Returning Nightmare

An assault of 13 clones flew toward Trunks and Iolite.

Iolite tried to attack but her father put an arm in front of her, she tried to argue but Trunks gave her a look.

"Stay where you are, recover first."

She squeezed her fists, but she nodded, it took all she had to beat one of them, what can she do against an army?

A first wave of copies headed towards him, the ones from behind fired multiple Ki blasts while one ahead pulled back his fist.

Trunks in his Super Saiyan 2 state dashed forward, deflecting several of the Ki blasts as he got close to the copy ahead.

He threw a fist into one of Android 13's copies while the ones behind him continued pursuing.

While his fist was inside the abdomen of the Android, he fired a powerful Ki blast.

The attack filled the Android and disintegrated it. The energy wave also went on to destroy several other copies behind him.

Trunks raised an eyebrow, which was more effective than it should have been. He glanced back to Iolite, her Super Saiyan 2 was on par with her mother without Kaioken, if she struggled this much to fight one Android 13, he shouldn't have been able to destroy several of him with one attack.

That was good, that meant not all of them were as strong as his daughter if they'd have to run.

Another wave of copies headed for them.

And then find out who was really behind this.

At first, Trunks believed 13 when he claimed he was behind this, but it couldn't be possible. 16 had destroyed every piece of him. If he had survived, he would have acted much sooner since he and the others had grown ridiculously strong compared to the last time they fought.

No someone else had done this.

But who?

Another computer of Dr. Gero's?

That must be it, why else would 13 come back and much stronger than the last time along with this ability?

Either way, he hopes the others come to help, maybe 16 can figure out who was behind this.

For now, he needed to protect his daughter and hopefully find the Android's weakness.

Lapis had placed Joyaku and Shorz within a barrier, he one shotted several copies of the Androids while keeping the boys safe.

He was able to fight them off while keeping the kids safe along with Zangya and Lazuli. But there was a problem.

The Android glanced to Zangya, she wasn't transformed but he knows she can't keep this up as long as he and his sister.

14 and 15 seem to have an infinite supply of copies, they've destroyed three waves of them already and their numbers don't seem to dwindle.

And sooner or later Zangya's energy will dwindle.

"Zangya, take the kids and get out of here."

The Hera swiped her hand cutting the head of one Android 15.

"There could be more of them, if I leave, they will detect my energy."

"She's right!" Lazuli yelled as she blasted a copy of 14. "If we're splitting up one of us should go."

"Zangya, how are you holding up?" He asked.

"I'm fine, got plenty of energy to spare." She turned and roundhouse kicked another. "We just need to find and destroy where their coming from."

Lapis agreed, they did need to find who was behind this, but they can't have the kids unprotected.

Just as they all were fighting and unable to decide what to do a horde of copies were destroyed by a gigantic wave of energy.

All looked towards where it came from.

Android 16 floated with his arm cannons aimed out, he placed his wrists back and looked to the fighters.

"About time!" Lapis smirked. "Where have you been?"

16 landed in front of the warriors. "My apologies, Bulma was doing routine work with my AI." He explained and looked at the dozens of copies of the same pair of Androids.

"Great that you're here." Zangya sighed. "Any idea where these copies are coming from?"

The Android's eyes glowed as he scanned the area.

Yes, he knew where they are coming from, and he can sense one heading for Trunks and Iolite.

It was time for him to do his part.

"The copies are coming from that direction." He looked to his right and backhanded one of the copies of 14 as it tried to attack him from behind.

"Good" Lazuli said while looking towards a couple more copies about to attack her. "But we can't just head there, we need to get the boys out of here and somewhere safe." She explained while firing multiple Ki blast destroying the copies in her way. "And also Iolite."

"These copies aren't as strong as the originals you two killed." Lapis pointed out still floating above the barrier containing his son and nephew. "Iolite should be able to hold her own."

"Not right now." Zangya pointed out. "I can feel her energy, she used a great deal of it, we should get her to safety to." She looked to 16. "16! Can you take them all to safety."

This was just what they wanted, separate the children from the adults, and trust 16 to be the one to take them to safety.

They were playing into their hands.

16 walked towards the boys and smiled assuring them.

The boys felt comfort seeing their new uncle willing to help.

Lapis dropped the barrier.

"Go!"

16 was about to leave with the children but he stopped for a second and glanced at Zangya.

"Come with us Zangya."

The Hera was confused hearing this.

"Your energy will start to wane soon you should come with us and protect the children while we handle the main threat."

Zangya didn't want to leave her husband and sister-in-law to fend for themselves, but he had a point, she and Iolite should stay together to protect the young ones.

"Alright" She floated to Lapis and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Stay safe."

He nodded as Zangya flew off with 16 and the boys.

The brother and sister duo stood back-to-back at the surrounding Androids.

"Wanna bet who can take out the most?" He asked.

Lazuli smiled. "Loser pays for the next family outing."

The two agreed and fought off the copies of Androids keeping them way from 16 and Zangya.

As Trunks was decimating multiple copies of 13 in his Super Saiyan 2 form he glanced at Iolite who only in her Super Saiyan form was able to fend them off, but even she was struggling.

He can't just protect her, he needs to send her somewhere safe.

'Trunks!' Lazuli used her telepathy in his mind. '16 and Zangya took the boys, tell Iolite to meet them by sensing Zangya's energy!'

Trunks destroyed three copies of 13. That was good, he turned to Iolite, but he hesitated. Splitting up had come back to bite them several times, but now they had children to defend.

With her out of here, he can stop holding back.

Reluctantly Trunks appeared next to Iolite.

"Iolite, you can sense Zangya, right? Go to her she's with 16, your brother, and your cousin."

Iolite shook her head.

"I can still fight."

"Iolite," He said with an authoritative tone. "The kids need you, and I need you all safe, don't argue."

Iolite squeezed her fists being reminded of her childhood and how she needed to be protected again.

She became as strong as her uncle and mother without their Kaioken. And she needed to run. Again.

But he was right the boys needed her to be there.

"Alright," She flew off in the direction of Zangya and the boys.

While she flew off the copies of 13 flew towards her.

But Trunks fired a powerful wave of energy at the copies headed for her.

The half-Saiyan appeared ahead of the copies.

Trunks glanced at Iolite who was getting further away, he smiled and looked at the army.

"Now there's no reason to hold back." He yelled as his hair became lavender again only spiked as if he was still in Super Saiyan, with a white Aura and blue lightning.

The copies all looked nervous as they calculated his strength to be far beyond them even the clone that fought Iolite wouldn't stand a chance.

With their powers divided, they doubt they'll be able to hold them for long.

Not that they needed to, the next step should bring them victory.

Far Away

Zangya flew off with 16 and the boys.

"Mom, are you sure this is, ok?" Joyaku asked.

"Yeah, won't my mom and Uncle Lapis need help?" Shorz looked worried.

Zangya smirked at them and spoke.

"Don't worry you two, without us there those two will be able to use Kaioken without fear of harming us." She said smiling.

The two children looked at each other still worried.

"Lapis and Lazuli have decimated half of the armies already." 16 reassured them.

This put a smile on them assuring them.

"Still, where do you think these Androids came from?" Shorz asked.

"I don't know, but we'll figure it out," Zangya assured them. She looked ahead and could see Iolite.

"Auntie, uncle!" Iolite yelled at the two with a smile. She looked at Zangya and her brother and cousin. "Everyone ok?"

"We're all ok, come, we need to get somewhere safe now." She said to her.

16 pointed in a direction.

"This direction is away from the source of the Androids, once we go there, I will return to their side and lead them to the source." He looked to Zangya. "Zangya, will you defend the children?"

Iolite clenched her fists that she was counted as one of the children, but she kept quiet now wasn't the time to give into her pride.

"I will," Zangya responded and gestured a hand.

The group flew in the direction 16 had pointed at.

All the while 16's eyes glowed red.

While in Kaioken Lapis and Lazuli were decimating the armies of 14 and 15.

In their base strengths they were leagues ahead of them already, with Kaioken they were able to eliminate the copies in mass.

Lapis created a huge barrier surrounding a wave of Android 14's. By clenching his fists the orb began to get smaller and smaller.

The force field closed in on the clones, they couldn't escape and were slowly crushed by Lapis's Android Barrier.

With a smirk he snapped his fingers.

The barrier created a huge explosion destroying the copies inside.

Lazuli had her hands aimed at a wave of Android 15s heading for her.

She fired multiple pink energy shots, all enhanced with her Ki.

Each shot of her Infinity Bullet homed in on a copy, none were fast enough to escape.

Multiple small explosions appeared around the area.

Lazuli looked at her handiwork and put a hand through her hair.

The siblings noticed that no more copies of either Android were approaching.

Their Kaioken had faded and they turned to each other.

"Let's meet up with 16, Trunks is doing well against the copies from what I'm sensing."

"Right," Lazuli agreed.

"Oh no, you can't leave yet."

The duo heard a woman's voice and turned to see who it was.

A woman with long brown hair and glasses came from behind.

"We haven't been properly introduced yet." She said with a grin.

"Who are you?" Lazuli asked. "Leave, it's too dangerous here."

Lapis said nothing and focused on the woman. Specifically, her lab coat.

"Sis, look at her coat, on the shoulder."

She looked at it and saw the dreaded red ribbon symbol.

"You! You're behind this aren't you!"

21 giggled as she floated to the duo who were being cautious.

"What won't you introduce yourselves?" She asked tilting her head. "I suppose there's no need to, I know well enough about you, 17 and 18."

Lapis and Lazuli said nothing but glanced at each other before silently agreeing to let her talk to reveal as much info as she can.

"My name is Android 21." She greeted. "I am the last creation of the great Dr. Gero."

"You better be," Lapis said to her. "I didn't like seeing more of you ten years ago, clearly the doctor believed in quantity over quality."

"Oh, 17" She giggled. "You shouldn't say that to me, it's very rude, I mean I might as well be your mother."

Both siblings gave a confused look.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

21 giggled.

"I mean my design was based on Dr. Gero's wife, so I'm basically your mother, don't you think you should show me more respect?"

The duo was disturbed hearing her explanation and were angered hearing that.

"Dr. Gero wasn't our father, and you aren't our mother." Lazuli pointed out. "Now that we know who you are, you'll be joining him."

21 kept her smile. "Ooh, I see she's still in there." She thought of the other version of her from the timeline she was extracted from, she was as deadly as her at this moment. "Maybe your programming didn't suppress most of your personality like you assume, hmm?"

"What?" Lazuli asked irritated. "Who?"

"Hmm" She had half a thought to tell her what was coming but thought it would be more fun to be surprised. "Never mind, I don't want to give any spoilers."

She eyed Lapis at the side and back to Lazuli.

"How are we doing this, one of you or both at once?"

The siblings didn't like how confident she seemed.

Lapis appeared by Lazuli's side.

"What do you think, want to double-team her?"

Lazuli would have agreed, as much as she wanted to get rid of the last of Gero's projects with her own hands, teaming up would be the best strategy.

"I'm not sure, she might have other Androids working for her." She replied, taking her would make quick work of her but the idea of even more Androids lurking around." She said to him.

"16 and Trunks should be on their way here soon," Lapis responded and looked at her. "But we got no idea how strong she is."

14 and 15 were stronger than ever, if either of them were that strong when they fought Broly they would have been helpless to stop them.

So who knows how strong she is?

"Alright, let's both put an end to Gero's work." She said to him and took a fighting stance.

Lapis did so at her side.

21 didn't seem worried and smiled.

"Not very sporting of you too." She raised a fist. "Fine by me, this will help test out my new upgrades, so come on, see if you can make quick work of me."

Lazuli ran towards 21 with a stoic expression and she threw a fist for 21's face.

But 21 was able to avoid her attack.

Lazuli then rose her leg and tried to axe kick.

21 back jumped in the air as Lazuli missed and smashed the ground.

The brunette then looked up to see Lapis in the air with two energy balls and tossed them.

"Same old, same old." 21 rolled her eyes and swiped her hand firing an energy wave that destroyed the orbs.

But Lazuli appeared behind her and slammed her leg against 21's side and sent her in her brother's direction.

Lapis then slammed his fists across 21's back and it sent the woman towards the ground.

Lazuli flew down with her leg extended.

But 21 put her hands on the ground and pushed her hands on the ground.

The blonde missed her target and struck the ground.

Lapis appeared behind 21 with his arm winded back.

But 21 turned around and backhanded Lapis across the face, then she kicked into his stomach pushing him away.

Lazuli then jumped and kicked at the side of her head only for 21 to raise her arm to block it.

Lapis rose and tried to throw a punch for her mid-section.

But 21 caught it in her other hand.

"Y'know, your teamwork was always your strongest point."

She then pushed their limbs away and spun kick across the Android's faces.

The twins were pushed back and stopped themselves before going any further.

21 smirked at the duo. "So glad I got a good idea on your strength before coming here, if I came before receiving my upgrades, one of those attacks would have ended me."

Lapis and Lazuli were surprised by her strength, but they knew they can win.

At least with what she was showing right now.

While smirking she glanced in one direction, 16 was in place, good time for the next phase.

Her eyes glowed relaying a message.

16's eyes glowed red and received the message.

It isn't long now he will act soon.

The Android can see that they are further away from Trunks, if he attacks now, he can ensure that the children will make the ideal hostages.

But first he needed to take out the biggest threat.

He looked down at Zangya's back, one well-placed attack and she will fall, then he can take the children.

"16?"

The Android turned to his side to see Iolite with a concerned look.

"Are you ok?"

Looking at her he saw images of when Iolite had been born, being held in her mother's arms, and playing with her from when she was born.

Holding the baby in his arms.

"I… am fine."

16 can do the plan, he has do it.

He can detect two power levels ahead that he is supposed to take the children to, they are waiting for him to take the children to.

"Stop"

The Android told the group and so they all did and landed on the ground.

"What is it 16?" Zangya asked

The Android said nothing and looked at Zangya.

"Surrender the children to me."

All went silent hearing that, the boys who didn't know 16 long didn't say anything and looked scared.

Iolite looked at 16 and looked around to see Zangya who had a raised eyebrow.

The daughter of Trunks and Lazuli laughed and looked at 16. "Did grandma give you a sense of humor, I appreciate it 16 but come on, it's a little grim." She looked at her little brother and cousin. "I mean look, your scaring the boy-"

16 appeared behind Iolite with an arm pulled back.

"Look out!" Shorz yelled for her sister.

Zangya kicked against 16's head launching him away from them.

Iolite turned shocked.

16 stood his ground and looked down with a terrifyingly blank expression.

"16, what was that?" Iolite asked not wanting to think that it was true.

Zangya looked at 16 with a serious expression as if she wasn't surprised.

"16 what is this?" Iolite asked. "All this time we missed you and"

The Hera rose an arm to silence Iolite and she looked at 16 and she walked towards the Android.

"The moment we have more Androids, and you return to us." Zangya sighed. "I didn't want to believe it, but the timing was too perfect." She looked at the Android. "What did they do to you, you big lug?"

Iolite looked at 16 and thought of the same thing. It was only days since 16 had been brought back, not long after more Androids arrive.

She was right but does this mean that 16, the one she grew up with is gone now?

"Iolite"

The lavender haired girl looked at Zangya.

"Take the boys and go." The Hera said to her. "I'll have a talk to 16."

Iolite wanted to argue, wanted to talk to 16, but she was right. There were too many coincidences, she had to get her family to safety.

She turned to the boys, grabbed them in each arm and flew in the same direction they were heading for.

16 noticed this and looked at Zangya, he rose an arm and fired his fist at her.

Zangya caught the Rocket Punch with both hands.

To her horror 16 flew over Zangya towards the children.

She then pushed the detached fist away and tried to intervene.

16 appeared in front of the children with one missing arm.

Iolite looked up at him with a scared expression along with the boys.

The Android just stared at them, not saying a word and not doing anything.

And Zangya appeared and struck his chest sending him back.

She turned back to Iolite who seemed like a deer in headlights. "Go! Now!"

Iolite snapped out of it and dashed off.

The Hera watched her go with her son and nephew and turned to her friend turned enemy. "You terrified me."

The Android did not respond.

"You could have grabbed them, but you didn't." She said to him and looked at the direction they were going. "You didn't want us to go that way did you?"

16 took a fighting stance as his right hand returned to his wrist.

Zangya can see that even though the 16 they know is in there, he is still an enemy, they must incapacitate him somehow.

Her skin turned light green and her hair blood red.

"Fine, you don't need to speak, I'll just have to beat some sense back into you."

16 again didn't speak and flew forward.

Zangya did the same, the two began their clash, the Hera hoping to somehow bring her friend back to their family.

In Another Timeline

While the Z fighters are trying to survive the returning Androids, in another timeline, a version of Imperfect Cell was facing certain death.

He had thought that Trunks had taken a remote to shut down 17 and 18, but in truth he gained power to do so, and now he is going to meet the same fate.

A different version of Trunks with Saiyan armor identical to his father's rose his hands ready to annihilate Cell.

"The nightmare is over Cell! Disappear!"

The time traveler yelled as he unleashed a powerful golden light before Cell could fire his Kamehameha Wave.

Cell will now meet his end.

Or so he thought.

A portal opened and pulled him in before the attack could land.

Now this timeline was free of Androids.

But this version of Cell was not vanquished.

Cell screamed and gasped when he realized the blast never hit him, he took a breath and looked around him.

He was somewhere dark, unable to see anything. "What just happened?"

"Greetings."

The bio-Android turned and saw a female with blue skin, dressed in a black and red tight outfit, wielding a demonic staff.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Cell." She said to him smiling.

Cell was shocked that someone he didn't even know knew his name.

"Who are you? Were you the one who brought me here?"

"The one who saved you, yes." Towa said to him.

Cell growled and stomped his foot. "I had the boy until you intervened."

No doubt his Frieza and Saiyan Cells flared hearing that he was 'saved'.

"You would have, after you had your perfect form."

Cell was surprised again.

"Who are you and how do you all this?"

Towa smirked.

"Let's talk, I have so much to show you."

Cell would agree and follow the woman, not knowing that what awaited him was something beyond perfection.

Iolite in her Super Saiyan 2 form flew off with the boys as fast as she could, her mind running a million miles a minute.

These Androids, they knew things they shouldn't, how long have they been watching us? Has it been since 16 came back? Has he been running surveillance this whole time?

And is it even the 16 she knew?

"Sis?" She looked down at her brother. "Where do we go? What if they have more Androids?"

"It's all going to be ok." She said to him. "Shorz, Joyaku, it's going to be alright, we'll lay low until dad says it's safe, everything is going to be alright."

Though she only wished that she can say she can protect them. It's just like back when Baby showed up, she was helpless as she was when she was a child and had to be protected.

The trio had made it to a forest and landed on the ground.

"Alright, we'll wait here until we know it's safe." Iolite said. "Do not get out of my sight, ok?"

"You think they'll get to us soon?" Joyaku asked.

"Yes, we just need time." She said to them. "Don't use any more energy and lets head out on foot, we'll be fine."

Just then two figures landed behind them.

Iolite turned around in Super Saiyan 2 ready to fight but to her surprise it was a welcome sight.

Her mother and uncle had come here, they must have destroyed the Androids in that area.

"Mom uncle?" She asked looking at the two. "Why are you in different clothes?"

They were dressed in the outfits they used to wear back when they were programmed to destroy humanity.

The duo looked at the two.

Her mother smiled. "Don't worry about it Iolite, we're here now, it's going to be alright."

Iolite wanted to be happy to hear that, but something felt off about the way she said it, it sounded cold.

"Mom!" Shorz yelled happy to see his mother winning.

"Shorz wait." Iolite said as Shorz got in touching distance of his 'mother'.

The boy smiled brightly at his mother and looked up at her.

"Did you and uncle beat those Androids?"

His 'mother' didn't reply, she only looked down at him with a frown with cold dead eyes.

"Dad!"

The black haired Android turned to see his 'son' heading for him.

"Mom, she's in trouble, we need to save her now!"

The Android seemed to twitch hearing the word 'mom' from him as if it disgusted him.

Iolite seemed to be scared, their clothes were not only different but so were their mannerism. What if not just 16 was different but her mom and uncle to!

"Boys get back!" Iolite yelled and pulled the two away from the two Androids.

"Iolite! What are you doing?" Joyaku yelled.

17 chuckled lightly and turned to his sister.

"Guess she got her brains from you." He complimented.

"Hmph" 18 walked forward.

"Mom?" Shorz was starting to get scared of the look her mother gave.

"Mom, uncle" Iolite began. "Listen to me I don't know how but you don't seem no-"

Faster than she can react even in Super Saiyan 2 18 was right in front of her.

And she rose an arm and backhanded her 'daughter' across the face.

This simple strike launched her away between the boys.

Iolite was sent skidding across the ground destroying a good chunk of the forest and through a mountain and into the one behind her, the impact was so powerful it caused an earthquake.

Now the daughter of Trunks was laying her back on a boulder, her hair dropped into her normal lavender haired. Her eyes were starting to close, she knew she had to save them but she couldn't stay conscious, that one attack had incapacitated her.

She closed her eyes unable to move.

The boys panicked seeing the oldest child knocked away like a fly.

"M-mom!" Shorz looked up at his mother who seemed to admire her handiwork. "W-why did you do that?"

18 looked down at the boy, she can see he had half of his hair in her color, and the other in His. She merely chuckled. "Your sister wasn't permitted to speak." She then took a step forward which scared him.

"And neither were you." She said to him as she walked to him.

Shorz looked terrified.

"Aunt Lazuli stop!" Joyaku yelled only for him to hear a foot step behind him.

"Never call her that name."

He turned to see his 'father' looking down at him.

Before he could do anything he was kicked in the chest and crashed into the ground.

"AhhH!" Joyaku screamed as his 'father' was stepping on his chest.

"Rude of you to insult her with that human name, I'm sure I didn't teach you manners but I was hoping at least your mother taught you that kid." He said down to him as he pressed further into his midsection. "Guess I'll do it for her.

"Joyaku!" Shorz yelled for his cousin, he tried to run for him.

But 18 grabbed his arm, he looked up at her looking down at him with a terrifyingly sadistic grin.

"Now, now, don't be afraid." She used her other arm to grab his throat choking the young boy. "Mommy's here." She said chuckling.

These were not Lazuli and Lapis, they were their counterparts from the timeline Towa had abducted from.

"Now" 18 lifted her 'son' up high. "Should I kill you now? Or take you to your father and do it in front of her?"

Shorz screamed and went Super Saiyan but it did nothing to his 'mother's grip,

"I say we take them to their parents sis." He said to her ignoring Joyaku's screams whole pressing his show on his chest. "First I'll take him to his mother while 16 is dealing with him and end him, then we can go see Trunks."

He was just as disgusted at the idea of having children as 18 was, though she was even more so for in their minds were understandable reasons.

18 looked at the boy in her grip, he was starting to cry. "Hm, you look like your father only he never cried." She said as though she was offended.

"Alright 17, let me get the girl and then we can put an end to them in front of them." She said with a grin just imagining the confusion and terror on her plaything's face.

Just before they could move someone did come, and grab Shorz out of her hand, she evaded a kick on the side of her head.

And then Lapis had to avoid a strike to and he accidentally freed Joyaku.

Both Androids were peeved that they lost the children so quickly but smiled seeing who it was.

Trunks had gotten here as quick as he could and only acted to save the children, he didn't even get a close look at who had them were.

He placed the boys on the ground and turned around.

Once he did he got a better look at who it was he saved them from.

"Lapis? Lazuli?" Trunks looked confused seeing the siblings were acting this way. "What is this? Wait, you're not them are you?"

Both siblings looked at Trunks and grinned, finally they can have their revenge.

"Never call us those names again." 17 said to him. "And this time, there's no remote to save you."

They remembered that, so they were in a sense Lapis and Lazuli. But they were never freed from their programming.

Trunks felt a familiar chill in the air, the same chill he felt all those years ago, he looked at the woman who looked like his wife and was now, one of his biggest nightmares.

"We're not playing this time." 18 glared at him. "You're going to lose more than Gohan before we put you out of your misery."

Trunks must now face 17 and 18 once again.

17 and 18 have 'reunited' with Trunks, now the question is would Trunks destroy them knowing they are enslaved by their programming?

And remember they are powered up, Iolite is on par with Lazuli without Kaioken, and 18 just needed to strike once to knock her down to base.

16 is now enacting his part of the plan and is now keeping Zangya occupied.

21 is testing her upgrades against Lapis and Lazuli.

13-15 are still around, they only sent clones, the originals are still active here.

Not to mention the copies of 17 and 18 are still around.

And finally Cell is starting to come to play, when will he play his part? You'll have to wait and see, I won't be rushing to his new Perfect Form but it will be something to see.
