladdin was intrigued.
Emir nodded. "Yeah, like he's agile, kind and helpful. He even treats Jamilah like his sister."
Jamilah blushed.
Hearing this made Jasmine smile softly. "That's wonderful to hear. Auradon sure changed Jay for the better."
"I agree," Jamilah nodded. "Although…" the girl turned her head to face the doorway to see if Jay passed by before focusing her attention on her family who were staring at her, confused.
"Uh, what's that for, Jamie?" Emir asked.
"Oh, I'm just checking to see if Jay passed or listening to our conversation about him as I'm pretty sure he'd be uncomfortable."
Aziz pursed his lips. "It seems fair enough."
"I'm assuming that Jay's highly suspicious huh?" Aladdin guessed.
Jamilah nodded.
"Still, we can't thank you enough for helping us find your brother, my Darlings," Jasmine told her three children, sounding grateful.
Jamilah smiled softly as she stretched her hand and took her mother's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Of course, Mom. We've been doing this since late August, and we're not gonna stop until we find him."
"That's right," Emir nodded in agreement with his older sister.
"That's wonderful but are you guys sure that looking for Jahir won't affect your schoolwork and extracurricular activities?"
"I agree with your mother here," Aladdin said.
"Mom, Dad, don't worry we have it under control," Aziz reassured them. "We can juggle it and right now, we're doing well."
"Oh," that's all Jasmine said.
"Like I said Mom and Dad, don't worry and we'll promise you that Jahir will come home," Jamilah told her parents with utmost confidence and surety in her voice, and Aladdin and Jasmine smiled at her and her brothers. They had the hope that their three kids would find their missing brother and take him home here in Agrabah, where he belongs.
…
It was close to 10:00 P.M. as Jay was leaning forward and resting his elbows on the palace balcony railing while looking over the city from a distance.
If Jay was honest with himself, it was his dream to see or visit Agrabah, specifically the palace as he wanted to explore the massive building and wonder in absolute awe with its intricate and beautiful designs, not to mention its structure.
Now, he was living the dream and while he may not be the 'prayer' type, some nights when he was on the Isle on the roof of his dad's Junk shop, he silently prayed that he could get off the treacherous Isle one day to get a better life, and his prayers were answered.
Tiny bumps were rising on Jay's skin as the cool, soft autumn breeze gently blew in his direction and greeted his skin with soft kisses while looking up at the dots of the twinkling stars coating the dark blue, almost black night sky. The moon had a dull, yet ethereal glow that masked Jay's striking countenance. Again, if he was frank, he liked the balcony as he thought it was peaceful to gaze at the night sky.
As the long-haired boy continued to enjoy the view, he felt someone's presence beside and he didn't bother to look as he knew who it was.
"Hey," the person greeted, their voice soft.
Jay smirked. "Hey, Jamie."
There was silence between the two for a moment before Jamilah spoke again.
"I see that you're enjoying the view from here," she noted with a small smile gracing her face.
"Oh yeah, I like it here. It's nice and cool," Jay said, still enjoying the view, and glanced at Jamilah for a few seconds.
Jamilah huffed softly as she too rested her elbows on the balcony railing and hummed.
"It's nice up here indeed," Jamilah said, turning her head to stare at her friend. "It's everyone's favorite spot, especially Mom's."
Jay huffed, "Lemme guess, this is where Aladdin and Jasmine had their magic carpet ride date?" He cast a glance at Jamilah.
Jamilah chuckled softly. "Yeah, this was where all the magic between Mom and Dad happened. And speaking of my parents, what do you think of staying here for the weekend so far? How's it?"
Jay breathed as he digested the girl's question before answering. "Honestly? I love it, from the palace to the food."
Jamilah smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. I'm also glad that you got rid of your fears and enjoyed yourself."
"I'm glad too," a voice said, causing both Jamilah and Jay to turn around and see that Aziz and Emir approached them with Aziz going beside Jay and Emir beside Jamilah.
Jamilah blinked at her brothers. "Oh, so how long have you two been behind us?"
"Just now," Emir replied simply. "Az and I did catch the question you asked Jay about what he thinks about our home so far."
"Yeah, and I'm happy that he enjoys his stay here," Aziz said, smiling warmly as he lightly patted Jay's back.
Jay chuckled softly. These siblings were very kind to him. "Thanks, guys, so I can always visit here?"
"Sure!" Jamilah chirped. "You're always welcome here, especially since Mom and Dad are very fond of you." She then dug into her pants pocket and took a tiger charm and slipped it into Jay's pants pocket without him or Emir noticing. She had a tiny smirk on her lips as she learned this trick from her dad.
Jay huffed again but didn't say anything, but he was happy that everyone liked him despite him being the son of Jafar.
As the 4 teens watched the beautiful night sky together, Jordan, Shang, and Lonnie watched them from the back, close to where Jasmine's old bedroom was.
"Is it just me or do the 4 of them look like legit siblings?" Jordan asked, her voice soft as she didn't Jay and company to hear them.
Shang shook his head. "Not just you, Jor. I thought Jay was their actual brother."
"Me too," Lonnie joined. "All of them look alike so," she shook her shoulders slightly.
The 3 teens fixed their eyes on the other 4 for a few minutes as Shang casually draped his arms around Lonnie and Jordan, making Jordan blush without Shang knowing. Lonnie saw this and had a devilish smirk on her face as she took her brother's arm from around her shoulder and draped it over Jordan's shoulder, making seem as if Shang was hugging the genie girl from the side, and Jordan blushed even deeper before shooting a glare at Lonnie who in return smiled sweetly at her. Lonnie did this in retaliation for what her brother did earlier in the hallway.
Shortly afterward, Shang told the girls that they should give Jay and the siblings some alone time and they agreed as the 3 of them quietly left and went into their rooms.
Meanwhile, Jay and the siblings had their arms on each other shoulders as they continued to look up at the sky with the gentle moonlight blanketing their faces.
