Chapter 1
Harry stared at the poke ball in his hand wondering how it came to be he now had to care for this strange new companion.
Flashback
The Macros Cosmos worker had lead Harry from the room back to the lobby to grab his aunt and cousin and lead them to a different building.
From there they were lead to a large room full of different poke balls in different rows and on their own pedestals. Harry nervously shuffles from foot to foot unable to look at his aunt or cousin afraid of what they may think of him for being a wizard.
The worker who gave him his exam returns with two more workers each wearing the same uniform.
"Alright Mr. Potter these are some co-workers of mine from Macro Cosmos here to help administer the final part of the exam as the last two proctors. Each wizard is given a sort of soul companion that they can bound with to help stabilize their magic quicker and teach responsibility."
"This part of the exam is easy, you will simply close your eyes and follow a pull or tug in whatever direction it leads you."
That's when one of the other workers steps forward with clip board in hand and points to an object behind the other two. "After that I will document which one you went to then while your eyes are still closed they are going to place you on that stretcher and move you to a different area. They will repeat this a total of six times in correlation with the standard magic number system."
Harry gulps afraid of what kind of Pokémon he might get stuck with and how that would make others think of him.
The worker with the clipboard moved forward and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry Mr. Potter I know this can be scary and you are worried about how others may come to see you but you need not worry about any of that."
"We have workers in every town ready to offer help and assistance who have gone through the same thing as you when they were younger."
The understanding smile and eyes shining with kindness set Harry at ease, with a nod and a reaffirming squeeze she release Harry and returns to the other workers.
"You may begin when ready Mr. Potter." With a deep breath Harry closed his eyes and raised his hand waiting for something to happen.
Suddenly as if he was grabbed at the wrist and pulled by a locomotive Harry moved to his left slightly and moved forward at an incredible rate. The exam proctors were surprised by the strong reaction and the immediate movement.
Harry was moving so quickly that he soon came to the pedestal that seemed to be drawing him, the proctor with the clipboard jotted down the location.
The other two proctors moves forward and placed Harry on the stretcher and moved him towards a different area of the room. Harry begins to try and open his eyes but is stopped by the proctors before light can even enter his retina.
"Sorry Mr. Potter but to make it as accurate as possible please keep your eyes closed for the duration of this exam."
Harry nods and continue to let them carry him to the next spot, and so the process was repeated until it had been done seven times leaving the proctors surprised each time.
The proctor with the clipboard moved to Harry's side and gabbed his shoulder. "Alright Mr. Potter you may open your eyes now we have the results."
Harry looked around adjusting to the light after so long keeping his eyes closed. "Well to say the outcome is surprising is an understatement Mr. Potter." As the proctor is speaking they are moving Harry towards the pedestals he kept coming too.
The other two proctors are bringing his aunt and cousin towards the same pedestals. "In the time we have been doing this we have never seen a combination like this nor a reaction like what you had."
Harry's nerves skyrocketed at this and he continued to not meet his aunt or cousins eyes.
"But I can say with certainty it is nice to see someone with your type of mentality and fortitude hopefully you can help us to continue the to make Galar great."
Petunia has moved close enough now to hear this and was curiously something. "What do you mean his mentality and fortitude what Pokémon did he get?"
The proctor with the clipboard moved between the two pedestals they had moved in front of them and gestured to the one on her right. It was a standard poke ball nothing truly special about it almost as if belying what lay in it.
"This poke ball contains a Golett which is sturdy, reliable and known for being defenders showing that your nephew has a strong spirit and sense of right and wrong."
Gesturing to her left one would see a pink with a heart just above the activation button.
"While this one contains a Riolu which is loyal, wise and fiercely protective good for protectors and agents of justice."
Petunia seemed to nearly beam at this news while Dudley seemed to glower at his cousin for receiving all this praise and good fortune.
"Separate they are good signs but together they mean your nephew is a true defender of the innocent and seeker of justice for those wronged. He is quiet literal the most honorable person you could imagine based off his soul companions."
Harry was unused to such praise for while his aunt and uncle didn't belittle him they never truly praised him and his cousin always bullied him.
So he never really received such praise as what these proctors were giving him. "But unfortunately for Mr. Potter he may only take one of these two for his soul companion."
This relieved some of the tension in Harry's heart but it also left him with a sense that he would come too regret not taking both.
"Why can't Harry take both is their a species shortage for those two?" His aunts question did make Harry wonder as well. "No miss it's just that no wizard or witch in recent history has ever bonded with two Pokémon since the time of darkest days."
The proctors words triggered something in the back of Harry's head as if it was a repressed memory dark clouds swirl over head a giant Pokémon seemingly bursting from the heavens reaching down to earth eliciting emotions not of elation but of fear and terror.
Harry feels a hand shaking him by the shoulder and snaps out of the weird dream to realize that everyone was staring at him.
He blushes and apologizes for not paying attention. "It's fine Mr. Potter but if you would please chose one of these two we can begin with registration and getting your information out to the other facilities in case of emergency."
Harry nods and moves closer to the pedestals and as he does he begins to feel something changing in him as if he has found a missing limb or sense.
And just as he was to lift his hand up to reach for one of the balls a bright light illuminates the room causing everyone but Harry to close their eyes so as not to go blind.
As the light disappears they all turn back to look at which one Harry chose and are all startled at what the are witnessing.
In front of Harry is a small bipedal jackal like creature with blue and black fur creating a mask on its face, clinging onto his hand.
At his feet is a small clay like creature almost resembling a rotund doll with ethereal yellow light pouring out or the cracks in its blue and green body and eyes, clutching his left leg.
Both had a lightning shaped mark, still glowing, on their foreheads seemingly matching Harry's to show who they are bonded to.
Flashback end
After that they had tried to see if they could remove one of the little guys from the soul bonding but even their best experts couldn't undo a soul bond. So for the first time in centuries a wizard had two soul companions with a poke ball to show that same thing.
During the process of bonding the two poke balls had fused together to make one large poke ball that could hold both Pokémon allowing one to rest while the other stayed at his side.
It looked like a regular poke ball with a bright pink heart over the activation button and a line splitting the bottom half into two.
At Harry's side was two thick care guides for the type of Pokémon Harry now had to look after so he can be held responsible if they aren't taken care of.
One talked about fighting types and how he would need to exercise and constantly need to push his Riolu in order to build friendship and help it to follow his orders better since the respect strength.
The second book dealt with physical ghost types and how to care and keep them in control since most ghost types want or need to devour souls.
But he lucked out on Golett since it can survive on a pretty simple diet and lived to serve making it a perfect companion for a beginning trainer like him. But still Harry was worried of the problems he would have going forward with his two companions and how they might act with new members later on down the road.
Little did he know that he would come to lose that doubt soon enough with a little help and a whole new set of headaches.
